Reviews for May's House
Review 1:Room was very cold on arrival and took a long time to warm up but it did get comfy eventually
Review 2:Staff were incredibly helpful. room was comfy, clean and the self catering facilities were great.
Review 3:The heating was off all night in the middle of December it was a bit far from the city centre but this was known to me before booked
Review 4:Very clean and the family were really friendly and helpful
Review 5:Could not gain access to the hotel upon arrival at my agreed time. Hotel had a sign with a consierge phone number on. However, I had no phone..!.. Joke!...Was banging on the door, but nobody came. Finally gained access at 5am!! Waste of time..
Review 6:Friendliness of the staff when they were there!
Review 7:Only downside was one of our cars were keyed during the night on the road outside the apartment which put us on a downer in the morning.
Review 8:We only dealt with one staff member and he was great. Really friendly and helpful. The place was top aswell and simply amazing value for money. Couldn't be happier with my stay.
Review 9:The accommodation was everything what you would expect and the staff were very welcoming, helpful and always on hand and had typical scouse humour which was refreshing!
Review 10:It's a shame not all four paying guests could have a bed, only two beds and 2 sofa beds which wernt the comfiest of sofas.
Review 11:Really helpful staff, easy access to town centre
Review 12:Excellent helpful reception. Lots of space Ideal for get togetherness Need a taxi or car to get around the city just a little too far out but still only £5.00 taxi Excellent value for money
Review 13:The location is in a very rough area of Liverpool and the police stopped us walking back to the apartment and advised us to get a taxi as the area was not safe for two women to be walking alone. This was our first time in Liverpool and we did not know the area when we booked it. The apartment was very noisy at night with a group of people shouting until early hours of the morning. You need taxis to and from the centre even though it was described as only being 9minutes from the city centre. The staff was very helpful and polite but did not feel safe in the area at all.
Review 14:The sofa beds were not comfortable at all. We had to switch around each night so nobody was stuck sleeping on them more than once.
Review 15:Cleanliness & general facilities were excellent. Location was a bit further from the city than i thought (25-30 mins walk) but only £5 for a taxi to the city centre so easily accessible.
Review 16:excellent apartments, well equipped and good for parking. 25 minute walk into town centre, but taxis are dear cos of all the traffic lights, meter still going when lights are on red.
Review 17:Heating system was out of order when we arrived and one of the windows was not well insulated on its frames. That means that inner temperature was really low. Though we reported the problem to the staff and they told us they'd have taken in charge, nothing changed.
Review 18:from the minute we arrived the staff were brilliant very very friendly having a laugh & jokes with my 2 sons great people & will definitely be back..
Review 19:We are from Liverpool and chose here instead of meeting in a pub. We took food and drink and had a lovely evening before retiring to our comfy beds. Staff can't do enough for you .
Review 20:A five minute taxi drive from Liverpool Lime Street station and a ten minute walk to get to town so good location, rather quiet on a night which was nice. Staff were so helpful and friendly. Room was spacious and comfortable. Will definitely state again.
Review 21:Wasn't a thing to dislike
Review 22:Fantastic apartment, very modern and spacious , great value for money and very close to the center. Will always be first choice to stay here again if visit Liverpool :)
Review 23:Did not worry me, but other guests likely to be lively until late at night on weekends (we were there Fri night)
Review 24:Quiet location near the city/University
Review 25:The area the apartment was in was a little suspect, but we didn't have any problems.
Review 26:The fact that even though we were a large group of lads, we were made extremely welcome. Also the facilities were good for the price.
Review 27:The area is not great to look at, but the lovely rooms make up for it.
Review 28:Myself and my friends thoroughly enjoyed staying at May's house. The staff were very helpful, the room was nice and spacious, stylish and clean. Access to the rooms are great as you don't have to mess around with keys. On arrival a member of staff came and greeted us and showed us how the heating worked. When leave another member of staff carried my things to the car. We will most definitely be coming back
Review 29:The noise levels were extremely high and intrusive. The partying from other flats went on until 2am then started again at 5am it kept us all awake along with the slamming of doors all night long that shook the building.
Review 30:Large apartment with Comfy beds
Review 31:TV in the room did not play dvds, not a huge problem. Sofa beds were not comfortable.
Review 32:Staff were really friendly, and the rooms were very nice and modern. Huge double bed, which fit four of us on!!
Review 33:Staff were all very accommodating, great welcome and very easy to get in touch with. Provided us with a 24hr contact number in case we had any problems. We were a bunch of university students coming together to celebrate our results and yes we were noisy but the staff were very understanding and polite to us at all times. Apartments were fantastic and plenty of room. Well decorated spacious and very clean.
