Reviews for Ashfield House

Review 1:Nothing to dislike

Review 2:My wife and I have just stayed at Ashfield House for the Dickensian Weekend. A fantastic hotel with great hosts, every little detail was taken care of. Very helpful staff, who couldn't do enough for all guests. We have already booked another stay for 2016

Review 3:Nothing, everything was excellent.

Review 4:From the initial friendly welcome with coffee and biscuits, the stay was comfortable and the staff very friendly. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel was very comfortable.

Review 5:Nothing. Everything was perfect.

Review 6:Everything. Only ones staying so upgraded to the suite. Nothing was too much trouble. Joe and staff very welcoming and accommodating. Accommodation great. Surrounding countryside great. Just off the High Street so easy access to shops and places to eat/drink. Must also mention the Foresters Arms. Just around the corner. Good beer/food. Made a wonderful break for a couple of days. Would recommend without hesitation

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:The first thing was the greeting we got, fab The room was warm and cosy, and the food was excellent, and the hospitality was second to none, nothing was to much trouble for any one of the Owners and Staff

Review 9:There is absolutely nothing to dislike.

Review 10:Everything. Staff, location, food, atmosphere, comfort, friendliness. Wonderful place to stay. Well done to everyone involved in Ashfield House.

Review 11:My husband found the bed a bit soft - I liked it. We could have done with longer in the area.

Review 12:Very friendly staff Good central location Feel lucky to have had parking, but quite a tight fit.

Review 13:...the only negative point was hardly negative; simply that I'd recommend parking in the adjacent village square if space available, rather than negotiate the tight parking spaces down the lane, outside the house. It was a challenge getting out during what seemed to be the local "rush hour".

Review 14:For a 17th Century building, this was a surprisingly comfortable stay; luxurious rooms; lovely breakfast served by lovely staff. Another surprise was the friendly welcome, complete with tea and biccies, despite our relatively late arrival; even included an introduction to a quaint "honesty bar" - a custom that I thought had been long-consigned to the past. Nice touch!

Review 15:If I had to be picky, the parking is a little tight but, would never put us off coming back or recommending Ashfield House

Review 16:Everyone is friendly and helpful. Location is beautiful. All round fantastic place to stay.

Review 17:The car park is very tight if the place is full - it's fine if people have smaller cars but if you've a full size SUV then you may struggle!

Review 18:Excellent hosts, great location, lovely rooms. Brilliant guest house.

Review 19:Couldn't fault anything!

Review 20:Excellent location, beautiful house. Very welcoming, bubbly friendly staff. Fantastic breakfasts. Nothing is a problem, everyone goes over and above to make sure you enjoy your stay.

Review 21:It was a lovely B&B. Made to feel very welcome. The food was lovely, excellent breakfast and fabulous home-made biscuits on arrival. The bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom were clean and bright. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ashfield House, it was an extremely enjoyable stay.

Review 22:The shower was not very powerful and parking is very tight.

Review 23:The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean and comfortable. The location was ideal for us.

Review 24:would have been good to have bottled drinking water in the room. The lounge could do with a refurbish

Review 25:locality - warmth and friendlyness - nothing was too much bother - breakfast was cooked and presented lovely with home made touches

Review 26:Nothing not to like

Review 27:This is a delightful, 17th century bed and breakfast. Manned by very friendly and helpful staff and owned by a great character, Jo, who comes to meet his guests. A very pretty hotel and very comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.

Review 28:Bed a bit creaky and a little on the soft side for us (but some might prefer a softish bed).. Although we had upgraded, the room certainly wasn't large (though adequate for a short stay). wifi conectivity not good.

Review 29:Excellent staff and nice breakfast with lots of choice (tables a bit small, not helped by use of unnecessarily, though fashionable, large plates). The location is excellent, right in the middle of the village, and with a niice garden. It's an attractive traditional house with great character.

Review 30:Superb high-end B&B, perfectly located in Grassington centre. Very comfortable and luxurious rooms, mine even had a private terrace. Lovely staff and high quality breakfast. Excellent!

Review 31:The car parking was atrocious and dangerous for your car receiving a dent or a scrape. Some parked their cars in village square, but well out of site of Ashfield House.

Review 32:I appreciated the personal service by the staff and too by the propriator. This treatment went well but failed in other areas.

Review 33:Full English Breakfast was dissappointing, with cold baked beans, and the sausage was of poor quality. Ensuite shower was extremely small, for a premium room.

