Reviews for The Lodge On Loch Lomond Hotel

Review 1:Staff - some friendly and helpful, others require a bit more training regarding customer service. Reception staff were indifferent and not particularly helpful. Food was alright, but nothing special. I require a gluten-free diet and when I asked about this at breakfast I was given gluten-free toast and told to help myself to fruit from the buffet. We have been going to lodge on the loch for many years and definitely think that it has lost a bit of its sparkle.

Review 2:Location and facilities. Rooms comfortable and clean.

Review 3:restaurant let hotel down a litte. Great food but a bit pricey and on couple of occassions when ordering room service we had to get them to return with cutlery. Also, we were promised table service for early brekky but we didn't get this and on last day we arrived for breakfast at 7.15 and no member of staff or food was ready.

Review 4:fantastic room and view, great location, easily accessible beautiful area, great facilities Would definitely recommend to others.

Review 5:If this place had a gym it would have been perfect. The spa is very nice but have to walk 50 metres to a separate building, but that's not a problem unless it's raining or bitterly cold.

Review 6:The location is brilliant and the views and scenary are stunning. Glasgow only 45 minute drive is very useful so you're not cut off from civilisation. The breakfast was excellent and left the restaurant stuffed every morning. There's Nice decor although itneeds a little TLC. Friendly and helpful staff. Free parking is always a must! I know hotels very well and I would definitely go back to this one.

Review 7:although we booked in for dinner on arrival when we got to the restaurant we were told to take a seat to wait which was fine but the man didn't take a note of our name at this point. After half an hour of waiting I then went up and they discovered they didn't have our booking so we had to wait even longer, once seated the service was really slow and had to ask a few times for drinks and the dessert menu also which wasn't ideal.

Review 8:The view we had from our room over the Loch was amazing!

Review 9:They're was nothing to dislike.

Review 10:I liked everything from the welcome you get from the staff right through to the day my wife and I left it was absolutely outstanding we will definitely stay there again.

Review 11:It needs a re vamp . Looks run down in the rooms.i asked for a easy access room as I am disabled . They put me in the furthest room away and the lift didn't even work.if the staff done there job correctly I would have been happy .

Review 12:The location of the hotel . Food was great

Review 13:Pretty unfriendly staff. Has the feel of a function hotel (weddings etc), which it is really. Slightly dated for the price and average quality of the restaurant. Much better off nipping down the road to The Loch Lomond Arms Hotel for food, which was incredible!

Review 14:The location and views from the room are absolutely amazing. Free parking.

Review 15:Having to leave was our only thing we didn't like

Review 16:This is out special place where we like to stay at...any stress of day to day life gets left in the car park and we leave totally relaxed. Love it

Review 17:The rooms are a little too pricey but the location and service is fantastic.

Review 18:The views were stunning, really friendly staff and comfortable room. The staff gave us a glass of bubbly on arrival to celebrate our anniversary. The restaurant had incredible food. 10/10 would recommend.

Review 19:Could be doing with a freshen up, decor a bit dated.

Review 20:The location is everything! The balcony looked right over the loch. Staff friendly and attentive. Lovely breakfast.

Review 21:The hotel looks tired and dated. It needs more light in bedrooms and bathrooms. The carpet in the hallway and on the stairs was in need of professional cleaning as it was badly stained which is not welcoming. I would be happy to stay again but I think the company relies on the view to cut corners as regards the general maintenance.

Review 22:The location is outstanding. The views from the bedrooms facing the Loch are magnificent.

Review 23:Size of the bed was far to small resulted in poor sleep

Review 24:Location. We stayed in the main lodge. Polite and helpful house keeping and other staff. Atmosphere. Very relaxing.

Review 25:It's hard to say anything that you don't like about the Lodge - Perhaps happier Bar staff !

Review 26:Stunning views across Loch Lomond and surrounding mountains We use this location every year and we always enjoy our stay it's very easy to fall in love with its history and Local village of Luss . People are friendly and welcoming.