Review 34:Noisy footsteps from apartment above and could hear parts of conversations. Not well sound insulated Could not get heating to work
Review 35:Clean and spacious
Review 36:A notice needs to be applied in the foyer for guests returning after 11pm to have consideration for others in the block by coming in quietly talking and doors.
Review 37:Accommodation was comfy and home from home. Bed very large and comfortable. Super location walking distance from docks, shopping.
Review 38:The apartment was stunning and clean, staff were very nice as we woke up late for check out, they let us get all out belongings together without fussing us.
Review 39:Poor sound proofing. One set of drawers in main bedroom had some wood peeling off and a few curtains were not hanging properly. The windows could do with cleaning.
Review 40:Closeness to city. Only £5 in a taxi. Free parking. Comfy beds.
Review 41:The staff were very helpful, helping us carry our luggage up the stairs & down when we left. The location was close to the city & was quiet. The apartment was warm, comfortable & large enough for what we wanted with all the amenities that we needed.
Review 42:No bad experiences
Review 43:Everything the people who owned it was so welcoming even took us McDonald's after our night out because we was hungry and didn't know where anything was
Review 44:Fans did not work in en suite bathroom or kitchen and boiler was in a wardrobe in main bedroom and would have been better in kitchen due to noise. Pull cords on patio doors or in fact any blinds need to be secured so children cannot be strangled. Child friendly cords would be good. Rooms could do with a bit of a refresh as looking tired especially bathrooms with water leakage damage showing from past leaks and a bit of Mould. All small things that can be rectified and would not stop me staying there again.
Review 45:Well situated to walk to docks and city centre. Felt welcome with a small child and noise levels from other apartments was not too bad. Rooms were tidy and equipped with what you may possibly need eg ironing board, mirrors, extra bedding etc the on call staff were very prompt at helping resolve issues such as DVD player not working.
Review 46:Large group of men returned at 2am singing shouting and swearing, no staff present to prevent the disturbance. They were up again at 7am shouting and swearing. When reported the staff claimed they were unaware of any issues!
Review 47:Good location
Review 48:Having to come home!
Review 49:Extremely helpful service... rooms looked exactly like the pictures could not fault it! Had no issues with sound from surrounding rooms either. Everything was clean and tidy. Will 100 percent visit again when returning to Liverpool!
Review 50:We had a 2 bedroom apartment for 6 people and the sofa beds in the living room were very uncomfortable however we were given extra duvets for the second night which made them more comfortable. If I was to return I would definitely book the penthouse which was a lot bigger and looked more comfortable.
Review 51:The room we had was lovely and clean and the staff were always happy to help us when we needed anything. Check in and check out was very easy and we were made to feel welcome.
Review 52:The kitchen has everything you need, even has washing up liquid and a sponge provided. The late check in procedure is very easy to use. My 2 year old son was asleep when we arrived, the travel cot that we had requested was there, and they even provided a sheet for it. Made life very easy for our late arrival. Also very handy having the big Tesco within walking distance. I have stayed here before, and will stay here again when visiting my family in Liverpool.
Review 53:The only downside was the noise from upstairs but it was a family with young children so no big deal. Better sound proofing would have been a good idea.
Review 54:Nice entry system - no keys - no check-in check-out procedures. Nice to have a living room and kitchen even though we didn't use them a great deal.
Review 55:Wifi was poor connection, the area was slightly out of town with no facility's around about .
Review 56:The apartment was lovely clean and everything you need.
Review 57:My only negative comment is that the building was non smoking, yet our flat had a musky smell of smoke for our entire stay.
Review 58:Location was ideal for a Liverpool stay as it is just a 10 min walk to the top of the town. The flat had everything we needed, even a washing machine.
Review 59:Loved the penthouse it was amazing it was for my hen so was great to be able to get ready and share the space with all the girls great place loved it thank you :)
Review 60:Welcoming and friendly staff. Received a free upgrade to larger apartment. Close to Anglican Cathedral and only 20 minute walk to Liverpool 1. Will definitely come back and will probably spend a few nights Christmas shopping!
Review 61:The manager/owners were so friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were all happy. One guest in my party needed a safety pin..within seconds the manager had provided one. Gave advice about taxis, takeaways etc. Fab place to stay.
Review 62:24 hr phone numbers don't work, left 2 messages after hours requesting someone get back to me asap and no response at all. Other than. That absolutely no issues.
