Reviews for Hampshire Hotel
Review 1:Felt the room was a little cold on occasions.
Review 2:The staff on reception and restaurant extremely helpful and nothing too much trouble. They couldn't do enough for you. The room was quiet, bright and airy. Parking on site was a bonus and the town centre in easy walking distance.
Review 3:The bedrooms were dated and the bathroom needs doing
Review 4:The restaurant was fantastic such good value for money and felt like you were out in a restaurant rather then a meal in the hotel
Review 5:Bathroom smelt a bit 'mouldy' but was actually clean.
Review 6:Lovely friendly and helpful staff. We stayed overnight as we were moving home and they let us use the room past checkout time, which was so helpful to us. The food is always good at the Hampshire.
Review 7:The view from Room 8 is not particularly appealing.
Review 8:Its great value for money . The breakfast is outstanding. Room 8 is large , well equipped and comfortable .
Review 9:Room could maybe have been a little warmer. On my 2nd day it wasn't very nice and rained all day. Think heating works on a timer so room was a little chilly after coming in from the rain in the afternoon.
Review 10:Although I had booked a single room I was given a twin room. Nice quiet room with very comfortable beds. Staff in hotel were all very helpful with regards directions and advice on where to eat. Bar food was very good, as was breakfast.
Review 11:Although the restaurant food was excellent the atmosfear was flat, the menu could do with more vegetarian options as risotto every night made us eat elsewhere maybe some simpler foods to eat in bar area as bar menu limited. Blue celling lights made the bar look closed even when open. Only ever found three channels on tv in room free view would be a advantage
Review 12:Good location even though it's 15 min walk into town. Restaurant food was worthy of a four star hotel in this three star hotel and reasonably priced, breakfast was plentiful and good quality and was replenished regularly along with friendly staff
Review 13:Furniture in bedroom was a little down at heel, and would benefit from an update. Car park difficult to get into.
Review 14:Very welcoming and the food was excellent
Review 15:Not really a bad experience, my only comment is that the bathroom in room 42 was a bit small.
Review 16:Excellent staff always friendly and helpful. The food was of the highest quality, there was a good choice for breakfast and really tasty, and the evening meals which four of us had twice were all of the highest quality.
Review 17:1. the wifi doesn't work in the room, we have to go to the corridor or down stairs to catch wifi signal. 2. the corridor leading to the room reminds of me a dorm. 3. the room does not look like the picture on the website. it looks old and extremely basic. 4. the bathroom is also very basic and does not have all the amenities they claim to provide in the pictures. the shower is over a bathtub and the water pressure is not very good. 5. the breakfast is ok. The range of choice isnt very large. the fruit salad provided to go with the breakfast cereal was not fresh at all. We would never stay there again.
Review 18:The staff are very friendly. the location is good, short walking distance to the town centre and easy to find.
Review 19:WiFi speed was not great but that is being really picky and it didn't spoil our stay.
Review 20:Very friendly and helpful staff, best I've ever known in a hotel. Restaurant food was superb. Good value for money all round.
Review 21:Some of the furniture in our room was looking very tired.
Review 22:The staff were excellent, both friendly and helpful. The hotel was spotless and the food superb.
Review 23:Pool was supposed to be heated but was freezing. Poor sound proofing in rooms resulting in noise from guests in other rooms.
Review 24:Food was good with plenty of choice.
Review 25:The noise of people walking about in the bedroom above us particularly early in the morning.
Review 26:The food at breakfast and dinner was excellent and all the staff were very efficient, friendly and polite.
Review 27:very clean, helpful staff and a decent internet connection. To have a pool as well is a very nice bonus! out of the main centre to be quiet but not to far for an easy stroll.
Review 28:excellent value for money Great staff Really nice place. Rooms functional but really clean and very comfortable bed. Great stay, Only downside is the location as hotel is only near one bus route but pretty easy to walk into town to the bus station
Review 29:The hotel's soundproofing is very poor. I can hear every foot steps when people move in upstairs. And our room is at the end of the building so we can clearly hear the music from the restaurant up to 11:30 at weekends. The WiFi is poor because of the distance to the router.
Review 30:Creeky floors in the bedroom and the rooms above - Could hear the people above our room walking around constantly (and other noises). quite a noisey area even with windows closed.
Review 31:The hotel was lovely and clean, very presentable. Could potentially be an amazing boutique hotel with a few improvements on the bedrooms
Review 32:The staff were so nice and made me feel welcome and safe. The one member of staff that stood out was the man who was in charge of the waiting and kitchen staff he was so lovely and cracked a lot of jokes which made me laugh. The food was amazing in the evening. They also have free WiFi which moat hotels charge you a fee I will defiantly stay here again with out a doubt the value for money was superb
Review 33:I couldn't fault this hotel everything about it was fantastic, we had both an elderly family member with us and a 4yr old and they catered for everyone. Amazing selection at breakfast, comfy and clean room etc
Review 34:Noise from the room above early in the morning , and the adjacent kitchen at breakfast time was loud!
