Reviews for Citotel O'Cub Hotel
Review 1:Very friendly and helpful staff. Next to restaurants. Only a 10 minute walk to old town. Also had a fridge and balcony which you don't normally see in French budget motels.
Review 2:It is a bit more dated than the other hotels we stayed at. Furniture is simple but does the job.
Review 3:A clean small hotel about 15-20 minute walk into the main square. Street parking (ie. free). Great bakery just around the corner from the hotel.
Review 4:Super friendly owners who go the extra mile to make their customers feel at home. Perfect location! We even got a nice personal 'things to do and see in the area' list and yes, we did it all! Really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back!
Review 5:The staff were very friendly and helpful and even carried our bags up to the 2nd floor, as there were no lifts. They were knowledgeable about where to access transport and eating places.
Review 6:Carpet very old and dirty. Web pictures look much better than reality.. Very little public parking
Review 7:Family room sleeps comfortably four. Very nice owner. Speaks english.
Review 8:Air condition is really busy, fortunately we didn't need it. Breakfast price is too high for the level/atmosfere of the hotel. I would suggest to decrease a little.
Review 9:Perfect position to visit Avignon. The man at the reception is really nice and really helpful, even without asking any advice he told us the best suggestions for parking eating etc. we arrived late and we found a letter with all the information at the door. The room is nice, the bed confortable, and the shower is quite big :) Really good price considering that we slept friday night, high season.
Review 10:Location was not so nice (noise from a busy road nearby, unpleasant walk to the city centre along a busy road), slow wi-fi, the room was quite small (stayed in a superior double room), the building is quite old, bathroom smelly.
Review 11:Air conditioner in the room, healthy breakfast on a lovely terrace, friendly english speaking staff
Review 12:The over powering smell of cigarettes in the stairwell. No elevators but the staff were helpful.
Review 13:The helpful and friendly staff. Lovely breakfast. Fabulous view of Avignon's sites from our windows and the upper terrace. Additional toilets on each floor. Smallness of the hotel. Location, location, location!
Review 14:Front desk staff extremely helpful. We stayed here just one night following a multi-day bike tour. Chosen for location. Two-minute walk to public bus; quick ride to stop at Pont d'Avignon and city center(or about 15-minute walk). Convenient to Avignon TGV; seven minute taxi ride and about 20 euro including luggage and tip.
Review 15:Wi-Fi did not exist as it was suppossed to. Major problem. If there is a problem with the carrier and/or wifi itself, hotels should not state that they have wifi. Wasted a lot of my time and theirs as well .
Review 16:Location - walking distance to all the wonderful sights especially the Art museums, churches restaurants, etc. .
Review 17:they charged me twice on my creditcard. please contact me to find out how you refund my creditcard- it was charged twice, once on 2nd of June, the other on 5th of June. thank you
Review 18:friendly staff nice view nice breakfast
Review 19:We had absolutely no bad experiences, but wish the hotel had an elevator.
Review 20:The staff was so friendly, welcoming, and went above and beyond to help however they could. Room decor was fresh, lively, and room was spotless. Liked location away from city center. Good, quick access across the river by bus.
Review 21:Thierry gave us a warm and informative welcome. He couldn't have been kinder. Great position for visiting Avignon and Villeneuve which is equally delightful.
Review 22:Wifi is incredebly slow even often not working at all. Near the railroad. Althought, not a problem with the rooms on the river side.
Review 23:Decent value for the price Very friendly staff. Always happy to help.
Review 24:Parking was sparse but not too bad. The internet was not available in the room we had.
Review 25:Fabulous and helpful staff Lovely deck with view of the city centre and the river Quirky interior design
Review 26:No coffee/tea facilities in room. No ice for nite cap. (There was no bar up stairs)
Review 27:Location and car parking good for us. Restaurant across the road. Price good value. Good instruction for late check in.
Review 28:'Rhone view' room gave only a small view of the river over a garage roof. Air conditioning did not work properly so I struggled to sleep. When mentioned the following morning there was no offer to compensate in any way.
