Reviews for The Loch Lomond Arms Hotel
Review 1:Reception wasn't manned so we sat about then had to go find someone to check us in. Couldn't find a mirror in the bedroom with a socket close by to plug the hair dryer in. Dead stuffed birds don't do it for me and there's a plethora of them. I guess it fits with the overall genre/style/ambience of the hotel. Felt over-priced compared to corporate hotels in Glasgow, but I guess we paid a premium for location. No health club. Patchy wifi (the hotel go to lengths to explain this frustrates them too) Some of the staff had heated words with each other in the bar - should have been behind closed doors - couldn't hear what they were saying but yeah - didn't sound good.
Review 2:Staff friendly and helpful No surfaces in bathroom to sit toilet bags etc Bed and sheets very cosy and comfortable Hotel lovely and warm Everywhere was very clean Saw staff cleaning/tidying/polishing frequently Bathroom had bath
Review 3:Evening meal was really awful to the extent that my wife and I could not bring ourselves to eat it. Informed the waiter of this and he was very apologetic and offered us a discount - which we declined. We dined elsewhere the following evening.
Review 4:The drinks were too expensive, under our room there was a disco, only closed down after second complaint
Review 5:It was very cosy, food good, location very quiet (what outside traffic is concerned)
Review 6:Cold sauce with a steak! Really! Had to return 2 steaks as were barely warm. Breakfast not very hot either. Staff attentive when we went into restaurant then all seemed to disappear. Got refund on food but hardly the point.
Review 7:Location,room,bar area all excellent. Warm welcome at reception.
Review 8:Breakfast was slightly overcooked, but dinner was great.
Review 9:We loved everything about our stay. The staff was friendly, the food was good and the room was fantastic.
Review 10:It was a pleasure to communicate with staff at a distance, especially assistant manager Val who helped prepare my 50th birthday party to perfection! Thank you so much, ALL staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful ?
Review 11:Staff polite, friendly & attentive. Location, decor, excellent value for money. Excellent choice of food & beverage. Could not fault the quality & value offered by this establishment.
Review 12:The room was spotless and comfortable; and exactly as described (small, stylish and well-appointed) . Luss was a lucky find and worth a stroll. We also had dinner in the restaurant which is very welcoming and reasonable.
Review 13:Loved the look and interior design, very relaxing. The setting was incredible within the village of Luss and the staff were relaxed and available when needed
Review 14:Worst hotel breakfast ever. Dried up fried eggs and bacon you could not get a fork into. My biggest regret was not sending it back! The breakfast table was sticky, the milk jug stuck to it. Our room was so small we could not lay out a suitcase and we had nowhere to sit as no room for a chair.
Review 15:General ambience and decor. Dinner was good but service dreadfully slow.
Review 16:No negative experiences.
Review 17:Extremely scenic location and easily accessible within 35 minutes from Glasgow. The hotel room was very comfortable and spacious. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Our evening and breakfast meals were excellent.
Review 18:General food temperature, both dinner and breakfast. Had to send breakfasts back re temperature and on return of new breakfast there was no improvement! Not a criticism of the waitress as she was under pressure and doing her level best to cope in a busy dining room.
Review 19:Hospitality tray in room incomplete on our arrival and on asking for it to be replenished we received UHT milk six months out of date and never did get the biscuits requested. Seemed short of staff on our arrival so a short delay on check in.
Review 20:Good location and service from friendly helpful staff
Review 21:20% service charge added on dinner bill was unexpected and excessive. Pity as slightly took edge off the experience of a nice meal. Also motion sensor lights flashed in room all night long, disturbing sleep.
Review 22:Gorgeous location, easy access from Glasgow but feels like you're really getting away into nature. Short stroll down to Loch Lomand, woods for walks, boat trips around the islands. Hotel welcoming, nice rooms and general decor, good food.
Review 23:Extremely friendly and helpful staff-exemplary! Stayed for 1 night to break up our 9 hour journey to Gairloch. Hotel very comfortable, clean and lovely food. Fab location, Luss is beautiful! Would definitely recommend.
Review 24:Duvet too hot! I thought it was overpriced given that there is no phone signal. A little mean spirited to charge extra for salmon at breakfast ( fantastic smoked haddock though, so don't bother with the salmon!)
