Reviews for Burlington Palm Hotel
Review 1:Having stayed the one night, I could only comment on the slight lack of detail. Great room but no bath plug on the end of the chain.
Review 2:The purpose of my stay was to meet up with old friends who were staying in the hotel. A very good evening was had by all.
Review 3:Aging decor, had a 70's feel. felt like the hotel was specifically catering for seniors.
Review 4:Staff are helpful and joyful. nothing is too much for them.
Review 5:Disappointed that there was no changing facilities next to the swimming pool, walking through a busy restaurant in a bathrobe was not an option. Breakfast starting at 07.45 is to late for a business man. Breakfast was also very greasy.
Review 6:The room was very comfortable, the staff were very polite and very helpful in particular the breakfast staff. Car parking was also very good.
Review 7:Too warm everywhere especially hallways however pool could do with being warmer and steam room ready and avaliable
Review 8:Friendly informative staff large bedroom good breakfast
Review 9:Nothing
Review 10:I Booked a double room with sea view which was excellent. The food at breakfast and evening meal was very good and the service also. The hotel was quiet at this time of year but comfortable. Liked the bar snack option.
Review 11:The two rooms had no views just the walls and windows opposite. This is the first hotel that does not have biscuits with the tea making facilities. . The bathrooms in both had issues both toilets were hard to flush and the shower was worn out in one and the basin taps were in need of replacing as had to turn so hard the pipes strain below . There were cobwebs in the room too and we had to retune the TV as cbbc was still on channel 70 which changed at least 6 months ago to 121 .. small issues but easily remedied just need the right attention to detail then this establishment could be top notch !
Review 12:Location was great staff were good
Review 13:Friendly staff, good location, heating is always on so no worries about being cold , only had breakfast which was nice and plenty of choice. Plenty of car parking
Review 14:Not really a moan but room 11 the sealant around the bath was black in parts especially at the back of the taps, nothing a good scrub wouldn't put right.
Review 15:We have been many times as a touring bowls group and the welcome is always the same, friendly, helpful, nothing too much trouble. We would recommend to anyone.
Review 16:would like to swim before breakfast, as pool should be open from 8. At nearly 9 o'clock it was still closed and only opened when s.o. asked especially for, steam room didn't work (s.th. was broken) English breakfast didn't taste and there was no selection of different jams, chocolate, honey, cheese ..., choice of bar meals poor, barkeeper didn't know common types of cocktails (should be trained)
Review 17:very close to the beach, quiet location, but close to the centre and to beach attractions, room was clean and comfortable, good indoor swimming pool
Review 18:Hotel in need of revamp and updating Double room very small and breakfast not the best Not great value 4 money no entertainment even on the bank hol and hotel seems 2 appeal 2 elderly people Parking onsite was a nitemare
Review 19:Great location and staff very friendly
Review 20:When i opened the windows in our room it would fly out fully no way of stopping it,ie a cord or something in the runners. To close it you had to climb on a footstool then on the dressing table. You had the same problem with the window in the bathroom once you got through the cobwebs. No radio or clock in the room. The curtains were thin which is no good when the sun shines as it just shines through should have blackout curtains. Some of the wall lights need moving, why have wall lights above the bed and one on a sidewall about 1.5 metres away and you can not turn it off without turning off the other one. Charging guests £2 to (when the guest is already paying £90 per night for b&b) hire a towel to use in the swimming pool when you boast about the hotel being the only one in Great Yarmouth with an indoor pool. Wallpaper in the hotel peeling off the walls, damp patch on the ceiling in the dinning room.
Review 21:As I was escorting a special olympics gymnast, I would have liked to have had a room nearer to him. Would have liked a sea view! A little noisy in the bar as there were some younger men who were drunk.
Review 22:Friendly staff, breakfast was good.
Review 23:Shower not even adequate, two bacon, one egg, one sausage and one small triangle of fried bread is not a full English breakfast in my opinion, does not give value for money.
Review 24:Allocated room was clean and spacious, free car parking.
