Reviews for Westwood Guest House

Review 1:Apart from one night we were the only guests. Not sufficient easy parking for a full house.

Review 2:Great service from Eva. Nice room with views. Good breakfast.

Review 3:The room must have been above the kitchen and the smell of frying did linger a bit in the room.

Review 4:We were extremely well looked after (wonderful fruit salads) and given all the information we needed. Very comfortable stay.

Review 5:Tiles in bathroom looked slightly grubby with mould. I was worried at leaving car keys in box in dining room as risk of theft and theft of my car. Landlady needed these as parking involved cars blocking other cars in. I wondered if she was insured for damage to guests cars and any RTA accidents on the public highway or damage to other guests cars? Plastic tree in the conservatory; would look better with a real palm tree. Not keen having dogs roaming around in dining room as I am allergic to dogs. A bit expensive for room we had but presume paying for location.

Review 6:The landlady was fab, very helpful and cheerful. The room was very nice but a little crampt. Parking at B&B. Closeness to centre of town. Great choice for breakfast, plentiful and of good quantity & quality. Bathroom and shower spacious and hot water straight away. Great view from bedroom with balcony. Very good info pack provided prior to visit. Lyme Regis is such a lovely place with good shops, beach, cafes, pubs, walking, cycling etc.

Review 7:Long uphill walk back from the town is not a problem for the fit person, but maybe for some.

Review 8:Very comfortable room and bed. Breakfasts excellent. Very helpful staff in advising on local sights of interest.

Review 9:All in all very good but some aspects of room could do with some TLC. Bathroom light cord very grubby and tiles in shower could do with a bleach.

Review 10:I liked the location, breakfast was excellent and host very friendly.

Review 11:We didn't realised that we booked a very small room. It had a terrace and stunning views, but due to the size of the room, we felt a bit claustrophobic. Next time we make sure we book a bigger room, as I have been shown the other rooms ( who are well worth the money!).

Review 12:We liked the surroundings and the beautiful view. The owner was very friendly and hospitable, she gave us a lot of useful information.

Review 13:It was a fabulous comfortable stay, excellent location and host was very helpful and friendly. The Breakfast was lovely, fresh fruit, was beautiful as well as full English. Great room and relaxing atmosphere.

Review 14:Location far from ideal if walking into town. Lyme Regis is known for its steep slopes down to the town & harbour. Westwood is quite high up & while the walk down is ok, walking back is only for those without mobility problems. Expensive.

Review 15:Lavinia has spent a great deal of time & trouble ensuring that this accommodation is superb. The decor reflects her own impeccable tastes. Breakfast superb. Parking adequate.

Review 16:Lyme Regis hillier than expected,

Review 17:The owner Lavinia and her staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive. Beautifully decorated guest house, with good facilities in the rooms. She also advised us about the local area

Review 18:No bad experience but we didn't find the wifi connection very good - it was intermittent. However, this could be a feature for the whole area and not just the hotel.

Review 19:Lovely room with a larger than normal en-suite and a sea view. great choice of breakfast dishes. Very warm welcome. Plenty of storage in the room if needed.

Review 20:didn't dislike anything

Review 21:Very warm friendly welcome with helpful information about area, restaurants etc, from Lavinia, nothing too much trouble. First class accommodation, clean, tastefully decorated, excellent extensive breakfast menu. Great location with superb views. Highly recommend.

Review 22:The location was perfect and Lavinia was a great host and very accommodating, allowing me to stay at the guest house until later on in the afternoon when I was able to move on to my next accommodation. The breakfast was fantastic too.

Review 23:Great location with stunning views. The breakfast room was warm and welcoming as was the delicious food served. Staff were all friendly and helpful and we totally enjoyed our stay at Weswood in Lyme Regis.

Review 24:Excellent host and staff. Every attention to detail catered for, was made to feel welcome and at home throughout our stay Lavinia has an amazing location for her B and B and we would recommend it highly.

Review 25:The fact that we paid cash for our stay and the owner Lavinia said she would leave our change in the room and we never received the change. Had trouble with the Wifi on arrival and Lavinia was very rude and abrupt when asked for help with resolving the issue.

Review 26:The room was nice and and the bed was very comfortable. Nice B&B could not fault the place or location, the only issue was the owner Lavinia, if not there would be ideal to stay again.

Review 27:A fabulous place to stay with fantastic views over Lyme Regis and the coastline. Spacious and comfortable room with lovely décor. Breakfast was delicious with the added bonus of a seaview. Friendly and helpful host would definitely recommend.

Review 28:A minor point, but the sausages were a little bland. Otherwise all good.

Review 29:Friendly team but not imposing, told us everything we needed to know about LR. Good to have alternatives to the FEB such as kippers and haddock.

Review 30:We had a 'standard' room which was rather small. Book a larger room if affordable.

Review 31:Well located. Large choice for breakfast. Good was of high quality and very well cooked.

