Reviews for Hilton Cambridge City Centre

Review 1:What's not to like? We hope to return ASAP.

Review 2:Location excellent. 5 minutes walk from Kings Parade. Staff efficient and courteous. Bedroom spacious, warm, clean and comfortable. Parking on site most convenient.

Review 3:Staff were pompous and unfriendly. No coffee or milks in the room and a dirty wine glass in the bathroom. Grossly overpriced in my opinion.

Review 4:The hotel is spacious and clean. Breakfast was nice with lots of choice. Fantastic location.

Review 5:Only negative was the inability of one team member to understand that I don't eat meat and the subsequent shrug as I explained it again when a burger arrived!

Review 6:Comfortable, clean and well located. Most of the staff were excellent with nothing too much trouble. Valet parking (£22 per night) was really handy and for trips out the car was back within a few minutes.

Review 7:Parking is too expensive with no discount offered at nearby car park. Air con is either too hot or too cold . Facilities are limited

Review 8:Cleanliness and staff were excellent

Review 9:good choice of room service and prompt delivery, but was quite disappointed about the salami pizza - very simple dough, no proper pizza base,.not very tasty, but the deserts were excellent!

Review 10:Fantastic spacious rooms and huge single beds, very comfortable. Staff were very helpful, great breakfast, all very clean, able to leave bags once checked out

Review 11:Breakfast is buffet style and was cold. Not what you'd expect from a hotel of this standard. We did complain and did get refund of breakfast

Review 12:Great location Nicely done up in public areas

Review 13:Staff when we checked out was very rude, especially a lady on reception. Asked us to pay for 'room bill' which we then questioned as we hadn't used room service/mini bar, she quickly interrupted and rudely said 'if you let me finish my sentence!' Couldn't believe it and was very abrupt with us after. Disgusting.

Review 14:Location was brilliant- could walk everywhere. Rooms were decorated beautifully and very clean. Even had sky tv!

Review 15:Although I had a confirmation email from booking.com stating 2 double rooms had been booked including breakfast, the hotel had one of the rooms as single occupancy with no breakfast. Both the rooms were the same price. It took 45 minutes to sort out the problem, and no apology was given. I was made to feel that I was the problem! It really soured my experience.

Review 16:The location is perfect. The breakfast offers good choice.

Review 17:Service at breakfast for tea/coffee was a little On the slow side

Review 18:Excellent location, shops and restaurants within 5 minute walk. Service was very good, especially liked the valet parking service. Rooms were a good size and comfortable.

Review 19:We were placed in a room right above the bar and the party room. Party went onto midnight and were not advised of this at all. Add to the fact that we had a toddler in the room. When I went to reception to complain they shrugged their shoulders and just said sorry. No offer of another room etc. When leaving in the morning no one asked how our stay was which means that they probably had a lot of complaints that night!

Review 20:Nice location and modern facilities.

Review 21:Traffic to hotel busy (took 30 minutes to cover last half mile) due to line up to get into public parking lot, hotel parking is 22 pound a night, adds an edge to the cost.

Review 22:Fantastic breakfast!, excellent location, nice and clean, modern, gym and sauna.

Review 23:Sadly, when we paid the bill at the end, we did so just after breakfast before we had vacated the room and came across the only less than happy staff member. She refused to give us the receipt for my credit card until we had vacated the room. When we queried this she said that housekeeping needed to check the room before our departure! This made no sense at all and when we vacated the room the other receptionist could not understand why this had happened! After such a wonderful stay we were a little disappointed with this experience!

Review 24:Wonderful food -special attention paid to vegetarian Christmas lunch. Huge praise to the chefs ! Very spacious public area and we never felt we were on top of other people even though it was such a busy time. Rooms comfortable with excellent beds and linen. The staff were incredibly attentive - nothing was too much trouble

Review 25:The bedroom was quite cool and we did not succeed in getting the temperature to the desired level despite resetting the thermostat .

Review 26:The location was excellent, the hotel had a very pleasant ambiance . The room was spacious with good facilities.

Review 27:There wasn't any. I enjoyed my stay.

Review 28:The service from friendly staff and the breakfast. The hotel was maintained to a good standard. The lounge area provided a nice environment to relax in.

