Reviews for Holtwhites Hotel
Review 1:No hot water for a shower or a wash, had to meet. Liners after having a cold wash. No receptionist for any information Bathroom was so cold
Review 2:The bed was comfortable
Review 3:The rooms were small with poor facilities. We had to move rooms due to the cleanliness and poor finish of our first room (holes in blind, floor dirty, broken chair, stained toilet seat) to name a few. Our second room was better, however, the light was broken so very dark, the blind had holes in and there was no hot water in the morning so we were unable to shower. There was no receptionist at the desk to speak to in the morning or when we left at half past 9.
Review 4:Car parking space
Review 5:Room was non-smoking but obviously the previous guest hadn't complied so the room stank of old tobacco and the ferocious air freshener didn't resolve the matter either! Had to sleep with the window opening just to breath...the double room in the attic was a but claustrophobic.
Review 6:Good central location. Warm, well heated. The twin bedded room we had was light and airy although the other double room was somewhat cramped. No breakfast facilities but there was a Weatherspoons close by.
Review 7:Wifi would not work in room , and the tv is the smallest I have ever seen No safety bars in bath / shower and poor water pressure No elevator
Review 8:Location ,pleasant staff , comfortable room
Review 9:Adjusting to time change. Housekeepers seemed to be yelling their conversations down the hall.asked at desk and this was remedied.
Review 10:Had everything we needed. Desk staff helpful.nice location.bus made visits to see new baby grandson and shopping in Enfield a snap.
Review 11:Shower wasn't great and wifi wasn't available. Otherwise, it was fine!
Review 12:Reasonably priced, (or, very good price for London!) good location and clean room. Friendly and comfortable.
Review 13:Great central location in Salisbury close to shops, restaurants and bars, the room was very clean and so was the bathroom. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definately recommend to a friend!
Review 14:There were non-English speaking people on the premises - immigrants, I resent paying a lot of money for my stay there and also as a tax payer paying for these people as well, never again
Review 15:The location
Review 16:Requested quiet room but room was on a main road by busy junction (Other rooms on back would have been quieter). Room very hot (this November unusually warm but bedding for colder weather) and room even more noisy with window open. Also, the toilet seat was not attached properly. Normal sized kettle was extremely difficult to fill from modern sink tap.
Review 17:Convenient location, very clean, reasonable sized room, lovely shower.
Review 18:The receptionist walked in without knocking or apologising. I only knew it was reception because the men in the hall told me.
Review 19:Thw location was perfect for what we wanted. The place was simple, but clean so fine for the price.
Review 20:Broken biscuits and sweets on the floor next to beds, down side of bedside table. Worth moving beds to clean better and to make the beds better as sheets are not tucked all round.
Review 21:Lovely staff, on site parking.
Review 22:Stayed saturday evening as we attended a wedding, early sunday morning was woken by extremely noisy occupents of various rooms aling our corridor, talking loudly and consistent banging, did not appreciate this, especially on a sunday. Not the hotels dault tho.
Review 23:hotel staff very friendly and pleasant, and helpful when needed, especially when a friend arrived to meet us but had got caught in rain, staff gave her a towel to dry herself off, which was much appreciated.
Review 24:No towels in room and no one on reception overnight to help. The fire exit was through the bedroom I stayed in meaning anyone could have come in by breaking the door release!
Review 25:Location - close to the station. Able to book in early. Comfy bed and pillows.
Review 26:The staff barely managed a word during check in. Once I'd paid I was given keys, told the room was "up the stairs" and that was it. No explanations about the room, facilities, check out time, wi-fi, the door keys or anything. I don't expect a lot from a budget hotel, but a little politeness and service costs nothing!
Review 27:The room was clean and tidy, with tea/coffee facilities. Reasonable value for money for one person on a business trip in the area.
Review 28:There was a lack of Dodd and cold drink facilities on site
Review 29:The location was great for what I had to do, could do with having some food done on site if not a vending machine or cold drinks machine
Review 30:Nothing bad about the experience
Review 31:It was in a great location and had nice staff who made us feel welcome. The car park was very useful for us. Staff were helpful and booked us a good taxi service for a wedding we were attending.
Review 32:All was good except there was no breakfast included my one night book stay.
Review 33:Near to the Enfield Town and High Street and also to Lee Athletic Sports Valley (4 miles approx) for my London to Milton Keynes 60 mile Charity Ride the next morning. Spacious, beautiful room with en suite bathroom including bathtub and free towels. Helpful and courteous reception staff. Bicycle friendly hotel as they allowed me and my partner's bikes into the reception for an overnight storage at no extra cost. Free wifi.
