Reviews for Maison Orsini
Review 1:From the moment I booked my trip I knew this place was going to be great!! Xavier and his staff were amazing, the place was like being in a dream and the views off the chart! Thank you for such a lovely stay!!! Jacqueline BTW, the breakfast was great too!!
Review 2:We had a lovely stay, this is a beautiful and historic property with wonderful gardens and views. We ate our breakfast next to the log fire. Staff very helpful and knowledgable about the local area and its history.
Review 3:No hand grip in the bathtub for us old people
Review 4:Falco and his staff were extremely friendly and helpful. No elevator but Falco carried our luggage to our room and back to the car when we left. Breakfast was great, the eggs in particular. Easy walking distance to Avignon. Bus #5 close by if you prefer. Parking on site. A wonderful, old facility, clean ,well maintained with a nice common area to rest in after a long tourist day.
Review 5:Beautiful location overlooking the Popes Palace and old town. Excellent breakfast with lovely breads etc. Far reaching views from the terrace as far as Mont Ventoux. Staff were very helpful and always available but discreet at the same time.
Review 6:Quiet location with great ambiance and character. Extremely gracious and helpful host. Very good restaurants within walking distance. The Blue Room is spacious, private and comfortable.
Review 7:We had a bedroom in the house, it was more on the shabby side. The position of the bathroom was difficult to get to in the night. Also felt the buffet breakfast should have covers on to keep the flies off the food. This is constructive advice.
Review 8:The location was absolutely stunning. Just perfect for being just outside Avignon. The staff extremely efficient and pleasant.
Review 9:Exceptionally tasteful renovation of authentic ancient structures feels like living in history. Will not be right for someone who needs the modern appointments of a Marriott, but gorgeous views, spacious rooms, sumptuous breakfasts, and the most friendly, helpful, courteous staff.
Review 10:A bit of noise between rooms, but just on one night with a noisy American group. Mosquitos - bring plug ins and repellant!
Review 11:The vintage champagne awaiting our arrival as newlyweds was so lovely!
Review 12:This is a lovely B&B, but could be improved by more breakfast choices. We stayed 7 days and were over cereal, bread ham and cheese by the end of the stay. Compared to other B&B's where there was a choice and variety of fresh produce.
Review 13:A great location, overlooking the Palace of the Popes, an easy 30 minute walk across the Rhone. Xavier and Falco were great hosts, and Falco's suggestions of places to visit were spot on.We just got the feeling that they were coming to the end of their tourist season and were a bit jaded. Attention to detail was lacking and fresh bed linen would have been nice. Waking up each morning to the magnificent view was a highlight.
Review 14:WiFi worked well enough - although it was weak - we had to be in a certain part of the room to have enough signal. I know they are making plans to improve the wifi. I would stay there again though without hesitation! We were able to do all we needed - it was just a bit of adjustment.
Review 15:Friendly, accommodating, helpful family run space - well maintained, welcoming, with a view that is astounding. Sweet moments. Lovely courtyard garden, fresh pastries in the morning, secure parking, good suggestions for sightseeing.
Review 16:The owner and family are very friendly and speak English and Other languages. We got good guidance on the area and all The owner and family are very friendly and speak English and Other languages. We got good guidance on the area and all our questions where happily answered. We loved eating breakfast on the terrace. There is a good parking space which is important in the city. The location is superb. We will recommend to all our friends
Review 17:I liked the view, the beds, the terrace. The people were nice and helpful, the ambiance looks medieval, but the place has all the comfort of a modern hotel.
Review 18:Minor point but the wifi code in our room didn't work. It worked in the rest of our hotel.
Review 19:The beautiful hotel, the view and the wonderfully helpful staff. Very close to lots of attractions and restaurants.
Review 20:Exquisite acomodation, just across the river,an historic building with beautiful view from the breakfast terrace to Avignon. Very good facilities, bathroom quirky, but OK,very nice touch - the pool across the street, secure parking.