Review 29:The room was suitable for me and my partner, he booked it for my 21st,on arrival the keys where not working and the staff where very friendlyand explained the situation and we where totally fine with it, we hadour room key an hour later and they where friendly and welcomingthroughout our stay. We had house keeping come on Saturday morning weasked her if she could just hover while we where out, we gave her a tipand wished her a merry christmas. We came back and she had made our bed, replaced our used cups, cleaned the floor and tidy and folded ourclothes for us, was 100% not expecting that. With a little message lefton a bit of paper saying thank you for her tip and wishing us a merryChristmas, she was very thankful and extremely polite. All in all wewhere 101% satisfied with our stay and will be returning to this hotelfor our 3year anniversary :d

Review 30:Staff in dining area were a little inattentive and there was noise from other rooms at night. Food in restaurant was nice but nothing special; have attached a photo of the creme brulee for dessert, which was yummy but not really worth the price.

Review 31:Good location, staff were friendly, hotel was pleasant and clean, complimentary breakfast was good.

Review 32:Expensive, especially price of phone calls: a ripoff. I stayed for three weeks, paid in advance, and it counted for nothing. Staff pleasant but indifferent. After three weeks no one knew me. Bed mattress too hard. Food too pricey in hotel, breakfast no better than Pret a Manger. I ate out after trying them once.

Review 33:Good rooms, wifi, desk for work, high quality bathroom etc., excellent location.

Review 34:Nothing

Review 35:Excellent location - 5 mins stroll to City centre. Very friendly & efficient staff. Spotlessly clean & comfortable room Breakfast - well presented & excellent choice

Review 36:I had booked for myself and my 2 sons- when I stoves I was advised booking was for myself only ( despite a triple room bring ready ).

Review 37:Location Comfortable room Great air conditioning!

Review 38:The hotel was quiet and very comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding as there was infinite variety. Location quite central and close to shops, university colleges and good restaurants.

Review 39:Ordered continental breakfast for room in morning, girl at reception clearly didn't understand what we were asking and as a result order was wrong in the morning (to be fair they did rectify afterwards)

Review 40:Lovely large rooms. Very clean and modern. Great breakfast buffet and friendly concierge.

Review 41:The sauna needs to be turned on by staff despite the fact that the sign next to it tells clients how to turn it on. Staff were extremely brusque when I accidentally pressed the emergency switch but still didn't explain or offer to turn on the sauna. I felt stupid and didn't return!

Review 42:Hotel is comfortable and perfectly situated

Review 43:personnel working at the breakfast area. When person greeting us realised that we were foreigners he showed us the very back table although breakfast area was nearly empty.

Review 44:quiet, clean rooms, good breakfast

Review 45:We spent 2 nights at that hotel and could not get a good night sleep due to a big party on our first night and a wedding on our other night in their main conference facilities on their main floor. Extremely loud music went on until 01:00 am. My daughter was there for an interview at Cambridge University and could have used all the sleep she could get. For the money we spent, that was extremely disappointing and upsetting. Won't go back again. It's a real lack of consideration for customers. Either organize parties or run a hotel where customers can actually relax and sleep.

Review 46:The breakfast area is well organized and makes it really enjoyable. Extremely clean.

Review 47:There is nothing at all luxurious about this hotel. The rooms are bigger than some of the Premier Inns, but that's your lot. No mini bar, bath water lukewarm, nothing at all to make it sparkle. Premier Inn standard everything at twice the price.

Review 48:Location and room size.

Review 49:Not enough concierge staff to cope with increasing queue of guests. Young concierge staff seemed confused and we were told to take our own luggage to our car! Not the kind of service I expect.

Review 50:Location great for our nearby business venue, comfortable beds, clean room and lovely reception and breakfast staff

Review 51:Bar was unavailable due to private function and we were not advised of this when booking. Had planned to meet up with friends in the bar and avoid further travel.

Review 52:congiere not available so I could get my bags from the left luggage room. I told reception that being in room opposite service lift was extremely noisy from early in the morning. No apology just got told that that's the way it is. Definitely overpriced! And we have stayed in many many 4* hotels over the years.