Review 27:Not being able to access dinner - no room in restaurant and 24 hour room service not operating as advertised The mould shower The hat, small, short bed The creaking floorboards

Review 28:The view

Review 29:Staff service was slow and poor Spa services closed all day first without offer of compensation. We had to ask for a late check out to ensure use of the Spa following day.

Review 30:Location

Review 31:Breakfast wasn't great, they didn't replenish any items after 9:30.

Review 32:Stunning views & nice room Afternoon tea was really nice (bought on a deal)

Review 33:Nothing.

Review 34:We have stayed at this hotel in numerous occasions, as the location is perfect, views over the loch and very tranquil setting. Love it and will be back again.

Review 35:How welcoming the staff were, made us relaxed from arrival to departure. The room was superb, with a great view. Meals were above excellent. Overall Superb.

Review 36:'Disabled' room had the shower over the bath which was a nightmare to use. Shower cabinets in upper rooms but no lift!

Review 37:Staff very helpful & friendly

Review 38:Our room was too hot as it was in the new building and next to the spa facilities. Queried it with reception but there wasn't anything they could do, other than give us an additional fan. I imagine it would be ok if you weren't beside the spa.

Review 39:Location was very nice. Breakfast was good, the view was even better though. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was nice although didn't really feel like a rosette restaurant. The room was nice although a bit different having the shower open plan with the bedroom and living area!

Review 40:Dreadful signage trying to find Room 64 in the "lower building" after late arrival and long drive. Most unhelpful and unwelcoming.

Review 41:The view from the restaurant window and walks in the area.

Review 42:The whole place needs a long overdue makeover. It's looking tired....still very good but tired....like me!!

Review 43:Location cannot be bettered. Staff went the extra "mile"

Review 44:Restaurant service was very poor. Charged differing prices for same drinks. Served langostines whole and shelled without prongs, shell bowl or crackers. 3 tables seated after us ordered before us. Service very disjointed. Received wrong drinks. Main course venison overcooked. No receipt upon leaving. Told will be emailed. Still waiting.

Review 45:Beautiful location and a nice little hotel. Weather was nice which added to the enjoyment of the stay.

Review 46:The spa and facilities were very basic and were in parts unclean. The pool was rather cold and in the bedrooms the balconys are very close which means the next door neighbours can look in when out on their balcony.

Review 47:Loved both the views and the food in the hotel. Majority of staff were lovely and very accommodating. The seating area for the bar was very nice and could have been very cosy if the fireplace was lit.

Review 48:Long wait for drinks.

Review 49:Excellent lay-out. Loved having a bath in the bedroom. Staff coped very well with obvious lack of bar staff to cope with demand. Stunning surroundings. Lovely warm pool.

Review 50:A bit tired and shabby in places and below the standards I'd expect for the cost of the room. Not great value for money considering other places we have stayed. Double bed, 2 singles pushed together with a clear ridge, not ideal for a honeymoon trip! Wedding reception taking place so the peaceful meal in the restaurant we had booked looking out over Loch Lomond was not as relaxing as expected.

Review 51:Wonderful views from the lodge rooms, a saving grace!

Review 52:The facility desperately needs some TLC. The furniture is very worn and damaged and scratched. The bar area furniture is in terrible disrepair and the bed was very uncomfortable. Room service dishes from several rooms left in hallway all day!! Cleaning staff failed to clean the commode and tables in the room.

Review 53:The Location was good for visiting Luss and enjoying Loch Lomond

Review 54:Didn't like open plan bathroom/shower.. sorry too weird. Consider closing them off. Balcony wood obscured view when sat, should look to using toughened glass perhaps.

Review 55:Staff were all very friendly and willing to accommodate requests. View from room worth the extra money - except for carpark in front!. Food was exceptional.