Review 25:Beautiful location, very helpful and friendly staff, aesthetically pleasing. Great base for a day trip up Ben Lomond - get the Waterbus over to Rowardennen and back for tea.
Review 26:None at all
Review 27:The staff were extremely helpful and welcoming from the minute we walked in the door. Our room was excellent, we were upgraded which was a real treat, we just wished we were there longer to enjoy the lovely surroundings! Food was 10/10 and the bar/lounge area very comfortable to sit and eat in. Location is great, can leave car at hotel and walk to surrounding facilities in Luss.
Review 28:Sorry but the breakfast was a great let down. Waited ages on first morning for cooked breakfast and when it arrived it was not worth the wait. We didn't even bother on the second day we just had toast which we had to make ourselves. For this reason we would not return to this Hotel. I would like to say that the staff on reception were excellent .
Review 29:Stayed for 2 nights room was nice very clean.
Review 30:Friendly reception and niece atmosphere. We had the 4-poster bed bedroom which was nicely decorated and comfortably spacious. Liked the walk-in wardrobe and the free standing bath. Nice service and food in the restaurant.
Review 31:Internet was miserably slow.
Review 32:Convenient location on picturesque Loch Lomond. Emily at reception is lovely and was very accommodating for our family of 5. Lunch at the restaurant was delicious.
Review 33:The food was not exeptional altough expensif, and the oysters where not fresh. The staff in general, specialy during check out when we were asked if everything went fine, we said the free wifi was very poor except at the front desk. The answer was 1- no it is bad all around Luss, there is noting too be done about it, and 2 - why do we need wifi while on holiday! If your staff can't accept critics, do not let them ask if the customers were satisfied. We left with a very bad feeling because of that last contact with your staff.
Review 34:The location os beautifull. The proprety inside very cosy and nicely arranged.
Review 35:My only complaint is our room was by the staircase so it was a bit noisy at times and next to the cleaning cupboard, so when the cleaners arrived it was rather noisy. But nothing major, when I return I will just request a room away from the staircase.
Review 36:Everything, it was lovely . Our room was small but adequate and very comfy. The little extras like the tea and coffee tray with Shortbread perfect.
Review 37:Dinner was poor - fish almost inedible. I asked for scrambled eggs on toast for breakfast, and was given a plate of scrambled eggs and told to make my own toast - at first, I thought this was a joke, but it wasn't...!
Review 38:great location in the village of Luss.
Review 39:Excellent, Excellent staff: Front desk, restaurant, bar. They all cared about you to make you sty pleasant! They took phone messages, made phone calls and even offered to carry our luggage up the stairs. No elevators. Excellent location to the dock on the lake and good location for quiet walks.
Review 40:The staff are fantastic, and all of the staff were always happy with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble and not only that any request was sorted within moments.
Review 41:Drinks were a little pricey. The village has only 1 cash machine - charges £1.85 to use.
Review 42:Great staff, really well trained, friendly and extremely customer focussed. Room was well finished though not very large. Very comfortable bed and a superb location.
Review 43:My only problem with our Room (12) was that there was no mirror on the wall for doing hair! I know it's a minor thing, but a mirror on the window alcove would have been perfect.
Review 44:Very nice hotel and very friendly staff!
Review 45:Lighting in the room too dim and no dressing table facilities for putting on makeup.
Review 46:The friendliness of the staff and the Restaurant and bar facilites were very good. The room was also very nicely decorated.
Review 47:Amazing ambience, friendly staff, cozy rooms, yummy food at restaurant, warm and inviting pub on a chilly Scottish day, proximity to hikes in the area
Review 48:The Internet was slow, however that's probably due to the remote location.
Review 49:The staff were extremely. Friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and had a very homely ambiance. I had dinner there and the steak was cooked to perfection.
Review 50:Although we had requested in advance that we have accommodation on the same floor as elderly mother travelling with us, we were put on separate floors.
Review 51:Very helpful staff.
Review 52:small choice at breakfast, no gluten free or dairy intolerant choices and being asked to pay for breakfast during breakfast.
Review 53:evening meal and bar setting were lovely, bedroom beautiful.