Review 34:If you are looking for basic accommodation with clean sheets and bathroom this fits the bill. I was out most of the time and just needed the bed and bathroom facilities. Staff (reception and cleaning) were very nice, friendly and most helpful. The location was very good with restaurants and cafes on the same street and a short stroll away from the Enfield High Street (10-15mins). Definitely not luxury or high end accommodation and the rooms are tired (at least mine was), but it suited my purposes/budget.
Review 35:Noisy main road, take earplugs if your a light sleeper. Appreciated this is outside of the hotels control.
Review 36:Convenient location and parking. The staff were just so lovely and helpful. Local shops and restaurants made it just perfect.
Review 37:Very noisy in all respects. A lot of street noise coming in from outside as the hotel is located on a busy intersection. Even more noise from the adjacent rooms; the walls really are paper thin, we could hear every word of every conversation in neighbouring rooms and they were not speaking particularly loudly. Lastly, the bathroom. While it was clean and modern, the toilet didn't flush properly, and the shower took ages to produce tepid water at a truly poor water pressure - it was just a trickle.
Review 38:Good parking facilities, and the hotel was clean and tidy. Staff were friendly enough. Close to shops and a few restaurants.
Review 39:Room next to busy street. But worst thing was no Wi-Fi. 12 networks found in room but none belonged to the hotel (which supposedly had 2). In a modern hotel to have Wi-Fi that doesn't reach anywhere near to the guest rooms seems unacceptable.
Review 40:Staff ok, room quite good, bathroom fine, price competitive.
Review 41:Tiny single room poor noise insulation had a noisy neighbour and heard TV till 1:00am!
Review 42:Very convenient for enfield and stations. Staff very friendly and helpful
Review 43:Room 3 is not recommended as it overlooks a busy road and I had to have the window open to get some fresh air and as a result cloud hear road traffic noise all night long and hardly slept, the hot water took ages to come through the taps and the shower pressure is poor
Review 44:Cleanliness and convienancee
Review 45:Very noisy but this may have been the the guests on that particular night. Room was quite hot and difficult to cool down Parking was a bit tight
Review 46:Good location just off M25
Review 47:Double bed size was too small for two persons to sleep comfortably in & wifi was only available in certain areas of the hotel.
Review 48:Pretty boutique hotel with all necessary amenities and with a very friendly and helpful staff
Review 49:No wifi in rooms Small rooms no air con Dirty and out dated bathroom suite, didn't use the shower as the bath was stained and grubby.
Review 50:Central location
Review 51:The service is pretty basic.
Review 52:This is not a hotel de grande luxe but it serves the purpose of providing a clean and affordable bed for a night or two. It is convenient if you are visiting Enfield and there are reasonable places to eat nearby, even on a Sunday morning.
Review 53:Sound insulation between rooms quite bad. I could hear conversation and every word of the radio person next door was listening to. Could do with instructions in room on how to open/close dormer window safely using the pole.
Review 54:Tea and coffee facilities in room. Loads of places to have breakfast/dinner etc on the same road. Nice bedding and decor. Well done. Good location. Easy to get to from local stations. Near town centre and green spaces.
Review 55:No breakfast but.....
Review 56:.........the café on the corner Very Very good value opens at 6.30 be there before 10.00 go for the early bird menu. it would be good if Bookings.com would tell US that, i.e. (good café on the corner)
Review 57:The room was rather too warm and opening the windows let in traffic and other noise. However I could have had use of a fan from reception and this was only a minor issue.
Review 58:Great location with good local amenities. Clean & comfortable single room at a reasonable price. The young man (Coz)? On reception couldn't have been more helpful. He made me most welcome and even offered to carry my bike into the hotel where he kept it safe and secure for the night.
Review 59:The hotel has smartened up considerably since our last stay. Its location is excellent for the rail line into London and for the local bus services. No food provided, but excellent all day eating places both across the road and nearby and the best Indian eatery anywhere.
Review 60:Well water was once hot and then cold very loud and exact on the traffic lights so no good for older couples or pensioners same for the families with young kids!More like a B&B then a hotel.Says it has been recently refurbished not clearly noticeable!Beds are absloute nightmare more like a trampolines!!!!
Review 61:Staff are friendly and trying their best however when it comes to the hotel is poor over all!
Review 62:Not a problem for us, but disabled would struggle with the steep narrow stairs.
Review 63:Off street parking. No breakfast, but convenient cafe literally over the street.