Review 34:Friendly greeting on arrival. Location.

Review 35:Parking was a minor problem but understandable given location. Solution was to park in the village square close by.

Review 36:Staff were excellent, without exception. Every effort was made to ensure our comfort. Our warm welcome made us feel valued.

Review 37:The moment you arrive the staff tell you that this is meant to be your 'home way from home' - and it was just that! Comfortable, stylish, and tranquil, with incredibly friendly staff and a positive and welcoming atmosphere - would absolutely love to stay here again

Review 38:Car park was a bit of a nightmare and our room was not ensuite albeit the bathroom was next door and exclusive to us, we were given robes but these were very thick and heavy.

Review 39:Lovely location, the house was lovely and the view of garden from our room was great. Loved the small bar great for a nightcap.

Review 40:We enjoyed our stay very much with Joe & Elizabeth . They were very hospitable & couldn't do enough for us . Will definitely go back . Lovely little B&B

Review 41:The firsst class service from everyone and the attention to detail; the comfort of our rooms, and the beautiful well stocked garden I can think of nothing that would have improved our holiday

Review 42:It was our own fault that we did not mentoin the uncomfortable bed. I am sure if we had it could have been changed.

Review 43:Staff were very friendly Breakfast weas great.

Review 44:The friendly and welcoming staff and owners, the peaceful nights sleep and the amazing breakfast in the morning, cant say too much as we arrived, went out for dinner, early night and then off in the morning after breakfast, but what we did experience was faultless in our opinion

Review 45:High quality in all the important areas. Lots of little extras added to the quality/luxury experience. Owners and staff were lovely - genuine, warm, welcoming. We will return.

Review 46:Problems with wifi connectivity, bit of a pain, but if you are on holiday go with the flow and enjoy the email peace!

Review 47:Comfy room, excellent breakfasts, wonderful service, especially from Leila

Review 48:The personal touch was apparent right from the start when you arrived at the reception. The owners and the staff could not do enough to make your stay a very pleasant experience. Nicely quirky accomodation with high levels of service

Review 49:Warmth on welcome as well as with heating as chilly for time of year. Cottage with charm and character. Lelja was super efficient. Excellent room , fluffy towels, good toilet items. Breakfast was superb and all served to you!

Review 50:Accommodation poor, small bedroom was supposed to be superior, shower potentially dangerous no power and difficult to control temperature. Service at breakfast poor

Review 51:Location good for Dales

Review 52:I would have liked a bar of soap instead of liquid soap and I had to buy shampoo and conditioner from spar shop in the village . Car park is very small we left our car in village square rather than squeezing it in in the dark .

Review 53:Good location in centre of Grassington Joe mine host was on hand to give assistance in the small car park . The breakfast was very good with efficient service .

Review 54:We really appreciated the obvious love and care that has been taken with this property. Although the building is over 100 years old, the rooms are 21st century standard and the breakfasts are fantastic.

Review 55:Parking. Narrow access to a tiny car park. The owner carefully placed cars and managed to pack it quite well but you could not get out in a hurry. We had to wait until others had left to get our car out safely. Quite well placed property but quite expensive.

Review 56:B&B mostly run by Hungarian couple who could not have been more friendly and helpful. Lovely welcome with tea and coffee. Excellent breakfast. Very clean. Good shower.

Review 57:The property is in the heart of Grassington, it is beautifully clean and the breakfast excellent. The young couple who are running this are lovely and always polite. It was also nice to meet the owners over breakfast who were also v nice people. Definitely would stay again - highly recommended.

Review 58:Wi fi reception was terrible. Practically non existent.

Review 59:We hired the downstairs suite as my husband had an ankle operation and was still recuperating.it had its own private entrance and patio which was lovely. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. It was good to meet the owners too!

Review 60:However our room was very small although having booked a superior room, walking around the double bed with cases on the floor became pain on the legs when hitting the bed post. No WiFi in the room although advertised. We did find that having a sliding glass door directly at the top of the stairs coupled to the first step a hazard not helped by stair tread being worn to a slope.

Review 61:We found that the B&B was situated in a good location and central of the village. We found that the breakfast was very good. Our room was sunny and bright.

Review 62:The location is fantastic, in the heart of Grassington. This lovely old building is beautifully kept and the room was lovely. The service very good apart from a little wait for the door to be answered when we first arrived

Review 63:Nothing.