Review 54:The only unfortunate comment I can make is that the main front door did not have a soft close so banged very loudly each time someone either entered or left. As we were in the bedroom above the front door we were startled each time the door banged.
Review 55:The quality of the furnishing the attention to detail in every room. The ambiance of the public bar restaurant etc., perfect.
Review 56:Everything. Very cosy room with mega comfortable bed and nice fireplace. Friendly birds around that are keen to come close for a great selfie should you have bread for them.
Review 57:Our visit was too short.
Review 58:Beautiful hotel in lovely quiet town, with gorgeous room, bathroom. Restaurant had amazing menu, lovely wine selection and awesome breakfast. Wish we had longer there.Great location for visiting the loch Lomond or trossachs area.
Review 59:That we had to leave....so changed our booking after one night elsewhere for another night here because we loved it so much!
Review 60:Fantastic food, cosy atmosphere with two log fires. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. Nicely furnished rooms and overall a superb location to chill and unwind.
Review 61:The only criticism I cold make is that the hotel wi-fi is very slow.
Review 62:It is difficult to fault this hotel. Our room, along with the lounge and bar areas, were clean and immaculately presented. The staff were friendly and efficient. There is also an outside patio area with views of the hills. The hotel is well located in the pretty village of Luss, just a short walk from Loch Lomond.
Review 63:nothing to dislike!
Review 64:we had such a lovely time at this delightful hotel. Our room was gorgeous, very spacious, beautiful and clean. We even had a dressing room! We felt very spoilt. The staff were helpful, friendly but not intrusive. The food was very nice, everything we ordered over our two day stay was cooked very well and we enjoyed. Luss village its self was very pleasant with a pretty beach, nice shops and cafes. All in all a wonderful place in stunning settings and we hope to stay there again, top marks!!
Review 65:Dinner was expensive, though very tasty. We weren't advised to order extra side dishes as the main meal itself was very small.
Review 66:A brilliant location in a beautiful hotel. Will definitely return.
Review 67:All was good, do not have anything to add.
Review 68:Decided on an overnight trip a couple of weeks ago. Regular visitors to Luss. Loch Lomond Arms was not the first choice for us, but have to say the stay there was fantastic. Food and drink was lovely and reasonably priced. Planning to return soon and will be our first choice for future trips.
Review 69:noisy bar - evening and morning and my room was right above it! Just as well I didn't have time for a lie in!
Review 70:nice decorated rooms and public areas
Review 71:I only had breakfast so can't rate the food. Breakfast was nice but could have been better. The only fresh fruit was whole apples and oranges plus prunes and the bread could have been more interesting.
Review 72:The pillows were wonderful. It is really hard to get soft feather pillows these days and these were matched on;y by my pillows at home. The bed overall was really comfortable. There were also little extras in the bathroom which were appreciated and again are rarely found.
Review 73:Value for money. The next evening we stayed at 5 star Cameron House and it wasn't a patch on this place. Cosy countryhouse hotel with log fires and excellent food. The wee waitress Emma was a wonder in the dining room and Brian made us more than welcome in the reception. Go there and see for yourself!
Review 74:Wifi not great. Noise carries from the bar area, so could be noisy. Didn't bother us on a quiet midweek night.
Review 75:Clean, comfortable and good food. Friendly staff.
Review 76:Breakfast was disgusting not cooked properly, service terrible never one to complain but on this occassion I had to.£20 was taken off the bill pleased with this What a shame just hope this can be addressed because otherwise all was perfect
Review 77:loved the hotel, the beautiful furnishings Luss is lovely Location great Dinner was excellent, staff lovely
Review 78:My overall impression of the hotel was very good. Staff were helpful but not in the least intrusive, the food was excellent, the rooms were very clean, and the beds were most comfortable. All in the group of people I was with have all agreed that they would stay there again.
Review 79:Thought the price might include dinner. Dinner was lovely but breakfast was a bit sparse compared to others with a help yourself cooked breakfast. The pinky of a sausage was lost on the plate. A proper Scottish sausage would have been a square slice. No other facilities available for the price of the stay like a gym or a swimming pool.
Review 80:Cosy and very comfortable. Room was small but adequate. Decor was fresh and bright apart from the stuffed animals everywhere, a bit creepy.