Review 63:Lovely modern spacious apartment, comfy beds, great kitchen etc
Review 64:Staff were on point , spacious rooms , good quality service all round , would recommend highly to stay here ! Thank you mays house , enjoyed my stay here :)
Review 65:I like self catering as I hate eating in hotel restaurants when I travel alone on business. May's house was perfect for this, not luxury but really clean and comfortable
Review 66:Only downside was their wasn't duvet covers or spare pillows for the pull down bed.
Review 67:All the staff were wonderful and couldn't have been more helpful.
Review 68:Lack of basic kitchen tools such as a chopping board, tongs, masher, tea towels & suitable microwave cooking containers. The sofas were very uncomfortable. Had to ask for a hair dryer & for the rubbish bin to be emptied during our 6 night stay. The apartment was advertised as a serviced apartment which was not the case.
Review 69:Spacious apartment, comfortable bed.
Review 70:No close eating places, street parking only Upstairs
Review 71:This was a self contained apartment. It was clean and comfortable and close by car to Liverpool City centre. Would be good for longer stay in liverpool
Review 72:The cold tap in the bath didn't work (however they did send someone to look at it straight away)
Review 73:It was my birthday when I arrived they had put bday balloons and banners up for me which was a lovely touch very thoughtful we decided last minute we wanted a few more guests so they let us pay the extra to upgrade no fuss at all very friendly staff well presented rooms
Review 74:Run by two lovely brothers Ryan & Thomas. They couldn't do enough for us. We had 2 older ladies with us and they helped with doors, luggage etc. Nothing is too much trouble, their dad (also Thomas) even drove us to the Albert Dock one day. Nice people, nice place. Would definitely return and have already recommended to my daughter and her friends. It's a place for all age groups.
Review 75:No complaints.
Review 76:This was my second stay at May's House. It is clean, quiet and very near the city centre. (approx 10 minutes by bus). The owners are very friendly (Ryan was available 24 hours if needed) and their establishment will always be the place for me to stay when in Liverpool.
Review 77:But of noise from other people staying, going out to town etc. couldn't hear this at all in the bedroom though. Not a problem if that's what you're doing your self
Review 78:Goo living room/kitchen. Very comfy bed. Kitchen equipped with everything needed for cooking, pans, cutlery etc
Review 79:It was noisy at the weekend due to hen parties. The staff ejected a large group at 2 in the morning and peace was restored. Thoughtless guests are not the fault of the property and we have experienced this at several hotels.
Review 80:It is centrally located and an excellent place to stay for groups visiting Liverpool.
Review 81:The 2 'men' that were on duty at night were not the most mature. There were people making a lot more noise than us and they were not bothered by them as there were a lot more of them. They ended up Turning our electric off thinking we would not complain the older lad tried to belittle me which made the experience unpleasant. I will be ringing the owner!
Review 82:It was a lovely modern apartment with everything you need. Felt like your own modern flat. Security into the building and rooms were excellent.
Review 83:Excellent value for money. Plenty of space in the studio room and sufficient equipment in kitchen for short stay meals. Good general store, and take away next door. In spite of other reviews, there was no noise from other apartments.
Review 84:Can't think of anything maybe I little bit too far from the city centre as was a 20min walk
Review 85:Liked the big apartment room making it easier rather than having two rooms and hotel staff was very relaxed
Review 86:The area . It was very rundown . Would my feel safe to walk the streets we got cabs .
Review 87:The apartments were lovely had everything you need . We had 2x6 apartments acruss from each other so we just left our doors open when in and was like a huge apartment .
Review 88:Upon arrival we were concerned about the immediate local area, however it was a short taxi ride to the centre and we didn't need to go anywhere on foot so we weren't that impacted in the end.
Review 89:Good sized apartments, good facilities and conveniently located to the centre of Liverpool
Review 90:The noise there was a lot of university aged people who kept me awake till 4:30 As they were taking very loud , this is a ideal place for the, to stay but wouldn't recommend it for a family
Review 91:The space and size is great
Review 92:We were on the bottom floor apartment and our window opened onto the street so had to keep the curtains shut as people could see in
Review 93:How clean and spacious the apartment was. The beds were so comfortable, better than any premier inn ive been in
Review 94:Walls were a bit on the thin side as my husband could hear the neighbours, I'm a heavy sleeper so heard nothing/very little.
Review 95:Value for money...excellent! Locals were friendly and helpful, city centre is walkable or a taxi (We were told it would cost £3) - how can you argue with that? Very comfortable and spacious.
