Reviews for Tigh na Sgiath Country House Hotel
Review 1:When booking the address made me assume that it was located nearer to Grantown than it was. Having driven for over 5hrs that day we would have liked the option to eat in the restaurant but there was only a 5 course dinner on offer. This was too much for our appetites, so we found ourselves driving again the 10mins into town and back instead of chilling out at the hotel. Shame as the menu looked excellent.
Review 2:The hotel was a fabulous building, in a stunning setting, with an interior to match. Plenty of choice at breakfast. Welcoming host. We did enjoy our overnight stay
Review 3:The restaurant was closed, this hotel is in a rural area, I asked if Thursdays ,that was the night we stayed, was the night the restaurant closed, answer no, it is any night they choose. The hotel was full on Thursday 17th September , still no evening meal We went into Grantown on Spey to the local coop for food Other then that not a bad place to stay
Review 4:Lovely country house, was greeted with a whiskey or sherry. Included breakfast the next morning was absolutely delicious. Comfortable sleep. Would come again!
Review 5:The food was among the best I've had--this chef is amazingly talented! The owners made us feel immediately welcome and relaxed. We loved our stay at Tigh na Sgiath!
Review 6:As an American it was new to me to not have an en suite bathroom, but it was only a small inconvenience.
Review 7:The staff was wonderful, helpful and very kind. We enjoyed our brief visit and would happily stay there again. Our room was nice and well furnished. We appreciated the fruit bowl, welcome dram and bath robes. Our breakfast in the morning was lovely. I enjoyed my french toast thoroughly.
Review 8:Ceiling slope was in bad locations, leading to many head bumps. In a rather out of the way location. Not much to do for entertainment.
Review 9:Staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful, and in room items were a nice touch.
Review 10:A real homely hotel. The owners couldn't do enough for us, they were so friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Would definitely go back if in area in future. Loved watching the squirrels in the garden whilst having breakfast.
Review 11:Unfortunately wifi signal didn't extend to the top floor, thus we couldn't get wifi in our room.
Review 12:The proprietor was very friendly and charming. The breakfast was excellent! The facilities were charming, spotlessly clean and a welcome retreat at the end of a long day of sightseeing.
Review 13:The mattresses were a little tired and didn't sleep well due to that and the skylight which had diffused glass but would benefit from a blind, had these been better we would have rated excellent.
Review 14:The staff were friendly, welcoming and the hotel is beautiful and we'll kept. Liked sitting outside in the garden too, plenty of areas to take in the surroundings.
Review 15:Our sat was brief (1 night) but excellent. The hospitality from the owners was just right. The breakfast was fantastic (porridge is an absolute must), the room well equipped and lovely extra touches.
Review 16:The warm welcome and friendliness of both owners and other guests made this one of our most favourite hotels on our touring holiday of Scotland We were upgraded to a beautiful bedroom and the breakfast was delicious. A house full of character and charm
Review 17:Management and staff friendly and warm. Restaurant food was excellent and the dinning experience was fantastic. Beautiful home and beautiful surroundings. Will stay again, hopefully soon.
Review 18:Very elegant and welcoming hotel. The atmosphere of the hotel - like visiting good friends in a beautiful house. Very cute and friendly cat Warrior greets you at the door. We arrived late and it was very nice to have dinner very tasty. Bathroom with Jacuzzi in our room was that pleasantly surprised us -very lovely and spacious. There was even a built-in TV. Breakfast is beyond praise.
Review 19:Character and style of the hotel with some fantastic period features and a great view over toward the Cairngorms. Made to feel very welcome by Ian on arrival and throughout our stay. Evening meal and breakfast were both very good.
Review 20:Not a criticism really, just a comment - this is a traditional feeling hotel and has accompanying slightly tired décor. In a beautiful area but does not have the expansive views of some places we stayed in Scotland.
Review 21:Very friendly man who greeted us, served breakfast and was available to help if we wanted anything. Characterful old building. Well kept grounds.
Review 22:There was no bad experience.
Review 23:After a long journey, when we did not feel our best or look it, to be invited to take a seat and enjoy a complimentary glass of Sherry or Whiskey was a treat! Our room was immaculate as was the rest of the establishment. The evening meal was superb and well worth what we paid. Overall we loved it!
Review 24:WLAN was not ranging to our room restaurant was not open for dinner !
Review 25:Very friendly owners, comfortable seating in the lobby with fire going in the evening
Review 26:Crossing the landing for the loo was a bit of a nuisance - although our bathroom was private to our room, it was not "en suite".
Review 27:The warmth of the welcome, the peace and tranquility and the feeling that we were guests in someone's beautiful home.
Review 28:Tigh na Sgiath is a lovely building with wonderful views across to the Cairngorms. After a warm welcome we were shown to a beautifully appointed, spacious room that was warm and inviting. Dinner was excellent and all the public rooms were beatifully decorated and set out.
Review 29:Evening menu is not priced and there should be reduction for not taking all the courses.
Review 30:Hospitality was excellent, as was the food. Really enjoyable and relaxing place to stay and explore.
Review 31:Absolutely nothing was out of order!
Review 32:Friendly an generous host! Suberb room and bathroom! Beautiful setting of the house. Red squirrels in the garden. Excellent scottish breakfast!
Review 33:We liked everything about this hotel. Lovely inside and out and a warm welcome from Iain. Dinner was absolutely delicious as was the breakfast. We will definitely visit again.
Review 34:The bathroom being across the hall was odd and I hadn't expectedthat from the description. (However, the bath was huge and the bathroomitself was large and comfortable, with a chair besides the bath.)My only real complaint was that the window in the bathroom door - though one of those you can't see through due to patterns in the glass/plastic - was uncovered (with no curtain or blind attached inside). The toilet is directly in front of the window so I felt quite uncomfortable when using the bathroom for that reason. This would be easily remedied with an interior blind.
Review 35:Almost everything! Brilliant service and lovely room, wonderful food, great location. We intend to return next year.
Review 36:Restaurant was closed on selected night. Slight problem with WiFi connection (depended on position in the room).

Review 46:OMG! We arrived very late from Fort William but despite this, we received an extremely warm welcome as if we were family! Elaine and Ian are the most PERFECT hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The staff were up to Savoy standards and so was the food!! An amazing stay for my birthday with red squirrels in the trees and Prosecco in the bedroom! I wish we could afford to live there permanently. Xxx