Review 81:Some items on the menu had a long preparation times which could lead to long waits before courses.
Review 82:Relaxed atmosphere and wonderful food. The staff couldn't be more helpful.
Review 83:Food was excellent and real effort was shown to cater for my gluten free diet. unfortunately they had ran out of steak which was a little disappointing.
Review 84:We wanted a cosy little hotel with comfortable facilities and good food. That's exactly what we got. Perfect and great value for money
Review 85:Loud revellers in the open plan lounge/bar area which spoilt the evening. Service was attentive but only if you were sitting right in front of them. As soon as you moved out of eyesight you were forgotten.
Review 86:Convenience of the hotel on the way from one place to another.
Review 87:I didn't have a shower in my room which was a drawback and had to riddle along to my friend for shower in morning
Review 88:Loved the homely feel, log Fire etc food was excellent and reasonable
Review 89:No mirror in the bedroom
Review 90:from beginning to end the staff were fantastic, the room & bathroom was beautiful, the food was awesome, many thanks & well done
Review 91:From the moment you get there all the staff are really attentive and engaging. They are all very helpful a credit to the hotel. We stayed in the lomond room more of a suite very spacious. Breakfast & evening meals were excellent. We will definitely book again.
Review 92:Almost 5 uppercase C! Caracteristic, Cozy, Comfortable and Clean. The fifth, cheap, can't be uppercase but the value is adequate to money. Dishes carefully prepared and good. Recommend it.
Review 93:Wifi pretty much non existent and constantly turns off and on also phone signal is poor but I suppose you come Herero relax so it's a good thing in a way, there is virtually nothing to do at night time except have dinner and a few quiet drinks before bed so don't expect any form of nightlife, food wasn't very impressive and service in the restaurant was poor feet forgotten about however staff were lovely when you did see them
Review 94:Hotel is really nice very quaint and country esque which is exactly what you would want coming here, setting beautiful very peaceful and a great chance to relax.
Review 95:Was unfortunate that as we were staying on the top floor of the hotel we didn't quite make the cut for getting the free wifi which then made it difficult for us to contact people as neither had a signal.
Review 96:Really loved the warm feeling of the hotel, the room was so cosy and decorated in a modern style but yet still felt warm.
Review 97:The team here are great and a real credit to the hotel. Nothing that I didn't enjoy about my stay. I have stayed here twice and will continue to use this hotel when working in the area.
Review 98:This is a no if you have a phobia of birds! I don't but I have a sister who would have been freaked out. The food was overpriced for what it was. It's pub grub at the end of the day, poshed up.
Review 99:The staff were all very attentive and welcoming.Rooms were all individual and spotlessly clean. Very individual in style, quite quirky. The bar area was cosy too.
Review 100:From the minute we arrived we were made welcome and comfortable. This hotel has got everything right - great managers and staff. Excellent accommodation, fabulous food and great location. We will definitely return. Thank you to all at Loch Lomond arms hotel.
Review 101:Excellent food, we ate there three nights and were impressed. Also: lovely town, beautiful place, great atmosphere. Would definitely recommend staying there.
Review 102:N/a, overall a great experience.
Review 103:The open fires are a treat, the food is good and the beds comfy, I will go back to it without hesitation as it was a pleasure to be there. The staff know what they are doing and are on the ball. No sitting around lookinf as if you are lost, they come over and ask what they can do for you. The bed was so squishy I slept like a log. The bathroom was well appointed and comes with large fluffy towels. A must for the discerning traveller.
Review 104:Breakfast service was slow. Overall customer service was average. Slow WiFi. Food at the Hotel restaurant was disappointing and the service was very slow again. Took two hours to have a 2 course meal.
Review 105:Beautiful rooms. Very clean.
Review 106:No mobile signal.
Review 107:Brilliant staff, moved me to a different room because there was going to be a wedding party that night and they put me further away so I wouldn't be disturbed. Food was great too.
Review 108:Wifi a little slow. Bit too warm in the bar and restaurant areas due to log fires lit in unseasonably warm weather.
Review 109:The bed, bedding and bathroom were lovely and the food was awesome. The best breakfast I have ever had.
