Reviews for Andel Lodge
Review 1:Numerous flies in the room, damp smell, very dirty toilet brush, general cleanliness.
Review 2:Staff friendly, room warm, comfy beds and very quiet. Convenient for our Xmas Party in the gazebo.
Review 3:Heating wouldn't work in bedroom, and fittings etc. very dated. Lights over bed weren't working, but there were bedside lamps instead. Our second bedroom outside was damp and dated too. And the water for the bath made far too much noise to fill up. The portable heaters gave us all a headache, but at least they heated the rooms
Review 4:Staff and food were both very good. Would have loved a log fire in the bar! Everyone very friendly. Breakfast very nice too. Porridge?
Review 5:Nothing
Review 6:We stayed here for a wedding and had a lovely chalet room. Very private with a bath and shower and even had a little veranda, staff work extremely hard to make sure everything goes well.
Review 7:No shower only a bath. Overpowering smell of perfumed sheets. Too much fabric softener maybe but quite unpleasant
Review 8:Evening meal was great and staff were lovley
Review 9:What a pleasure it was to stay at a wonderful family run hotel. The food was excellent and we were made to feel very welcome. We will definitely stay here again
Review 10:We had to rely on local buses and the bus drivers were NOT helpful and charged us too much and did not inform us of best fare options. We are seniors and got no discounts.
Review 11:Helpful staff
Review 12:Having to pay extra for the dog when not mentioned prior to arrival. Room quite small but ok as we weren't in it for long.
Review 13:Breakfast was lovely!
Review 14:Unusable WiFi, could log in but the line was too saturated to pick up email. A major refurb could see this hotel become something very very special in the county as the grounds and location are superb. At the moment the public areas are kitsch, like visiting your grandparents home when the last update of decor was mid 1980s; sentimentally charming, tacky and fun all rolled up in one. One catch with kitch is that you're never quite sure if it's supposed to be serious or not. It's that uncertainty that is amusing here.
Review 15:Warm welcome, stunning grounds, friendly staff. Excellent value.
Review 16:Very friendly staff, very clean and comfortable - only slight downside was that there was no shower in my room but all other facilities were excellent.
Review 17:Very noisy, near a main road, unable to have window open at night. However a large quiet fan provided which was very useful.I had also taken ear plugs as I am a very light sleeper.
Review 18:Near King's Lynn where we were attending a funeral. Quiet inside,no noisy guests but our room was in the front so very noisy with the window open.Very pretty flowers at the front, and pleasant areas to sit outside.Unfortunately we were not there long enough to make use of them.
Review 19:In our opinion the food in the restaurant was poor both for breakfast and dinner although eatable but not enjoyable.
Review 20:he room was very nice but lacked a shower. We were offered another room but it was much smaller so we decided to take the original room.
Review 21:Room could have done with a good clean, lots of cobwebs, dirty windows, curtains, blinds. A lot of mosquitos in the room with our room being straight off the garden.
Review 22:Pet friendly, comfy bed, tea & coffee facilities.
Review 23:Noise from A10 overnight - ask for a room at the back if you're a light sleeper. No antislip mat in bath, or grab handles, so my elderly mother did not feel safe and could not use the overbath shower.
Review 24:Efficient, welcoming, helpful staff. Very pet-friendly, with a field at the back for exercising dogs. Delicious breakfast!
Review 25:Not a bad experience with the lodge but the traffic on the A10 was very busy at times.
Review 26:I stayed for the one night before travelling on to Lowestoft. The lodge room was quiet and there was a small field behind the lodge where I could take my dog for a walk, and I appreciated this as the main road did not have a pavement. Dinner was available in my room on this occasion.
Review 27:I felt my room was overpriced compared to my previous nights accommodation.
Review 28:The room was pleasant and had its own bathroom. The breakfast was good and it was nice to relax in the bar area.
Review 29:Road noise as we were near the front of the building.
Review 30:Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Peaceful gardens. Excellent choice of food which was perfectly presented.
Review 31:The water works wear loud, but apart from that, I couldn't say a bad thing about the place
Review 32:I thought this hotel/staff wear delightful! I couldn't have asked for a better night sleep Also we did turn up late, but the staff still ofterd to cook for us, witch I thought was really sweet
Review 33:We would have liked more choice of yoghurt and fruits at breakfast together with a jug of water (to dilute the strong fruit juice) and some muesli. The option of a shower rather than a bath would have been good, and the WiFi was very unreliable although this may have been down to the supplier as the location was probably a long way from a telephone exchange.
Review 34:The quality of the food, which was carefully prepared, was excellent. We also liked the individual character of the property and the overall value for money.
Review 35:The road outside was very busy and noisy but our room at the back was not disturbed by it.
Review 36:From the moment we arrived we felt at ease.Every person on the staff made us feel that we were special! We were shown where to park our car for easy access to our room and the main building.Food was cooked to our taste and served with style. The friendliness of the staff meant that guests felt at ease and were able to converse like old friends. Fresh towels every day is a treat not always enjoyed these days! Our thanks to the family and staff for a great short break.