Review 53:The evening staff were extremely helpful but the staff later on the next day were very casual

Review 54:Terrible breakfast experience, certainly not a four star standard. Had to seek out the assistance for so many things even the tea? The food quality was very poor. Fruit, Pineapple was simply not edible as it was more like a raw turnip. Many items had been removed by the staff at 9:35 hrs. There was an urgency placed on us to finish. Noisy building work was also going on during our breakfast time. While the bedroom was satisfactory it was not in keeping with the price. The mini bar was not stocked. The room was an attic type thus the window ledge was high and outside the parapeth was even higher. No view other than the top of an unattractive modern building and sky. Turning on and off the TV was not simple. For instance it kept coming on with a technical notice after it was switched off, lighting up the room at night.

Review 55:Excellent Location, friendly staff, cleaness. Car parking.

Review 56:There was a big party the night we stayed there. Our room was on the second floor and the band was very loud. If you stay consider asking for a room on a higher floor.

Review 57:The location of this property cannot be beat.

Review 58:Unfortunately our stay coincided with a large function on the Saturday evening meaning the bar area was closed and the option of a second bar with karaoke did not appeal!

Review 59:Friendly staff. Proximity to city centre.

Review 60:Charge for car park it is hidden when I booked not mentioned in the booking that is cheating Very low quality breakfast for the money paid Poor reception staff

Review 61:Car parked well

Review 62:Valet parking was extremely helpful. Good selection at the buffet breakfast. Excellent central location within easy walking distance of all the colleges.

Review 63:Surprised for cost of hotel there was no fridge in room. The front receptionist who checked us in was not very impressive , no smile or warmth. Very quietly spoken and when he couldn't answer a question he said. 'You 'll have to ask my colleague".... He should have asked his colleague for us! However breakfast staff were delightful despite been extremely busy.

Review 64:Location/ cleanliness of hotel/ quiet/ comfortable bed

Review 65:This hotel is absolutely perfect for a stay in Cambridge. The service is brilliant and room was really nice. Breakfast was far too good and I ate far too much!

Review 66:We loved the room, spacious, clean & comfortable. Breakfast was lovely. Food cooked to perfection. Dinner in the evening was enjoyable, delicious food, pleasant surroundings.

Review 67:not a bad experience but it would be useful to know in advance how to find the entrance to the hotel's car park.....not easy for a first time visitor breakfast should have been included in the price considering the fairly high price of the room

Review 68:high standard of decoration high standard of cleanliness light spacious feel attractive and well furnished bar area extremely convenient location on site car parking toiletries included as were tea and coffee making facilities........generally high end feel to the hotel

Review 69:Probably not applicable to most travelers but we accidentally left behind some clothing articles. Hotel was helpful in general but there seems to be poor coordination between housekeeping and reception. We arranged with hotel to pick up the item today but I have been sitting in the lobby for twenty minutes still waiting for my items to be retrieved.

Review 70:Clean rooms, good size. Has a bathtub. Excellent location, free wifi, quiet rooms

Review 71:Breakfast was nothing special

Review 72:Room very comfortable, in particular the beds and pillows. Reception staff very good but floor/restaurant/bar staff were poor I thought. Almost no native English speakers among them so a few incidences of language barriers

Review 73:It was a pain trying to drive to the hotel. They charged £20* to one night parking which we was next expected or experienced in other hotel before.

Review 74:Really close to punts and university

Review 75:Barely literate staff at reception. Not knowing the huge fee for parking in advance. No free newspapers for a room that expensive. Inadequate map of Cambridge.

Review 76:Location. Clean, modern and comfortable.

Review 77:The tea at breakfast on both mornings was undrinkable. It was simply coloured water. You should invest in better quality teabags.

Review 78:The whole ambience was good. The staff were helpful and professional. Car parking method was a good idea for a centrally-located hotel.

Review 79:Parking expensive but you'd expect that in central city location

Review 80:Valet parking until 2pm next day gave us time to explore Cambridge from central location of hotel. Executive room was good size, comfortable bed - generally very nice room. Breakfast was busy but well organised and food was lovely.

Review 81:The price is far too high for the overall standard of the rooms - the decor, room size and general facilities definitely do not warrant a tag of around £200 per night.Breakfast was above average although danish pastries were stale.

Review 82:Staff very welcoming and attentive.

Review 83:Newspapers we found in the bay area were 100% right wing press. Would be nice for some balance. But this is a very small criticism as we seldom read any papers at hotels

Review 84:Stress free. Really helpful and relaxed staff. Great breakfast. And our dining guests were delighted.

Review 85:The room was for a family of 4 and not enough towels for all of us! Bath mat was very slippery - my husband almost fell in the bath!