Review 56:The staff were terrible and un trained rude and blunt. The bar boy couldnt even pour a lime and soda The waiter almost threw my dinner at me when he placed my plate in front of me. Its a shame as the actual place and location is nice but is just not backed up and there were things that just needed attention

Review 57:A la carte menu expensive for small portions although lounge menu was far better

Review 58:views of loch from balcony was fantastic leisure facilities were excellent staff pleasant and very helpfulre

Review 59:Uncomfortable bed and whilst we liked the hotel it badly needs a room and public space facelift. Indifferent breakfast shame as restaurant has great views.

Review 60:You must get a room with a balcony in the main building to get the best view of the loch. Avoid car park views of ground floor of separate building where eg weddings are held. If you do view is excellent.

Review 61:Bathroom fittings very tiresome - need better methods of being eco friendly- water switching off and shower needs improving. Marvellous position but hotel needs updating

Review 62:Excellent position right on the Loch and very friendly and helpful staff

Review 63:Outstanding location, helpful friendly staff. Yes some areas tired which could frustratingly be fixed quite easily, we were in a Corbett room which is dated, but very clean and comfortable and a view which is amongst the best we,ve seen globally. Restaurant pricey, but excellent food, again with a view.

Review 64:room was tired and needed a good airing . there appeared to be a mold problem in our room, with hindsight i should have asked to move but place was full and couldn't be bothered trying to seek other accommodation at 11th hour

Review 65:View and location good. Food and service in restaurant was excellent

Review 66:The staff was polite and seemed willing to help but there was a sense that no one really had any service training at all. There were few electrical outlets in our room and none near the bed which was a problem in our case. The lights over the sink and the vanity didn't work and it's very stuffy in the rooms with no air-conditioning or cross ventilation. We were reluctant to leave our unscreened window open at all because of the midges.

Review 67:The location is nice and the lake view from our room was beautiful.

Review 68:On 2 evenings out of 3, we could not eat dinner when we wanted to eat, due to wedding parties getting preferential treatment and the kitchen being fully busy serving the wedding guests. I understand that, but no advance notice provided which would have enabled us to plan accordingly. In addition, there were 2 dried out damp stains on the ceiling in our room (1 directly above the bed), not very slightly and even though the scenery outside is what we were looking at primarily, this was not good. In addition, there were 3 of us staying, but each day we had only 2 glasses / mugs in the room.

Review 69:The location was fantastic and Loch Lomond and the surrounding scenery stunning.

Review 70:The room was the perfect setting for a cosy lodge get away but for the price I think the bathroom and toilet facilities could be improved. I can see the premium price is charged for the location which is totally worth it, but the rooms could be improved. All in all we still enjoyed our stay!

Review 71:This hotel is in a stunning location, we had view of the loch from our bedroom unfortunately the weather did not allow us to take advantage of the outdoor balcony but all the same the view was breath taking even in the rain.

Review 72:the cleanliness of the rooms, everything else was very clean . also the matress needed to be changed to a better one, it was lumpy wifi connection in rooms came and went

Review 73:how friendly everyone was and how they tried to accomodate our needs

Review 74:The restaurant says A La Carte dinning. It is not. The food was okay but same as you could get in any decent gastro pub. The service at the tables is chaotic as the staff are student level trained. Better off eating out at local pub. Swimming pool etc could do with being open at 0700 for early risers. Rooms could just do with a could clean windows were dirty and stained. Whole place needs a spring clean. Pricey but made up for by location.

Review 75:Location is fantastic right on the Loch great views from the rooms. Spa and pool was clean and family friendly. Plenty of parking. Reception staff were friendly and efficient.

Review 76:Room service When we Rang for room service we were told by Heather that at certain times 7pm we would have to wait 1 hr This was not explained to us at reception or on the menu

Review 77:Very relaxed atmosphere x the views were breath taking x

Review 78:Our wifi didn't work in our room. Which was room 35. And the shower head seemed broken

Review 79:The staff that served us at dinner were amazing. Especially our waiter darryn.

Review 80:Staff really friendly. Was a last minute for me and my partner as she had been in hospital for a while, the next time I book I would book one of the lodges.

Review 81:Rooms are a little dark and could maybe do with a little lick of paint/varnish on the wood!