Review 37:Great bar Staff, very helpful. Didn't want large meal so we were happily given tasting plate to share, then delicious dessert. Nice and quiet in rooms out the back as hotel on quite a busy road.
Review 38:Room had bath but no shower, (should have double checked my fault) .not all the lights were working but not a big deal.
Review 39:Friendly staff, and comfortable room at the back of hotel away from main road. Plenty of books to borrow and leaflets from various attractions.
Review 40:Did not like our 'chalet' style room which was located in the garden. Bathroom doors did not shut properly. Mattress was very uncomfortable, every spring could be felt making what should have been a good nights sleep, virtually impossible.
Review 41:Location was easy to find as situated along main road. Very pretty garden. Tasteful décor in main building.
Review 42:The room would be better if it had a couple of chairs. The freeview TV was very limited with the number of channels available. The door lock was a bit dodgy and was not easy to lock.
Review 43:The room I stayed in was in a row of chalets. The door opened onto a patio with tables and chairs and a pleasant garden with a fish pond. The room was basic but nicely decorated and it was a reasonable size and comfortable.
Review 44:The only thing we had an issue with was the location. With not being from the area we took a while to figure out that there were 2 roads with the same name, but we eventually got there in the end!
Review 45:The friendliness of the owner was lovely. She was so welcoming and showed us up to our room. The room was beautiful and I got a great nights sleep! We paid extra for the breakfast which was definitely worth having, with other options available.
Review 46:Staff were preoccupied with wedding function and did not offer options of any dinner or breakfast. TV needs to be updated.
Review 47:The rooms were value for money, comfortable and clean for our one night stay.
Review 48:This hotel is on the A10 and with a room on the front, very noisy. Walls are thin and the snoring from next door was bad! English breakfast was not the best, poor quality ingredients and very greasy. Some of the furniture was very tired and the room could have done with a thorough clean. No real beer.
Review 49:Setting was great with very pleasant gardens. Evening meals were excellent Morning kippers. Excellent staff who were all very friendly.
Review 50:One small complaint about the room which was 12. The shower needed some attention to cleanliness but the room itself was very good.
Review 51:Food was first class with an extremely good menu. Nice restaurant and excellent service. Very friendly ,peaceful and comfortable hotel.
Review 52:So glad i booked our nights stay at the Andel Lodge. Very welcoming and friendly and good value. A good variety of bar food served and the a la carte evening menu was great too. All freshly cooked and locally sourced. Only 5 miles into Kings Lynn.
Review 53:Missed having a shower - but only a minor point - made a change to have a bath!
Review 54:Really friendly family run business. Lovely food - both the bar food and in the restaurant. Pretty garden with seating outside for pre dinner drinks etc. A very happy stay.
Review 55:Room old fashioned and very cluttered. Staff member was rude in the morning. Room cluttered (I know I've already said this but it was really full of unnecessary clutter). Noisy doors banging.
Review 56:Easy to find. Reasonably clean.
Review 57:Gossip from the owner in front of guests in the Breakfast room. Something had gone wrong with the table allocation at Breakfast and our's was not dressed. This latterly caused a great deal of conversation with the owner and other guests at a particular table next to us where he also sat. He was also talking and gossiping about other former guests, in a really negative fashion and we really did not want to hear this. We also felt the young lady (front of House) was at times treated in contemptuous way. This is what we observed and heard. Not good really hence the poor for staff, but not the young lady. She seemed to get the blame a lot as well also not good!
Review 58:The room was very clean as was the Hotel in fact. The young lady who was front of house was excellent, kind and considerate and willing.
Review 59:Accomodation in 'attached' Bedrooms... very hot no ventilation or air con. Atmosphere dull and dark due to covered veranda. External property and site tired and unkempt...
Review 60:Food good.
Review 61:lack of staff, shabbiness of room, lack of organisation, expensive food and drink. Having to wait hour and half for food. Insects in the room, dated bedroom furniture and carpets. Bedside cabinets that fell apart when opening.
Review 62:The front of the hotel looked nice
Review 63:It wasn't made clear enough when booking that everything closes after 6pm on a sunday. We had no food or drink available and we came via train/taxi so had no way of exploring the surrounding area to get some! We also saw a note while we were there advising it was closed saturday night too! Not sure what our £65 a night was for? When we turned up we had to shout for a member of staff as none available and when looking on booking.com to book a room on a night in the week (when facilities were open and available) it was £10 cheaper per night!!
Review 64:Rooms were clean
Review 65:nothing
Review 66:What a wonderful place, the minute you walk in you sense you will enjoy every second, the management and the staff are so fantastic and the setting is so peaceful. I've recommended the hotel so many times on our return. We thank everybody at the hotel for making our stay so extra special, thank you so much

Review 82:Lovely elegant family run hotel. Excellent dinner and breakfast
Review 83:No shower

Review 85:1 bed was too close to the wall and the room was very small. OK for a short (2 niht stay).

Review 87:No shower in room.
