Reviews for YHA Liverpool

Review 1:Nothing negative at all

Review 2:Lovely staff, great little bar with nice food and drinks, very secure, 4th time in Liverpool best place we've stayed by far.

Review 3:Washrooms not brilliant, no plugs in wash basins, shower was tepid only, toilet seats cheap and moved around a lot, room fine, but small lights by each bed would be a help

Review 4:Location, eating and catering facilities, staff helpfulness and welcoming

Review 5:Shower needs to be updated a little cold for my liking also needs retiling & bringing up to date.

Review 6:Staff welcoming, helpful, especially Ian, location good. I came via public transport, but think the car parking charges are an unnecessary extra.

Review 7:Toilet and shower are together in the bathroom, that could make it harder to use if the room is full

Review 8:We'll located, with helpful staff and a well equiped kitchen

Review 9:I paid for breakfast (£5.25/person/night) and I was told that continental breakfast would be available. However, only Full English Breakfast was available.

Review 10:Staff was quite friendly, and they sell food and drinks at any time!

Review 11:Great location near the bus station. Reception is really nice and he recommended lots of amazing things to me. The room is big and clean. I can't come up with things that I don't like about this hostel.

Review 12:Right next to Albert dock. Staffs are extremely friendly and helpful. We arrived there very early, before 6 am. And the lady there let us stay in the TV room and have a rest. The staff who come from the lake district really has a sense of humour and helpful. Would love to stay there again.

Review 13:Rooms smell too bad like smelly feet. We paid (2 adults - 1 girl in hers 14) for 2 nights £118 and we did not have towels, soap and shampoo. The check-out is too early (10:00am)

Review 14:Location was good and the hostel has a kitchen with ovens, microwaves, kettles, cutlery and crockery which people can use.

Review 15:The "lockers" in the room are very poor, they use an old cabinet in instead of real lockers.. Upper beds doesn't have sockets to recharge your mobile =/

Review 16:Friendly staff, localization is amazing near from everything, and also the breakfast is delicious!

Review 17:The bathroom wasn't very clean so we had to give it a clean before we could have a shower but the room itself was large and the beds very comfy

Review 18:Location was perfect and to also having parking was great! The self catering kitchen we'd cery well equipped and clean

Review 19:Bathroom could do with maintenance toilet seat was hanging off and was a slight leak somewhere by the toilet could have been better.

Review 20:Staff were friendly location was ok.

Review 21:The kitchen was untidy and the meals a bit too expensive for a backpackers budget.

Review 22:Staff were great and the location was pretty awesome. Our triple room was super spacious and we had our own private ensuite with a bath!

Review 23:i arrived after midnight because of a delayed train, but I was greeeted by a cheerful helpful man at reception. The hostel was clean with a 24hr desk and some food available all night. The dorm bed was very comfy and I had a great night's sleep there. An excellent location close to the Albert Dock.

Review 24:Our toilet would not flush properly. The bed sheets were not changed once in our 4 days. There was a blonde memmber of staff a woman in her late 40s early 50's barged into our room one morning without even knocking, she knocked ad she was already in the room we were all just after taking showers and she says she looking to change the bin bag we told her it was in the bathroom and that we would change it, as she then tries to barge into the bathroom when you could clearly hear the shower on, thank god for locks on the bathroom is all. We had already taken a disliking to this woman as the day before we arrived down at 9:40 and asked if breakfaSt was still being served as it shouldn't finish till 10 and got a blut, very rude its finished anf she turned away, we then asked her how you get to town and again very ignorantly she told us you go out the gate and turned away again. Other then this very woman all the other staff was lovely to speak to and very helpful just try avoid this one.

Review 25:The room was a nice size, the bar a food facilities were great and food was amazing. The staff were very friendly bar 1 member of staff.the location waa perfect literally 5 minutes from the shops and pubs

Review 26:The rooms are a bit dated inside but this did not spoil our trip. For the price, it would have been nice to have a TV in the room.

Review 27:The location is excellent and the beds were very comfortable.

Review 28:The YHA was a good Base for us to explore Liverpool and enjoy some nightlife. The room was clean and warm with more space than I expected. Lovely friendly staff who were happy to help and give advice on local attractions.

Review 29:Windows in my room couldn't be fully opened. That's why i always felt stink of socks of other guys in room.

Review 30:Cheap price. Kind man at the reception.

Review 31:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 32:The staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The location was excellent. A cheap and friendly place to stay for a short stay-over.