Review 29:Friendly welcome and helpful staff. Clean and tidy room. Good location and good views from rooftop terrace.
Review 30:We stayed in a River View room with balcony. Within walking distance to Avignon with easily accessible bus to take you back during late night hours. The hotel manager was excellent, he provided us with fabulous dining suggestions and we couldn't be happier with the level of customer service. Also, free parking was a bonus!
Review 31:I think the hotel was a bit overpriced, perhaps due to the fact there was a festival going on in July. Don't take me wrong. For a Swiss guy, this hotel may be just a bargain, but in the US or in Spain you can simply stay at better rooms for the price we paid. I know it's a bit off topic, but let me develop a bit more on the above paragraph. Of course you can sleep over in France if you are in a budget. Just give those hotel chains a chance AND RECONCILE YOURSELF TO GETTING INTO TOWN BY DRIVING and you're done. That simple.
Review 32:The O'Cub Hotel is technically located in Villanueve Les Avignon, just by the bridge linking both towns. In practice, it is very near between both Avignon and Villanueve Les Avignon. We liked both towns, so for us, the hotel is the perfect compromise. It's a 15-minute walk to the town center, so you can forget about your car. The recepcion guy was very kind and helpful. In fact, we learnt of Villanueve Les Avignon thanks to him. (Thanks so much if you happen to read these lines!) If you travel by car and you make your mind on what to do or simply on where to go on the go (no pun intended), Wifi and parking space are a must. At the rear of the hotel, there is plenty of space to park your car, and the Wifi works just fine.
Review 33:Wifi reception in the room was poor, the outside of the building could use a brush of paint.
Review 34:Nice breakfast, friendly staff, wonderful terrace and very clean (bath)room! Free huttle to the centre of Avignon is nearby.
Review 35:- The junior suite was 2 sleeping rooms - no suite at all. - The furniture in the room was probably 30 - 40 years old. - The railway passed only 40meters outside the wall, with a lot of noise at all times 24/7
Review 36:Centrally situated Helpful staff Nice breakfast and roof terrasse
Review 37:A little far away from the city center, we need to walk or take the bus to across two bridges. That‘s why we rent a bike, which is more convenient. But it doesn't take long time to go there. Still a nice choice!!
Review 38:Very nice receptionist! Detail information about hotel, transportation, city sightseeing and restaurant! We rent a half day bicycle to travel in the avignon city, which is quite nice and free of choice to go everywhere. The festival is also nice. The room is comfortable with nice view. Nice design of the hotel~~
Review 39:It is very clean and quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is good, only 5mins drive to Avignon center or 15mins walk. The price is very good
Review 40:Parking availability.
Review 41:Helpfulness of staff, location of hotel.
Review 42:Position,easy parking, quick walk over bridge to the old city, helpful staff
Review 43:Nice hotel for a one night stop. Very kind staff. We enjoyed our stay.
Review 44:Staff was very helpful! Air conditioning was a plus in July.
Review 45:Lack of car park
Review 46:Good location
Review 47:Only slight problem was no lift and a 15min walk into town.
Review 48:Clean and comfortable and both owners very nice guys. Would stay again.
Review 49:Avignon and Villevenue-des-Avignon 20 min walk away
Review 50:Good view, large room, fantastic view from breakfast room
Review 51:Hotel comfortable. Great friendly and efficient staff. Good breakfast.
Review 52:The bed blanket doesn't seem to change every day.
Review 53:The hotel is quiet and the staff is very friendly.
Review 54:Nothing
Review 55:Comfortable bed. Super breakfast.
Review 56:All good
Review 57:Helpful host, pretty town
Review 58:wifi slowed down at peak times
Review 59:Excellent care and welcome from the manager
Review 60:The attention to detail. The amazing view during breakfast looking across the river and sunrise! Beautiful! Wonderful stay, outstanding hotel!
Review 61:Lovely breakfast balcony.
