Reviews for Duchally Country Estate - a CLC World Resort

Review 1:Weather could have been better and check in being 1600 hours was a rather waste of a full day. Check out being 10am was again a but inconvenient even though they charge you 20 GBP for check out at 12.

Review 2:Location - Services - Lay out

Review 3:I thought the hotel was fab, only down fall was the fact that we could not get hot water in our room before dinner. We where there fore unable to get washed and dressed in time to enjoy the entertainment. We had gone shopping and got caught in the rain returned to have a hot shower and get changed to go for drinks and dinner at 8oclock. The hot water was still not on it time to go for dinner so had to just throw clothes on and go down unwashed. We do understand that this is outwith staff control and they did give us one complimetary drink each with our dinner. We have a young family and do not get a chance to go places like this ofter so treated ourselves as an xmas present. But unfortuntely we spent 2 hours waiting to get a shower and then by the time we had dinner felt like we needed to just head back to the room for a shower after having been caught in the rain earlier. The meal was fab and the staff very attentive this was just unfortunate.

Review 4:Very clean and comfortable lodge in lovely setting. Food in the hotel was very good and the staff were very accommodating. This was our second visit. Looking forward to going back

Review 5:they charged us £50 for a camp bed for a 2 year old which was a bit much I thought wen we arrived

Review 6:Loved the pool area. The hotel was great for food and drinks do didn't need to leave duchally estate

Review 7:My son wet the bed one night and fresh linen was provided straight away (thank you) but the bed wasn't remade for us and then whilst we were out the beds were remade but the wet bed was remade using the dirty bedding not the clean linen.

Review 8:We loved our three bedroom lodge - it was so spacious! We felt like we didn't have to compromise as a family but had the same standard of family accommodation as singles/couples! We loved the touch of having bread, eggs etc waiting for us. The pool was lovely and beautiful. We adored the birds coming over to our deck each morning. The cost of our break was unbeatable! Thank you so much.

Review 9:Staff were not very helpful, gave the impression of being fed up. Probably following a longish Xmas season. The exterior condition of the properties looked rather jaded, in need of a good overhaul. Order in food was of a poor standard, not well prepared and presented.

Review 10:In a beautiful location, cottages spacious and clean.

Review 11:Four of us staying in a lodge which could sleep six yet disappointing that only enough hot water in the showers for two! Meal overpriced as standard of meal not great.

Review 12:Breakfast was average. Disappointed that house wine was one choice of red or white from miniature bottles rather than a selection from 75cl bottles.

Review 13:Very nice modern style room with big, comfortable bed. Evening meal was very nice.

Review 14:No bad experience

Review 15:The 3 bedroom lodge for 3 nights was just what we ordered spotlessly clean and more than enough room for 6 adults and 1 small child. The pool and spa area was small but very quiet and relaxing. We ate in Monteaths Restaurant on Saturday night where the food was excellent and the staff were attentive and polite. All 7 of us had a great time and enjoyed the peace and quiet and would gladly go back.

Review 16:The dining experience was a bit disappointing ,the two evening meals we had both nights were below standard for a hotel of this rating, the chef let this other wise first class hotel down.

Review 17:The Excellent staff friendly ,with a smile at all times.

Review 18:Price of the evening meal - very nice but a bit pricey

Review 19:This was an exceptional venue, particularly for the price. Outstandingly, the cleanliness of every facility was perfection and was really appreciated. Well done everyone, we had a great stay xx

Review 20:I know the lodges are scrupulously clean but it was quite difficult leaving by 10am. I know this is a minor point.l

Review 21:The lodge was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. There was plenty of room for five children to play both inside and out.

Review 22:Lunch service was very slow. The lodge was very cold on arrival as the heating hadn't been put on in anticipation of us arriving. Swimming pool was quite small.

Review 23:Lodge was very comfortable and spacious. Lovely outside seating area. Staff were attentive and helpful. Hotel restaurant served great food.

Review 24:Everything was great, but there's not a whole lot to do around the area. The swimming pool was a godsend - not much else to do unless you play golf! But lovely location and very relaxing.

Review 25:Loved the lodge we stayed in which was very comfortable and well appointed. Lovely bar and restaurant. Beautiful location.