Review 33:The wifi work only in reception, no wifi inside the room. you have to pay for the breakfast, no lift, no towels, no soap ( you have to buy them from reception), the carpet was ware and untidy, you have to pay in advance and if you change your mind the money gone,

Review 34:I did only like the location near BT convention centre, however there was another nearest hotels with better facilities

Review 35:Treated me very badly made me buy a 15 pound membership card which i could not afford and then would not refund it when i was asked to leave for no good reason. a lovely lady was also asked to leave for no good reason

Review 36:The staff didn't really take on board that there was a group if kids banging really hard and running all over the rooms above us at 6.30am in the morning. Also the afternoon and night.

Review 37:The comfort of the beds

Review 38:Long walk to centre

Review 39:Cheap and cheerful. A little closer to centre would be ideal but then it would be more expensive. Staff were nice and food was decent.

Review 40:The bathroom shower was very dirty with broken tiles and what looked like black mold all around the bottom few rows.

Review 41:The staff were knowledgeable of the area and could answer my questions quickly

Review 42:Bathroom facilities a little basic. bathroom would be better as a separate room down the corridor rather than "en suite" - you disturb the other occupants!

Review 43:Nice friendly welcome. Good facilities downstairs. Lovely and warm!

Review 44:Horrible smell in room, dirty carpet,in need of some serious attention / tlc. Bathroom was also poor. Plus no toilet paper on day 2.

Review 45:Reception and restaurant.

Review 46:1, Perhaps because the room I checked in was full that night, it was really smelly and very difficult to let the air go in; 2, Facilities in the bathroom were old and need extra cleaning; 3, WiFi can only be accessed in the ground floor lounge.

Review 47:Definitely worth the price, location is great.

Review 48:There's just no exhaust in the toilet to let the moist out so it doesnt smell damp.

Review 49:The staff are very nice and helpful. Even went out of their way to wake me up and remind me the correct time of my conference.

Review 50:Location is the only con for some people.. for me it is perfect.. just next to the quay for me to take sunrise shot.. and 2km from center ain't that bad... i stayed in a hostel that is 4km away from center

Review 51:Staff were very friendly... even helped me to print 4 pages air ticket totally for free Breakfast is very good and price is reasonable... love the hash brown... place is good not close to any bar... hostel restaurant food for lunch and dinner is also reasonably priced

Review 52:Would have been good to have a few teabags, sugar, coffee and milk for general use in the kitchen. Only there one night so a pain to have yo buy in.

Review 53:Friendly staff and excellent location. Breakfast also good value. Repainted recently so felt clean and fresh.

Review 54:Carpets need changing in rooms, I`m sure this will be taken care of in due course. There was a smell due to old carpeting.

Review 55:Lounge and kitchen was great.

Review 56:Very spacious room, beds were good, staff were helpful and friendly, wifi was good. Location was fine but a little further away from the centre, but still walkable from Lime Street Station and the city centre.

Review 57:If you wanted a lie in in the morning this wasn't going to happen. It's quite noisy (people in corridors, there was a coach with it's engine running right next to our window from 7.30)

Review 58:Perfect for what we needed. Basic rooms but comfortable

Review 59:The fact you can get food and cup of tea at any time day or night was fantastic. Other guests were very friendly and respectful. Rooms can get very warm at night so obviously not tight with the heating. Will definetly stay again x

Review 60:No internet in the rooms, just in the lobby on the ground flor No towels, shampoo and shower gel - you need to hire towel for £2 :(

Review 61:Price/Location - it's 2-3 times cheaper that nearby hotels and you live almost opposite Albert dock

Review 62:Good location easy walking distance into Liverpool staff were helpful and friendly excellent value for money considering the location private bathroom food and drink available evening menu throughout the night

Review 63:The friendliness of the staff. The security - access to bedrooms was through key operated doors. The atmosphere - very friendly. Shared eating area so that self caterers could eat with those buying breakfast etc.

Review 64:The location is not very near from Liverpool Lime Street Station.

Review 65:The staff is very helpful and friendly. We had some incidents and couldn't go to Lake District on the next day, we forced to stay another night in Liverpool. The staff was very helpful to assist us in this matter. Although my family and I slept separately in different dorm, we stil have a place to stay.

Review 66:Perfect stay, location was great very very close to Albert docks and within a 10 minute walk from the nightlife. Couldn't fault the yha for our stay. Had a better experience than a hotel I paid more to stay in recently

Review 67:Had a downstairs room near main access to upstairs rooms - was kept awake by constant opening and shutting of access door

Review 68:Great location, very helpful staff, free parking, great value

Review 69:we was on ground floor which we usually do as we have stayed here allot ,the first night was fine but the second night was horrendous there were a group of men above us who were shouting swearing and it sounded as though they were fighting ,we went to reception and explained our concerns the staff member went to tell the men to be quite as this was at 2.30 am the men did not take no notice and carried on till 4.30 .the staff went several times to tell them but obviously they took no notice .the staff did apologise to us and offered us a free breakfast

Review 70:the location is spot on ,the staff are friendly weve stayed here lots of times

Review 71:We we're on the top floor, no lifts so had to climb three sets of stairs. The room smelt like cheesy feet, shower drenched the bathroom floor - no towels or floor mats! Wouldn't stay here again - far too expensive for what it is.