Review 64:Although out of the hotel's control, there was no water in the hotel on our last day due to a mains burst in the area
Review 65:clean and comfortable with a good selection of places to eat nearby
Review 66:On entering the room there was a distinct smell of cigarette smoke. The painted shower tiles were peeling.
Review 67:The gentleman on reception was pleasant and helpful. The bed was beautifully made up with attractive bedding and cushions.
Review 68:Shower not running properly, no bin in the room except the toilet, dirty carpet, too warm due to weather and lack of AC, receptionist not friendly.
Review 69:Size of the room
Review 70:We had the smallest room, bathroom was tiny(our knees touched the door whilst on toilet),we jack and jilled another room so only a door separated us from next door, meaning we heard everything they said.
Review 71:The hotel was very clean, staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 72:Only slightly negative is no air in the room on a really hot weekend. Could have done with a fan.
Review 73:Really helpful man on reception when I arrived. Bathroom was clean as was the bedroom. Perfect for what I needed for the night thank you!
Review 74:Shower was rubbish. Paper thin walls so other guest were heard. Parking was very limited.
Review 75:Location was good for where I was on business. Beds were clean and comfortable.
Review 76:Shower was just a trickle ! In an attic room with windows overlooked by properties next door ! Only way to be private was to have the blind down !
Review 77:Comfy bed !
Review 78:Shower stuck on 38 degrees and no ventilation so mould in shower No air conditioning Out side window cigarette buts and old bags of chips Smell of drains by the sink in bedroom
Review 79:Location
Review 80:Carpet was very shabby
Review 81:Beds were great, bathroom was spotless and shower good. Staff very helpful. Very good advice on where to eat. Great cafe opposite for breakfast
Review 82:Road rather noisy , no breakfast facilities , but excellent cafes across the road .
Review 83:Location excellent . Rooms well decorated and bed comfortable . Staff helpful on booking - local facilities Upgraded ... Nice small hotel . Unavoidably delayed so arrived very late - staff member responded within minutes - so great !
Review 84:Broken bedside draw - not a problem though
Review 85:£70 for ensuite close to the wedding we were attending Secure FREE car park 12pm check-in Clean Close to a Wetherspoons for breakfast We were able to leave luggage in reception for 1hr after check out whilst we had breakfast across the road.
Review 86:Room overlooked a road junction, car park was inadequate and verging on dangerous and even worse was the evening chats in the garden by numerous people drinking.
Review 87:Room was Ok and wi-fi very good
Review 88:Drunken building site workers causing havoc to the early hours of the morning, this hotel has no staff after 10 o’clock at night and was a disaster. The signs were there when I arrived at 6 o’clock with car park full of vans and a group of men drinking cans of Stella at the side of the hotel, when I booked in the receptionist was behind a glazed security screen like you see at a bank. These drunken men returned from the pub about 11 o’clock and piled into the room next to mine being extremely loud with the telly on full blast and it was then that I discovered that the cupboard door was in fact a connecting door to the next room with tissue paper stuffed in the lock. The noise was deafening and continued to the early hours. When the occupier of that room was left alone to fall asleep the telly was still on full blast and it stayed like that until 5 o’clock in the morning. I complained to the staff in the morning and there were dismissive, “there was a phone number in reception you could have called”, like I was going to do that at 3 o’clock in the morning. Plus the room was tiny, the ensuite ridiculously small and no breakfast “you need to go to the cafe across the road”. How can anyone run hotel like this with no controls?
Review 89:Nothing, total disastaer
Review 90:only bad thing was the duvet jeez i think it must have been a 25 tog rating HOT is an under statement
Review 91:it was clean staff friendly and helpful, a couple of nice looking bars nearby, although we didnt use them as needed to get to the Ally pally
Review 92:Booked on behalf of work colleagues - they said what a nice place it was to stay and would like to stay again when working in Enfield. Thanks Holtwhites! :)
Review 93:Only one bedside light in our double room, small bath towels and no hairdryer. Whilst hotel is in a central location it is on the corner of a noisy traffic crossroads.
Review 94:Good location near cafes and a pub (weatherspoon) Newly decorated with good decor and carpets.
Review 95:Every night there was a very strong smell of smoke. We complained but nothing was done about it. We were rudely woken up at 6AM on our last day and forced out of our room to move our car as they were doing work in the car park. If we had been aware of this we would not have booked there
Review 96:Location suited us
Review 97:The room (called superior) was cramped and the light over the sink wasn't working. It took all day to get fixed-- the electrician on site did not realise that to test a new strip light the plastic cover had to be fitted (a safety device).Parking was also cramped.