Review 32:Our room was beautiful, no sea view but we don't spend much time indoors. The breakfast room has a glorious view over the bay, a splendid way to start your day with an equally glorious breakfast menu! The food was top class, sets you up for the day!

Review 33:Some road noise early in the morning was somewhat loud although the view out of the room definitely made up for it!

Review 34:The owner was very friendly and helpful! The room was very nice and newly renovated and decorated!

Review 35:Only downside was that the tiles in the shower needed cleaned/re-grouted.

Review 36:Room was beautiful. Breakfast on the balcony was superb. Owner and staff were very friendly.

Review 37:That the time went to quickly.

Review 38:The whole place was really lovely but what made this great place was its views. We both had a very relaxing stay and will be going back.

Review 39:Lovely clean room with decking / terrace giving view towards sea / golden cap area where you can breakfast outside if you wish. Nice clean bathroom. Very tasty breakfast with varied selection using fresh local produce. Host is most welcoming and informative, staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 40:Good walk to the beach. Not too bad going but all up hill coming back. Probably not the perfect location for someone with mobility problems.

Review 41:Comfortable well furnished room. Exceptionally clean. Breakfast was delicious. All in all a perfect place to stay if you're visiting Lyme Regis.

Review 42:Nothing to dislike

Review 43:Very warm and friendly welcome. Good, quiet location, well placed for access to all of Lyme Regis. Room was lovely with a view of the sea in the distance. Nice touches such as fresh milk in the fridge, biscuits and chocolate mints. Owner very helpful and informative. Would definitely stop again.

Review 44:Nothing

Review 45:We were within easy walking distance of Lyme Regis and given local info on arrival that was very helpful. Everyone was welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Lots of options for breakfast which was of a high standard.

Review 46:The breakfast order took about half an hour after being seated to be taken from us, and it did take about another half hour to be served to us.

Review 47:Rooms were gorgeous!

Review 48:Very small point ,but breaktfast could be 8am to 9.30 to ease the pressure on staff.

Review 49:The fact we could come and go as we pleased and were trusted to do so. Also the staff were exceptionally good

Review 50:Lavinia was very accommodating and made us feel very welcome. The guest house is beautiful and spotlessly clean. Lots of choice for breakfast which was very good.

Review 51:Our room was pokey. My husband not enamoured with the breakfast. I thought it was okay. Great to have Eggs Benedict on menu but did not like the Bagels with it.

Review 52:Location, hostess, parking, décor, exceptionally quiet

Review 53:The comfort, cleanliness, food, staff, parking, no complaints whatsoever. A very warm welcome with plenty of information about the area which helped enormously.

Review 54:The whole stay was excellent. The room, facilities and whole experience was very relaxing. The breakfast one of the best I've had at any guest house.

Review 55:Lavinia is a wonderful host, full of information about Lyme Regis, where to go, what to do etc. Excellent Breakfast in the large light & airy conservatory was a real treat. Fabulous views of the sea from our terrace...great spot for a pre- dinner drink,

Review 56:Local restaurants are a bit of a hike due to the B&B location but can't have great views without hills! Beware they are very steep and most of the eateries were at the bottom. Good way to burn off that extra helping or pudding?

Review 57:Lovely views over the bay. Very comfortable bed. Plenty of Tea & Coffee making facilities in the room with fresh milk replaced daily.

Review 58:Steep hills made it a bit tricky to park but that's hardly their fault in our tiny car!

Review 59:We've spent a lot of time in Dorset over the years and Westwood is by far the nicest place we've stayed at. Plus the beds are the most comfortable I've ever slept in!

Review 60:It's very difficult to find fault, so this is really nitpicking, but it would have been handy to have a bottle opener in the room.

Review 61:The room we stayed in was really comfortable – I don't think we've ever slept so well in a hotel or B&B bed. The breakfast was excellent, and so were the views.

Review 62:Due to limited car parking space, car keys have to be left in an unlocked box in the communal living room so the landlady can move cars around if needed (she has insurance), which we weren't told about beforehand. The room was a bit small for a 'luxury' room, the TV was oddly positioned on the wall and there was no DVD player. Our room supposedly had a private balcony, but it was ground level, very small, and opened straight onto the entrance path, making it not very private at all. I think we caught the landlady on a bad day - our reception was not professional and we were treated like children. And her dog was wandering round at breakfast too.

Review 63:The bathroom was very nicely decorated, and the dining area in the conservatory was very nice with excellent views towards the town and the sea. Useful to have a small private fridge in our room.

Review 64:Breakfast was exceptional; freshly cooked and plentiful. Nothing was too much trouble. Standard addition of tea and hot chocolate with added bonus of fresh milk in the fridge. Rooms tastefully decorated with nice personal touches. Nice to wake up to a sea view. Easy walking distance to seafront.

Review 65:Well looked after by our host Lavinia and we had been provided with directions and information re the area well before we arrived. Even the tight car park was managed for us.