Review 25:Receptionist not friendly. Abrupt attitude in fact. The only staff I found accomodating and customer friendly was the cleaner who cleaned our room.
Review 26:Seafront view
Review 27:I liked everything about it. Friendly helpful staff, clean rooms. A seating area outside where we enjoyed a cold Beer and snacks, while watching Ships and Boats sail by. Lovely
Review 28:Walls are thin, woken in the night by someone slamming the lift door which was right outside our room
Review 29:Great location, everything you need in the rooms, plenty of free parking
Review 30:Nothing bad however room was a little dated.
Review 31:Exceptional staff and management, couldn't do enough for you to ensure your stay was brilliant! From the young lad serving in the restaurant to the chef helping with dietary requirements and gentleman opening the 'child locked' window for us - all amazing. Food in the evening was fantastic as well as lovely breakfast,
Review 32:Excellent hotel in a great location, I was very happy with my stay. Lovely clean Bedroom and Bathroom. Very generous meal portions, and very friendly staff. Parking is expensive in Gt Yarmouth but this hotel had free parking. I will be back.
Review 33:I expected a full breakfast to include mushrooms and beans that was an extra £6.Minimum towels supplied if you wanted more again a fee. No barman at bar when I wanted a drink gave up in the end (Saturday evening).
Review 34:Tea making facilities good
Review 35:We booked a single + double room online but a family room suited us better which were given but were still charged the price of 2 rooms. Adjoining room was in much better condition than our double room
Review 36:Friendly staff, great location, excellent service at breakfast.
Review 37:Staff in restaurant not approachable, didn't take any notice of us when we were waiting to be told where to sit. Seemed to expect us to know where to go & what to do for self service.
Review 38:Small swimming pool which we had virtually to ourselves in the evenings. Room clean & had daily maid service. Lots of parking spaces.
Review 39:Wasn't anything we didn't like .
Review 40:If you wanted anything nothing was to much trouble ... All the staff was so friendly .. We all felt relaxed . My mother and father in law was with us and loved it . Will definitely go back :)
Review 41:very stuffy room had to have window open and loud music was playing untill early morning partner woke up with a bad headache due to the lack of oxygen in the room.
Review 42:the location
Review 43:breakfast names on table did not like would prefere to sit where I liked. The table we had was badly positioned by door to little and dirty table cloth not much room to move , Sunday morning at breakfast, table cloths were stained and sugar all over it , the floor hadnt been hoovered it was very messy , even the chairs had food over them , did tell reception lady who was going to pass info on to managment .
Review 44:Bedroom clean comfy bed ,breakfast food very good
Review 45:was not worth 90 pounds for one night.mould around the bath. rusty radiator in the bathroom went to open the window and the curtains fell down.tablecloth at breakfast was covered in tea and coffee stains.on a plus side staff were lovely.
Review 46:location.
Review 47:Poor sound proofing: you can hear every move of the next door occupants. It's expensive given how old the facilities are. WiFi was not working well on 3rd floor.
Review 48:Excellent breakfast, car parking and indoors swimming pool.
Review 49:Shower in swimming pool changing area was broken on both days, after I reported it on the first day.
Review 50:A swimming pool was available. Pleasant staff, good food good location.
Review 51:Great hotel and staff, my only very small niggle was the amount of oil on the breakfast plate after the food had been cooked. But a fantastic hotel non the less
Review 52:Top hotel.
Review 53:Unfriendly breakfast staff. Local quality breakfast needs updating. Would have been nice if reception staff had asked if we had enjoyed our stay !
Review 54:Very clean and comfortable excellent location.
Review 55:The breakfast options were very limited, with the only upgrade option being a £6 charge for essentially double the breakfast provided. Some smaller additional options would have been welcomed. we also felt that a lot of the hotel decor was in need of updating.
Review 56:Location is great. Seaview was lovely and within walking distance of the local amenities. Also would like to say that the weekend barman who was run off of his feet at times was very friendly and accommodating, quickly noting our orders and preferences for each time we visited throughout the weekend.
