Reviews for Fantinos

Review 1:Lovely location, although you are close to the centre of Thirsk it is quiet and calm. Lovely room, nice décor and comfortable bed. Loved the flask of fresh milk rather than UHT stuff, nice touch.

Review 2:Nothing really! It was a shame the Restaurant was not open as it is Italian but to be fair it was a Monday night. It would be a good idea to mention this in the description.

Review 3:Quiet. Parking. Good WiFi. Good Breakfast & Coffee. Comfortable bed and linen.

Review 4:Breakfast was poor. I asked for just eggS and bacon, not a full English, I received One egg and two small rashers of cheap overcooked bacon.

Review 5:They can make good toast! Excellent Marmalade

Review 6:Prices for food and wine a tad high.

Review 7:Personable staff made a real difference. The Italuan restaurant has the worlds largest pizza oven and the food was excellent.

Review 8:Nothing .....

Review 9:The genuine welcome, the amazingly comfortable beds, the little extras, the delicious food ...... and ...... a gorgeous little Scottie dog ..... A beautiful place to stay on a lovely road, with amazing countryside and a quaint town on the doorstep.

Review 10:The staff were warm, welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. We (my son and I) ate in the Italian restaurant in the evening, and it was excellent; and a few hours later we had a very good quality breakfast there. Nothing was rushed, or too much trouble and we both felt that we had been served attentively while enjoying our privacy.

Review 11:Everything was perfect.

Review 12:Really nice ambiance driven by attentive, friendly staff. Lovely cozy, well stocked bar. Super location, a great place for a 'get away from it all' break.

Review 13:The room was gorgeous. The staff were very all very welcoming and friendly. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was superb. A wonderful place to stay, can't wait to go back!

Review 14:Very welcoming, staff were lovely, great room, clean, fresh ground coffee in room, bath and shower, quiet location close to town centre and racecourse

Review 15:Location is in a middle of nowhere, couldn't find anything to do after having a great dinner on Sat evening. Be ready to entertain yourself :) Rooms have no view at all, enjoy looking to cloudy sky. *Don't buy the Italian beer with some Italian sitcom actors names, waste of money.

Review 16:Friendly staff, great food/ many thanks the chef, cleanliness and comfort spot on, property is full of character and design is outstanding

Review 17:My only complaint is that we didn't have a garden view or furniture as it had said we would. For me personally the pillows were too soft which effected my comfort overnight.grea

Review 18:We liked the friendliness and effiency of the staff. The meal in the evening and the breakfasts were superb.

Review 19:The B&B is very stylish and quirky. We had a brilliant night's sleep and a delicious breakfast the next morning. The staff were brilliant - very friendly and welcoming. Made us want to come back to Yorkshire!

Review 20:Staff, Emma and Tom especially. Very clean and comfortable not impressed on the opening hours for a Hotel, at what stage would you consider, to be a hotel ? Would not recommend for anything other than an overnight stay, Parking at the front only available for 4 cars,1 of which was taken up by the owner.

Review 21:The fact that we didn't book 2 nights!

Review 22:The owner was a brilliant host and his attention to detail is amazing! The bed was so comfy (7ft wide!) and the bathroom was like something out of a magazine, plus the rolltop bath was a nice luxurious touch. We intend to go back again and again!!!

Review 23:MAYBE MEAL PRICES BIT ON THE HIGH SIDE, BUT FOOD EXCELLENT SO YOU PAY FOR QUALITY AND THE SERVICE. THE WARDROBE IN OUR ROOM HAD NO RAIL, ONLY HOOKS WHICH WERE A PAIN TO HANG CLOTHES ON, COAT HANGERS WOULDN'T FIT?

Review 24:MADE SUCH A FUSS OF US. FELT VERY WELCOME. NOTHING WAS TOO MUCH TROUBLE.

Review 25:We could only stay one night!

Review 26:Only stayed one night as we were on our way to Scotland and needed a break as we had set off on the hottest day of the year and we were on a motorbike! Our room was beautiful, shower great, big bath, good breakfast and we had a pizza cooked in a proper pizza oven which they lit just for us without a word or groan the evening we arrived. Great find.

Review 27:A party of people were staying prior to a triathlon event. Someonethought it a good idea to meet in the courtyard at 6.30 am!!!!!Very noisy.

Review 28:A good location. Friendly staff. Comfortable bed. Plenty of hot water.

Review 29:The only thing that needs to be looked at is the thermostat on the shower, it was scolding hot if you adjusted it too much. That was in the Fiat room, but that would be clutching at straws to find something wrong in this gem.

Review 30:The place was in a beautiful setting the staff where nice and polite the rooms where clean and had everything. The food was superb

Review 31:struggled with the cafetière in the room and wish I had brought my hair drier!

Review 32:loved the decor and feel of the place. The food was superb. Will be returning.

