Reviews for YHA Treyarnon Bay

Review 1:The cleanliness was not great, especially in the showers and toilets.

Review 2:The staff were really lovely and very helpful. The atmosphere was wonderful and the facilities are great. Food was excellent.

Review 3:The showers and toilets could be a lot cleaner, but the shower was lovely and powerful. I think that £1.50 for a tea bag is quite steep?

Review 4:The staff were really friendly and helpful...excellent. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Stunning views from dorm 6

Review 5:Location is amazing, right on the coast with a choice of 3 beaches in walkable distance which is ideal for surfers like me. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 6:Clearly a popular destination and well used; so whilst overall clean, it shows the high level of use.

Review 7:Friendly and informative staff, with excellent location and overall good facilities.

Review 8:Breakfast was poor quality, as it was included. But dinner was great, when we had to pay for it.

Review 9:For a cold and blustery day, it was a cosy shelter with fabulous views.

Review 10:It's impossible to have a bad experience here.

Review 11:The staff were extremely courteous and helpful. The accommodation was simply amazing considering the little price I was charged. Food was served regularly and the Bar contained an excellent supply of Real Ale. The sleeping area was crisp, clean, well looked after and allowed me a good nights kip.The situation , by the beach was outstanding. This place is a credit to the YHA and all the staff who work there. Many thanks

Review 12:Need to be able to get wifi in rooms if possible, sometimes it was too loud in the lounge area with many people in there.

Review 13:Loved location, food was great and staff were just so helpful.

Review 14:Stunning location - would like to stay again in the future Pretty good value for money - backpacker family room with toilet/shower Staff very kind and excellent service Meals were great

Review 15:On the first night there was a group making an incredible amount of noise until 1am keeping occupants up. No staff available to manage this.

Review 16:Comfy beds, good location and helpful day staff.

Review 17:It is very noisy at night, you need ear plugs. Walls are paper thin and doors slam constantly til around midnight which makes it tricky to go to bed early or get small kids to sleep. We were downstairs, perhaps an upstairs room would be quieter? That said, I would still return, shove your ear plugs in and accept you get what you pay for sometimes!

Review 18:Staff (notably Emma) was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. From checking we were en route, to printing maps for us, she embodied what is great about hostelling. The food was good value in the café and the location is incomparable, so close to two great beaches. Fabulous. You go to this hostel for the location.

Review 19:One soft pillow. Food was good but choice a bit limited, fine for a short stay.

Review 20:Great beach for bodyboarders & surfers. Very nice staff, very helpful. Laid back atmosphere. Lovely walks on cliffs.

Review 21:Nothing to dislike.

Review 22:The beautiful location... the cosy, well appointed interior... the excellent, good value meals for sale...the friendly staff...my private room (which came to me out of a harmless booking mistake).... the low cost of my accommodation.

Review 23:Your sleep rooms can't be soundproofed so perhaps a couple of potato peelers in the kitchen for those of us who like to prepare fresh Vegatables.

Review 24:This Cornish visit was of a stressful nature and our stay was both relaxing and therapeutic, thanks to your staff, your coffee machine and cakes and of course a location to die for. Interior is well designed for visitors needs.

Review 25:Not having ensuite facilities but the toilets are showers were very near to our room.

Review 26:The wonderful location, sea view bedroom and a very comfortable bed

Review 27:I couldn't believe it when I saw the views from the hostel, literally right on the beach and amazing sunset views! Saw dolphins swimming past the second we arrived, so felt like a very special place! Bar, cafe was lovely and there was even live music on a Monday night! Was the perfect way to see Cornwall!

Review 28:The first comforter we received had a blood stain on it. Staff replaced it immediately and offered apology. Just an unfortunate first impression. Also, we were on foot, visiting from U.S., so would not have been able to find it without directions from the surf shop on the road. Signs would be a big help. .

Review 29:The location is beautiful, the food was excellent. Staff was helpful in allowing us to use phone for emergency call, and in ordering a taxi for us. Loved the benches overlooking the bay, and having dinner and music outside in the evening.

Review 30:The Kitchen is probably fine out of season, but as this very busy time the kitchen and storage room seemed rather cramped. Just two small kettles. Didn't attempt to cook anything as it was always rather busy. Café food was good anyway!

Review 31:location close to the beach, and the sunsets are marvellous. facilities and storage for wetsuits bikes and boards very useful. our room was great. Beds and bedding were very good, we even had plenty of coat hangers so we could unpack properly. which I've never done in a hostel before. staff friendly and coped well with people, residents and non residents, using the café and bar.

Review 32:Our room did not meet my expectation and it did not look the same when I booked it. Our first night was very bad as other guests were very noisy, doors were constantly banging and loud footsteps. Our toilet needed to be clean regularly. I think our designated toilet wasn't cleaned for 2 days as it smelled of staled urine in the floor. I expect we would have access to wifi but I understand that the location has poor signal. During our stay it wasn't necessary but what about if someone wishes to contact urgently or there's an important message for the guest.

Review 33:I like the location as it was near the beach where my children mostly enjoyed. The staff were very good and has good access to the kitchenette.

Review 34:Kitchen for self catering is a health hazard ! Largely this is because it is too small for the number of people who use it ! It needs an upgrade urgently. ( I mentioned to my friend that I was considering leaving money in my Will for that purpose!) Despite that .. I wasn't put off as I've had great stays at Treyarnon

Review 35:View from room (shared dorm) Pleasant staff Relaxed atmosphere

Review 36:- Staff overworked between restaurant and hostel (it was peak season) - Ran out of many food options - Very basic for the price, and looks neglected... But still an awesome location

Review 37:- Amazing location and view, but the drive in is a bit hairy

Review 38:excellent cafe open all day and late into the evening with outdoor seating. Plenty of car parking close by.Comfortable, clean rooms. Real buzz and great atmosphere. Best of all a fantastic location right beside Treyarnon bay with wonderful west facing views. Lovely!