Review 57:Car park is small and hard to park when busy. Would recommend once you have got a space, not to move the car at all
Review 58:Good size swimming pool, darts and pool table, lovely veggie breakfast
Review 59:rooms a little shabby and dated.
Review 60:Choice of breakfast good , waiter service for hot food , nice to have hot toast. key to front door so can come and go in the evening .
Review 61:The weather was hot, but the room did not have air con & there were no fans available. The bathroom sink, still had toothpaste on from one of the previous guests.
Review 62:A car park was perfect for us. The staff were helpful & courteous. Check-in was simple & quick. The breakfast was traditional.
Review 63:There was no fridge in the room The breakfast was to salty and the coffee was not that good
Review 64:My wife and i took our 2.5 year old to the seaside we were not expecting a bed for her and took her mattress and blanket when we enter the room thete was a bed set up for her that was nice the swimming pool was nice too
Review 65:Décor a little old fashioned, but would not let this put us off staying again.
Review 66:Check in was smooth, staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included in the price and there was a choice of food. The hotel has a lift
Review 67:If I was being VERY picky, we would have liked a wider bed, and room was a little dated, But I can honestly say we would go back, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Can't recommend enough!
Review 68:Everything, staff were welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble The place was spotless, and pool was nice. We had a sea view room.Location & parking fab! Breakfast was amazing... Nice to have decent sausages with the full english, so many hotels use basic/cheap ones, these were delicious!
Review 69:A bit of late night noise from the creaky floorboards upstairs, but it didnt stop us sleeping. The cooked breakfast was a little too greasy.
Review 70:We liked the convenient location; the rooms were adequate; the staff were very accomodating; and we loved the pool.
Review 71:Steam room was not available a dthat was one of my main reSons for choosing this hotel.
Review 72:Bar staff. Breakfast staff made me feel welcome and were friendly and attentive. Also enjoyed Monday nights entertainment.
Review 73:No dislikes whatsoever. Athough room 102 had a lovely view out tosea, water leaked from toilet all the time and shower hardly had anywater flow, a bit difficult when bathing a 15 year old teenager withspecial needs but as we had two rooms could use other room soweren't that bothered.
Review 74:Helpful staff, great breakfast perfectly willing to alter some of theitems on full english to accommodate your likes. Peaceful restaurantlooking out to sea. Hotel set at the quieter end of the sea frontenabling you to walk off your breakfast at a leisurely pace to thebusier part.
Review 75:The room was dirty, found hairs in the beds, on the towels and the bathroom had not been cleaned properly. The hotel layout wasn't ideal, could hear every word of people passing by the room, every time someone went passed it sounded as though they were walking into our room as the door didn't shut properly. The whole hotel is outdated and in need of a complete refurb. Looks like it hasn't changed in 30 years! Most definitely not worth the £80 money. Didn't even attempt the breakfast the next morning, checked out as soon as possible. Most definitely would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would point people to The Kensington Hotel down the road - clean rooms and a lovely breakfast - what more could ask for?!
Review 76:Net curtains fell down in room. Tap in swimming pool shower room came off in our hands. Pool table needs renovation.
Review 77:Friendly, clean, good food and good position. Recommend overall but some quirks where items needed maintenance. Pool was good and parking was easy.
Review 78:Lack of pressure in the shower, which was very annoying.
Review 79:The sea view was appreciated, the itemised breakfast, which ensured you had what you liked instead of having to leave what you did not want.
Review 80:I would prefer thickeror blackout curtains in bedroom so that early in the morning the light doesn't wake you up
Review 81:Room was comfy and spacious and breakfast was good.
Review 82:we stayed for2 nights and both morning breakfast was poor first morning we were put in the small room and we waited 10 mins befor some one came to talk our order then had hair in the brestfast but didn't know if it was one of mine or cooks or waiters and ot put me of. second day we still had to wait for sirvice
Review 83:Every pillow we had was badly stained & some bed sheets Hygiene @ breakfast the cups chipped and dirty had to have them replaced, ? Head waiter poured my tea into another cup at the table spilling down himself and on my shoe and carpet unbelievable.