Review 35:The food in the restaurant was exceptionally good, and the decor!!
Review 36:Bed 'dipped' in the middle. WiFi a little hit and miss. All minor issues which didn't detract from a fantastic stay.
Review 37:Lovely staff. Lovely hotel. We divided our time between travelling around the island and relaxing by the pool. Fantastic breakfast. Good sized triple room. We were at the back of the hotel but the noise from the warehouse (that others have mentioned) didn't bother us and the windows were open all night.
Review 38:We booked a table for 7.30 in the resturant and had to wait ages for our food.
Review 39:The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The hotel was very clean. The food was very nice, except the meat portions were small. The soup was excellent.
Review 40:The pool said it was heated, but it wasn't
Review 41:Reception staff were very friendly, hotel was in a good location far enough out of town, but only 20 min walk away.
Review 42:The Wifi in the room was extremely bad, connectable, and I was able to intermittently watch a bit of a film on Netflix, but the signal would keep dropping. It would be okay for a few emails, but nothing that would require a strong permanent connection for long periods of time
Review 43:The hotel was simple, but beautiful. With a relaxed atmosphere and fantastic facilities, I felt very comfortable in my room and would highly recommend this hotel
Review 44:The view of the hotel wasn't the best. The noise from the nearby stadium, could be quite loud towards the evening
Review 45:The staff were always lovely, Vicky was very helpful and always made us feel welcome. The room size and bed were very good. Breakfast was also very good.
Review 46:while buffet breakfast was excellent we had booked half board and the meals were not to our taste I think the chef is aspriational and puts presentation above substance should try catering with at least one dish on the menu which panders to those of us who want more down to earth vegetables and soups
Review 47:sporlessly clean all areas Staff very pleasant and helpful We had a premier room which was well appointed
Review 48:The staff were excellent and always smiling and helpfull. The hotel was very well kept and well fitted with a nice decking area around the swimming pool. Had a generally good feel to it.
Review 49:Could have been better organised in kitchen for breakfast. Numerous times no fried eggs/bacon available ie. had to wait for replenishment
Review 50:Staff very friendly and helpful throughout stay, especially the two young waitresses.
Review 51:Only a few here, mostly with our room, we were in room 42 which had avery small bathroom. The room was also quite warm (we went during thesummer), I think the hotel should invest in some A/C'S. We leftthe window open for the duration of our stay, which let in a lot ofnoise from the road below. So, another reason for A/C'S.
Review 52:Food was excellent! Would highly recommend going half board! All you caneat breakfast buffet, serving full English's and continentalchoices. Evening dinner was brilliant! A very high standard. Location ofthe hotel was good aswell, short walk into st.helier town centre.
Review 53:Wifi was the biggest problem, we didn't get reception, I noticed there were no routers on the 3 rd floor and the only way we got reception was in the bathroom, second problem was shower wasn't that hot, it kept changing between hot and cold water which in my opinion shouldn't happen.
Review 54:Hi, this is the second year running that we went to Jersey and stayed at Hampshire for the second time as well, staff are extremely helpful and courteous apart from one of the receptionist who wasn't very welcoming. Owner of the hotel is extremely helpful and friendly person and acknowledges guests personally.
Review 55:Only one minor negative - wifi connection was poor at times
Review 56:Fantastic evening meals. Comfortable and spacious room. Friendly staff and all requests dealt with prompty. Hope to visit again soon.
Review 57:Not really anything to do in the evening near the hotel. Our room was over the kitchen which was noisy when they prepped (music)
Review 58:Staff were excellent. Food in the restaurant also excellent for both breakfast and dinner.
Review 59:Car park available, but tight. Our car hit whilst we were there, and not reported to anyone. Disappointing. The food in restaurants is great, but dinner menus very repetitive.
Review 60:Staff lovely. Great easy location from port. Excellent food. Bar menu available too. Great value for money on food.
Review 61:View from room was not that great being a car park and back of houses.
Review 62:Staff were outstanding very helpful and food was excellent breakfast/evening meal. We would go back here.
Review 63:No toiletries despite claim to provide them. Noise from some areas of the hotel reached the room. Not as close to ferry as led to believe.
Review 64:Responded quickly to concerns. Did chase taxi company when they were late.
Review 65:The only reason for not giving top marks for location is there is no "view" but you can't have everything.