Review 62:room is not clean
Review 63:nothing
Review 64:Great location particularly if you have a car. Fantastic breakfast. Very helpful staff, gave us tips to plan various day trips.
Review 65:Nothing.
Review 66:Room with a balcony. Nice view on the old city. Good walk along the river. Shaded parking. Good breakfast on roof terrace.
Review 67:Cramped room. We had a reserved parking spot in on the several parking bays. When we returned from dinner, a car was parked in our space. No one at desk to address the problem. Apparently there is one part time employee responsible for entire operation of facility resulting in long waits at the reception area. This is a one star facility impersonating a 3 star hotel, and charging exorbitant prices.
Review 68:Good location, easy access to Old Town. A few nice touches in the style department
Review 69:No issues with this hotel at the price.
Review 70:The staff member was excellent on checking in and loved the hotel for the price and location. Added bonus was car park and if you are happy not to stay in middle of Avignon this is the place for you. Also the town near by is a quick drive and well worth the visit.
Review 71:Breakfast is a little pricey if, like me, you're on a budget.
Review 72:The hotel is adjacent to the Rhone and on the second floor I had a good view overlooking the river and the city. The guy on the desk, Olivier, is real friendly. Went out of his way to make me feel welcome, showed me places on the map based on my needs. I originally stopped for a night, but decided to stay for three (when you're on a good thing, stick to it...).
Review 73:Only the top floor rooms have views of the river. The room are not big.
Review 74:Friendly staff met us and we could park our car on the premises.Very convenient place and walkable(20min) to Avignon Centre. Drive 5 minutes over the bridge. A reasonable basic room with veranda(no view). A good size bathroom. The open air rooftop terrace with its comfortable lounges and tables and chairs was a real bonus and had great views especially while we had a very good breakfast.
Review 75:The Rhone side rooms have a great view of the city, especially nice in the evening. It's located a good walk from the center of Avignon so you don't have to take a car into the congestion. The reception staff, Ludovica, was excited to tell us all the things to do in both Avignon and Villeneuve, including his recommendations on great restaurants. His reception was far beyond what one would expect from a chain.
Review 76:Room was very small. Parking is on the street and it is hard to find empty spot.
Review 77:Host was friendly. Location is OK if you are willing to walk about 1km to main attraction which is Palais des Papes.
Review 78:Walls are thin - it is a bit noisy when someone talks or watches TV or uses shower at night. Also, there is a busy road and a railway (not so busy) nearby.
Review 79:Great location - 10 min walk to Palais des Papes. Lots of free parking. Very good wi-fi in the room. The staff were extremely helpful: not only they provided all the useful info on Avignon and Villeneuve, but also gave me a voucher for a 50% discount to Pont-du-Gard, which is an easy 20 min drive from the hotel. Also, in the morning when I found my car blocked by another vehicle, they quickly found whose car that was and relocated it.
Review 80:No complaints at all
Review 81:The excellent hotel staff were extremely helpful & offered lots of good advice on what to see and where to eat in Avignon. The hotel is conveniently located and it's a easy 15 minutes walk over the two bridges into the city. The room is compact but spotlessly clean & comfortable with a nice view over the river. The breakfast was very good & served in a very pleasant rooftop dining room overlooking the city of Avignon. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Parking was convenient
Review 82:This hotel was incredibly noisy. First, it's located near a railwayand especially at night the train is running quite often and besides thesound you even feel the ground shaking. Secondly, you hear all the otherguests coming in and out of the back door and on the stairs. We had avery loud family living on the 3rd floor, with a crying baby and walkingthe stairs in heels at midnight. Toiletries were only replaced the lastmorning. WiFi was slow in the evening and better in the morning whenthere was less traffic. It is almost 2 km walk to the Palace of thePopes and downtown Avignon.
Review 83:We spent 5 nights at Cube Hotel and saw many attractions near Avignon bycar. The suite consisted of two rooms with enough space for furnitureand luggage, it also had a small entrance hall. Decorations are ok, theytry to be as modern as possible but I could not say they are of verygood quality.