Review 72:Stayed here as this was the cheapest accommodation in Liverpool that weekend. Location was the only highlight.

Review 73:James from the staff, who's been very kind to me and gave me very good tips about what to visit and where to go out in the evening. Then I loved the colour of the rooms and the quiet area the hostel was located at. I would suggest it to every sole traveller like me, but also to young couple and group of friends.

Review 74:The communal lounge was very small and there was much less seating there than in the bar/café. This meant less interaction with other hostellers.

Review 75:The staff were very friendly and the breakfast is wonderful! Liked the fact that there was a café/bar on site. Huge canteen area.

Review 76:Its a few minute walk within the city center but you will get by if you love walking. A quiet environment. Wifi connection is very poor, you have to stay in the cafeteria or lobby just to get a good connection. You have to rent towels and hair dryer.

Review 77:Everything there was nothing to like dusty dirty rooms no toilet paper no towels fag burns and iron burns all over the carpet I walked in at walked back out disgusting is all I can say and for what they charge is ridiculous

Review 78:Lockers in rooms need to be lockable or more security in the locker room so that people are not left with others luggage!

Review 79:The friendly atmosphere and cosy feel.

Review 80:bed clothes not changed. toilets not cleaned or even flushed smell was revolting. i have stayed in alot of hostels/very basic hotels and they were 5*+ compared to this place. if i was going on holiday i would not let my pet stay here as a boarding kennel.

Review 81:nothing good to say about this place. the location was about the height of anything good to say.

Review 82:Breakfast could have been better , orange juice tasteless and scrambled eggs not enjoyable. Put off a bit by women and girls having breakfast in their pyjama's!

Review 83:The staff were very friendly and gave me a very good welcome and explained everything clearly.

Review 84:Kitchen wasn't well equipped - 3 tea cups and the showers were a terrible trickle. It was also quite expensive to stay here.

Review 85:Great games room and fun outdoor area for the children to investigate.

Review 86:For two of us it cost £99 for one night excluding breakfast which is way more than any other YHA experience that I've had. And it looked nothing like the photos advertised to me, it looked far nicer in the photos!

Review 87:Fantastic location, just around the corner from the docks and within easy walking distance of bars and clubs!

Review 88:The toilet in our dorm room was leaking and making the carpet wet - not hygienic at all and we weren't offered any money back for this! not happy at all!

Review 89:Room was basic and clean - but value for money - staff were courteous and friendly - location was great.

Review 90:The bedroom doers are hard to unlock, more car parking spaces and the rooms were too warm at times

Review 91:Loved the location on the place, it's great value for money and they staff can't do enough for you

Review 92:Sound is a bit of an issue. If you're in anyway a light sleeper, take some earplugs to sleep with. Wifi didn't exist in my bedroom.

Review 93:Great location, decent sized room (6 female dorm) friendly & helpful staff, affordable.

Review 94:If there's more electric sockets in the room it will be perfect.

Review 95:Staff are friendly, everyone have their own wifi code and it's super fast. Location is walking distance to the Albert Dock. Gated property, and have enough space for everyone to put their bags into the cupboard and lock it up.

Review 96:The beds are slightly uncomfortable but not to the point where I'd change them.

Review 97:The staff where very friendly and approachable which is always the best part of a stay, they assisted and helped us with anything we needed.

Review 98:The room looked clean, had heating, and shower was hot. My friends and I ended up getting the whole room to ourselves for the dorm bed price, so that was great. Staff was friendly and let us leave our belongings at the hostel before official check-in time.

Review 99:Bathroom a bit tired. Shower didn't work properly- had to be held at a funny angle to work.

Review 100:Easy to find, free parking, within a 5 minute walk of the Echo arena. Comfortable beds.

Review 101:Weak shower... couldn't relax after a day of traveling because of the weal shower A bit not too clean (floor of room)

Review 102:few minutes walk from Albert dock/ Liverpool one Fast food available nearby Nice staff has a bar

Review 103:The hostel looks like an old school dorm, very old fashioned. The beds were not too comfortable and the room had a very weird looking carpet. Also the reception wasn't very friendly and the hostel did not helped in any way the interaction between guests.

Review 104:The city is nice and the hostel is quite close to Albert docks.

Review 105:The bad isn't cleaned! And after I told the waiters, they just fold the bad but not change a new badclothes!!