Review 66:Very friendly staff and very comfortable. Food great and nice terrace if you smoke. Beds really comfortable. We really enjoyed it here and plan to go back. If you are smokers get a ground floor room. There is a very well stocked supermarket 1 min walk away. Ideal if you have kids.
Review 67:The hotel was quite central. Our room was very comfortable and clean and the staff (particularly the reception) were extremely helpful and cheerful at all times.
Review 68:The location is not the greatest and driving round St.Helier without Sat-Nav I would imagine could be a nightmare due to the myriad of one way streets.
Review 69:The staff were an absolute credit to the hotel. Nothing was too much trouble. The bar and restaurant areas are superb and the food is nothing short of stunning.
Review 70:Frequency of bus service to the Bus Station. Not an easy walk to the Bus Station for those of a certain age or restricted mobility. Allocated a small double bedroom. Would have been much better if I had taken or hired a car.
Review 71:Staff and facilities good. Bus stop outside the Hotel.
Review 72:The noise of people's footsteps above was quite loud! Time breakfast ends is early especially for a Sunday.
Review 73:Great location and room was fantastic for two adults and our three young children. Clean and great amenities
Review 74:sitting in the restaurant you could hear (coronation st ) playing in the lounge
Review 75:food was very very good well done chef . Vicky on reception was brilliant may be a little more choice at breakfast
Review 76:Great location & venue. Staffed by an exellent team. Large, clean bedroom and bathroom. breakfast was excellent, I stayed in every evening and ate from the hotel menu, a tasty variety of dinner options. Look forward to heading back.
Review 77:No air con in superior rooms
Review 78:Hotel is in a good central location, an easy 10 min stroll to town centre. Nice relaxed atmosphere in a pleasant environment. Standard of food was very high even on the half board arrangement.
Review 79:Can't fault this hotel. Dropping off, if by taxi, can be a little tricky with the main road being quite busy, but with advance warning it's no problem at all.
Review 80:Easy access into St. Helier. Clean, efficient and cost effective. 15 mins from the airport.
Review 81:The hotel was a good 15 min walk into St Helier centre with its location set in a tired area of St Helier.
Review 82:The hotel was clean, well run, and adequate for a short stay. The room was spacious with a good size en-suit
Review 83:We had a very weak Wifi signal in our room which was annoying! The family room should have a full size single bed in the spare room.
Review 84:Very relaxing family holiday with lovely friendly staff. The bar is a great place to sit & socialise and the food in the restaurant is excellent. The rooms we're cleaned every day and we ha a great breakfast choice.
Review 85:As above bar didn't open until 5
Review 86:Everything Great hotel & staff would definitely stay again Only downside was that the bar didn't open until 5
Review 87:The only drawback for guests without a car is the location: the distance between the hotel and the centre of St. Helier means about 15 minutes of brisk walking.
Review 88:We can honestly recommend this hotel to every prospective guest. We liked everything: the rooms, the service, the breakfast. One of the ladies at the reception desk (unfortunately, I don't remember her name) was particularly helpful with sorting out our messed up booking for one of our friends. Thanks to her help, the room for one extra night was quickly found. Everything was done in a friendly and smooth way. A big "thank you" from us:-))
Review 89:The room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly. The restaurant food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We couldn't fault the hotel at all.
Review 90:A lovely welcome on arrival made you feel at home. Beds very comfortable ,excellent cleanliness. The restaurant staff were attentive and friendly , the food was superb and well priced at 18.60 for the 2 course fixed menu
Review 91:Bathroom was very basic. Toilet seat wouldn't stay up, water pressure was very low in the shower and floor felt 'tacky'
Review 92:Very varied breakfast was excellent and the bed was very comfortable. Location ok as hotel is just far enough out of town to be quiet but still close enough to walk to town centre
Review 93:The breakfast was fantastic. Staff couldn't do enough Chris the manager was amazing, so friendly and helpful Really comfy beds Great location
Review 94:Bed was a bit to soft but that was only a personal preference. Could have done with a fridge in the room
Review 95:Friendly staff and helpful, food fab and room lovely
Review 96:The room I had this stay was a bit noisy. A very high pitched buzz most of the time - generator/boiler I don't know?
Review 97:I have stayed at the Hotel before. It's good location for me as a friend lives close by.
Review 98:Room was a bit warm, although the staff were quick to switch off the heating when we asked them to.
Review 99:Nice comfortable room which was well maintained, friendly staff and A good breakfast!
Review 100:Unfortunately due to a bad description on the part of the booking.com website we had booked a room that was single occupancy only.
Review 101:The lady that seemed like the head receptionist was very friendly and helpful.