Review 66:Additional lighting around the dressing table would be useful when using the hair dryer

Review 67:The guest house is at the top of the town so the views are outstanding. but if you have limited mobility this can be a problem as the hills in the town are so steep. The bedroom was large and tastefully furnished and the bathroom was superb.Lavinia was there to great us and was so friendly. The breakfast was excellent witha great choiceof food

Review 68:Our bedroom was rather cramped and the bathroom needed updating as their was mold in the shower and the door enclosure didn`t shut very easily.

Review 69:Lavinia went out of her way to ensure her guests enjoyed their stay and was so helpful and very friendly. The beds were very comfortable and breakfasts delicious with plenty of choice

Review 70:Would have appreciated more drawer space.

Review 71:Bed - more comfortable than our own. Room decor - 4-5* std Fridge Atmosphere - calm and relaxed Efficiency of staff and owner Breakfast - scrumptious with variety Price (1/3 of nearby 4* with same standards). Garden with seating Overall feeling of safety, security and welcome.

Review 72:Steep walk up the hill back to the Guest house, but a bus is available if wishing not to walk back.

Review 73:Very friendly welcome.Very comfortable room with lovely decor. Lovely bathroom with a good shower. Superb views from our bedroom window. Tea & coffee facilities with fresh milk. Fridge in room. Good English breakfast.

Review 74:Noisy refridgerator. No bath just a shower. Room was cramped with furniture. Made to feel uncomfortable when a a receipt for payment was requested.

Review 75:We asked for a quiet room which we had though we could still hear the refridgerator in the cupboard next to the bed. King size bed. Good breakfast.

Review 76:My sister and I stayed for the weekend and liked everything about Westwood Guest House. Very clean, comfortable and food delicious. Had a fabulous weekend. Will definitely be going back.

Review 77:At the top of a very steep hill a return from the seafront is by an infrequent taxi service. Beds were comfy but both pillows over-stuffed.

Review 78:A very good B&B. Good selection of breakfasts. Pleasantly scented towels. And A Hostess with the Mostest who is helpful and attentive

Review 79:There was a warm welcome, comfortable room with all facilities, and the breakfast was a delight. A wide variety on the menu and all well cooked. The accommodation made our holiday so much better.

Review 80:The location and the ability to walk into town easily. A secure area for car and personal belongings Lovely landlady who took the trouble to explain what was interesting about the area

Review 81:There was nothing we didn't like about this guest house.

Review 82:From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The staff were available but not in your face.

Review 83:The daily climb up from the sea front, although good for general fitness can be quite gruelling in hot weather.

Review 84:Lavinia was a warm and friendly hostess and nothing was too much trouble for her.

Review 85:Long, Noisy Skype/telephone conversations by landlady on terrace outside guest bedrooms so had to keep windows shut for peace and quiet on warm afternoons!

Review 86:Beautiful views of bay, lovely room and house full of interesting art from around the world. Eating breakfast on outdoor terrace in sunshine

Review 87:This the best b & b place to stay in the UK. Lavinia, the hostess, was friendly but unobtrusive. We stayed in the amethyst room for 3 nights, which was sheer luxury. Breakfasts were brilliant, location great and room from view excllent. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Review 88:Room a bit small Parking awkward Remarks on the information folder re. how the visitors should behave,it would be sufficient to ask people to respect the house and treat it as they would their own home.

Review 89:Decor of the room Good breakfast Pleasant staff and landlady

Review 90:It was at a very high standered I would class it as a 5star

Review 91:Good breakfast , clean room

Review 92:Wanted to change the room we had booked to a different room. This was no problem.

Review 93:Could not be more helpful.

Review 94:Very helpful staff.

Review 95:Parking not easy!

Review 96:Lovely room Good breakfast

Review 97:Lavinia was an excellent host, the guest house was beautifully presented & it was in a lovely spot with sea views.

Review 98:Norhing

Review 99:Great welcome, very attentive to our needs

Review 100:tight parking

Review 101:nice vew from dinning room

Review 102:Lovely people and really beautiful room. Lyme is heaven

Review 103:Everything

Review 104:Bright comfortable bedroom with beautiful views across Lyme Bay. Very good breakfast served in airy conservatory, again with lovely views.

Review 105:Warm greeting and very helpful.

Review 106:Nice sea views. Room very cosy. Great Breakfast.

Review 107:The view from our room was delightful and the staff made us feel very welcome.

Review 108:Attractive and luxurious room with outside terrace. Courteous and very helpful staff.

Review 109:Great house.....great location....great views. The staff were really helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

Review 110:The location was excellent as it was a 10 minute walk from the town and beaches. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The view was stunning!

Review 111:As soon as got there I felt very welcomed. The house had character and the decor was faultless.

Review 112:Nothing, there was'nt anything not to like.

Review 113:The whole package was top drawer. The staff, the breakfast, the rooms everything.

Review 114:Room a little small

Review 115:view from the room

Review 116:Excellent personal service and super choice breakfast. Very good value for money.