Review 86:Location was excellent for us. Staff were very helpful and polite. Could not fault the breakfast next morning. It was excellent.

Review 87:Did not like having to wait in line to be seated at breakfast. Waited for approximately 10 minutes on Sunday morning (a holiday, granted). In general, breakfast staff seemed inexperienced or in too much of a hurry - but were very nice. e.g. asked for tea, brought me coffee; had to ask two people one morning for tea after waiting a considerable time for the first person who never returned.

Review 88:Housekeeping staff always smiling and friendly and very accommodating for our odd timing in the room. Room service was very prompt. Lobby/lounge very comfortable. Wifi worked well everywhere in the hotel. Location, comfort of room, quietness of rooms were all excellent! Thank you!

Review 89:Breakfast was an extra £11 each and had a huge choice but the quality of the produce was poor Watery juices. Bread products not fresh cheap bacon and sausages

Review 90:Fantastic central location Great upmarket hotel spotlessly clean Great bar

Review 91:We had to pay an extra £22 for parking (valet pickup and drop-off at front of the hotel). This was quite expensive considering we had already paid £260 for one night! Also, two double drinks at the bar cost £19!

Review 92:The king size room was very comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice. We had breakfast on the Sunday morning and arrived downstairs for 9am, by 10am people were queuing up so get there early.

Review 93:nothing - would come back

Review 94:Very Well situated with valet parking Booked a superior room which was lovely and spacious and well furnished Few hairs found in bath which was dealt with quickly and re cleaned, otherwise room was spotless. Breakfast was very good quality, and fresh. Staff delightful

Review 95:Drinks at the bar were a little expensive and the cooked breakfast would have been lovely if it had been hot.

Review 96:Lovely hotel, perfect location, would come again

Review 97:Very convenient location; comfortable reception /bar area; good for meeting friends, valet parking very efficient, room well appointed and comfortable. Also rooms were really quiet.

Review 98:Restaurant staff not very welcoming , was told quite rudely by a young lady that the restaurant didn't open till six.

Review 99:Nice rooms comfortable bens and very clean. Parking onsite Great location.

Review 100:Helpful attentive staff, never felt like the occupancy rate that the breakfast list revealed. Good to see a fully stocked breakfast buffet at 10:30 a.m., with everything looking and tasting fresh, with only 30 minutes to the close of service, and a check with each diner before anything was removed at the close of service.

Review 101:The location was perfect, just a short walk to the tourist areas. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good with a good selection of hot and cold food. We had our first nights evening meal in the hotel restaurant and it was also very good.

Review 102:This hotel offers poor value for money. The room did not warrant the price in terms of comfort or size, and I had a very poor experience with a business call. There was insufficient mobile reception to take the call in my room, so I asked my contact to call me on the room phone. He tried to call reception several times, but they did not pick up or they picked up and hung up - they were clearly very busy. I then had to call him myself on his mobile, from the room phone. The price was outrageously expensive (27 mins at £1.75 per minute!). I discussed it with the manager the next day and he claimed this was acceptable because the price is listed at the back of the brochure that is available in the bedroom. The price list is 6 or 7 lines long, so really ought to be next to the phone so customers can make informed decisions. He said he would investigate the lack of response from reception, but I have not heard back yet. The manager also said there is a facility to dial the room number direct, but this is not indicated on the phone (maybe it's at the back of the brochure...), and I don't usually give my room number out, and my caller didn't think to ask me. Bottom line, he had my name and the hotel number, and that should be enough to get through to me given I wasn't staying at a budget hotel. There were also too few staff at the concierge desk. On the three occasions I went there (around 8am,4pm, 6pm) to use the parking facilities, I ended up queueing/waiting for service to do simple things such as drop off my car keys. Not something I would expect for such an expensive hotel.

Review 103:The room was clean.

Review 104:Only complaint - paying extra £25 for overnight parking!

Review 105:Location was great - very close to river and all of the wonderful colleges etc. Staff were also very pleasant and helpful.

Review 106:We have stayed at this hotel often and, because we are both moderately disabled, we usually ask for an access room on the ground floor. On this occasion this was not possible, so we asked for a room on any floor but close to a lift. We were allocated a room VERY FAR FROM THE LIFT- IN FACT IT COULDN`T HAVE BEEN FARTHER. WE WERE DISAPPOINTED!