Review 102:went for meal one evening and service a bit haphazard. food was good but slow. sent back steak twice because meat was too red, eventually was given a different one. was disapointed with it.
Review 103:location and conveniece to town. staff very helpfull.
Review 104:Road noise - we had a room at the front and it was very noisy with cars etc - probably best to ask for room at the back.
Review 105:Excellent value for money and very comfy bed - we didn't choose premiere room as only there 2 nights but room was great and bed (double) was so comfortable.
Review 106:Evening menu did not change during our stay and wifi was virtually unobtainable in out room.
Review 107:Staff help and friendly, evening meals very well presented
Review 108:Only moan is that the menu did not change in our four night stay. The outside pool area was a bit messy.
Review 109:Staff very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Large rooms with comfortable beds and plenty of storage space. Food dinner and breakfast was excellent. Lovely bar and restaurant area with a nice atmosphere.
Review 110:- Big gaps between the windows and their frames let the cold and noise enter the room. - We were awake at 5.30 am by the traffic and during the night as well by people shouting outside. - In March with 2 degrees at night, the central heating system is off. So we only had a portable electric heater to warm up the room. - No heater for the bathroom! So we had quite invigorating showers... Nothing to dry towels either. - Very poor noise isolation between rooms: we could clearly hear the full phone conversations of the neighbour at 7.30 am. - Very unreliable wi-fi. - The breakfast is average with poor quality jam.
Review 111:The room was clean. The lounge/restaurant of the hotel is nice. The staff was helpful and had the right reaction when we reported issues.
Review 112:Hotel has a terrible atmosphere because of staff bot interesten at all. Hotel is not in the center.,but a good twenty minutes walk. For me personally unbelievable why this hotel gets high rates!
Review 113:Room small but ok. Bed ok. Breakfast ok.
Review 114:Shower turning periodically hot and cold. Not soundproof rooms. Could hear everything in the next room, outside and above.
Review 115:Good sized room and bathroom. Warm close to town
Review 116:This hotel is great because of its friendly staff. The facilities were very clean and the hotel is in an excellent location to visit St Heliers or the island. Bonus is the free parking. The restaurant served good food (both breakfast and dinner) and presents good value.
Review 117:Room was very bright at night due to the fluorescent lights shining from the car park making it difficult to sleep.
Review 118:Great food in the resteraunt and easy parking.
Review 119:This hotel provides all the basic needs for a stay in St Helier. Everything is clean and comfortable, there is a good breakfast service and the staff are very helpful and friendly. I stayed in the winter time when there are few guests so it was quiet and factilities such as the pool were not in use. All the basics are covered in a no frills way.
Review 120:The only slight downside was that it was a bit of a walk into the centre...for most people this would not be a problem at all.
Review 121:The staff were really friendly, the room was clean and tidy and serviced every day. The breakfast was fabulous
Review 122:Nothing.
Review 123:Relaxed atmosphere. Excellent staff, especially the lady on reception who went out of her way to help us. Not sure of her name, but she was on duty the two mornings we were there.
Review 124:Our only criticism is that the room were very cold. The room attendant very quickly when asked bought us a heater. Then we felt a lot happier and warmer. On the whole a very enjoyable stay. Thank you
Review 125:Very nice clean large room. Friendly staff and very nice large range of quality Breakfast. We hope to return again soon.
Review 126:bed to soft for us as we are used to a hard bed. this is personal. otherwise nothing to complain about.
Review 127:service and breakfast very good. staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 128:The decor in the bathroom is a little tired could do with a spruce up.
Review 129:The staff are friendly and very helpful. The food in the restaurant was really good.
Review 130:It was clean, free wifi, had bar and food, close to town centre, have already booked again for next month. They also upgraded our room which was nice.
Review 131:The wifi could be unreliable, especially in the bar.
Review 132:Food. The chef, Joe Baugh is insanely talented at such a young age. I normally make a point of eating away from the hotel I stay, but I had dinner here each night. Staff. Nearly all the staff were friendly and helpful, including the owner. Special credit especially to the night porter and bar staff. The little things. Little gestures mean a lot, like loaning an umbrella without me asking.
Review 133:There was nothing to dislike.
Review 134:We liked everything about this hotel. It was extremely comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast and dinner were excellent.
Review 135:Room 15 was directly above the bar area and it was extremely noisy in my kids' room. I complained to reception when it became louder at 11pm. Had to drag pram up outside steps and first flight of steps to 1st floor as lift not accessible on ground floor - receptionist watched me do this so assume there was no other option. As well as the receptionist, one of the restaurant staff was particularly unfriendly and quite rude.
Review 136:Family room was very good in terms of cleanliness and presentation. Room divided into bedrooms, which is unusual in my experience and very good.