Review 84:Really friendly welcome and a friendly atmosphere in the hotel. Good standards of comfort and the pool was a lot of fun and whilst not Olympic size, big enough to swim and relax
Review 85:The cloudy weather apon arrival however the morning provided a beautiful sunny sea view from our bed! Absolutely wonderful hotel and room
Review 86:The staff were very friendly and the rooms/ facilities were clean and well presented....
Review 87:Unable to control the heating in our room - we arrived and the room was cold becasue the heating was off (no individual room thermostats). When we then arrived back later that night and the hotel had turned the heating on the room was boiling! The waiter at breakfast was brusque and not welcoming.
Review 88:Welcome reception was good and the bed was comfortable.
Review 89:Service provided with a SMILE !. Good Breakfast and Super Wi Fi Connection. Experienced and Friendly Owners . Good selection of Draught Beers in Small bar
Review 90:Strange layout that you need to walk through the dining room to reach the lift and stairs to rooms. There is another door but with a disabled parent the front door was the closest to the car.
Review 91:Our room was lovely, it must have been newly renovated as it was very modern for an older hotel with a superb on suite and very comfortable bed. The staff were very accommodating and helped my mum aged 92 celebrate an enjoyable early Christmas with her granddaughter who lives in Yarmouth. Thank you.
Review 92:Shower did not work properly, although lots of water coming out, there was no water pressure. WiFi kept dropping out and signal weak, so internet kept timing out. View out of window was a brick wall, very disappointing for a hotel that faces the sea front and racetrack at the back. Loud music downstairs carried on until gone midnight. Not great value for £160 2 night stay, unfortunately will not return.
Review 93:Location, 5 min walk to pier and shops.
Review 94:Room decoration could have been improved.New coat of paint or wallpaper etc.Not really important as I was only staying the one night.
Review 95:Room was suitable for my needs and close to where I needed to be.Staff were helpful. Was given a key so that I could come and go as I pleased during my stay
Review 96:The noise of music in our room as we were trying to get to sleep. Our room was over the bar
Review 97:The sea views and lovely room and bathroom. The food was delicious with very good service.
Review 98:The lift the looked something out off a scary movie Lol
Review 99:Friendly sufficient Hotel good breakfast was good in whole a good experience and it's got swimming pool
Review 100:As this hotel is a number of converted houses the access was difficult for a wheelchair. Doors are narrow and the lifts are very old. If someone left a door open on an upper floor it was necessary to walk all the way to the top floor to check each door. Pool a bit cool.
Review 101:The staff were good so was the food. The hotel was full but service remained good. Shower good with plenty of hot water.
Review 102:Nothing.
Review 103:Location, location, location! On the seafront but well away from the noisy arcades and bars. Wonderful sea views, friendly staff, very comfortable hotel.
Review 104:Not much.
Review 105:It's location was great for walking along the seafront to all the local attractions. The hotel was good value which included a very filling breakfast. The staff were very helpful with sorting out our rooms and allowing us to change at the last minute.
Review 106:It's obviously used generally by old age pensioners. For this reason I'm sure it's why it remains as it is.It could do with a thorough modern refurbishment. Our room had the worse mattress we'd ever slept on, the springs had had it and we dipped in the middle together all night. Feather pillows that weighed a ton. No shel in bathroom for putting toiletries.
Review 107:It was clean, friendly and reasonable for what we wanted. Added advantage was the swimming pool.
Review 108:Single room too small, but its an old building so without a major refit there is not much they can do.
Review 109:Old style BB, 11.00 checkout was better than 10.30 which is often the case, breakfast good with prompt service.
Review 110:Poor girl on reception left on her own on bank holiday to check people in and deal with the bar, tried her best but had never pulled a pint before. Shower was shocking no power behind it, spoke with manager who said they were all the same and no one else had ever complained,
Review 111:Ok for what it was. Breakfast was lovely and staff friendly.
Review 112:Steam room not working.one off the reasons to book.bed very firm.cold room.not allocated a table .seams like we never arrived.