Review 106:The site is good, very near to museum Beatles and the river

Review 107:The carpeting was dirty, it has not been vacuumed up. There were no soap and no bath mat in the bathroom as well as no toilet paper. The door was not secured enough. Our roommates did not close the door correctly when they went outside so you have to be careful. There was a lot of noise in the corridors and also above our room so it was difficult to sleep.

Review 108:Beds were comfortable. The temperature in the room was good when we turned on the heat. YHA hostel is well located, near the city centre so we can easily access by foot.

Review 109:The room has a terrible smell of old socks. Moreover, there is not enough light and electrical plug holes in room.

Review 110:The dorm style is really convenient for group travelling with a tight budget

Review 111:Nothing it was all perfect.

Review 112:Staff were incredibly helpful, my opinion of hostels has increase a lot after this experience and I could not recommend it highly enough.

Review 113:not much facilites for clothes no bath mat or board for after shower

Review 114:location excellent for arena and shops very helpful staff nice reception and bar area plenty of hot water ,well heated

Review 115:When phoning for info I got put through to a call centre for all the yha instead of the specific Livderpool yha. I would prefer to speak to staff at Liverpool yha. The kitchen was big, but very sterile without a homely feel to it. The fridges full of ice, need to be defrosted.

Review 116:Location, friendly staff, big kitchen.

Review 117:One other stayer decided urinating in the corner of one of the balls was a good idea, it didn't get cleaned for a while.

Review 118:Clean warm rooms, great breakfast, really friendly staff, 24 hour access.

Review 119:The staff that made my check in was extremely rude. The whole hostel (and especially the bathroom) smells like mold. Couldn't make the shower work in the morning, only the bathtub (which was quite dirty). No free wi-fi, and no possibility to pay per hour, only for 24h (suggestion: go to any cafe, get a nice cup of coffee or tea and use the wi-fi. It's cheaper than in the hostel). Check out too early (10am), even though I had to wait until 3pm for check in because my room was still being cleaned (the official check in hour was at 2pm).

Review 120:Well, it was an OK hostel for my purposes - barely sleep there, since I spent most of the time outside. Location is good - just a 20 minutes walk or so to the Cathedral or to the centre. Liverpool is quite a safe city to walk around, so location is definitely a plus. And the prices are OK - expensive, but cheaper than the options. Plus about the room: individual power outlets for each bed, and lockers available inside the room next to the beds.

Review 121:The floor of the room was rank! I'm not saying it wasn't hoovered, just that hoovers get rid of dust not filthy grime. Carpets need a good cleaning! Breakfast wasn't up to much, but then for £5.00 for a cooked and continental breakfast, juice and hot drinks, can't really complain.

Review 122:The price! £119 for a 4 bedded room with a private bathroom was excellent given that other hotels were £140 for a twin. The room had bunk beds but it was large, so plenty of room for 4 to move about and get ready.

Review 123:It was £70 for 2 adults and 4 children. We could have had 2 rooms in travel lodge for £80 so had TV. Towels. Tea/coffee maybe reduce the rate for children Instead of £11 pp

Review 124:It was basic. Adequate. The staff were friendly but the kitchen/dinning staff outshone!! Lovely ladies. So polite and fantastic with the children

Review 125:I couldn't find a microwave but other than that everything is needed was very easy to find.

Review 126:I loved how central the hostel was and really really enjoyed staying in Liverpool because of the lack of paperwork. An excellent place to stay in Liverpool at an excellent price!

Review 127:old bathroom, when the toilet seat came off nobody did anything about it, the bathroom is old and when you have a shower water is all over the floor

Review 128:free parking, walkable to the centre and harbour, nice bar, clena and well -equipped kitchen

Review 129:breakfast was poor! £4.99 for economy breakfast was a bit steep. filled a hole but wasn't enjoyable. portion size was tiny and standard of sausage and bacon was very poor could tell they were very cheap and nasty. deep fryer could be used less.

Review 130:staff were fab very helpful and friendly. quick check in, room very clean and comfortable. group of lasses on bunks when drunk was a laugh. no trouble, no noise apart from our giggles. value for money was excellent.

Review 131:stuff wasn't placing beddings on a bag during cleaning time, they were throwing them on the floor in front of the stairs and people were stepping on them....

Review 132:location price stuff friendliness beautiful decoration nice people staying in

Review 133:This place is not near from train station and coach park. If you travel with your heavy backpack as like me there is really far to arrive there from those places.

Review 134:I liked all facilities in this hostel. They working as a professional. When you are arrive the hostel you notice that and they have a really nice garden.

Review 135:A conveniently situated hostel in close proximity to the core of Liverpool's maritime heritage and in close proximity to Chinatown and to the shopping sites. Two minutes walk from Liverpool's Bus Station #1 and 6 minutes from Lime Street Station. The clean member's kitchen allows preparation of your own meals but meals can also be bought in its cafeteria.