Review 21:It was really amazing to stay there. Staffs were friendly and the breakfast was great. I personally am a fan of the antique style environment. Much better than standard hotels.
Review 22:The whole property was beautiful. The interiors were nicely decorated and the gardens were lovely. Lots of places to sit, enjoy a glass of wine and take in the amazing views. The hosts were friendly and offered helpful travel and restaurant suggestions. Would definitely stay here again if I return to the area.
Review 23:I did not like leaving :(
Review 24:I liked EVERYTHING about Maison Orsini except that they did not have room for us to stay an extra night after we discovered that it exceeded all expectations :( The rooms are gorgeous, the view incredible and breakfast was simple but lovely. Ann-Marie greeted us at 1am after we arrived much later than expected and was wonderfully friendly & helpful. The pool was a bonus in the sweltering heat wave and I cannot fault any aspect of the service or facilities (although internet was a little dodgy). I would stay again & again. easily the best accommodation I have had in my many trips to France!
Review 25:We really loved everything and would stay here again.
Review 26:Fantastic location with easy access to Avignon but in a quieter, relaxing, gorgeous village with amazing views of the river and Avignon. It was a delight to wind down here after a busy day in Avignon. Delicious, healthy breakfast. Wonderful, helpful owner.
Review 27:Car park is narrow and difficult to park, swimming pool is at outside. Kitchen is a bit dirty, and facilities is old.
Review 28:Toilet is very clean and comfortable. Breakfast is very comfortable.
Review 29:No bad experience whatsoever. The only trick is finding the hotel. Make sure you note the address, as there is no sign.
Review 30:This is a wonderful hotel, beautifully located and tastefully decorated. We had a room overlooking the Rhone River with a view of the Palais des Papes and old Avignon - even from the bathtub. It was a 2-room suite, very spacious and comfortable. The gardens were charming, and we sat there for the plentiful, fresh breakfast. We really fell in love with this place, and enjoyed discovering old Villeneuve les Avignons, which has charming streets, restaurant/cafes, and historic sites. We also enjoyed the use of the hotel's pool and its small parking area.
Review 31:We liked everything!
Review 32:A lovely large room with a view over the Rhone and Avignon. Much better than staying in Avignon. Breakfast was served on the terrace (or inside in a beautifully furnished breakfast room if it's wet) with the best view of Avignon and the Rhone you could hope for.Breakfast was buffet style with everything you could possibly want. The owners were really interesting to talk to ( they speak good English ) and very helpful with advice on things to see.
Review 33:This is a charming older place, so there is an older place smell to it. You get used to it quickly. For visiting Avignon it is more convenient to stay in City, you have to drive if you stay at Maison Orsini.
Review 34:There is a lovely entrance courtyard with a terrace that offers breathtaking views of Avignon. Bring charcuterie, bread and wine and enjoy! The staff and breakfast were wonderful.
Review 35:We were without aircon when it broke down over the (very hot) weekend and no service engineer was available. No TV (this might have been a good thing).
Review 36:Location and view from our private terrace, well equipped mini kitchen, very helpful staff, excellent WIFI, nice pool.
Review 37:Nothing abd to report.
Review 38:Maison Orsini provides a calm oasis away from the hubbub of Avignon centre. Wonderful views across the Rhone to Palais des Papes frrom the patio area. Historic 14th C. house and buildings with fine garden and colourful plants ( amazing lemons!!).A great place to start our hoilday in S.France.
Review 39:Hosts Folco & Xavier provided a very memorable stay in Villeneuve-les-Avignon. The comfortable room had amazing views, the breakfast was scrumptious and the hosts were always very accommodating with any requests.
Review 40:The views are breath-taking, the house is a stunning old style and very cosy, perfectly situated for getting to Avignon and to local restaurants in Villeneuve (you must try Aubergine restaurant). Staff are amazing friendly people. We had a fantastic stay.
Review 41:This B&B is located near a bus stop, so it's easy to come from Avignon. We can see the beautiful view on the garden of this B&B. Staffs are so friendly, we aren't good at English, but they speak English very kind. It's very comfortable to stay here.