Review 26:We arrived on Friday evening, 6 November, the lodge was easily found, was extremely clean and very modern. The photographs on the website were the same standard as the lodge we actually got. The facilities from the bedrooms to the kitchen were excellent. Will definitely be back. The reception staff deserve a word of thanks when two of our friends couldn't get a taxi from Auchterarder train station on Saturday evening and there is no shuttle service from the estate. One of the hotel workers went in his own car to collect our friends - above and beyond and very appreciated.

Review 27:This was the third time I have stayed here and have already booked for Valentines The staff are so friendly, welcoming and professional. If you are looking for a traditional country house hotel with great food with staff who make you feel welcome and special then this hotel has to be up there.

Review 28:Would have been better to have been advised re cleaning days. Would have liked more allocated parking as we couldn't park near our accommodation, better views from the lodge.

Review 29:Friendly staff, excellent spa facilities, comfortable accommodation

Review 30:We enjoyed all aspects. Food and entertainment were satisfactory.

Review 31:Beautiful accommodation, furnished to a high standard. Very well equipped kitchen. Stunning environment with well tended grounds.

Review 32:Nothing bad - would like fitness centre to be open earlier than 9am and later than 9pm, maybe 7.30 to 10?

Review 33:Comfort, hotel style service, coffees and homebaking at lesuire suite. Pool and fitness suite.

Review 34:Dinner was very poor, chips were too crispy and steaks didn't come as specified. There was no food selection at breakfast and upon being seated we were told not to touch was was left on the buffet before another table filled their plates. The Blonde waitress that was around totally ruined what was a lovely stay with her bad attitude.

Review 35:Greeted by a friendly receptionist who made us feel welcome. Hotel room and surroundings were beautiful. We had friends who were staying at one of the lodges which was also great.

Review 36:Can't think of anything. Except the weather

Review 37:Came for a family birthday with family and friends. We had a fantastic time. Lodge was very comfortable and leisure facilities good. Grounds beautiful.

Review 38:We were a bit disappointed on arriving as we couldn't see the beautiful surrounding views leading us up to the estate due to the mist, but what can you expect in October. The staff on our arrival at the estate were very helpful and friendly. We were very pleased with our room, everything was spotless and found no fault at all. Would we go back Yes.

Review 39:Was rather disappointed with leisure facilities. Far too small for amount of people present . Also, games room and lounge definitely lacked atmosphere.

Review 40:lovely homely bedroom with beautiful view from window. Bed very comfortable. Dinner excellent, served by friendly and very helpful staff. Also, enjoyed substantial breakfast.

Review 41:Lodge was very basic compared to previous lodges I've stayed in at Duchally....previous stays were not booked through yourselves

Review 42:Location and bar/restaurant facilities

Review 43:The games room could be updated and perhaps include a table tennis table. Noise of arcade machines was very annoying.

Review 44:Comfortable warm lodge. Lovely swimming pool.

Review 45:The constant harassment over having our mini jack Russell in the car. Restaurant couldn't accommodate us. Food menu same all three days, lunch & dinner. The Sunday morning receptionist was rude & the main reason I wouldn't return.

Review 46:Apartment was nicely laid out & clean.

Review 47:Didn't dine in the restaurant so no comment

Review 48:Sarah-jane, receptionist was brilliant! Nothing seemed like trouble to her and made our stay that much more special! Thank-you very much:)

Review 49:The leisure facilities are quite small for the number of cottages. The check in is quite late and the check out quite early.

Review 50:The Cottages were well equipped and a great size. The grounds were lovely. The supplies in the fridge for our arrival were a nice touch. Would recommend Duchally to friends and family.

Review 51:No DVD facilities in room; Spa facilities quite small and limited didn't take many people to be in area to make it feel crowded. Table tennis in games rooms would have been a nice change from pool table and gaming machines. Not getting to see a red squirrel :)

Review 52:Rooms huge; beds huge; breakfasts and food great; staff very helpful and friendly

Review 53:I had a major problem as the staff insisted that I remove my dogs (2 Labs) from the back of my LandRover ( where they regularity sleep ) and take the to kennels over 10miles away!!!! I was not allowed to walk them on the hotel grounds even on a lead !!!!!! Also they would note give me a vat receipt of my stay .... The place was pants !!!!

Review 54:Clean and comfortable

Review 55:Got a discount train fare then fell victim to avaricious taxi firms. £10 or more between station and hotel. Taxi to and from hotel cost same as Livingston to Gleneagles return train fare

Review 56:Peaceful location with panoramic views

Review 57:Room was extremely hot even with the window open and a fan.

