Reviews for The Gleneagles Hotel

Review 1:Went to the Italian restaurant and did not think the food was very good but did not like to take any marks away from hotel as other than that everything was brilliant.

Review 2:Exceptional spa with outdoor jacuzzi which was great in the snow. Did the mini landrover experience with my 4 year old which he has never stopped talking about.

Review 3:Didn't really like the food in barista , dislike that the choice of who we were in your survey was young couple or mature couple only!! What about mr and mrs or young at heart. Feels like I had a great time but I am now a mature couple.

Review 4:Service smiling and polite everywhere, outdoor spa, gentle music would be good, instructions in experience shower rather than trial and error, whole spa brill.

Review 5:Non alcoholic cocktail @ £8 each was a bit over priced

Review 6:The Spa was superb. Large outdoor hot tub and adults only pool, sauna and steam room as well as an indoor hot tub. Magnificent breakfast. Well above many other 5 star british hotels.

Review 7:We stayed for two nights (Friday and Saturday). When we went for breakfast both days, we had a 10 minute wait and were then shown to tables that were not clean from the previous guests and were told to just go and get our breakfast and it would be ready in 5 mins. I would have preferred to wait 5 more mins at the door than have to face that. For a 5 star world class hotel that's not what I'd expect. They said that they were busy both days, but there were many empty tables. I think they were just understaffed. I reported this to reception at the end of our stay. I got the impression they had heard this before. The service at the main hotel bar, the golf club bar and Deseos restaurant, although very polite and helpful, the staff were slow in serving us. Again I think down to lack of staff.

Review 8:Very friendly, helpful, welcoming staff. Excellent facilities, great setting.

Review 9:We got engaged and it was an amazing time and location for this. Arguably the best place I have ever stayed and it was definitely the best breakfast ever!!

Review 10:Booking.com charged me for a room with a view the hotel gave me a roomthat had a view into a courtyard. There was a fan operating all nightand we had to leave the television on all night to drown out the noise. It was like trying to sleep on an aeroplane.

Review 11:The service was excellent

Review 12:We went during uk school holidays and almost all activities were fullybooked and the attitude of the concierge was appalling not providing anysolutions nor alternative suggestions, they didnt even pick up thephone.the service in the main bar area was disastrous ,they were so slowand inefficient.

Review 13:Nice setting a lot of activity possibilities .great golf and clay pigeonshooting facilities also food was very good.

Review 14:Absolutely loved our stay here...the hotel was beautiful along with the stunning views surrounding it. The staff were lovely, couldn't fault anything. I also got engaged here infront of the fountain outside....perfect ending to a perfect stay!

Review 15:Old roons with no air conditioning and unconfortable settings, pool, common areas inside, darkness

Review 16:New roons, location, bed, breakfast, staff and horse center

Review 17:No bad experiences. Everything surpassed our expectations.

Review 18:Overall, this was a wonderful trip. I'd booked it to celebrate both my husband's 60th birthday and our 39th wedding anniversary; it didn't disappoint! Highlights were the clay pigeon shooting and fishing for my husband and the wonderful spa treatments for me. Mention should also be made of our delicious meals at Andrew Fairlie @ Gleneagles and the Strathearn restaurant. All the staff were welcoming and friendly and the facilities spotless.

Review 19:This is a world class luxury hotel. The service is impeccable, the dining options outstanding, the golf incredible and the activity offerings numerous.

Review 20:Service was over all very good, breakfast was ok, but for the price you pay you would not expect poached eggs over powered with vinegar, poached haddock so full of bones you could not eat. Requested a glass of champagne to be in the room to welcome my wife on her birthday, found two glasses and lovely chocolate covered strawberries when we arrived, bit surprised to find it on the bill on check out at £55. When you pay £660 for a night you expect the best of the best, not this time.

Review 21:The leisure facilities were amazing, the property is stunning and the staff very professional

Review 22:Far to noisy. TV automatically went on at 8.10am and woke my young son who really needed a long lie. Could hear room service banging on doors to gain entry to clean at 8am!

Review 23:Lovley property and grounds

Review 24:Rooms are very different from each other, especially the ones in the old building (some may be worn out).

Review 25:The facilities at this hotel are second to none! Try clay target shooting and falconry. A memorable stay! The additional teen room was great.

Review 26:Nothing not to like here, everything and everyone an absolute pleasure. Lovely, friendly staff, facilities are all fantastic and the food was second to non.

Review 27:Continual noise from the ventilation vents in the en suite. T.V. System not working properly. Unable to eat at Andrew Fairlie's Restaurant as it was fully booked- disappointing!

Review 28:The view from the bedroom over the Perthshire hills. The leisure facilities particularly the outdoor pool. The breakfast experience. Walking around the Golf Course on a crisp, sunny Sunday afternoon.

Review 29:I liked everything about this hotel from the minute I arrived and certainly didn't want to leave after only one night. The staff are super efficient, facilities amazing, room ultimate luxury and food first class. I can't wait to return!

Review 30:Nothing.

Review 31:The cleanliness, comfort and quality of this place is second to none. It's expensive but the cliche of getting what you pay for is very true. Everything is quality about Gleneagles, the staff were terrific and facilities beautiful.

Review 32:The evening meal was a bit of a disappointment. Both our streaks were a bit tough and the portion sizes were very small. The starters and desserts were very good. The mattress was a too firm for us.