Review 110:We have to wait a little long than we would like to someone appear at the hotel reception when we arrive - a bell to ring should be a good option in the reception desk. In the morning they have taken a little too long to ask what we want for hot breakfast - we spend an hour at breakfast, when we have planned to spend half an hour. The length of the tube is good, but it could be more dipper.
Review 111:The location - Loch Lomond - is wonderful, and you could give good easy walks in the surrounds. The hotel is very beautiful, the decoration is spectacular. The breakfast was very tasty. The room was very comfortable and beautiful as also the bathroom with a good tube: what a wonderful bubble bath I had, followed by a nice hot chocolate and a very good night of sleep! And wonderful walking near the loch and river by the morning!
Review 112:not a thing
Review 113:Lovely facility obviouly recently refurbished.... cosy bar and dining area. Staff were perfect. They found us a table on short notice on a very busy night. We loved the room. Rooms are in a detached building a few steps from the main hotel, pub, and dining area, so was very quiet. That was welcome as we had traveled transatlantic that day. I am sure well will be back.
Review 114:Beautiful room. Very comfortable bed, luxury cotton linen. Excellent food for dinner and breakfast. Lovely village setting, pretty with all the flowers, a blooming village! Real log fireplace.
Review 115:This Hotel and even more the little village has a wow factor all of it's own.Fell in love with the place and the surrounding area. The Hotel rooms were spacious and clean the food was wonderful and the staff were so friendly and helpful that it made your stay that more pleasant. Was like coming home to family and having a wee chat round the fire side.We will be back.
Review 116:If you're stating in Luss, you need not stay anywhere else. From check in to check out - we were welcome guests. Staff - young, friendly, chatty and efficient. Rooms - we had the Lomond room which was gorgeous and peaceful, with the comfiest four poster bed I have ever slept in. A Free standing bath and walk in wardrobe. What more does a girl on her travels need ? The room was spotless and i particularly loved the colour of the paint throughout (a rather dull thing to write) but true. If you don't like taxidermy then you may be a little put off - lots of stuffed animals as decor - Yet it added to the hotels charm. A lot of people had come from other hotels to eat here and I don't blame them. The Food was tasty. Sadly, the catch of the day in batter was so tough ! I firstly put this down to the scots loving batter, but then I was told by the friendly waiter that the chef had changed the oil ! I'd change it again - it wasn't the best! However, still lovely taste and I was so hungry that it didn't go to waste. Great selection of board games for the evening too x If you want a peaceful, restful and unforgettable stay then you must stay here. You will not be disappointed!
Review 117:Not enough seating area in the bar for evening drinks. Breakfasts were inconsistent. Same breakfast ordered each day but always came up different. always had to ask for various things as had run out and not replenished.
Review 118:This hotel is the perfect location for sightseeing LochLomond. Good facilities and comfortable room.
Review 119:Nothing
Review 120:The decor in this hotel was quite beautiful. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were large and airy. Lovely location to be able to explore Loch Lomond. Good food menu and delicious. Breakfast in the library was extensive and the Smoked Haddock was good
Review 121:The hotel is popular for weddings, so there was some noise, but still tolerable, and everything was quiet at around 11 pm.
Review 122:The interior of the hotel, the decoration, all very nice and well cared for. The hotel was recently refurbished and the atmosphere was traditional but still contemporary. Very clean, and staff helpful and welcoming. We loved the breakfast with the yoghurts and the salmon. Dinner was equally nice. Our room was compact, but this did not matter for just one night. The hotel is a good base for excursions around the lake and to the highlands, so for a longer stay I would ask for a larger room.
Review 123:nothing
Review 124:The staff were very friendly and welcoming The rooms were very tastefully decorated and comfortable, with great attention to detail and cleanliness The restaurant had great ambience and food to match
Review 125:I stayed for two nights with my son and two other friends. Polite staff, comfortable beds and nice food in beautiful surroundings - couldn't ask for more! I would definately stay at this hotel again.
Review 126:The only down side was there was no mirror near to an electrical socket so this made drying my hair rather difficult.
Review 127:The hotel was just fabulous. The staff are so warm & friendly, nothing too much trouble. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in. The food was also exceptional. Great location.
