Reviews for Stuart House Hotel
Review 1:The hotel was very comfortable with good facilities and the staff were friendly and attentive. Although the restaurant was closed for a private function which was disappointing this did not detract from the quality of the meals and service in the bar area.
Review 2:Lovely, pretty location, Hotel very high standard, very clean, nice bed, lots of hot water.. Breakfast very nice ,nice dining room, overlooking pretty garden. Staff very nice. I left two pair of jeans behind, and staff kindly phoned me, and are going to post them on to me, as I live 2hrs away. Much appreciated as one pair are new and my favourite
Review 3:Had a meal with family in restaurant which was ok, wouldst eat there again...had to keep asking for service for drinks and extras. We ordered three Rib-Eye steaks and they were not very good, poor quality meat; fatty and inedible. Went down for brekkie at 9.30am as I had a lay in, was only offered poached eggs on toast rather than full breakfast. Lastly, bed is on the small size, so if you like a big bed don't book here.
Review 4:Nice hotel, bit run down but really chilled hotel none the less. Staff were friendly enough but a little short in staff at times.
Review 5:Staff were particularly friendly and helpful. They even gave us a room upgrade when they realised the pre Christmas disco in adjacent room might be a nuisance for us.
Review 6:The very friendly and positive attitude of the staff. It was good to see the owner of the hotel in the bar, eating food from the restaurant and clearly enjoying chatting to the guests.
Review 7:Liked the welcome and the room quality, together with breakfast quality, overall experience very good. Customer service very good also, including ordering a taxi for me next morning.
Review 8:The rattling door, ( 26 ) as we had the window open! The room was too hot, that's why we opened the window.
Review 9:Convenient location, for our reason of being there. Excellent value and very friendly staff. Nice breakfast beautifully cooked and very tasty.
Review 10:Restaurant seems a little bare after the other areas.
Review 11:Very smart hotel with a mix of traditional and modern decoration. Evening meal was very good - better in the bar than in the restaurant for a little ambience on a quite night. Room (superior type) very well equipped.
Review 12:Breakfast was extra, didn't notice when I booked and may be a little overpriced
Review 13:Superb quality accommodation. Can not fault. Room clean and well appointed, staff so friendly. Good location, walkable distance to town centre as long as it is not raining. Great shower
Review 14:TV reception in Room 10 on BBC1 and BBC2 was intermittent. (Thank Heaven the rugby was on ITV!)
Review 15:Secluded location which means it was quiet. Very helpful staff. Efficient.
Review 16:One gripe: a sloping glass shelf above the sink in the bathroom which meant items left on it slipped slowly forwards and ended up crashing into the sink. I did mention it to staff, so that may have been sorted out since. The stroll into the town centre was a little further than expected at about 10/15 minutes. Not a problem for us, but could be for others less mobile.
Review 17:Friendly helpful staff, clean tidy room, bar with real ales a definite plus, good breakfasts and excellent evening meals served in restaurant or bar (the bar our favourite, as it was a quiet week). Open fire in bar which made it cosy. Adequate parking space. Overall a good experience.
Review 18:Room a bit small, noisy (extractor fan downstairs?) and smell of food sometimes. Also room fittings dusty.
Review 19:Friendly helpful staff, interesting building.
Review 20:Nothing special. The building doesn't look historical, no beautiful garden. Still, everything quite good.
Review 21:Comfortable place, beautiful room, everything in order
Review 22:We stayed in room 7. It looks over the car park but the window has no net curtain, so unless you draw the curtains you are exposed to anyone there whilst you are getting dressed. The light coming into the room under the room door and the intermittent whirring of a pump (?) outside the room made sleep difficult. The bathroom door is poorly fitted and sticks shut. Two of the three "specials" on the dinner menu (the ones we chose!) had already run out by 7.45pm although the restaurant is open until 9pm.
Review 23:Good quiet attractive location within city centre walking distance. Friendly helpful staff. Easy parking.
Review 24:Nothing
Review 25:We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, both were very good. We particularly liked the fact that when we asked if we helped ourselves to coffee we were told that we were on holiday and there to be looked after. Excellent.
Review 26:Being finicky, there was not a shelf in the shower to put shampoo etc on. A little awkward for us crinklies!
Review 27:The room was excellent. The breakfast was superb. Staff were all friendly and helpful.
Review 28:We stayed in the lodge. The other guests where very quiet but barking of the dog, presumably the owners was annoying late at night and in the early morning
Review 29:The location. The cleanliness and tidiness of the room. The bed was very comfortable.
Review 30:no shampoo, soap or body wash in rooms would have expected for price paid for room . didn't need but its a nice touch.