Review 82:Excellent location with stunning views. We had a 9 week old baby with us and they couldn't be more helpful!

Review 83:Food a little pricey, perhaps paying for the location though. Some waiting staff were quite inexperienced.

Review 84:fantastic location, right on the loch. nice to have dinner and watch the sun go down, shame about the midges so had to eat inside!

Review 85:Nothing except it wasn't long enough!

Review 86:Gorgeous location right on Loch Lomond. Brilliant for those who like their water sports or just walking and exploring the area.

Review 87:The room was not cleaned too well, staff very helpful and food good. If you book half board, you still have to book a table in the restaurant every evening. This hotel is very expensive for what you get. Wedding parties seem to obtain priority over paying hotel guests

Review 88:Great location and facilities

Review 89:Wedding on Wednesday night had to be up at 6am complained about noise at 2AM only to be told by staff we should check that no weddings are on before we book. So Please Check ! rooms tired also.

Review 90:Fantastic Setting

Review 91:Room and bathroom obviously hadn't been hoovered and overall decor and cleanliness of hotel really needs updated for rates they ask for per night. Will pay extra for Cameron House next time.

Review 92:Location is fantastic by the Loch

Review 93:The prices of meals and drinks at he bar were expensive. Rooms need brightened up. Maybe removing or painting the pine cladding would help

Review 94:Being on the Loch was amazing. As long as it's not cold, the balcony space is superb. Couple of sun loungers would be ideal in the summertime

Review 95:We felt the hotel was in need of a refurbishment with some areas quite scruffy. A small point, there were no tissues or body lotion provided in the room and the toiletries were not renewed on our second day. Fortunately We carry spares but this is most unusual, especially in a 4* hotel.

Review 96:Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was beautiful. Food was freshly cooked and well presented, although quite expensive. Our room was large with a lovely view.

Review 97:We had appalling service at dinner and heard the people on the next table complaining too. We gave our order four times and finally received food after a wait of more than an hour. Manager refunded some money without us having to ask, which was good of him, but we would never go back after that experience

Review 98:Beautiful location

Review 99:Easy to find and a short drive from Glasgow Airport, ideal for our overnight stay en route to Skye; wonderfully situated on the shore of Loch Lomond and within the delightful village of Luss: what's not to like?

Review 100:Room service was poor and badly presented. They also forgot our dessert but billed us twice. Bill rectified at check out.

Review 101:Convenient location, stunning views across Loch Lomond

Review 102:Check in and 3pm and check out at 10am is not value for money...we were not happy with that.

Review 103:Friendly helpful staff, beautiful location, comfortable room

Review 104:Poor quality lumpy pillows. Room was far too hot. Hard uncomfortable mattress, which gave me a sore back. The bathtub was in the room which was not indicated in any pre booking information.

Review 105:The views, the friendly staff

Review 106:Tried to get evening meal,(I hadn't booked to be fair) but was told the kitchen was busy and we could only pick from the bottom section if the menu which didn't really take our fancy.about half an hour later an American couple arrived and asked if they could order food, they were given the menus and the only restrictions given to them was that the kitchen was closing in 10 mins, and they had to order quickly. I thought this was a tad unfair, but what can you do at this late stage of an evening. although this was a dissapointment I wouldn't say it spoiled our break.

Review 107:Reception staff were very friendly, very clean and great location

Review 108:average to poor service by the staff, especially at the restaurant. The food was average but more importantly, served in tiny portions. I'm not kidding - we were hungry by the time we reached our room and we are normal eaters. Also, the place is not really child friendly (my 3 year old's child meal was served 5-10 minutes after our dishes were served. Took another 5 minutes to get him some ketchup!). Very weird shower in the room that stops running every few minutes and requires restarting.

Review 109:Great location

Review 110:Would have been nice to have some complimentary water in the room. Mini bar was empty!

Review 111:Lovely scenery, great hotel, spacious room with added luxury of a balcony.