Review 107:Comfort of the bedrooms, location made it easy to get to where I was working

Review 108:We had not realised that there was a charge for parking and may have travelled by train had we known. However, the valet parking was very helpful and we did not have to use the car during our stay so it wasn't a huge problem.

Review 109:Hotel Restaurant and Bar were excellent. Lots of comfortable seating available. We made full use of the facilities as other restaurants and Bars in Cambridge were very busy at the weekend. The breakfasts offered a huge variety of food to suit all tastes and the evening meal on Friday was delicious. All staff we spoke to were friendly and our room was spotlessly clean. Nice range of magazines to read in our room. Free WiFi with no annoying password was much appreciated.

Review 110:The price was excessive and was room only . I thought the cost of breakfast was way too high in addition to the room rate.

Review 111:Location was excellent and service was very good too.

Review 112:Breakfast was poor and sound proofing of our room terrible. Woken up but loud music very early in the morning from adjacent room.

Review 113:Location and staff were friendly

Review 114:I thought the price of overnight parking was high at £22 per night and the cost of breakfast on top of already expensive room rates seemed high.

Review 115:The location was excellent

Review 116:The room out view to the Lobby but I guess this can not be changed.

Review 117:Everything from hotel comfort to very friendly and polite staff. Superb location and really well organised breakfast bar.

Review 118:I did not like the fact that all laundry and pressing facilities were out of the hotel and I had to do my own ironing at all times.

Review 119:The location is very good for access to every part of Cambridge and I enjoyed my stay within the hotel itself.

Review 120:A fire alarm involving a short evacuation of the building in the afternoon (when I was having a nap!) & one member of staff was not particularly helpful afterwards. However evacuation procedures good & staff, with the exception of one, generally very helpful and polite throughout my stay.

Review 121:Prime city centre location. Comfortable room. Excellent, reasonably priced, large bar/cafe next to the 1st floor reception area. Very comfortable and quiet after coming back from the theatre. Hot chocolate was superb!

Review 122:On arrival ,Adrian J. greeted us.As the Concierge was away from the desk,he stepped in and dealt with the parking admin. He has excellent recall. Breakfast-Zoltan is excellent, seating us in an appropriate area and is friendly, efficient and kind.

Review 123:Nothing in particular but the price was twice what I paid in central London and didn't include bfast . Everything ok but not at that price perhaps 180 .

Review 124:Good location . Staff friendly . Lifts shambolic only one in service .

Review 125:The restaurant is fine for breakfast but a bit lacking in atmosphere for the evening. The gym is a bit faded - adequate for a workout away from home if there is no-one else there but the equipment is sparse and aging and the the room itself is not very big. Not up to standard for a current city centre hotel gym.

Review 126:Good comfortable hotel right in the centre of Cambridge. Pleasant staff and lovely room.

Review 127:A spa would be nice but I realise space is limited!

Review 128:Great location, comfortable rooms, free wifi everywhere, valet parking (cheaper than city centre carparks), excellent buffet breakfast. Lovely staffGood value for the tourist city centre.

Review 129:the bathroom could have been cleaner and it was a bit too cold

Review 130:the room was very well decorated and lovely the staff was really nice and the location could not be better

Review 131:The fact that the hotel hikes up the prices at the start of term. We paid £70 m9re for one night than we usually do!!

Review 132:The hotel is central, has its own parking and the breakfast is excellent.

Review 133:I got that wow feeling of being in a nice hotel when we entered reception. Staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast excellent. The room felt and smelt as though no-one had ever stayed in it before.

Review 134:Not enough variety at breakfast- limited cereal choice and poor fruit selection. Overall breakfast over priced. Coffee served in chipped cup

Review 135:Friendly staff

Review 136:Cheap loo roll and no bath robes! Central Cambridge is never going to be cheap but for this price it's a little thing you expect. Everything else about this hotel feels luxurious.

Review 137:Excellent location, and the valet parking made things very easy. The bed was very comfy, and the breakfast mainly excellent (apart from the watery scrambled eggs).

Review 138:The additional price of the Car Park. Thought this was included in ourcost, as this charge was not made clear when booking.Appreciate car wason site, but at £22.00 per night, I feel a little excessive.

Review 139:Hotel in walking distance to all site seeing venues.