Review 33:The staff were excellent. The location stunning. The facilities were very very good. The breakfast was amazing!

Review 34:Housekeeping coming at 9:30am to check mini bar stock - too early

Review 35:Best bed every slept in, pool and spa well laid out and liked the adult only area, bar area very comfortable and service excellent,

Review 36:We were seated in the wing of the main dining room for our evening dinner. In this area, you felt quite removed, i.e. the experience and atmosphere was quite different to that which was on offer within the main room. the food was still excellent, but they should have explained at booking that we would be seated well away from the main room. My assumption at the time was: we booked late and we stayed as part of a much cheap deal. Whatever the reason, and maybe I'm paranoid, but I had to look at a blank wall and an emergency exit sign, where as everyone else was looking at a grand piano along with hundreds of other happy dinners.

Review 37:amazing facilities and lovely surroundings

Review 38:Hotel completely full, did not like queuing at reception to get into hotel, queuing for breakfast. Literally hundreds of people at breakfast. Deseo restaurant was very noisy on the Saturday evening and our bedroom was nice but was inward facing, darkly decorated with not too much light coming in the window.

Review 39:Lovely hotel, very comfortable, great staff, comfortable bed. Loved the clay pigeon shooting. Really enjoyed The Strathearn Restaurant.

Review 40:The rooms are large and comfortable, the bathrooms are luxurious, the staff are always professional and courteous, the Spa is wonderful, the bar is calming, the restaurants vary from good to outstanding, the grounds are pleasant and there is loads to do if you want to. It was a totally chilled 2 nights for us at the hotel and I hope to go back some time.

Review 41:Complimentary water and toilet soap was not provided every day.

Review 42:Excellent hotel to relax and enjoy the outdoors of Scotland. Traditional and luxurious in the same time. Many activities can be done like cycling, off-road driving, jogging, shooting, golf, massage, spa, indoor swimming pools .... Etc.

Review 43:Room was far too hot. Even with heating off and windows open. In mid-October too. Maybe not all, but some rooms definately need air conditioning.

Review 44:Service, food quality, sports facilities all excellent.

Review 45:The main bar was always solid at lunch for the obligatory prebooked afternoon teas, this meant that if you wanted a beer and there were not any tables it was a bit of a squeeze at the bar which made for a feeling of being in the way. So we had to use Deseo instead.

Review 46:We had a lovely suite with lounge. We were very lazy having breakfast in the room which was always spot on. Very laid back service which we prefer and not stuffy at all..All restaurants were very good with the Deseo and Dormy very good value

Review 47:Room was only average - clean, tidy, quiet and well-serviced, but decor is pretty dated. Drink prices were shocking - even for a world class resort

Review 48:Food and facilities. Service - personal and professional without being stuffy. The staff are all obviously committed and proud to work at Gleneagles - and it shines through.

Review 49:There is nothing to not like.

Review 50:The whole ambiance of the hotel. Staff are so friendly and attentive nothing is ever too much bother. Excellent restaurants and facilities.

Review 51:Service was patchy. Went for lunch at the bar and were told there were no tables so were offered bar stalls which we accepted. Literally seconds afterwards a different waitress came along and asked us if we would prefer a table, we were then given a bowl of stale crisp. At dinner we asked the waiter for olive oil and he did not bring it. At breakfast we requested brown toast to be told there was none available, the waitress came with white. Coffee and tea were delivered but no teaspoons. The table did not have cutlery and we had to ask for it and it took ages to come. We asked twice to get the spoons. We the saw others receiving brown toast and had to request it. Even though this is Gleneagles we would not expect to pay £9 for a small glass of house white wine. In the scheme of things small details, but in such a splendid location and at a price it is often the detail that matters.

Review 52:Of course the setting and the room

Review 53:Nothing. Every was perfect.

Review 54:The service from staff was incredible. We happened to mention it was our anniversary and we got a complimentary bottle of champagne delivered to our upgraded room! The facilities were also fantastic. Great pool, steam room and sauna. Food was delicious.

Review 55:The room was very hot even with the window open and the fan on. I did request firm pillows but ones provided were too soft for me, so a bit of a sore neck in the morning.

Review 56:Everything apart from ....

Review 57:Room temp too hot. We slept with window open and we're still roasting

Review 58:Love the spa .

Review 59:In the Dormie House, the starter at dinner was really poor. Had we not been in a group for dinner I would have sent it back

Review 60:Nearly everything

Review 61:Gleneagles is a little bit of heaven on earth. The staff are amazing, food to die for and a location that is breathtaking.

Review 62:Nothing - well maybe not getting G space in Strathearn restaurant despite booking the stay 2 weeks previously

Review 76:No variety in breakfast

Review 77:I thought there should have been a smarter dress code in restaurant.

Review 78:Spa facilities were very good and beautiful location.

Review 79:Fantastic building, fantastic staff and a fantastic stay :)

Review 80:Absolutely perfect. You've got to try the Gun Dog training and Falconry experiences.

Review 81:Increasing green fees for Open Championship week for guests of hotel is 'a bit rich & opportunistic'

Review 82:What's not to like!

Review 86:Golf was awesome

Review 87:There was no air conditioning in the room and being 7 months pregnant I struggled to sleep.