Review 112:As regular attenders to the Lodge on Loch Lomond we always loved the excellent food however this time the food was not up to standard and was very dissapointing. Breakfast was the worst we have had. The bed was very uncomfortable. Some members of staff were not very pleasant or helpful. All round dissapointed in our stay, unfortunately due to this it will be our last visit to this hotel. Certainly not worth the money.

Review 113:Loved the location

Review 114:We stayed in the Munro . Ground floor room. The sitting area outside would could do with privacy screen from neighbours. Not that we're antisocial . Decor a bit dated . We are a dog loving family , how ever, didn't appreciate when another guest walked in with their dog at breakfast..

Review 115:The location was wonderfull. Walking along loch side. Breakfast was very good .

Review 116:The room we were allocated was in a different building from the main hotel which meant a walk in the rain to the restaurant. Also the rooms in this building were open plan which meant that the back of the bed was the only thing separating the bed/sitting room from the bath/shower (not for shy people). There were no taps to the bath/shower or the sink, only press buttons which cut off the water when it was programmed to, not when you wanted. Last but not least, the toilet was separate with no wash basin which meant coming out and going into the "bathroom" to wash hands.

Review 117:Location good, staff friendly and food good.

Review 118:Brilliant stay and when i booked i mentioned it was for my husbands birthday..we had a chap at our door that night with a birthday card and 2 glasses of proseco..such a nice gesture.

Review 119:the room was lovely and had a balcony overlooking the loch and even had its own suana The staff were efficient and friendly The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice

Review 120:The only minor complaint we had was the service at dinner. At a time when the restaurant appeared fairly quiet, we were still waiting for well over an hour and a half for just 2 courses.

Review 121:The room was very comfortable and well presented, and that the room had a balcony overlooking the loch was superb.

Review 122:Room had a few maintenance issues but when we informed reception when going out for the day it was sorted by the time we returned.

Review 123:Had a great time, went on honeymoon there and the food was very good. Spa facilities were excellent.

Review 124:Was overcharged for dinner but didn't complain as it was supposed to be a perfect night away

Review 125:Location - room had a spectacular view across the loch

Review 126:Poor food. Basic pub fair on the first night. Went to a hotel in Luss for the second evening. Much better food nicely presented and cooked to order.

Review 127:Comfortable bed. Nice view of the lake

Review 128:The condition of the whole complex was poor, in urgent need of refurbishment. Our room was supposed to have a mini bar, but it was missing. Staff member on reception duty was less thsn helpful in fact quite rude.

Review 129:Beautiful location, good size room and mostly friendly, helpful staff.

Review 130:We had to much noise(music) late in the evening until past one clock in the morning. It didn't match with the quietness of the place

Review 131:The view on the loch and the proximity of an old and pretty village

Review 132:Dear maybe slightly dated and in need of some love but I'm picking, defo worthy of its 4 stars. Just need square sausage for breakfast to be really Scottish!

Review 133:Great location in the loch, great size room with own sauna! Lovely balcony as well and bubble on arrival as it was our anniversary.

Review 134:The Scottish weather, but cannot blame the hotel for that.

Review 135:Amazing view over Loch. The staff were so helpful - I was not using the fitness facilities but my nephew was overjoed with the pool and other facilities. I look forward to returning.

Review 136:Cooked breakfast was overcooked, continental breakfast consisted of cereals some yoghurt in a bowl and some tinned prunes. There was no accommodation for dairy intolerances - only butter available. The room was in need of some refurbishment. Wifi was non existent in room, very poor reception.

Review 137:The views over the loch were fabulous, the room was spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 138:Very poor decor in places such as chairs ripped with the stuffing hanging out and windows that do not open properly

Review 139:Wonderful location with great staff

Review 140:Food was expensive cold and poor quality Food was served undercooked and cold

Review 141:Hotel is in excellent location Rooms were clean and in good condition Staff were very friendly and most helpful

Review 142:Late cheak in.. Out quite early..we bit entertainment wild be great. But I was well chuffed with quick response and the room I asked for. Staff great also

Review 143:The foods is to die for especially steak and the omelette in morn.
