Reviews for Citotel Hotel de France
Review 1:The hotel is lovely and the staff very friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. The only downside was the poor quality pillows!
Review 2:The location is very good, close to free parking and shops, restaurants etc
Review 3:The WiFi system is restrictive
Review 4:Nothing was too much trouble, caring, friendly couple managing hotel. Handy location for Rochefort town and restaurants. Large rooms, modern renovation style.
Review 5:Nothing
Review 6:Super helpful and friendly staff (owners). Place is clean, comfy beds, free parking nearby, great breakfast. We liked the place so much we stayed an extra night. The location is prefect, centrally located, lots of restaurants and bars nearby. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again
Review 7:Everything (except the stairs). The owners are first class and run a comfortable and clean hotel with a superb breakfast array. They are helpful to the extent they offered to vacate their own garage to park our car. Parking is freely available close by.
Review 8:Being a historical site they said they could not remove the staircase, but walking up 4 flights was difficult for us. The owner and his kids carried up our luggage though!
Review 9:On the outside, we were unsure, but inside it's really cute. The owners (family) were so sweet and nice and helpful!! The breakfast was awesome.
Review 10:Wifi unreliable on a couple of occasions
Review 11:Superb value for money. Quirky rooms each one different. Great spot for sightseeing in this area. Far nicer than La Rochelle!
Review 12:Our toilet was in a cupboard on one side of our room while the sink and shower were on the other side - not very convenient at night!
Review 13:The owners have made a great job of turning a basic hotel into something a bit more. They provide welcoming touches like swan- sculptured towels and a free body scrub. The breakfast was fantastic and kept us going all day, though it wasn't cheap.
Review 14:The room was very hot with no air conditioning made sleeping a bit uncomfortable. There were a lot of stairs, so if you were on the top floor and had large bags it could have been a bit annoying.
Review 15:The location was great, right in the middle of the town with a massive free public car park just a few meters away. The owners were great, very helpful and had tried really hard to make this old hotel modern with interesting decor. The bathroom and room was very clean. Breakfast was great and nothing was rushed, a great selection of food.
Review 16:Not staying another night!
Review 17:Friendly welcoming owners and staff. Fresh bright decor, everything spotless, good room, excellent en suite facilities, lovely large comfortable bed and bedding. Excellent breakfast spread. Cycling friendly.
Review 18:Owners dog sniffing around breakfast room. However when owner spotted this she took dog away.
Review 19:Staff, big room, central position, bike storage, breakfast, folded towels in room.
Review 20:Bathroom rather small. Confusion with hotel name displayed outside building - different from that shown on booking - thought we had the wrong hotel.
Review 21:Helpful and friendly proprietors. Hotel with charm & character. Quiet and comfortable room. Good breakfasts. Good walk-in shower.
Review 22:The room was fine except that it was on the third floor with no lift and we had been cycling all day. However, we had only booked that morning so there wasn't any choice and we managed without problem.
Review 23:They accommodated our bikes in an ideal place, Delphine was a lovely and helpful 'hostess' . There were creative touches, especially the towel sculptures, showing just a little extra care.
Review 24:Friendly staff, nice decoration, big rooms, cleanliness, breakfast
Review 25:Waking up to the smell of fresh bread baking at the bakery next door was delightful. Very well located with everything within walking distance.
Review 26:Wi-Fi didn't work in our room but OK in friends room. Smell in the bathroom.

Review 49:Room on third floor with no lift
Review 50:Central location Free parking nearby Attentive staff Good breakfast
Review 51:fantastic breakfast, close to all attractions
Review 52:It was very hot weather, and we were on the third floor which was very warm. Every effort was made to make our stay more comfortable, but without air conditioning, this was impossible. The room remained quite hot. The stairs were also quite steep.
Review 53:We were made to feel very welcome, and were shown to our room by Delphine. Breakfast was excellent with a large choice of foods. Everything was super clean and little things like tissues were supplied. We also were given a pedestal fan, and our windows were opened for us to try to cool the room.
Review 54:Parking was in a public parking area away from the hotel. There were lots of stairs at the hotel, no good for anyone with heavy luggage!
Review 55:The rooms at the hotel were comfortable and clean. The staff were helpful and the hotel was fairly central.
Review 56:No tea and coffee facilities although we we're given a pot of hot water to take to our room on asking. Very hot in the room and no facilities to cool down.
Review 57:The breakfast is just amazing. You won't want for anything else in a continental breakfast. Very friendly and helpful owners. Look out for the animal towel displays just fab!!
Review 58:This hotel has no elevator, and it was really difficult because of our heavy luggage.
Review 59:Nice view with the old post building. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. And the room was clean and comfortable. Good value for this money, I think.
Review 60:Too bad the wifi did not work in our room (but it was possible to get a connection downstairs).
Review 61:Well-located, nice decoration and friendly owners. We had such a nice time in Rochefort!
Review 62:Well they said there was parking nearbye and there certainly was, rightnext to the Office de Tourisme and enough for thousands of cars, justacross from the hotel. A lovely welcome from friendly staff this hotelwas well placed for tourists. We were escorted upstairs by the ownerhaving driven down through the Marais Poitevin on a very warm day. Therewas a swan made from two bath towels on the bed, one of threetowelanimals we spotted. The room was a decent size, clean and newly andfashionably decorated. The bed was comfortable and we both had a goodnights sleep. Breakfast was buffet style an pretty good value. We leftthinking that it would be a really decent place to stay when passingthrough next time. Inexpensive and well placed in the city. Theproprietors certainly made every effort to make us welcome even thoughwe were only there for one night.
Review 63:Ticks absolutely all the boxes. Easy to find, right in the centre of town, yet quiet and with free parking nearby. The owners will do everything to make you feel at home. Perfectly stocked breakfast. How come they only have two stars?
Review 64:Third floor room without a lift was a bit tough after a long day on the bike! The weather was very hot and the room at the top of the hotel was too hot for the portable air conditioner
Review 65:Friendly welcome from all staff. Bike friendly attitude, good secure storage room. Good central location for restaurants Nice clean room and bathroom and comfortable beds. Slept very well.
Review 66:This is a jewel of a two-star....can't even believe it is a two stars. Everything was perfect and the room was very roomy and comfortable. Had great view of an unbelievable thunderstorm. Highly recommend this hotel.
Review 67:The decor in reception, though clean and smart seemed a bit out of keeping with the old building !!!!!!
Review 68:Good central location, across the road from the free car park ,otherwise parking on the street is payable and difficult.Owners very friendly and helpful.our room had recently been refurbished and was a good size and well equiped, though the rooms at the back would be quieter and cooler.Plenty of resturants within a few minutes walk.A nice place to stay in an interesting town
