Reviews for King Arthurs Arms

Review 1:Food menu was a bit bland & a tad over priced, the bar was a bit tacky, cocktails, shots, chrome & neon for all to see which would suggest the bar area has an identity issue as not in-keeping with the building, though I appreciate the need to diversify to appeal to the masses. Cash point a bit too close to the dining tables as is the main cash point for the town so expect frequent visitors to your table especially on Saturday evenings. Bar tenders scruffy but pleasant & polite enough ;)

Review 2:Initial greeting & facilities were spot on... The annex was spacious, very clean & very comfortable with lovely fixtures & fittings ( Free ample parking right outside is always a bonus!)

Review 3:We were given one of several rooms with facilities for disabled visitors, it was large & well appointed, very clean, there was easy access from the adjacent car park.

Review 4:The accommodation was adjacent to the King Arthur's Arms Hotel and in a very convenient location. The room was well fitted out and comfortable. The food at the hotel was excellent - really good country cooking. We enjoyed our stay.

Review 5:The bed was not comfortable for us and the food was ok but not brilliant. The veggie cooked breakfast was a little disappointing.

Review 6:The staff were very friendly and the range of drinks available at the bar was very good. Parking is in an adjacent pay and display but they give you a VIP pass. They are very dog friendly which was nice to see.

Review 7:stafff very kind. especially mr Jerome, he helps me whith information about transportation, and called a taxi from tintagel to Bodmin, and Bodmin to Tintagel.

Review 8:Nothing, we had a very relaxing stay.

Review 9:The Room was lovely, clean and comfortable with plenty of space and every facility provided. Very relaxing to be in and was a welcome retreat after a hard day exploring the lovely Cornish coast and surrounding areas. The breakfasts were excellent and the staff made sure you had everything you needed.

Review 10:Would prefer at least some of the rooms to be dog friendly as it is so close to the coast path. Breakfast time should be earlier than 0900 for people who wish to get out early and maximise the time on holiday.

Review 11:Extremely helpful staff and very disabled friendly. Very good breakfast.

Review 12:Food not as good as it was when we visited in the summer.

Review 13:Room was comfortable and had everything we needed. Lovey bathroom too. Good location friendly staff.

Review 14:The location was perfect, room was well set up for wheelchair use and because it was well insulated it was very quiet, the staff were really helpful and friendly

Review 15:Bar/eating area dingy and tacky, basic room, barely clean bathroom, very poor customer service from manager

Review 16:Unfortunately we did not like anything and left without actually staying for our two nights

Review 17:Only a small point but some of the pillows are extremely hard.

Review 18:Fantastic location right in the heart of Tintagel, includes free parking which is a real bonus.

Review 19:bit of confusion over vacating the room, breakfast served between 9-10am, you need to be out of the room by 10am, we went down for breakfast just after 9.30, we didn't get our breakfast till well after 10am, so by the time we got back to our room to pack it was getting on for 11am, cleaner knocked on door and I told them we would be at least 5 mins, shortly after that another member of staff knocked the door, we were told we needed to vacate the room so they could get it ready for change over, whilst we appreciated this, surely it would of been better to inform us when we checked in so that we could of gone to breakfast dead on 9! We felt rushed. Also the noise from the pub went on till just after 12.30am.

Review 20:Staff were lovely, room was huge and bed comfortable, breakfast was nice.

Review 21:Only thing I would say is the veggie breakfast some proper veggie sausages would go down better than the mushed up veggies in breadcrumb that was served

Review 22:The room or suite was perfect even had a hat shoe and bag dryer which came in very handy with the Cornish weather, free wifi was perfect for keeping in touch with the family at home too

Review 23:The weather ha ha.

Review 24:This was an excellent Hotel to stay, the room was fantastic food great staff perfect. We will definitely be back for another visit. Highly recommended.

Review 25:The bathroom (room 4) had a nasty odour which meant it was very unpleasant to use. o the point where we did not use the shower. I certainly would not recommend this room because of the bathroom until it's been refurbished but the other rooms may be better.

Review 26:Great staff, pleasant bedroom, good breakfast

Review 27:The entrance to these rooms were not great. A lot of mess on the stairs to the suite but was cleared very quickly in the morning.

Review 28:Very much in the centre. We had a suite of 2 bedrooms and a sitting room which was great.