Review 31:staff were great , good parking , room was compact but comfortable , used to a king size bed , breakfast was very good . tea coffee making facilities good lots of coffee sticks and milk .
Review 32:Everything. Out of 36 places to stay, yours was the best. We lost my wife's watch there though It was a gold Skagen should it turn up. I did call you the day after we left, but you had not found it.
Review 33:Some of furnishings and paintwork a bit jaded. Room quite compact. Some of food not really what was described on menu. However, my complaint dealt with brilliantly and item removed from bill.
Review 34:Friendly staff, great bar with good beer, quiet location.
Review 35:The bathroom although clean look well used and could do with an update. The toast with the poached eggs was very spongy and not very nice.
Review 36:The room was a good size and very clean. The bed was very comfortable and even though we had booked twin beds we were given a king size bed and a single.
Review 37:Wifi was poor in the room. Doors of adjoining rooms need silencers or adjusted as they crash badly when people just let them slam. Maybe a nice reminder on the door that others are trying to sleep. The doors can be closed quietly, but most just let them slam, and it reverberated throughout the building being old. The door into lower corridor or the reception desk door kept banging all night. Don't know what caused it, maybe a draft coming from the front door area. Just annoying little things that spoilt a lovely stay.
Review 38:Staff great, Location, Left alone and not bothered by anyone. Room was great. Parking, and walking distance into K L.
Review 39:Liked everything!
Review 40:We stayed one night but wish we had had longer! Wonderful hotel with spacious and beautifully decorated rooms. Staff couldnt have been friendlier or more helpful particularly towards my Mum who is gluten intolerant- she had a huge choice of gluten free goods for her breakfast.Nothing was too much trouble Would definitetly recommend it and hope to stay again!
Review 41:We used the restaurant for an evening meal and found the food quite poor, the breakfast again felt a little bit stingy along with cereal on the buffet table left in its boxes just isn't good presentation.
Review 42:Comfortable, clean, easy going place that was a mix from rustic through to contemporary. Helpful and pleasant staff that seem to all muck in around the place. very well maintained exterior.
Review 43:Disappointed to see cereals still in original boxes would look and keep better in glass or plastic containers.
Review 44:Superb hotel booked at the last minute. Very helpful staff. Comfortable room and good breakfast.
Review 45:Crack in hand basin and some paint work a little dusty/scruffy
Review 46:Lovely welcome on arrival. Room had twin beds when I had booked a standard double but staff happy to change this whilst we went out later that afternoon. Food excellent. Lovely atmosphere
Review 47:I would very much like to thank the gentleman who was there when I checked out and gave me helpful directions to Sandringham via Castle Rising. Such a lovely little place that I would have missed otherwise.
Review 48:ordered full cooked breakfast but the toast did not arrive
Review 49:bed was very comfortable and as it was a humid night pleased a fan was already placed in our room
Review 50:noisey, didn't sleep that well. But this was more down to other people not respecting other people staying there. Leaving noisey fans on all night in bathroom, slamming doors, loud tv. because the rooms are quite close to each other and walls are not very thick the noise was heard more.
Review 51:staff very nice, meal we had in the evening was lovely. Garden nice, saw a little deer!!
Review 52:Nothing, it was good but bar a little soulless considering the hotel was fully booked.
Review 53:Helpful staff, booked a taxi for us and recommended a restaurant. Organised early breakfast for us to enable speedy departure. Two comfortable armchairs in bedroom - we get frustrated when booking a double room with only one chair.
Review 54:only one vegatarian meal on offer had to ask chef for other options full english breakfast a bit on the small side.
Review 55:staff were very friendly and obliging room was nice and roomy
Review 56:The only slight comment was that I think it needs a little updating but that was only minor
Review 57:The staff, Our room The Garden room and also that they had remembered my friend's birthday and had put balloons in the room. It was away from the town so about a 10/15 mins walk but that was fine as could walk through the lovely park
Review 58:The hotel was excellently placed for easy access to the town. It was a pleasant walk through the park to St. Johns Church where we wanted to attend on the afternoon of Sunday 28th June. All the staff were very friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend it. The staff were
Review 59:Nothing to dislike.
Review 60:Room was gorgeous, we had an executive double. Very clean, excellent food, great breakfast, lovely rear garden to sit and chill with a glass of wine. Lovely staff all so very helpful and cheerful.
Review 61:Dirty bath towel, but probably just an oversight (which I only noticed as I got out of the shower) as the room and hotel were generally very clean. Single room was quite small. Hotel slightly difficult to find. Bar only had a choice of 3 wines (one house red and two house whites - sweet or dry). More choice to go with the excellent food, please.
Review 62:Excellent food. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean and tidy public spaces and rooms.