Review 113:Lovely location.staff very helpfull.
Review 114:I stayed at the burlington palm hotel for 4 nights and was very pleased with my stay there. the staff were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, the food was good and there was entertainment in the evenings what more can you ask for in a holiday. also close to town centre. I would go there again.
Review 115:It was all good no complaints well done to the staff
Review 116:It was my 2nd time staying at the Burlington Palm hotel due to location and hotel in general . The room I stayed it was a little too small for a couple and a travel cot and a buggy . The room I had last year had a corridor which was useful for the buggy storage but this year I had room 129 which was next door to the room with the corridor in the corner. So if you have a child ask due that one . The bar is great with lots if space to sit and relax and the prices of the drinks are very reasonable for a hotel. Nice staff and a clean hotel. The beach is directly opposite the hotel and the restaurants and seaside attractions are within walking distance.
Review 117:Evening bar meal cooked to a cinder, noise when in bed from above, in the passagway and from the water pipes not good, full english had no toast, nobody asked me if ok, so I ate what I had and just left, it was to busy to go through the dining room to reception from my room so I just left the key on the bar,
Review 118:I liked everything about the hotel the location was fantastic and the outside appearance was amazing, the Inside lived up to the grand outside and was equally as amazing the room was a good size and was equipt with everything you could need, with a bar, swimming pool and breakfast as well as the option of have dinner what more could you want, the staff were friendly and check in and out was quick and easy
Review 119:Lift only services part of the hotel so had to carry luggage up stairs to room
Review 120:Good size room and shower, quiet enough to sleep with window open, wonderful breakfast and great location with onsite parking
Review 121:I liked everything about the hotel especially the pool & dining areas. Plenty of lounge space & the staff were great. Just had a single room but it was great & had everything I needed to enjoy my stay. I will definitely return.
Review 122:Bed was slightly hard. Heard a man shouting at 4am but I guess this is Great Yarmouth which we hated. Veggie sausage at breakfast was like cardboard.
Review 123:Hotel was slightly outside the busiest part of Great Yarmouth. Inside swimming pool was small but still a swimming pool. Barmaid gave excellent recommendation for a restaurant. Fish options at breakfast were nice to have and a bit different.
Review 124:When will they learn that no one today wants silver service. It's a time waster for the staff & guests should be free to take what they want & when they want from the vegetables etc.
Review 125:The Swimming pool. The food (but see next box) The comfort The staff The Location The entertainment
Review 126:The room was facing a brick wall with windows directly opposite therefore you always needed the curtains closed. Also the shower was just a trickle.
Review 127:Location, staff, cleanliness, facilities excellent.
Review 128:As hotel was on main road traffic was noisy. Being an old building it was a bit noisy
Review 129:Fast checkin Location Comfortable room Clean Breakfast was fair
Review 130:View of another window from our room, very squeaky floorboards in the room, dated decor, not enough pillows, toilet roll not replenished, tiny old fashioned lift that could only fit 1 person in with a suitcase.
Review 131:Location, wi fi, swimming pool, bar area, breakfast, free parking.
Review 132:One girl at breakfast started to show us where to sit and then abandoned us to do something else. Soon picked up by a lovely gent who guided us to the second dining room and good service resumed.
Review 133:Very welcoming staff. Lovely clean room with sea view. Will miss the quirky lift. Lots of choice for breakfast and cooked to order rather than a horrible buffet as is now more common in hotels. Would definitely stay again.
Review 134:Shower's water pressure was very low. Mattress needs updating as the springs can be felt already when lying down.
Review 135:Indoor pool. Very near the seafront and a bus stop and taxi rank was within walking distance. It is very close to the pier and to the shops.
Review 136:We were on the top floor, and the water pressure was low (tank in the roof?). There was no WiFi in the bedroom.
Review 137:An old hotel very well decorated, with excellent beds ,shower cubicle and plastic windows. Its age shows in the size of room (cosy), the antique lift and a couple of the efficient and friendly staff, as were all the staff. Breakfast was excellent. Car parking was adequate. We had a different dining room to the coach parties.