Review 98:The location was good for our purposes.
Review 99:Top floor for seniors with no elevator presented some challenges. Room was quite unique (like a converted attic bedroom) but enjoyable stay.
Review 100:Pleasant staff, very clean, good location, quiet.
Review 101:no phones in the room no wifi in the room if you wanted to use your laptop you had to go to the lounge and that was closed at 10pm every night WILL NOT BE STAYING THERE AGAIN
Review 102:nothing
Review 103:We got back to our room on the Monday evening to find it had not been made up. We also booked a separate room for our son and his shower did not work.
Review 104:Nothing.
Review 105:Unadjustable/preset shower temperature which means the water was just lukewarm - no hot water. Shower pressure was extremely low, it took ages to have a proper wash and I felt like they don't want you to have a shower at all.
Review 106:Clean room.
Review 107:There was no means to turn off the heating when it came on at night and stayed on, making the room extra hot. The water pressure in the shower was also non-existant, which I reported to reception the following morning. These are the only two things that really dragged down the quality of my overnight stay.
Review 108:The staff were friendly, the facilities were very clean and modern given the building and the room felt secure.
Review 109:The room was small and tattie. Everything seemed to be falling apart or in need of replacing or redecorating. I wouldn't stay there again.
Review 110:The Hotels location to our venue.
Review 111:Room was very small, however was fine for 1 night. The on suite was tiny too. Slightly noisey location, can hear the traffic, but for £50 can't complain.
Review 112:The location was great for us. The bed was comfortable. Had a car park.
Review 113:It is extremely costly for the price I paid. there is nothing to justify paying £65 a night. They do not even provide breakfast. The place look old and it is more like a hostel not hotel. The room was very small and i could hardly manoeuvre myself. There is no proper chair to sit on and do some studying or note taking.
Review 114:The location is fantastic right next t the train station and local restaurants and shopping centre.
Review 115:had no wifi and the tv didn't work. I got several phone calls on the day of check in asking when I would be checking in, the shower water was cold so wasn't able to enjoy a warm shower before checking out
Review 116:The only downside to our trip was that there was no cold water from the taps in our room.
Review 117:Lovely hotel and grwat location for a trip into London. Staff very helpful and room lovely.
Review 118:The room itself was basic which was fair for the price however it was like being in a cell. There was nothing about the room that was appealing. The window once open would shut properly and the shower was either too hot as in scalding or freezing.
Review 119:I liked the location as it was not far from shops and local place to eat and drink. The wifi facilities were good an available throughout the hotel including the room.
Review 120:Room smelt of smoke, being a non smoker it wasn't pleasant, had problems with tv poor signal on most channels, the sink was blocked so it was filled with dirty water.
Review 121:Location good with plenty of pubs and eating places
Review 122:The shower did not work very well due to lack of pressure, reported it to staff who immediately took note of it!
Review 123:Stayed here some time ago, was awful then bit has been completely redecorated, no smokey smell anymore, very clean now I'm delighted to say! Staff were extremely helpful
Review 124:The room could be cleaner, the walls were dirty, the heater in bathroom was extremely hot and there was no control to reduce the heat. Also when we arrived the room was extremely hot because the heat was on max. but at least this one could be reduced. The bed on one site had a hole in materrace what wasnt comfortable to lie in.
Review 125:The girl at the reception was kind.
Review 126:Minute wc,.unable to sit down on toilet with door open. One bedside light between two. Hard bed.
Review 127:Cleanliness, new decor, quietness. Complimentary seasonakl chocs,
Review 128:would be nice to have breakfast available, even if it was just a pastry and a coffee to go
Review 129:Clean, good price, very friendly welcome (I arrived very late after a long drive). I would come back on another trip to London.
Review 130:The location wasn't ideal as struggled to find somewhere to eat, but this was more my fault. The room spacious, however it was filthy. The bed wasn't comfy at all and the TV was a stupid size. The Wifi also wasn't working at the time.
Review 131:The Hotel had a car park.
Review 132:No cot for the baby and room is some what small
Review 133:Nice hotel
Review 134:Friendly stuff and really hygienic
Review 135:Room was not checked there was a loud buzzing noise all night long fan/control gear in light
Review 136:Close to where I was going
Review 137:Excellent location and clean and tidy hotel with lovely rooms
Review 138:Amazing and friendly stuff
Review 139:Price, clean. Good cafe opposite for breakfast good curry house opposite
Review 140:Good low cost place to stay