Review 58:Dinner was lovely but the dining room had very bright lighting a little nicer lighting would add to the ambience and give the room a nicer atmosphere. Maybe some candle lit tables?? The bed was so comfy. Shower was a bit poor, due to low water pressure. Altogether a nice stay. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Review 59:We had an excellent deal through booking.com at the time. Not sure our value for money score would be as high otherwise

Review 60:Location Our room was spacious comfortable and well equipped Layout of the resort

Review 61:First, this is not a luxury property. Although the living spaces are nicely equipped and decorated, the bathrooms and bedrooms could use work. The beds are either too hard or too old (we tried them in both bedrooms), the bed linens in one of them were cheap, and the bathrooms have mold around the shower/tub edges. And the bathrooms generally need to be updated to be rated this highly. Also, we could not be accommodated for dinner after our arrival and they couldn't even provide the take-away service they had offered because the restaurant was "over booked". I'm sorry, but you have to provide your guests with some sort of reasonable food option--fine if we can't get a table, but the kitchen can't cook at little more pasta? We weren't looking for fancy. Overall, very disappointing other than the size of the apartment and the living spaces.

Review 62:The location was great and the apartment living space was bright, useful and inviting.

Review 63:Early check out at 10 am. Lovely tidy cottages with great supplies and lovely to have milk in the fridge. Floors could be cleaner but only noticed because of toddler crawling!

Review 64:Wonderful quiet setting and fabulous food

Review 65:Having to put guests up on a bed settee when I asked for a three bedroom! On enquiring I was told we could not be moved as the site was full. This was not the case.

Review 66:Room 12 was a bit noisy unfortunately. Didn't spoil a lovely visit but you could hear every word in the neighbouring room 11. I'm sure this isn't the case elsewhere. These rooms are pretty new - get the contractor back to insulate them properly. Otherwise very good.

Review 67:The staff are lovely and make you feel very much at home. The hotel room was very comfortable, nice bathroom and dinner/bar staff really friendly and accommodating. A lovely place to stay and relax.

Review 68:The bed was a bit soft for my liking.

Review 69:An excellent location for a short break. Beautifully maintained estate. Staff were most helpful and very pleasant.Would certainly recommend Duchally.

Review 70:The cleanliness in both the leisure area and lodge were not of a good enough standard. I found bottle tops under sofas and the curtains in our lodge and the floor of the seating area in the leisure centre looked like it had not been swept let alone washed for days.

Review 71:The location, perfect for a short trip with a young baby.

Review 72:Had issues with hot water not working on the 1st day; sorted out on day 2! Check out times are very early - can be difficult with families and kids - information regarding extended hours could have been better

Review 73:Excellent location Beautiful lodges - modern and clean

Review 74:As we were travelling with kids it would have been good to have a tennis/badminton court. Other than the swimming pool, we had to go out of the estate to keep the kids entertained

Review 75:The apartment was clean and comfortable and very well equipped for a self catered stay.

Review 76:We enjoyed everything especially the peaceful location. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and our 44th Wedding Anniversary! We'll definitely be back and would recommend this hotel to others. The friendly staff on arrival made us very welcome!

Review 77:Service in bar could have been better. A little more attention to customer needs by bar and waiting staff needed.

Review 78:Lovely part of Scotland to have a base to visit so many places.

Review 79:Only there for 2 days.

Review 80:Absolutely wonderful idyllic location. Tranquil, yet easy to access local cities and must see local well known points of interest.

Review 81:They should inform us how often housecleaning happens. Cause we had two days at the beginning with and the rest without.

Review 82:They where very helpfull and their local knowledge was very helpfull.

Review 83:Ate in the bar one night but food could have been a lot better so ate out next night

Review 84:Our lodge was very comfortable and enjoyed watching the ducks and birds outside Luxury

Review 85:Great facilities but a little limited for the kids during bad weather. Bike hire didn't offer off road areas for the kids to cycle safely.

Review 86:Great location, clean and were left alone to get on with our holiday.

Review 87:Rooms 11 and 12 are both essentially next to the staff offices. If you want any kind of lie-in I think the other side of the hotel (where the rest of rooms are) would be quieter. We had doors opening and closing plus raised voices and footsteps from first thing - not the best if you want to wake a little later! Also a king bed would be welcome.

Review 88:Liked the location and the breakfast - amazing (although daunting in size, even for someone with a healthy appetite!).