Review 33:The weather lol

Review 34:The feel of the place as you drive through the archway made you feel welcome and that you was actually on holiday. The staff and the owner where great hosts too

Review 35:Excellent service & food. The owner really makes an effort and is interested and attentive. Proper coffee, with cafetiere and flask of fresh milk in room. Also, proper tea bags. Held a business meeting in the lounge in the morning too as it was so nice. Keep it up and see you again for sure.

Review 36:Unfortunately we had to cancel on the morning of our visit as my father had had a massive heart attack and we needed to go to the hospital in Newcastle as he was in theatre. We were charged full price for the stay which included breakfast. I understand they are running a business however a little compassion would not have gone amiss. I would of gladly rearranged our stay for a different day however after being charged in full not long after I made the phone call to the hotel to advise of the predicament the money was debited from my account. As they did not show any compassion at all for the unfortunate situation we were in we would not recommend this hotel to any of my friends or family.

Review 37:Tea and coffee not on a table ... On window ledge. Only cooked breakfast no cereal etc or if there was cereal we weren't told about it

Review 38:Location. Friendly greeting. Size of room

Review 39:Food in restaurant basic and very expensive for what it was. No view from room.

Review 40:Nice peaceful location despite it's "in town" location. Rooms clean and tidy.

Review 41:Breakfast was very slow in being served and staff although are supposed to be informal, which is fine, at times seemed too relaxed, especially when things don't go according to plan.

Review 42:Fabulous bed, great shower, good location and everywhere has been tastefully decorated. A young girl, Georgia, was the waitress, a delight and a pleasure to be looked after by her. A credit for the establishment.

Review 43:we were impressed by the owner Shaun who was so helpful and friendly!the hotel is romantic and the food is very tasty!we would have loved to stay longer.

Review 44:Nothing at all negative

Review 45:I chose Fantinos due to attending a wedding at the local church and opted for a two night stay. The welcome from the staff was very warm, the room decor was lovely and the facilities were perfect for my needs. The bedroom and bathroom were absolutely spotless. The tea/coffee making facilities in the room were good and I appreciated the fresh milk in the insulated flask. Breakfast was lovely, warm and friendly staff making it all the more enjoyable. My son and I really enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend staying at Fantinos to anyone looking to visit the local area. The proximity to town, a wonderful local park just a little higher up Front Street and Thirsk Racecourse means Fantinos is a very well positioned place to stay.

Review 46:Maybe could be more than 2 choices on the evening menu other than pizza and pasta but it's a small quibble .

Review 47:We were very impressed with everything at this lovely, individual hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff. Bedrooms were spotless and everything was top quality. Loved the use of antique furniture in rooms too.

Review 48:Everything, the premises were superb, room was excellent and clean, staff were extremely friendly and obliging - could not be bettered anywhere!! (Great especially for us, as the on-site owner was a Rally Driver, so we exchanged experiences)

Review 49:There was a lovely relaxed feeling around the accommodation and restaurant. The room was neat and tidy, the service was always friendly and polite. The best thing about the stay was probably the comfort of the bed.

Review 50:No TV in room (this was explained before we went to the room. No hanging rail in wardrobe (fixed) no heating in room, heated towel rail did not work in the bathroom and shower did not work. Discount given on final bill

Review 51:Staff,hotel,food were excellent

Review 52:On arrival we checked in, firstly to be told that there would be no pizzas on the menu as the pizza chef was off.(Saturday night!) We were advised that we should of been informed of this as everyone else who was staying had been,( but sadly not me!) Anyway we decided to eat there, because of all the good reports we had read. On ordering our dinner we were then informed that they had run out of a few of the items we had chosen, since we couldn't have our pizza or garlic bread. As you see unprofessional.

Review 53:Accommodation very good, clean and dressing of a high standard. Staff very good and eager to please, BUT! Food was of the best I've tasted and seen presented, including the breakfast.

Review 54:Our stay was to celebrate my wife's birthday and our wedding anniversary. Our enjoyment was somewhat dampened by half the menu being off because nobody could operate the pizza oven, leaving us to select food items which weren't our first choice. This may seem picky but they ran out of squid by 8pm on a Saturday night??? People left to eat elsewhere due to the reduced menu. I paid for an upgrade to a delux room which had only one chair and no table. It's nice to be able to sit at a table when having a cuppa and chat. In our delux room milk was supplied in a flask, that's a hotel first for me. On what was a cold day the room was cold, the radiator was only luke warm with both valves fully open. We had to ask for more heat. No phone in the room, from the room blurb the assumption is everyone who stays has a mobile phone they can use to contact reception. During our visit to Thirsk a cafe owner informed us that during their stay in this establishment their meal experience was somewhat ruined due to a staff shortage. The restaurant still appeared to be under staffed during our stay. During breakfast we observed hygiene issues like hands touching this, that and the other then toast being handled without any hand washing. just a bit off putting. Other customers complained justifiably and left the restaurant before completing their meal.