Review 29:Quality of food for evenings was too repetitive and no variation. Plenty of options around that offer fresh food which is also of value.

Review 30:Convenient location friendly staff and lovely walks and perfect location for sunset photographs.

Review 31:A little noisy with music but it didn't continue beyond a reasonable hour.

Review 32:A very large family room for an excellent price. Good to see that there were also rooms suited for disabled persons. Breakfast was delicious too.

Review 33:The wet room is large with very good equipment. The beds being fully adjustable are excellent, and the riser/recliner chairs are very comfy and ideal for elderly or disabled. Best room ever had in hotels which are disabled accessible

Review 34:Nothing to dislike

Review 35:Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely big bedroom and wet room. This is a disable friendly place to stay, access is very easy everywhere. Good food.

Review 36:Not much to do if it rains, wifi kept dropping out.

Review 37:Nice big room, ensuite, with a view of the old post office opposite, friendly staff, great meals, and central to all amenities. Some great walks and beautiful coves and scenery.

Review 38:Directly connected to a pub in the 'centre' of Tintagel with good food. Breakfast is serverd in this pub, being cooked freshly after order - I really liked it! Furthermore very good beds.

Review 39:The accommodation was excellent - couldn't have been more centrally located - breakfast good - staff all very pleasant and courteous What more can I say!!! Except we will certainly recommend the "King Arthur's Arms" to any of our friends travelling to your area. Many Thanks wish we had more time to enjoy, hopefully make up for it next time. Rod & Jenny (& Joshua(

Review 40:Mattress too firm hard to move about on it and rooms next to car park and very noisy pub

Review 41:Shower excellent adjustable beds bit too firm but excellent idea as are the lift and rise chairs. Breakfast excellent

Review 42:No barrier between the rooms and the parking lot.

Review 43:They thought of everything. The rooms were fantastic and the staff were great. Surprised by the modern amenities at such a historical site.

Review 44:The food was pretty basic but the prices reflected that - a large menu with something for everyone!!! Veggie sausages woukdbe so much nicer if they were quorn.

Review 45:A good location and a pleasant pub

Review 46:Trying to sleep and hearing scurrying above our heads and squeaking. If I hadn't drove 3 and a half hours to get there I would of asked for a different room! Staff weren't overally helpful. Felt like the signing in part was a lot of hassle for them..

Review 47:I thought the location was amazing, short walk to the castle was fantastic. Free parking, amazing. Food, expensive but decent quality.

Review 48:Central location, close to car park, other pubs and restaurants, shops and a short walk from the castle. Room was nice, very comfy bed. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good too.

Review 49:nothing.

Review 50:Very clean and comfortable room with excellent accessibility and bathroom facilities for a wheelchair user. Probably the best we've stayed in for wheelchair user friendly accessibility.

Review 51:Very handicap friendly! We are not handicapped but surprised at how above and beyond they went! My 2 year old loved that the shower was the entire bathroom!!

Review 52:Shower holder was broken so it had to be used at slow speed or it came out of its cradle.Door edging also coming away.

Review 53:Plenty of room and ...huge bathroom.Comfy bed and nice linen and towels. Large carpark just at the side of the hotel.Food good too.

Review 54:Room was described as large double but was quite small. Breakfast does not start til 9am which was not a problem for us but if you had an early start it would not be good.

Review 55:Warm helpful welcome from staff with convenient parking. Pub food was good and atmosphere cosy with fireplace. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom though tiny was well appointed. Wifi was good in all areas. Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious.

Review 56:Wish I booked for a longer stay!

Review 57:First impressions of the Kings arms pub was first class and the who stay matched this! The food is great, staff are so friendly and the accommodation was so clean

Review 58:everything about the disabled access rooms was very well thought out, from being very spacious to having a nice comfortable chair to sit in and a massive wet room. excellent well done to the staff and owners.

Review 59:Room was old fashioned with one small wardrobe. Room 4 has PRIVATE facilities, you need to go out into the hall to get to your not too nice shower room, key didn't always work! When asked if there was another room at reception we were asked "did we book online" when asked about the private facilities rather than en-suite (perhaps this room is kept for all on-line bookings so that it is a surprise when you get there!), take note of this. Lovely weather!!

Review 60:The location of the hotel is great and right next door to the car park which is idea.

