Reviews for Glenshieling House
Review 1:It was not clear on the booking.com site that this was a B&B - it read like originally thought a small hotel. I was therefore a bit disappointed that we needed to go out for dinner. As the hotel was not in the main town centre we needed to take the car - after a long day driving this was a little disappointing.
Review 2:The welcome from the owners was refreshing. The were interested in the residents and the purpose of our trip. Louise gave us good instructions on eating out in the area after my initial disappointment.
Review 3:Only having a two night stay
Review 4:My wife and I booked this place as a late birthday present to one another and because I used to come here as a kid to stay in my Gran's caravan so it was also a trip down Memory Lane so to speak. On arrival Ric and Louise welcomed us, showed us around the dining room, living room and then upstairs to our room where we we thoroughly briefed on our extensive locally-sourced breakfast menu. We opted for the yoghurt, honey and banana for course one and fry-up for course two. Yes, it's a two-course breakfast with coffee, juice, cereal on offer right beside you. That place itself has to be seen to be believed. A detached house set off the main road and accessed by a private driveway with extensive grounds and, in case that wasn't enough, it's own woods with well worn paths. The entrance hall gives access to the staircase, living room (with comfy sofas etc.) and the dining room, The carpeted stairway takes you up to all rooms past some beautifully tasteful furnishing and a huge glass chandelier. The rooms themselves have everything you would expect from a place of this calibre; large comfy bed, television, tea/coffee/hot chocolate/dish of sweets, large clean spacious bathroom with power shower. Glenshieling House is very much a family run affair. Ric and Louise are a couple who literally cannot do enough to accommodate and welcome their guests. An example being when we fancied some takeaway Ric advised us where to go for the best one and had a full service set up for us in the dining room on our return. If you plan on travelling to Blairgowrie, for whatever reason, I can't recommend this place enough. My wife and I aren't the type to give praise where it's undeserved but Glenshieling House deserves ever plaudit it gets. Location, facilities and proprietors are all first-class. Can't wait to see it in the Summer!