Review 55:Friendly, efficient, hard working staff. Nice atmosphere. Lovely restaurant, shame about the food issue and apparent under staffing. Breakfast was nice.

Review 56:Night away before baby is due, accommodation was fantastic and the bed for a pregnant lady was very comfy. Also a birthday treat we ate in the restaurant and left full after the most delicious meal. The sea bass special was superb. Would definitely recommend and return possibly after baby has arrived.

Review 57:Really enjoyed our stay. The staff made us feel very welcome and it had a great homely feel. Shame we'd booked somewhere else to eat in the evening before we arrived. We did sample some of the lunchtime menu and found the homemade food really nice! We enjoyed the music too ;)

Review 58:We had just a bit of a problem with the shower found it a bit difficult to get temperature right

Review 59:Restaurant & food very good Sean really good & welcoming host we upgraded & the room was very good & facilities excellent

Review 60:Nothing really bar one extra table in bar as it's so nice.

Review 61:The reception was very welcoming and warm, nothing a problem, fresh milk in chill flask, with tea and a jar of fresh coffee with decanter. The room was spacious and bed comfortable, decor lovely. heating was good and controlled. Breakfast was a delight very tasty and very well presented. We had our meal on the night in their restaurant which was delightful, modern designed lovely. Very inviting, food well it's the best squid I've ever had and I've had a few in my time, very fresh and tasty. Pasta extremely tasty too. Ambiance great staff very friendly and welcoming, helpful throughout the meal and time in bar previous and after mea. The bar is great it could do with maybe one more table in but I'm been picky there. Definitely and a dream stay, can't wait to go back, do we need an occasion like this time unmmhhhh no lol, thank you all.

Review 62:Coming home wish I had of booked 2 nights

Review 63:Excellent place to go outstanding staff & food is fantastic staff & hotel in general outstanding will definitely be back soon

Review 64:Nothing to dislike.

Review 65:What a fantastic place....Staff very friendly and attentive...Food was excellent. The room was lovely and comfortable ...I would definitely return.

Review 66:Monday restaurant closed but did get a reasonable meal at the local pub.Being more of restaurant with rooms there is no lounge area.

Review 67:Welcome on arrival by the owner, quiet room with parking adjacent to the rooms

Review 68:Nothing not to like!

Review 69:the room was lovely and the breakfast was amazing - probably the best Poached eggs I have had in a long - even though they were not on the menu - very accommodating host!

Review 70:The restaurant was not open on Sunday The shower in room would not mix properly though there was plenty of hot water and it was nice to have bath instead beams very low in room for tall people

Review 71:We liked the fact there was a restaurant The bed was huge and very comfortable staff very friendly and helpful the food in the restaurant was very good and the breakfasts were really nicely cooked parking was easy and safe

Review 72:I cannot think of any fault with this establishment. We were welcomed and looked after for the whole time of our visit. we certainly hope to return soon

Review 73:Not really anything to do with Fantinos. I chose Thirsk based upon old memories of a lovely market town, akin to Skipton. We were very disappointed, poor quality shops, rubbish pubs serving rubbish beer and a cheap tacky market. Not the olde worlde town we thought we would be Xmas shopping in. We went back to Fantinos for some well deserved luxury

Review 74:The food was really very good, authentic pizzas as good as anything we have had in Italy. The staff were very attentive, even the youngsters had that special customer service hat, under the watchful eyes of the more experienced and senior staff. Very impressive !! An excellent weekend that will definately be repeated.

Review 75:Only stayed for one night as my husband was attending a training course in the area but I wish I could have stayed for longer. We stayed in a double room in a converted loft part of the building and whilst it wasn't a massive room it had everything that you would need for a brief stay. Nice comfy bed, shower over bath, toiletries, towels, free wifi, TV and tea and coffee facilities. Everything was very clean. Breakfast the next morning was made to order, really nice filling full English breakfast. Sean, the manager/owner was very welcoming and friendly. The buildings themselves are great, nicely designed and have a nice rustic feel to them. There is also plenty of parking. We didn't really explore the local area as we were just staying for the training course so can't really comment on what's around although there is a pub a very short walk away where you can also get food (which we did try as the restaurant was sadly closed on Monday when we stayed) Lovely place, very relaxed atmosphere and we would recommend.

Review 76:Nothing

Review 77:We stayed for the one night I wish it would have been more..the room was lovely and breakfast was the best I've ever had and I've stayed in a lot of bed and breakfast places..

Review 78:Owner and staff were very welcoming. The room was very comfortable, clean and spacious with a huge bathroom. They go the extra mile with the little extras and we are always impressed by a flask of "real" milk on the tea and coffee tray. These are the things that ensure that this establishment stands out from the rest. Highly recommended.

Review 79:not being able to stay for longer!!!

Review 80:tastefully decorated room with true attention to detail and a very, very comfy bed welcoming and helpful staff that made us feel at home the minute we walked through the door the real coffee and tea + fresh milk