Review 63:We did not realise that we could not dine in the restaurant on Thursday evening due to the meeting of the Rotary club
Review 64:the helpfulness and friendliness of all the staff
Review 65:Location is disappointing. Despite being advertised as centrally located, it is in fact some way from the centre of the town.
Review 66:Comfortable clean bedroom.
Review 67:We felt pushed out of the bar at 8.30 one evening when staff started cleaning the floor with bleach and it was obvious they wanted to finish early as it was quiet. Also decorators were painting the outside walls of the hotel during the evening and we had to endure strong paint smells in the room all night.
Review 68:Good location for Kings Lynn and for touring the area. Nicely decorated individual bedrooms.
Review 69:I hardly slept a wink the first night because of terrible noise from a fan or airconditioning unit directly below my bedroom window. All was well once I'd been given a different room, although both single rooms were very small.
Review 70:Friendly staff, good location
Review 71:Nothing bad.
Review 72:The room was lovely. The bar served good beer. The food was great, morning and evening and it was conveniently located for the town and park.
Review 73:Very soft bed - uncomfortable. Too noisy to open the window but too hot to keep it shut. Thin walls - heard guests talking in their room.
Review 74:Friendly, welcoming staff. Lovely building.
Review 75:Breakfast staff (1 woman in particular) very unhelpful, bordering on rude. No yoghourt despite being on the list. She took 20mins to ask if we wanted cooked breakfast etc, seemed more interested in chatting to delivery man in store room. Shower very poor, leaks and nowhere to hang towel close by
Review 76:Reception staff very helpful
Review 77:We found the duvets too thick. Otherwise everything very good.
Review 78:No traffic noise as in a short cul de sac. Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable beds; very good flat screen TV. Immaculate bathroom. Good well-cooked breakfast.
Review 79:We were in the 'lodge' which was very comfortable stylish and quiet. Good sized room for 2 plus ensuite. Staff very welcoming and friendly and altogether a very enjoyable and pleasant stay.
Review 80:Dining area a bit 'tired' looking. Main meal very good but no choice in coffee at the end of the meal apart from Nescafe. Tables seating '4' had table cloth but not for tables for '2', very odd!!
Review 81:Lovely garden room. Hotel in good location for getting around.
Review 82:we stayed in room 11 .due to the heating thermostat being in the hallway in the centre of the hotel the room was cold as the hot hallway was not allowing the heating to come on.
Review 83:good location easy walk into town ,the staff were very friendly.the bar area was good and well stocked and the food was very nice.
Review 84:Seemed to skimp a little on the amount at breakfast and we were never asked if we wanted extra toast/coffee.
Review 85:Bar area is really cosy and inviting. We as in the bar one night and the food we had was excellent.
Review 86:Situated just a short walk through the park from city center, the Stuart House Hotel is a unique gem along a leafy, quiet road. The rooms are well-appointed, clean, and recently renovated. Breakfast was a treat, and the staff really friendly.
Review 87:there was nothing we didnt like other than the room was a little to warm for me .But i'm sure if i would of asked they would of done something about it
Review 88:The rooms were spotless and well equiped for all our needs. The lady on reception was extremely pleasent and helpful .
Review 89:We stayed in room 22. At 10.30pm we could clearly hear the conversation between two ladies in the room next door. At 6am we were woken by the TV show “Countdown” and it’s annoying jingle from the room on the other side.
Review 90:A good location with its own car park. The room was clean and tidy. Breakfast was reasonable. Staff were polite and helpful.
Review 91:Nothing really. Breakfast was ok but limited if you wanted something other than full english
Review 92:Room was very nice, comfortable and well furnished. Liked the bed! Dinner was very nice.
Review 93:Lovely greeting from Gemma on arrival, who was very informative and clearly loved her home town. Lynn is fascinating, like it's just discovered its own past. Lovely double room with country house furnishings and great bathroom. Spotless. Delightful owner gave us lots of tips on exploring further along the coast. True's Yard museum and Lynn Museum worth a visit to discover more about this fascinating town. Medieval centre has stunning houses. Lovely sandwich lunch at Raftskeller, a Hanseatic House. Ate at hotel one night - really good, in the lovely bar with coal fire - and at 11 Marketplace, which was outstanding. Breakfast very good. Free parking Lynn has lovely people and we will definitely return to Stuart House.
Review 94:Breakfast staff was very unfriendly took a while for the food to come out
Review 95:Log fire dinning and our evening food was amazing great hearty home cooked food
Review 96:Walking distance to the town and river walk.Everything we needed, food was very good, staff friendly & helpful. Would certainly return and recommend to others.
