Reviews for Oustau Camarguen
Review 1:The environs outside the hotel are uninteresting - endless blocks of apartments - so you have to drive for restaurants and bars (although there is one in the hotel).
Review 2:Lovely garden, good service and quiet. A pleasant place to stay.
Review 3:Was not impressed with the Côte de toro, found it too tough. The bed was a little short. The wifi which had to be logged in afresh every time was irritating, but certainly appreciated.
Review 4:The suite was wonderful and the decor of the hotel really nice. The staff and amenities were friendly and good.
Review 5:Poor sound isolation. Stuffy room. Noisy neighbourhood (vicinity of a camping). Expensive yet not great dining at the hotel restaurant (steak not cooked as requested, oily fish, burnt dessert). Unpleasent and arrogant waiter.
Review 6:Atmospere and design. Nice breakfast. Beautiful nature around. Very nice welcome. Unique hotel in the whole neighbourhood.
Review 7:The only bad thing about our time in the area was that the mosquitos were Extremely bad. Even the locals said that it was a really bad year for the bugs. We found good bug spray at the local drugstore though, so not a huge issue in the end.
Review 8:We had a very nice stay (family with kids aged 11 & 15). The staff was very friendly. The gave us a lot of really good advice on places to go and things to do in the area. We went on a horse ride and they helped us set that up. On our last day, we had a late flight out and they were very flexible about letting us use the pool, etc. that afternoon after checkout. The location was great and we will stay here again next time we come to the area.
Review 9:Expensive relative to the area Additional charges added to the bill Limited mini-bar items stocked, and no facility to make a hot drink in the bedroom
Review 10:Standard of bedroom accommodation Staff responsiveness and assistance Proximity to beach
Review 11:Nothing
Review 12:Good quality hotel, great place to relax round the pool or over coffee and drinks. Short drive from Le grau du roi, aigues mottes, restaurants and bars.
Review 13:Clean, well maintained, stylish, comfortable hotel. All staff we met were helpful, particularly Natalie in reception. Many thanks. Good base for visiting Le Grau du roi and Aigues Mortes by car and easy to access Nîmes by train. Nice informal fish restaurant nearby, but you would need a car for other restaurants. We didn't eat in the hotel.
Review 14:The air conditioner of our room did not work.
Review 15:The hotel is located in a beautiful village which is quite near to the sea. It is very well decorated and clean. The staff is very nice. We all love the hotel a lot.
Review 16:The service was not nice. Out of 4 people only one was kind, so we basically felt unwelcome. Lack of willingness to help. A clear example is that they didnt accept to cook anything special for the children so we had to buy a full adult menu, which was quite expensive. The breakfast was pricey for what was offered; there were not even fruits available. The room was very dark and the bed too small. If you are taller than 1.85cm your feet will be out of the bed! All in all, we will not come back there.
Review 17:It's close to the beach it's nice to have the swimming pool and the spa available. The rooms are kept in good shape.
Review 18:They offered room service but when it came to it they told us they were busy and we could only order 1 course from the menu!! We found that incredible. They told us there were plenty of eating places nearby but could not bring in food from the outside even though they couldn't provide us with a proper meal. So overall extremely unhelpful on the room service front. The bed was so uncomfortable and the pillows were the worst we have ever had giving us serious neck ache. The shower was positioned 2 feet up from the bath so you had to hold it with one hand above your head whilst washing with your other hand. The patio in front of each chalet was not in anyway private and you were sat very close to your neighbour so everyone spoke in whispers. The meal we had in the restaurant was reasonable but over priced. They said we had to wait until 9.15 because they were very busy but we got there early and they had lots of spare tables. I think the whole place is understaffed and they simply couldn't cope. This was in September, goodness knows how they fared in July and August.
Review 19:The area was very nice. So much to do. Canoeing, fishing, shopping, sightseeing, quading, horse riding, walking and cycling. The walk around the bird sanctuary was really nice. We would definitely visit this area again but next time will choose our accommodation with more care.
