Reviews for Willowbank

Review 1:Very friendly and helpful hosts. Very good breakfeast. Very clean and comfortable. There was a chance, a very warm meeting in Inveraray Castle with a wonderful couple as with old friends. Many thanks!

Review 2:The tiny television!

Review 3:Warm welcome and offers of help with luggage. The room was a reasonable size and very clean. The breakfast was excellent with a very good choice of food. Off street parking.

Review 4:Shower could be cleaner for the price I expected a much better hotel no wifi in room very worn out furniture. They advertised. A room with a view and when we got there. only one room with a view and it was booked

Review 5:The staff old hotel

Review 6:I didn't like my bathroom being on a different floor to my bedroom; also hand towels were in the bedroom with a sink but there was no hand towel in the bathroom where the toilet was and if I'm being really picky, the bath towels were tiny! Lastly a 13 tog duvet was a little too much for summer even in Scotland!!

Review 7:We all loved breakfast, especially the homemade bread which was gorgeous! The Owner/managers tried very hard to be helpful.

Review 8:We were a group of six and had to assemble to be informed of "The way this Bed and Breakfast works" it works just the same as any other so this was not needed and like being back at school. Also the front door had to be kept locked at all times, not needed in a rural location like this.

Review 9:Good value, good breakfast, Exceptionally clean

Review 10:Everything but especially the hosts. They were delightful and so helpful going the extra mile to accommodate our elderly relative so that she didn't have to use stairs. She was delighted with her room. It made the return to my wife's childhood haunts so special. Thank you

Review 11:The building was Charming The hosts were friendly and welcoming The bedrooms comfortable and well equipped. The bathroom clean and modern. It was a pleasure to stay there.

Review 12:Jon and Jonny were excellent hosts. They are a couple from Holland and are so warm and kind. They made sure that we had the best time out there. The rooms were spotless...very high standard of cleaning! The breakfast was awesome to say the least. Hand made by Jonny. Highly recommend it to everyone visiting Speyside.

Review 13:Small complaint, I found that my room's toilet was on a different floor. No big deal.

Review 14:The briefing by the wonderful owners about locking up, fire routines, and ordering breakfast was longer than the pre-flight check for the space shuttle, but was great fun. They are wonderful people who care about what they do

Review 15:Very helpful and knowledgeable owners. Ideally located for Cairngorms walks and local facilities. Introduced us to Craig's Bar; more of a highland pub and debating chamber combined where they serve pies until late. Unusual to find service after 8:30 pm in rural Scotland.

Review 16:Owners are dutch, very friendly and very helpful. Bathroom was external but as a trade-off it's quite big. Breakfast was good aswell and Grantown-on-spey is actually quite a nice place.

Review 17:The room was quite small. The en-suite was really more a converted cupboard with not a lot of space and no real door.

Review 18:Very friendly hosts (Dutch couple). Good wifi. Location in town close to restaurants. Easy parking on the street outside. Good breakfast.

Review 19:The only downside to our stay was the people in the room above us. They seemed to pace the floor from 10.30pm until the back of 12, when eventually after a big almighty bang, it quietened down. I was disappointed I didn't get a longer sleep in the comfy bed. Obviously this would be a rare occurrence depending on the other guests so not worth any mark downs.

Review 20:Everything about the Willowbank was lovely from when we arrived. The lovely owners, the very nice bedroom and the excellent breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay, would absolutely recommend.

Review 21:Great location, walking distance to hiking trails, pubs, restaurants, supermarkets. Lovely decor, extremely nice proprietors! Clean comfortable rooms and one of the absolute best breakfasts in Scotland! They advised us of a drive back to Edinburgh through the Cairngorms that was thrilling and beautiful!

Review 22:Nothing.

Review 23:The breakfast was great, good selection, very well organized. Great that you chose the night before, as it meant that it was freshly cooked for you without a long wait. The place was very clean and well-run, and our hosts were very friendly, helpful and efficient.

Review 24:Had private bathroom, only thing was, it was on another floor, good thing i had a good bladder, but apart from that it was all good.

Review 25:Host was helpful on places for getting dinner, and it was really great, breakfast was good as well.

Review 26:Breakfast was so/so Fried Eggs Burnt on Bottom. Next day Scrambled eggs were Rubbery. Private Bathroom was down another set of Stairs. Room was Cold at 10.30 at night and Duvet was not warm enough.

Review 27:Not a Lot

Review 28:Despite the similar price (around £80 each), the rooms were very different in size and ambience. The double bed room was HUUGE with another single bed in the room and attached bath. The twin bed room was just the room at the attic with a sloping roof and just about head space for someone short. There was no attached shower and it was on a different floor. The checkin time (4PM) was quite late and quite a change from other B&Bs that would allow an earlier checkin at 2 PM or 3PM. I would gladly pay the amount I paid for the double room (beautiful and gorgeous) but I feel we overpaid for the twin bed room on the top floor.