Review 61:The description on booking.com is very misleading. The 'cosy bar' is actually a sticky carpet, darts, pool and sky tv pit. This is cool if this is what you want, but not great if you turn up expecting a quite retreat in the countryside with a young family and the music thumping into your 'family room' keeps the whole family awake until 12.45 am. Then in the morning the manager, charges more than the booking.com rate for the children, who stayed in the room!!!

Review 62:The coastal scenery is fantastic

Review 63:Visited out of season and got a free upgrade to a larger room with ensuite. The inn is very atmospheric, and the pub is virutally the heart of the village. Loved every minute of our stay.

Review 64:Absolutely nothing!

Review 65:It's difficult to summarise all the positives about this place. The accommodation was 1st class - spotless, comfortable and with extras that go well beyond 5-star. Terrific food friendly staff. What's not to like. We'll be back :-)

Review 66:People friendly and welcoming , room very nice and made up every day , huge bathroom , lovely breakfast , evening meals very nice and reasonably priced . Would I return ..... Absolutely !!!

Review 67:Some Shops/Pubs were closed as we were there a Sunday evening and Monday Morning in the area.

Review 68:Lovely Dinner & Breakfast. Comfy Beds and Clean Room and perfect for Tintagel Castle (which is a must see)

Review 69:Stunning views of Tintagel Castle nearby and in a lovely situation. Very good disabled facilities Brilliant weather for late September. (Question 1 above does not include our group, as I was with my sister and brother-in-law Why doesn't survey include the option "other?" I have been forced to answer the question with a not fully accurate answer. Hotel excellent, survey structure poor!

Review 70:Loved the location, close to the castle and beach. loved the post office museum and there was plenty to see in short drives. everyone was really friendly and the weather was great

Review 71:their was nothing to dislike

Review 72:accommodation very comfortable staff very helpful and pleasant breakfast 10 out of 10 the proprietor always on site and available

Review 73:The private bathroom was a walk across a landing although they did provide bath robes for the trip.

Review 74:Good traditional food at very reasonable prices, Clean modern room. excellent service from friendly staff

Review 75:theres nothing to not like!!!

Review 76:the annexe is wonderful, lovely bed linen, staff very helpful and pleasant, lovely breakfast prompt service all in all a must stay in Tintagel

Review 77:Pillows a little too deep for myself due to neck problems

Review 78:Rooms, large, clean and very well appointed. Breakfast was very good Staff very helpful Location Free parking Free wifi

Review 79:Being adjacent to a huge parking lot with the pay machine outside the door made this room noisy day and night. The breakfast was poorly cooked and served in the pub which was smoky and smelly. At $184 per night, this place was greatly overvalued.

Review 80:The room was large and clean and perfectly equipped for a disabled person--but we are not disabled and did not like being in such a room. We asked for another room and were told none was available.

Review 81:We had to come home!

Review 82:The room was large, clean and lovely modern decor with some extra features. We felt it was more like staying in a studio flat with reclining chairs feature fire and large wet room and we had our own private entrance ( we stayed in annexe number 2) Breakfast was yummy as was dinner in the restaurant with big portions ! Very friendly and helpful staff. We visit Cornwall regularly as we have family there, so would definitely stay again and recommend to others thinking of booking.

Review 83:We had been on long journey from grimsby to Cornwall to find out checking time was 2.30 which we had 11.30 . The lady behind the bar was not instreasted , my husband had been in hospital for 7 months and had to wait till 2.30 ? Booking .com was no help still waiting for phone call from them ,not helpful at all ......?it is someone problem ?

Review 84:King Arthur's arms is a lovely place to stay , manager very help ful , the apartment good very clean and comfortable !! Make sure your check book in time .

Review 85:Could do with private parking for guests only but parking is free

Review 86:Great service lovely room Lovely food very cheap Best selection of drinks ever Cocktails only £3.50 each Location

Review 87:nothing

Review 88:We stayed here the night before a two-day walk on the South West Coast Path to Padstow. Location next to huge car park (with free-parking permit) and across from the Old Post Office (key tourist site). Pub food was excellent. Room was spacious and comfortable.