Review 39:Too noisy - had room over bar and very noisy until ~11.30 pm then lots of banging fire doors from 7.30 am = 3 tired kids. Should have warned us when room booked. Cleanliness of toilets needs improving - weeks of accumulated grime in some.

Review 40:Location is spectacular - sunsets, rock pools, golden sand and good waves for both grown up and kids. Availability of good beer and OK food. Most of staff pretty good and some really good.

Review 41:The room was great with a fantastic view of the sea.

Review 42:Fantastic value for money. Location is amazing with views over the sea. Lovely breakfast and very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 43:LOCATION IS INCREDIBLE - SEA WITHIN 1MIN WALK - WALKS ALONG COAST STUNNINBG STAFF VERY HELPFUL AND PLEASANT, ACCOMMODATING

Review 45:Really nice staff, good kitchen, beautiful scenery.

Review 46:Room a bit cold but otherwise ok

Review 47:Excellent location, friendly, helpful staff especially Liam who went out of his way to help us

Review 48:hard to find - no sign on the private road you need to take by the beach

Review 49:great location and staff

Review 50:It is in a stunning location. Great value considering the location and facilities.

Review 51:Kitchen all refitted since I was last here, nice!

Review 54:Location - brilliant

Review 55:Cold water in shower. Noisy .

Review 56:The location to a beautiful little cove. Lots of hussle and bustle atmosphere was brilliant in hostel

Review 57:Accommodation hard to find, at least in darkness and is down a road which is labelled "Private Road"

Review 71:Loved the location , the food was excellent , staff friendly and helpful

Review 72:You couldn't get a better location, right on the sea front with great views. Nice café and helpful staff.

Review 73:Noise Uncomfortable bed Stale room As expensive as a band b

Review 74:Beautiful location

Review 75:Location is perfect Staff are very friendly and helpful Beach Food

Review 76:The pull cords for the lights in the toilets would harbour E-coli from users and would be problematic to clean.

Review 77:I liked the food, the efficient drying room, the beds, the library and the views of the ocean. I was pleased when the staff turned the radio down at my request because the sound was directly below our bedroom.

Review 78:thought breakfast could be better organised with a faster service. If people did more themselves, like make their own toast and take food from a selk service there wouldn't be so much waste maybe

Review 79:Having booked through booking.com - I seemed to be automatically directed that way - and there was a big discrepancy in prices between comparable rooms. Also friends who booked directly at the same time paid a fair bit less.

Review 80:Friendly, accommodating staff. Relaxed atmosphere. Lovely views from room 1.

Review 81:This was the best hotel.3 what does restate stunning view sometimes look at the view you feel like I want to move here and the stuff awesome Plym this is perfect overall it's one of the best others in UK according to the money cannot complain for anything

Review 82:Very loud in the morning with people apparently clattering up & down the stairs continually between about 6 and 8am - made it very difficult to sleep. Think this might have been families with young children. This is the one thing that would stop me staying here again. Also the shower was cold.

Review 83:Excellent location and friendly staff, & nice being able to buy hot food on site for breakfast/dinner

Review 84:It is pricier than I was expecting for a youth hostel. Didn't like making the beds up (seeing naked pillows/duvets!)- happy to remove bedding the morning after so not about effort, just don't want to think who else has slept in my bed!

Review 85:The location is amazing, right on the cliff top, just a short walk to 2 beautiful beaches. There was a great atmosphere on the Friday evening in the beer garden, overspilling onto the cliff top. The staff were very friendly and obliging. The breakfast team seemed short staffed (just 1) but he was calm and helpful and efficient (lots of people would have turned into Basil Fawlty). Good food too. Would definitely stay again. The kids loved it.

Review 86:1.Very poor cleanliness 2.No free WiFi, no mobile phone reception 3.Narrow roads 4.Uncomfortable beds 5.No free breakfast 6.Very small beach 7.Strong smell everywhere as the hotel self-catering 8.May be ok for £280 for 3 nights for a room (4-5 people) but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone of my friends

Review 87:Outside area

Review 88:Nothing- go expecting basic living and you will not be disappointed, especially if free spirited.

Review 89:Location, location location!!! Great staff- friendly, helpful and dynamic. Basic comforts to be expected but fully content with what we got for the price. Kids loved it. Crisp, very new, fresh linen.

Review 90:no one on reception next morning to say goodbye

Review 91:The location is beautiful with excellent walking and proximity to the Camel Trail, and good public transport facilities. We loved the music on Saturday night-and the fact that it ended at a reasonable time for tired walkers! liked by both me and my 15 year old granddaughter. good croissants and plenty of coffee. It was unusually hot and windows ha

Review 92:The accommodation was within a stunning location, next to a secluded beach area with beautiful views from any angle. The accommodation as clean and has very good communal areas i.e. living area and kitchen. The staff were very friendly and the hostel provided a very good atmosphere. It was children friendly and there was no excessive noise from other residents within my stay. Finally it is extremely good quality for money, i would highly recommend.

Review 93:DREADFUL SCREACHY CHAIRS in dining communal area!! Fine if you like the sound of metal screaching along slate every 2 seconds, quite unbearable!

Review 94:Great location, friendly helpful staff, value for money