Review 64:Elizabeth and Joe were marvellous hosts. Home baked cakes on arrival, the lovely warm welcoming lounge with honesty bar, the foot mat in the bathroom, the coffee, breakfast heaven. It was great. In Grassington, we just wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Review 65:We only stayed one night for a wedding but the owners have thought of everything including a cuddly bear. The breakfast was excellent and we also got home made biscuits in the bedroom.the staff were all very friendly and couldn't do enough for you

Review 66:We found the mattress too hard but this was personal preference.

Review 67:We were made to feel very welcome by the owner and the staff. The room was a good size with a clean, modern, compact ensuite bathroom. The breakfast was good.

Review 68:The fact that we had to come home!

Review 69:As soon as we arrived we were made to feel very welcome. The hosts and the owners could not have done more! A simply fantastic experience!

Review 70:The location is fantastic. The welcome to the hotel was great and the service remained at the same level throughout. The facilities were great and our room was beautiful.

Review 71:It's nice to still go to somewhere that has an honesty bar and the free surprise gift was delicious. The location is truly in the heart of the village.

Review 72:We had another excellent weekend in Grassington based at Ashfield House. From the welcoming hot beverage and mince pie on arrival on a cold January evening to the excellent service, facilities and comfortable and relaxing atmosphere that made you feel 'at home'.

Review 73:Car park a little bit small and awkward but good location

Review 74:The staff couldn't do enough for us very clean tidy and warm ! Home from home will stay again

Review 75:Friendly meet with tea and mince pie. They couldn't do enough to help. As it was a birthday stay, we forgot our camera so they very kindly lent a digital camera.

Review 76:The owners couldn't have been more helpful! Our room was lovely so well appointed and with soft linen. Lovely bathroom with super toiletries. Great to have parking in centre of village.

Review 77:nothing I didnt like just love it.

Review 78:This is the second time We have been to Ashfield House, It is relaxing ,comfortable, and we had a fantasic two days away in a area we love.Lovely walks, Pubs and food.

Review 79:Ending the romantic break at this delightful abode!

Review 80:Friendliness of staff Location Charm of Property Choice at Breakfast Personal Touches Beautiful Hotel Nothing was a problem

Review 81:We loved it all no complaints.

Review 82:We were made very welcome. Our cottage accomadation was cosy and warm. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful nothing was any trouble for them.

Review 83:Getting into the grounds down a very tight little alley with the car and the car park was quite awkward to turn in.

Review 84:The room we were given - spotlessly clean and wonderful huge towels. The landlord made us very eelcome

Review 85:When away I like to have a relaxing bath but there wasn't room I the en Suite

Review 86:Wonderfully warm welcome from Layla and Robert. Couldn't have been kinder or more helpful.

Review 87:Everything about the place. It is beautifully located, exceptional friendly service, a lovely old, warm clean building and superb breakfast. We will be going again !

Review 88:The warm welcome The warmth of character of the Hotel The added extras of the slippers and dressing gowns Comfy bed, Lovely breakfast In the heart of Grassington

Review 89:Very warm and genuine welcome from Joe and Elisabeth. Characterful and quirky accommodation, felt like stepping back in time. Set in gorgeous backwater location just off Main Street. Hearty breakfast, comfy lounge with 'honesty' bar. Couldn't want for more x

Review 90:Having to leave.

Review 91:The personal welcome, attention to detail to cover every possible comfort. Clean, warm and cosy. Excellent presentation and decoration. Location the best to access village amenities, walks and countryside.

Review 92:Staff was incredibly friendly and polite, place was very organised and incredibly clean, food was excellent. Everything was perfect.

Review 93:The only minor drawback is the parking arrangement. If Ashfield House were full, parking on site would be a problem. Since it has an excellent location in the centre of Grassington, there are very few alternative spaces in the centre and one would have to park away from the property

Review 94:The property has an excellent location and benefits from a couple of cosy lounges. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable

Review 95:Small room for size of bed and bathroom not attached to room but this was described accurately at time of booking.

Review 96:Comfortable bed and nice view of garden. Quiet location. Excellent breakfast.

Review 97:Maybe need some Wi Fi boosters

Review 98:Warm welcome and very attentive staff, always there if you needed advice, lovely room and lounge with a bar and meals if you wanted to eat there, thank you Joe and Elizabeth, you are great company

Review 99:Not a dislike as such but the building is centuries old and as such space is at a premium so be prepared for low doors etc.