Review 96:Lovely spacious apartments. We booked two 6bed apartments - both came with two bathrooms and spacious living areas. We were all extremely impressed with cleanliness and general up keep of the apartments. We used the hairdresser who you can find on the website. She was lovely and really good value. Location was good - only £4-6 in a taxi from city centre. Will book Mays House again if we return to liverpool!
Review 97:Excellent staff, very accommodating and friendly. We were a large group of friends and they were a pleasure to deal with. Everything you would need, close to city centre.. Excellent value for money! Will definitely return
Review 98:Central heating was placed in the bedroom which caused some noise. You can turn it off overnight, if you like.
Review 99:The cleaners were extremely helpful and sweet, the kind of staff you don't often find in hotels these days. Location is a bit rough but close to city centre. It has free on-street parking right in front of the door which is very handy.
Review 100:I paid for our two night stay when I booked in January. I discovered after our stay in May that Mays house had taken money from my credit card a second time. When I telephoned Mays house I left messages on the answerphone aswell as text messages but nobody called me back. I managed to speak to someone eventually and they said they would call me back but never did. I called again and was told it was passed onto another department. I still have had no response from Mays house and have had to take this matter further. I have been ripped off and would warn others to think twice about booking to stay here.
Review 101:Very comfortable apartments with everything you could need and use of a shared outdoor seating area. The staff were friendly and helpful and Liverpool city centre was a 25 minute walk or cheap taxi ride away. The only thing I would say is that they might be better suited to younger people as they do cater for hen and stag parties (there was a group occupying one apartment when we arrived) and they can sometimes be noisy. But this didn't bother me and I would definitely stay here again.
Review 102:Thin doors and walls. Apartment right next to the street - people coming out to smoke in the morning were right next to our window. Dim lights in bathroom.
Review 103:Good location. Free wi-fi. Friendly staff.
Review 104:Not in the most amazing area.
Review 105:Great facilities, the apartment was well equipped and decorated to a high standard. 20 minute walk to Liverpool one or a quick taxi. Great price for the size of the apartment and worked out even cheaper than a hostel!
Review 106:Struggling, although wouldn't like to cook with the hob....it has definitely seen better days!
Review 107:Space, freedom instead of being tied to a hotel room.
Review 108:people who slept on sofa bed didn't sleep very well, Noisy but we were celebrating a birthday so we're out late, it may bother others?
Review 109:bedrooms great, with communal area. Staff friendly and helpful. Lots of parking available on road- maybe could be clearer on website. Great location taxi's reasonable in/out of town.
Review 110:Very noisy over the weekend, you can hear everything! However, didn't bother us too much.
Review 111:Really lovely apartment with everything you would need for self catering. Bed was huge! All really clean, and really enjoyed the stay. Very close to the City Centre and docks.
Review 112:Very conveniently located. Modern apartments with excellent facilities inside. Beds were extremely comfortable and we were upgraded free of charge. Would definitely stay again.
Review 113:Creaking floor boards above made it difficult to sleep, let alone the 2nd night where people were walking up and down the staircase and you could footsteps and also the front door entry panel was very noisey. Would not recommend this to anyone.
Review 114:Location was good.
Review 115:The area that the apartments are is a little run down and we were worried about security but there is CCTV and a taxi to and from Liverpool is easy to get.
Review 116:The apartments allowed a group of friends to stay together. It was very close to town, 5 minutes in a taxi. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 117:Nothing bad to say
Review 118:We got to the apartments 4 hours ahead of schedule. The staff asked of we'd like to go for breakfast. We duely obliged . When we got back, they were ready for us. Any question we asked to improve our stay , was dealt with on the spot. Fantastic staff and facilities to match !! I know where I'll be booking when I go back to Liverpool
Review 119:I was over charged but thankfully I regularly check my accounts. I had to prove I had been over charged by showing my internet banking but after this the problem was quickly remedied and I was refunded.
Review 120:Not very clean, loud noisy neighbours upstairs yelling, screaming, jumping and partying till 5 am. No sleep at all!
Review 121:Late check in and staff were very helpful with instructions and what to do.
Review 122:I feel the sofa bed was not sufficient for the third adult. It was too small had a large dent in the middle making it a very uncomfortable nights sleep. Using the quilt as a mattress topper helped and was happily provided by the staff.
Review 123:Great apartment, Great room, shame its a bit of a walk to town.
Review 124:The area looked a bit ropey. But didn't feel unsafe and anyway didn't stay around the area just got taxis. And it's well located near City centre.
Review 125:Had everything we needed. The guy who met us on arrival was great, very friendly helpful and welcoming. I'd definitely go back next time I'm in Liverpool. Near city centre also.