Review 42:Xavier is the most charming and accommodating host. His Maison is beyond wonderful and when you enter it's courtyard you enter a secret garden and are transported back in time. The views of Avignon and palais du papes are gorgeous and you will want to sit there for hours enjoying the scenery. The rooms are beautifully decorated wih much of Xavier's artwork on display. Breakfast is delicious and they even accommodated my gluten free allergy with fresh baked bread (ask in advance). I cannot recommend this highly enough. Though we only stayed for one night I would recommend a longer stay as you will not want to leave!!
Review 43:Warm reception, excellent orientation to facilities, historic building and area, great breakfast, beautiful setting, lots of room in suite, dining room, etc.
Review 44:Would be nice if had a shower instead of just a bath tub. Maybe a radio or TV
Review 45:Views from the garden area are breathless. The building is full of character.
Review 46:Short answer:everything! We saw the place last year.. Its location (nicely situated outside the loud city and still in walking distance to the popes palace , 30minutes ) . A charming well restored old building with tasteful interior design, offering a contemplating atmosphere as well in the salon at the fire place as in the nice garden while sitting on the veranda under an olive tree overlooking the river Rhône and the palais -des -papes ..' Exceptionell'
Review 47:We would have preferred a shower in our house instead of the bath. Sometimes older people have problems getting in and out of a bath.
Review 48:The location of this old restored residence is ideal for a visit to Avignon, being across the river with a magnificent view of the Pope's Palace and with in walking distance of the Villeneuve village. Parking is available which was very important for us. The owner, Xavier, is very hospitable and friendly. I would advise a stay here to anyone.
Review 49:Room keys Accessories in bathroom
Review 50:Very nice house garden , excellent location. Owner and staff are very responsive. Nice breakfast. Great value for Money. Room Keys are a bit annoying.
Review 51:no negatives
Review 52:The house is a very old maison bourgois that has been kept and renovated over the years in keeping with the style of the town. The house is full of wonderful antique furniture and curiosities. The breakfast was excellent and well presented. The owner was ever so helpful and caring. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a longer stay.
Review 53:The only issue is that the stairway getting to the second floor is narrow and steep. Not a problem for us, but maybe for some. Xaivier is working on adding exterior staircases which allow for easier access.
Review 54:Maison Orsini was just perfect! The Maison is a converted 14th Century Cardinal's Palace. The charm and character in staying in a place with such history was wonderful! Our room looked out over the Rhone River. The beds were great, the bathroom with an old fashioned tub was lovely and the breakfast was delicious! Xaivier, our host was terrific!
Review 55:Everything. The rooms wre great and had so much character. The Hosts were very friendly and the staff were amazing and always ready to help. Breakfast looking out of 13th century windows over the river to Avignon was a memory we will always have.
Review 56:Just across the river from busy Avignon, the location was quiet and lovely. The views of Avignon and the Papal palace are amazing. Breakfast was wonderful.
Review 57:Having to cross the hallway to our bathroom Steep narrow stairs to get to our room which is not good for elderly customers
Review 58:Location Size and comfort of the bedroom Friendly helpful staff Ambiance of the accommodation and the beautiful setting and views.
Review 59:Maybe a non-transparent curtain in front of the bathroom window...but other than that everything was perfect.
Review 60:the staff was very welcoming and helpful. The house, the room and the garden etc. was beutiful and well taken care of...convenient location in Villeneuve. One of the best accommodations during our 3 week trip through France and Italy. Highly recommended!
Review 61:Beware of mosquitoes!
Review 62:Maison Orsini oozes charm and character and is a gem waiting to be discovered. Situated on the out skirts of Avignon it commands wonderful views of the city combined with easy access into the centre. Good quality restaurants within easy walking distance. The owners were extremely friendly and helpful and added to the pleasure of our stay. More than one night would be needed to appreciate the charms of this establishment.