Review 29:We booked two rooms, (a double and a twin bed room) for the trip as a group of 4 friends (two of us are a couple) with similar pricing. The hosts were absolutely great ! They were very courteous and offered a great amount of advice and support while we stayed

Review 30:Very friendly welcome. Very comfortable accommodation. Owners gave recommendations where to eat and was fantastic. Excellent breakfast. All round first class. Would book again with no hesitation. Highly recommended.

Review 31:mould on bathroom ceiling very dated inside could have been cleaner rooms ours was dusty did not like the folding door used for ensuite would have been better to have a proper door and use this room as single instead the shower was awful either you get scalded or you shiver wouldn't recommend this b and b and certainly not staying again

Review 32:location was excellent for where I was going hosts very welcoming fab breakfast wifi good

Review 33:Hosts were very friendly nothing was to much bother made us feel at home.Breakfast was excellent, room and en suite very clean and comfortable would go back no hesitation.

Review 34:Nothing, though needed earplugs as right beside main entry door

Review 35:Everything. Excellent breakfast, excellent recommendation for pub meal, very comfortable bed.

Review 36:Don't eat at the local pub The Craig, staff there only welcome the locals. They were extremely rude to us and made us feel very unwelcome.

Review 37:Very friendly, welcoming people that go above and beyond to make you comfortable. The breakfast was great and the room had everything we needed and was very clean. Shower was hot and wii fii worked well.

Review 38:The Wifi was not very strong but did work.

Review 39:The hosts were excellent, the rooms were comfy. Location for us was great for what we had planned for vacation. The Breakfast was delicious and more than the basic breakfast in most places.

Review 40:Bit noisy if you are sleeping on the middle floors with noise from the rooms above. Breakfast when it arrived was excellent but a bit late.

Review 41:clean, well maintained and very friendly owners. Good breakfast.

Review 42:Very friendly staff who were only too happy to help with anything we may have asked for. The rooms are very well-decorated and it is evident that a great deal of thought and care has gone into every little thing.

Review 43:Wi-Fi was a little slow and kept dropping off - however appreciate that there are slower connection speeds in the highlands than when compared to inner city, so no big problem really.

Review 44:Tasty breakfast, rooms were comfortable & clean, and offer great value for the area. Is just a shame that I couldn't stay for longer. Will look stay to again if work takes me that way, or if am ever in the area on holiday.

Review 45:The rain .....but you couldn't help that! It didn't spoil our holiday

Review 46:The location is excellent Jan and Janni were very friendly and welcoming Breakfast was excellent and set us up for the day

Review 47:We found this hotel very pleasant to stay and recommend definitely; comfortable room, open, considerate and welcoming people, delicious homemade breakfast, well managed hotel... They offered bikes for a city tour, made very informative recommendations.

Review 48:Very limited wifi connection - but that could have been my signal as had no service most of the time. Lots of long black hair in shower cubicle and on floor in bathroom (not mine)

Review 49:Wonderful hosts, very welcoming and friendly. Room was superb, spacious, tidy, and comfortable. Breakfast was very good and tasty. Would strongly and highly recommend. Definitely would come again!

Review 50:My time was too short. Wish I could stay longer.

Review 51:Great spot to stay for touring the beautiful Scottish highlands. Very comfortable room and most-excellent breakfast. Try the Scottish Breakfast. Also, the scrambled eggs and salmon are perfect. Lots of B&B's in the area, so do yourself a favor and stop looking and start booking your stay at Willowbank!

Review 52:Recommendation to eat in local pub: barman was very hostile and rude. We felt very uncomfortable and left after a quick drink.

Review 53:Very clean, comfortable room Nice hosts and lovely breakfast

Review 54:No A/C which is fair enough - but having to battle to get a fan for the room on top of the proprietors having left the curtains open all day hence turning the room into an oven was not ideal. The 'specifically allocated' bathroom was a little too far from the room (I.e. Downstairs and past several other bedrooms).

Review 55:People, breakfast, beds, view, location

Review 56:Everything. I was travelling with my elderly mother who had nothing but priase for the whole experience. She enjoyed chatting with and the interest they showed in her. The food was excellent and the poached eggs cooked to perfection. The room was well appointed, the beds comfortable and all spotlessly clean.

Review 57:Very clean and comfortable

Review 58:Being locked out. No control over the heating as it was turned off at various times.

Review 82:very nice hosts, pleasant and welcoming. Room spotless and the most comfortable bed we have slept in at a b&b for a very long time!

Review 83:Customer service Choice and quality of breakfast Location