Review 100:Good location in centre of village. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food delicious. Premises full of character and interesting objects

Review 101:Lovely guest house in the middle of grassington run by Joe and Elizabeth, they were excellent hosts as were Rosa and the rest of the staff, thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were made to feel very welcome and at home. Loved playing with Buddy too although I tired of throwing his ball before he got fed up, lol

Review 102:Their is nothing bad to say.

Review 103:Excent staff joe landlord was really pleasant and helpfull food was excellent lovely location and lovely grounds couldn't of had a nicer place to stay.

Review 104:I liked everything

Review 105:The owners and staff made every effort to ensure that my stay was a success - which it was! They were very gracious the night I arrived because I was held up in heavy traffic and arrived very late. Despite the fact they had had to stay up for me they put me at my ease and made me very welcome

Review 106:There is a slight feeling of ott about the place, difficult to definebut food served with gloved hands is a trifling example.

Review 107:There was an exceptional attention to detail regarding client comfortand facilities had obviously been 'road tested'Food was excellent both at breakfast and the one dinner we had, though the latter at a fixed price of £30 for three courses plus coffee was more than we would normally eat which is why we only had one. An attempt is made at dinner to create a house party atmosphere with everyone meeting in the lounge for drinks (honesty box) and coffee afterwards. This worked well for us and we had some interesting conversations with the other two couples present. It could be extended to a communal table in the dining room except all the tables would need to be rectangular (to fit together) and some are round. I appreciate that such intimacy might not suit everyone but I've seen it work well at a few larger establishments in the past. Altogether good value in an excellent location with adequate but tight parking (in a village where parking is a problem). I am happy to recommend it.

Review 108:nothing to dislike.

Review 109:A charming historic house set in quiet seclusion at the centre of Grassington. Rooms are comfortable, food good, and with a well kept private garden in which to stroll.

Review 110:we booked a superior double and must have got the smallest room in the hotel,we booked a garden view and got a view of a alley ,we booked a king size bed and got two singles pushed together which smelled so strong of B.O we did not sleep in them.AWFULL.

Review 111:nothing

Review 112:The bathroom next door to our room was lovely but very, very warm. The hot water tank was in a cupboard in there and it made it very uncomfortable.

Review 113:The whole place was very clean. The freshly baked cookies every morning was a lovely touch. Fresh towels everyday. Slippers and robes with a rose was also a nice touch. The breakfast was very good and the staff were very friendly.

Review 114:There was nothing whatsoever to dislike.

Review 115:We were greeted with warmth and friendliness. It was our anniversary and great care and attention was taken to spoil us. The food was honest and of a high home cooked quality. All the staff without exception were pleasant and polite.

Review 116:Pillows were at the end of their life - the rooms are due for refurbishment this autumn, I understand. Shower needs a degree in metaphysics to understand!

Review 117:Being able to park in the middle of Grassington. Charming, peaceful house and gardens. The warm welcome from Joe and Elizabeth. Delicious and extensive breakfast (don't plan on eating lunch!) Courteous and efficient staff. A comfortable, well-equipped room. The honesty bar.

Review 118:Excellent personal service. Great attention to detail. Breakfast + Dinner of a very high standard - home made cookies - all lovely. Joe the owner is hands on throughout and a very likeable character.

Review 119:Some of the doorways are quite low due to it being an older building. May be difficult for persons over 6 ft.

Review 120:Location was excellent, lovely terrace off our room, great shower and bathroom facilities and great breakfast selection.

Review 121:Charming warm and cozy feeling! Master of the house met us at the door and made us feel welcome and right at home. Clean cozy room w/electical outlet near bed. Nice garden out back. Off street parking. Easy to stroll around town.

Review 122:there was nothing to dislike.

Review 123:the hosts joe and the major were the perfect hosts ,being attentive, friendly and welcoming.the food was fabulous especially the home made marmalade ,sauces and the cookies.rooms are comfortable and spotless, its just a lovely place to stay, and we cant wait to go back.

Review 124:Very cosy!! Right in the middle of the village and lovely hosts.

The Fine Print

Evening meals are not provided but there are some pubs and restaurants in the village and around the area. The property has a small car park with private parking on site for a maximum of 8 cars in total. Please note this a small, 17th-century property and parking space is limited.