Review 84:Rooms are very compact and we needed the balcony to provide a bit of elbow room.
Review 85:A good value option for seeing Avignon and area, with a very nice rooftop terrace with great views. Villeneuve too was well worth seeing with some nice restaurants. Helpful staff.
Review 86:Great wee hotel situated on the other side of the Rhone from Avignon and only a 20/25 min walk into the centre of Avignon. The roof terrace gives a great view over the river and the Palais des Papes and is an excellent place for an evening drink before heading across to Avignon, albeit you'll have to supply your own drink. This was our fourth stay here and if you want a clean, comfortable hotel with free parking and easy access by foot into Avignon then I would definitely recommend it.
Review 87:No safe in the room.
Review 88:Free parking, helpful reception staff. Room was nice and clean maybe just a little bit old fashioned. Really excellent soaps. City centre was about 15 minutes walk away.
Review 89:Room picks up highway noise. Long walk to city (Avignon) along a noisey expressway.
Review 90:Room, although cozy, had nice terrace with view of the Rhone. Breakfast was excellent and in a relaxed environment.
Review 91:Lock on balcony door did not work, but a minor issue. For me, 10 minute walk over bridges to Avignon was not as problem (the views on the walk were excellent), but this may be an issue for some people.
Review 92:Staff were friendly and helpful, Rhone rooms have a nice balcony and view of the Palais. Mini bar in room with space for your own purchases. Very well priced for Avignon area.
Review 93:Arrived at 4.30 no staff at reception, then informed that no staff available after 9.00pm.Visited town returned at 10.00 to the constant sound of passing freight and passenger trains. A group on terrace eating take-away and rather loud. if we had been staying longer I would have complained .
Review 94:Liked the décor, the view albeit a tiny window.
Review 95:Walking to the city center is possible but is not a comfortable walk because of the busy traffic along the way. Hotel room facilities and decoration are dated. Hotel room is not very comfortable. Carpet needs to be replaced.
Review 96:Very good breakfast with varieties. Reception staff is friendly and helpful.
Review 97:Just the location is a little bit far to walk to city center in such a hot summer.
Review 98:The hotel is lovely with artistic design and warm colour. Staff is very friendly and helpful with suggestion for places to visit and food. Definitely gonna come back next time in Avignon!
Review 99:The bathtub was blocked the day we arrived but then reopened in the morning. There was not much the staff could do immediately since we arrived late at night, but it would be good to check the rooms before handing over to new guests.
Review 100:Extremely friendy staff, very pleasant services.
Review 101:The Cube is ideally located to access Avignon. It is directly across theriver from the Papal Palace so provides beautiful views of the Rhone andthe city. Driving into Avignon was easy. The Cube was a quiet andcomfortable retreat from the tourist activity in Avignon.
Review 102:Maid has forgotten to close the door of the room and balcony door aswell, so all day our room was opened! Other services were good.
Review 103:Comfortable room for short stay. Nice breakfast (although ratherexpensive), parking is free, 3 car places available (there areadditional free parking places close to the hotel), free WiFi in rooms.
Review 104:We wanted to stay in Avignon before heading to the south and to notspend too much money. This hotel was great for the location - it's a10 minute walk over the bridge and you're in the heart of Avignonwhich is amazing (to have stayed in Avignon would have cost 3 times asmuch) We weren't sure of what to make of the hotel when firstpulling up, but the man on the reception desk was excellent and gave usa map and restauarant recommendations. The room was big and clean, thebathroom was great, and the beds were very comfy. We got a room for 3and it had a dividing section which was a nice touch. Best of allthere's a rooftop terrace which is lovely and looks straight ontohistoric Avignon.
Review 105:We could not get one of the better rooms.
Review 106:We had a small room at the back of the hotel since we couldn't get a larger more expensive room at the front. Althogh very small, especially the bathroom, it was comfortable and spotless, with even BBC TV:-) The patron was friendly and helpful and breakfast was excellent for 9€. Free parking with Avignon a 20min walk across the bridges. We would stay again.