Review 97:Friendly helpful staff and excellent full English breakfast. Rooms have character, with modern en-suite, beds comfortable. Quiet setting but only 10 mins walk from station across the park. Also close to old part of town.
Review 98:the staff and hotel were brilliant. Turned up on a spontaneous break and were welcomed by the staff. Turns out there was a murder mystery night on at the hotel which we participated. Had a brilliant night. Room was comfortable and had a brilliant night. Breakfast was good too...
Review 99:There wasn't any thing we didn't like.
Review 100:As I had lived close by the hotel in my childhood, remember peeking over the wall.. it was good now as it was then 35 years & more ago...fantastic all round
Review 101:The perfect stopover, warm and welcoming. Excellent service, facilities and food. Friendly and obliging owners and staff. I cannot recommend this hotel higher and look forward to staying there again. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable.
Review 102:Few very large cobwebs in the room, should have been cleaned properly but our twin room was comfortable and nicely decorated.
Review 103:Staff/good service, very helpful. Parking
Review 104:Could hear the shower running in the next room but this was a minor distraction
Review 105:Really friendly and helpful staff - overall I can't think of anything that would make me not book again when coming back to town.
Review 106:Nothing.
Review 107:I have stayed at the Stuart House Hotel about 4 times now over the past 5 years and have always been impressed. I was particularly impressed on my most recent visit when I received a telephone call before I reached the Hotel to ask if I would be dining there that night. This most thoughtful of calls typifies the excellent service I have always had at Stuart House.
Review 108:I thought the staff were so unfriendly and cold. When I mentioned about door slamming from one of the rooms I was treated as if I were in the wrong. The whole place trembled and they said, 'what noise?' The place wasn't easy to sleep in with the noise. I wouldn't stay there again even if they offered it at half price....really negative and cold atmosphere.
Review 109:Good location to the city.
Review 110:the beds where a bit old and made a lot of noise when you moved even a little on them.
Review 111:The hotel was in a very quiet part of town, it had everything we needed. Somewhere to sleep, eat and drink and was very clean and friendly
Review 112:V nice spot off out of the town centre but within walking distance of this v pleasant town centre and river. Good off road private parking. Would be more than happy to stay here again
Review 113:Nothing, everything was excellent
Review 114:Very comfortable hotel in a quiet location 10 minutes walk from the station. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Food great, including good cooked breakfast. Excellent for a business stop over.
Review 115:The bathroom needs modernising on the standard double room. Toilet stopped working. (Executive rooms have excellent bathrooms). Does not have Wifi in rooms - only within the reception areas.
Review 116:Location excellent, within walking distance of town centre and in a quiet location. Breakfast was very good. Has a restaurant and cosy bar.
Review 117:Nothing not to like, room lovely clean spacious and away from any traffic noise, very quiet all might, did not expect as high standard for price, bed very firm, breakfast good
Review 118:Our room was upstairs wich didnt help with my partners bad hip but we did book a superior room so not Stuart Houses fault
Review 119:All was good from the staff to the room and the food
Review 120:The beds were a little old. They were noisy when we turned over and we could feel the springs in two of our beds.
Review 121:The lovely setting and friendly staff.
Review 122:Late booking after 10pm arrival - not a problem Friendly welcome Upgraded room Very comfortable and quiet Good breakfast choice, really appreciated a freshly prepared fresh fruit salad and a choice of creamy and low fat yoghurts (didn't have cooked but it looked nice) Too late to sample evening meal Would definitely stay again and recommend - refreshing change from the larger chain hotels
Review 123:Maybe the lack of a lift.
Review 124:The slightly old fashioned style, much better than the usual impersonal service of larger hotels. From reception,to leaving everything was well organised and friendly. The food was really good, with a wide ranging menu,an a good well stocked bar.The owner, and his staff member Jemma in particular made our stay memorable
Review 125:Could add smoked bacon to menu...just a personal preference.
Review 126:Very warm welcome. Efficient staff especially at breakfast. This is a waiter service, not those awful buffet breakfasts. The food was delivered piping hot and was all cooked to perfection.
Review 127:not easy to find at night (down a little side road) - would advise a map of Kings Lynn or sat nav!
Review 128:good location, very quiet, plenty of parking space. Well furnished room. Excellent breakfast and pleasant staff, A most enjoyable overnight stay.
Review 129:Draught beer on tap wasn't very good -maybe needs some pipe cleaning ! Restaurant prices are too high for the meals they are offering : need to take 20% off the pricelist.
Review 130:Good breakfast and proper bath towels. Plenty parking spaces
Review 131:Welcoming staff, room was lovely and spacious. Great bar and restaurant and close to town. Breakfast lovely, with a variety of choices. Would definitely recommend. Thanks for a great stay.