Review 63:Everything. Maison Orsini is simply a perfect accommodation. It is a beautiful house in a charming town with a super kind and helpful host. We got support with organizing dinners, wine tastings or simply getting a tip where to go to a good market. This is the recipe for a perfect stay :)
Review 64:Nothing
Review 65:Xavier was a wonderful host. He was extremely friendly and went out of his way to make our stay perfect. Also he gave us great advice on where to visit each morning after lovely breakfast. The villa is absolutely beautiful and has amazing views of Avignon across the river, but Villeneuve-les-Avignon is a gorgeous town itself. We had a wonderful time here and would highly recommend it!
Review 66:There isn't much we didn't like
Review 67:The house is beautiful It's across the river from Avignon, so it's quiet Very good breakfast Peaceful
Review 68:Nothing.
Review 69:If you want to be in a old building and way from the crowds this is it. Across the Rhone river in the village of Avigion, this is a perfect place to see the old village and enjoy a good meal.
Review 70:Aircon would be noisy in the bedroom, but it wasn't needed, so the score remains excellent:-)
Review 71:The friendly welcome and assistance with the luggage, booking a restaurant for us on a late arrival, great grand mansion atmosphere, large comfortable rooms well appointed, amazing surprise views across the river to the Pope Palace in the morning, good quality breakfast, friendly travel advice and assistance with luggage upon departure. Thanks v much, hope to return soon.
Review 72:Due to the age of the building the steep stairs were a slight issue with small children, but this is part of the charm of the place so you just have to be careful when going up and down.
Review 73:The beautiful old building and very stylish decor. Great bathroom with lovely windows looking out onto a courtyard scented with herbs.
Review 74:My Parents, Husband and I stayed at Maison Orsini for 2 nights. We booked 2 suites located in the Pamparigouste ( separate building from main house) and the ground floor suite in particular was just fab with terrace looking over the river to the Palais des Papes, perfect for breakfast and evening drinks. Xavier was so welcoming and helpful, the perfect host. Maison Orsini was a great find, perfect base to explore Avignon and surrounding area.
Review 75:the entrance stairs to the second floor in my room and lots of sculpture.
Review 76:Perfect view! Very good locationa that you can enjoy the view and also convenient to go to Avignon.
Review 77:Nothing at all.
Review 78:The mansion is amazing! And the owner is extremely helpful. Me and myparents are driving this time(our first time in Europe) and we did nothave a detailed plan about our trip in Provence. But the owner gave uslots of excellent advice--he absolutely is an expert of the area and haslots of books about Provence. I would recommend mansion orsini toeveryone who is visiting the area.
Review 79:Beautifully renovated shabby chic B&B with a stunning view of Avignon. Very helpful owners & had a great time over the Avignon festival... Peaceful haven close to the busy town.
Review 80:Not so suitable to older or disabled people as there is a very steep staircase (think ladder) to get to the first floor. Let them know if this applies to you as one of the rooms has a staircase up to a balcony on the outside of the building so you would want that room. The room we were in had no shower curtain and the walls weren't tiled so if you want to have a shower you have to sit down!
Review 81:Beautiful views over the Palace of the Popes Short walk to lots of good restaurants and bars Walkable to Avignon centre (or there is a free shuttle bus) Charming rustic building and courtyard Friendly, helpful staff/owners (The owners speak fluent English) Swimming pool Good (French) breakfast
Review 82:As always when travelling in France - kettle and tea and coffee making facilities would be good but are never supplied - we know this is normal
Review 83:Breakfast was lovely and the accommodation full of character. Hosts very helpful and accommodating. Lovely to be able to bring our small dog along.
Review 84:The room was quite stuffy. The stairs that lead to rooms are very steep (hard to bring the suitcase up, although the stuff was really helpful!)
Review 85:Breakfast was all homemade and fresh! With enough stuff to choose from including ham, croissants, yogurts and fruit. The owners were very kind. The room was clean and spacious!
Review 86:Friendly helpful hosts, breakfast and breakfast room were excellent and the fireplace added atmosphere on the cool mornings