Review 107:Easy access to Avignon - fantastic terrace to use. Breakfast buffet well presented - really good budget hotel - great if u have car as Avignon not easy to drive
Review 108:Slow wifi couldn't post my facebook vids. Rooms a bit worn
Review 109:Parking available, 15 min walk to city walls, Nice view from upstairs balcony . Room has a fridge.
Review 110:A bit far away from city centre. Walking across the bridges are quite painful in summer time...take the bus...
Review 111:Very clean and spacious room. All facilities are quite new. Quite comfortable.
Review 112:Accommodation is quite basic and might be a drawback if staying for more than a couple of days.
Review 113:Great location, lovely views and very friendly and knowledgeable duty manager. Free parking is a bonus.
Review 114:We stayed on a Friday night and with the balcony door open it was verynoisy with music blaring out from somewhere. Was told this wasn'tusual and could be the direction of the wind carrying the noise.
Review 115:It was close to town, about a quick ten minute walk over the twobridges. The breakfast was lovely with a good choice. Fabrice who bookedus in and did the breakfast was very helpful and charming. Also the roofterrace was a good feature although we didn't get to take advantageof it as we were only staying one night.
Review 116:Minor point but the walls appeared thin with sounds from the adjoining room being heard. Not a real problem though.
Review 117:Great alternative location to central Avignon. Easier to access, safe parking and just 15 minutes walk across 2 bridges to get into Avignon centre. Warm welcome and excellent level of English spoken if required. WiFi offered together with a map of Avignon on which were pointed out places of interest and options for eating out. We opted for a room with a view of the Rhone and were delighted we had done so. Excellent breakfast taken on the rooftop terrace. We were able to leave the car until lunchtime on the day of departure so we could spend another morning in Avignon. Would certainly return and recommend to others.
Review 118:Mattress was very firm.
Review 119:Olivier, our host, was very friendly and helpful....spoke perfect English. Rooms were clean and quiet. Lovely view from terrace. Easy walk to the town.
Review 120:Only French breakfast - bread/cereal based. From the next house thepeople let their dog out to run free on the street by hotel door, we hadto run and hide with our small dog.
Review 121:Perfect location, easy to find, had little balcony. Car parking behindhotel, ok. Wild irises flowering by the railroad tracks (no noise).Lovely breakfast area. Close to historic city center. Dog friendly.
Review 122:Bathroom small and toilet very awkward to get to.
Review 123:Great little hotel. Just 15 minutes walk into the old city of Avignon. Staff extremely helpful and friendly - nothing is too much trouble. Beautiful view over the River Rhone and the old city from our hotel room and breakfast terrace on top has great views as well. Room on the small side but everything clean. Also very quiet at night apart from small amount of noise from other rooms.
Review 124:it's about 15-20 min to the city center though you should walk over the long bridge fool with cars. I was nervous a bit while coming back late.
Review 125:very friendly staff, and quite comfortable rooms.
Review 126:A little bit far walking to Avignon - about 20 minutes crossing the river. Location near railway, but to be honest, we heard no trains.
Review 127:Good hotel for short stay. Quiet place, view to the river from the upper floors. Big terrace on the roof for not windy weather. Balcony. Friendly stuff, place for the car. We were in october, I don't know how it is in high season...
Review 128:Very tired. A/c as good as useless and noisy (we didn't sleep); the door to the balcony took me 30mins to get open (due to a dodgy lock) but it's too noisy outside to leave the door open to deal with the lack of a decent a/c system. There's room for 3 cars on site but thereafter you park on the quiet surrounding streets if you feel happy doing so. But all in all you have few options in Avignon because hotels within the town use u/g car parks which are too low for a 4x4.
Review 129:Excellent location - just a 10 min walk across the bridge into Avignon; wi-fi fine; low cost, very friendly and helpful reception staff.
Review 130:Run down, messy location, no reception service after 8.30pm, tiny showerroom with toilet squashed in corner, provided 'special deal' taxi to carhire location (approx 6 kilometers - 18 euros).