Review 20:There were no coffee and tea facilities in the rooms and breakfast at 13 euros per person felt too steep. We got a sever reprimand for having breakfast on our terrace saying we couldn't picnic outside our rooms, which felt a little unfair given that's what the terrace felt for, and given that there were no signs in English telling us not to do so. Given that there were only a limited range of salads on offer for lunch from Mon-Thur, and not many outside options for eating without a car, we all felt that more leniency was needed about bringing your own food into the hotel. The staff when this happened were not very polite in letting their feelings known about this point, which spoiled the afternoon for my two friends.
Review 21:The pool was great and the rooms were spacious and very well decorated. We felt the overall experience was good and good value for money.
Review 22:Bathroom functionality not to the same standard as rest of room. Having to repeat WiFi log-in for every use. Staff at breakfast (who had only to serve tea/coffee and ensure buffet topped up) seemed to lose control easily. (None of these things too serious! -- I will definitely go back)
Review 23:Room ("suite") was very comfortable. Excellent terrace. Quality and inventiveness of the food at dinner was very high indeed. Service at dinner was very efficient. Dinner menu and wine list very good value for the quality. Secure parking.
Review 24:The diner menue was too limited and not up to the French cooking standard.
Review 25:Delightful surroundings and eclectic art.
Review 26:noisy washroom and could hear the neighbors TV
Review 27:the design, the rooms and the gardens. the restaurant was great too !!!
Review 28:We liked the hotel lay out, privacy it offers, the quiet serene ambience, and the character of the location.
Review 29:Breakfast not included
Review 30:We enjoyed our stay here, great room with great facilities, lots of space and lovely decor. Close to beach and restaurant.
Review 31:Everything!
Review 32:The south of France feel-gardens and little nooks to sit and relax all over the gardens.very attractive restaurant -good food. Very helpful staff.
Review 33:We enjoyed our stay immensely....the room was ideal....the facilities great....and the staff were so friendly and helpful, especially the 2 male waiters with our grandson. All meals were very good.
Review 34:The bathroom and toilet especially could have been a bit cleaner. Some body hair here and there made me skeptical. Not enough though to spoil the good feeling i had when staying there
Review 35:Original, charming hotel with a nice garden. Good breakfast great wifi coverage in the rooms and a big parking. Friendly staff and especially to the children. A nice sandy beach is near by, ideal for children.
Review 36:Pleasant large room. Great staff. Very reasonably priced meal with excellent, well presented food. Good service in restaurant. We could spend a lot more time here resting and relaxing.
Review 37:As (almost) everywhere in France, it's challenging to eat outside the 'standard' breakfast, lunch and dinner slots
Review 38:Decent restaurant and service minded staff. e.g. We asked them to make a reservation at another restaurant which turned out to be full, so they imediatley booked an alternative restaurant, with our preferences in mind.
Review 39:The egg boiler at breakfast didn't have enough water to boil a whole egg. People who read out their emails at breakfast in a very loud monotone.
Review 40:Parking and the restaurant. Quirkiness of the hotel layout and the surrounding area.
Review 41:Mirror eggs/omelette can be added to breakfast Midday snack menu could be larger with burgers or club sandwich or simple pasta. And this menu should be available for evenings as well when we do not want to eat at the resto and we are not able to buy takeaway from outside
Review 42:Ground level rooms opening to a garden Good food at the restaurant
Review 43:A little bit cold in the rooms Menu slightly restricted in the restaurant but decent value.
Review 44:Nice hotel - good service - easy to find, plenty of parking and well placed for the Camargue
Review 45:Breakfast !!
Review 46:The quiet, relaxing atmosphere around hotel.
Review 47:Dark room
Review 48:Proximity to L'Espiguette beach
Review 49:Nice place and friendly staff.
Review 50:Frankly, nothing really negative to say...
Review 51:The hotel as such, its design, comfy and Camargue bedroom, service, food, and its budget-friendly prices.
Review 52:The Plastic backed undersheets on the beds!
Review 53:The quiet, relaxing atmosphere around hotel
Review 54:dinner unavailable after 9:30pm
Review 55:Very friendly; checked on our daughter asleep late evening while we popped out for food
Review 56:few places close swimmingpool, beach far for walking, very very long waiting time at the reception for checkin and check out
Review 57:rich tasty breakfast