Review 89:We specifically booked a family room over the inn but unfortunately our request was disregarded and we were given a disability room (we are not disabled) located in a large 250+ vehicle parking lot where traffic and people continually passed within 4 feet of our door. There was no ventilation in the room. The disabled/open shower meant the bathroom floor was wet all over so you continually had wet feet. The pillows were very hard. The room was illuminated all night with a green exit sign making it difficult to sleep.

Review 90:excellent staff very hardworking and the unit was clean.

Review 91:Noisy outside in small hours

Review 92:Very large apartment style room with 3 separate bedrooms and a lounge Comfortable beds Free parking Great value for money

Review 93:The fact that the rooms face the car park, but even this didn't matter, after about 7pm the car park's almost empty anyway.and the room has two telivisions so why bother staring at the car park.

Review 94:I liked the enormous room (5) the wet room shower, the huge bed, the reclining armchairs, the two good size flat screen tellys, after a hard day's touring round all the local areas coming back to diinner in the pub and relaxing in the room. The staff were all great and very helpful, the food very good pub food. I stayed two nights and loved it.

Review 95:Stayed in the three bedroom apartment.Very spacious, clean and comfortable rooms.Breakfast is included in the price which was very good as was the pubs food in general.

Review 96:The room was lovely and really comfortable. The pub was really nice to go to in the evening. The breakfast was really nice and they were really accommodating if you wanted other things rather than what was on the main menu.

Review 97:wasnt anything to dislike .a holiday is what you make it

Review 98:Loved the location so easy to go for walks and drive to interesting places.Good selection of pubs to eat and drink in.

Review 99:parking was free on a massive car park but our car was hit and the driver drove off, my husband witnessed the incident, did not get chance to ask the hotel for CCTV as I do not think it was there.

Review 100:the room was ideal for disabled, had mobility chairs and beds, the breakfast was excellent and the food for dinner was amazing, the facilities were fantastic

Review 101:Wanted a separate B&B rather than a central town pub with some B&B beds. The room we had was on the side with entrance straight on to the busy town car park, with a pay machine right outside the room door. The room was hot (as was the weather) and to keep it cool we had the door open - everyone buying car parking tickets could look right in so little privacy! Breakfast was basic and the service slow - we had to keep asking for things more than once (like re-fills of coffee and toast). Having booked for 3 nights, we left after 1 and got one nights money back (having complained after the 10.00 checkout on day 2), so maybe a fair situation. To be fair, we should have worked out the type and location of this property before booking. It would be fine for people who wanted 'fair' facilities in the middle of town.

Review 102:Little really, but as in the following text, we should have worked out some of the problems before booking.

Review 103:Food - sorry, its just pub grub, not great quality but satisfies thehordes of tourists. We soon decided to eat elsewhere, much better. Thiswas an expensive stay but good location.

Review 104:Excellent location in heart of Tintagel The room was clean and roomy

Review 105:The parking lot just outside the room and the paying machine right outside our door.

Review 106:Good modern roomy handicap facilities Lovely staff Central in village Good food and nice atmosphere in restaurant Big TV!

Review 107:We were allocated a room for 3 in the annex. Whilst the room was very modern and contemporary it was not what we expected and It didn't indicate this on thr booking. We would have preferred to have been in the main building. A minor point.

Review 108:We loved the location. The staff were very helpful and friendly and there was always a good atmosphere in the bar.

Review 109:Characterless room. Way overpriced. I wouldn't return as we hoped for a more atmospheric room for that price

Review 110:Clean.

Review 111:There was nothing to dislike

Review 112:Beautiful place to stay

Review 113:Close proximity to family living in vicinity.

Review 114:We came back Saturday night and our door was unlocked and I know I had locked it

Review 115:Our room was lovely, the staff were friendly & accommodating and the food was very good.

Review 116:Parking was excellent, staff very friendly, room immaculate, nothing to complain about

Review 117:Smell of stale beer

Review 118:Our room was above the bar. There was a lot of noise late at night.

Review 119:Excellent Location. Friendly staff.

Review 120:Fantastic location in the centre of Tintagel. Really friendly staff.

Review 121:Staff were really friendly. Food in the pub was excellent. Our room was excellent and the beds very comfortable.

Review 122:We had no complaints.

Review 123:The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. The pub was friendly and the food was good.

Review 124:Location, free parking, good meals and staff were polite.

Review 125:Staff very helpful, nothing was to much trouble.