Review 89:Beautiful location, lovely self-catering cottages with all the amenities you would need. We stayed with our three kids in the 2 bedroom lodge (no 705, garden cottage), and had a brilliant stay. Surroundings are great with lots to do, also with young(er)kids (11, 9 and 6).

Review 90:nothing

Review 91:beautiful setting, extremely well maintained spacious property with quality fittings and bedding. We even had a red squirrel visiting the feed box outside our window! Small but lovely leisure facilities.

Review 92:The mattress was saggy making for a long and uncomfortable sleep. Was surprised that the cooked breakfast was a buffet, there wasn't enough turnover to keep the food fresh so breakfast was a let down.

Review 93:Our room was tastefully decorated with a very new bathroom. Dinner was fantastic, the best part of our stay.

Review 94:The washing machine had two socks in it from a previous guest. The washing machine was difficult to use. You could have better access to ice. The pool information said it was open until 9 in one place and then in another it said the last entry into the pool was at 8:15. Why is that a requirement? Then when we checked in the person said we had to be out by 8:45. Why the inconsistency? To me when something says it is open until 9 it is open until 9, if you want to come in at 8:59 and swim for a minute that is fine as long as at 9 you exit the pool. Perhaps a small thing, but it is the principle. The heaters were difficult to adjust and set.

Review 95:Overall nice accommodations, it was a nice break from the small hotel rooms in the UK.

Review 96:Late check in of 4pm is far too late - paying for only half a day. This would put me off from booking again ....£140 for half a day is not value for money.

Review 97:Lodge was lovely and spacious.

Review 98:We had 2 families, 8 people in total and the pull out sofa bed just didn't seem big enough for 2 adults. Apart from that we had a lovely time!

Review 99:The estate had a lovely feel about it, completely relaxing atmosphere. The lodge was well equipped and very clean. We all really enjoyed it.

Review 100:Everything, the staff were so friendly, the grounds beautiful, breakfast was amazing. Cant fault a thing, will definitely return. Would highly recommend. We stayed in the hotel, next time will try one of the lodges they looked so nice. Best stay we have had by far.

Review 101:The setting & facilities are spectacular. The atmosphere is welcoming. The staff were very friendly & professional. 10/10 ... Well done!

Review 102:Lack of atmosphere in formal dining room (so ate dinner in Bar), bedroom too hot and stuffy overnight despite window full open. Diffficult access junction to public road.

Review 103:Wonderful grounds, genuinely friendly and welcoming staff, key to room not keycard, very relaxed but efficient place to be. Very peaceful.

Review 104:The layout of the lodge is a bit tricky for noise. The kids slept through most things but the dishwasher couldn't be used at night as it was directly above a bed. The fridge did not work but the maintenance team were great and brought us another one to use as well. The restaurant was prohibitively expensive for us as 3 young couples with 3 kids under 4. The wifi was OK but we had to keep logging in. It perhaps wasn't intended for so many users (6 adults with iPhones).

Review 105:The leisure suite The 3-bed lodge was great and really well equipped. The setting was lovely, a wonderfully laid out resort. Lovely walks could be had from the resort. Handy for lots of day trips. Beauty by Brenda was fab, three of us had aromatherapy massage which we all enjoyed. It was a very good deal that we got (57% off) and so felt like excellent value for money, I would have paid more but I'm not sure we would have paid the full price.

Review 106:Excellent accommodation in a beautiful setting, the staff were friendly and on hand whenever we needed anything. Our lodge was nice and quiet, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The leisure centre facilities were excellent and we enjoyed dinner in the restaurant on one night, as well as the whisky tasting session and a wonderful massage with Brenda!

Review 107:There was this Scottish woman that kept staring at myself and my family. Ok, you do get the old stare now and again, but this woman got her eyes stuck on us moving in and out of minibus (8 no incl. children x3). Moving in and out of the lodge we had. Everybody complained among my family. Rude and arrogant stare, you could feel her eyes behind your head. I had to ask her, if I could help her. She then turn her stare down a notch.

Review 108:Excellent in all aspect!!!!!

Review 109:Booked special Sunday night rate of £95 and were treated like second class guests. Hotel advertises mountain views but all we saw was a shed and scaffolding. Put into one of 2 isolated rooms at the back of hotel even though others were available. Had to phone reception after midnight to complain about 2 young men in the adjacent room shouting and swearing at the football on the TV. A retired couple who got very little sleep, no lift and no view! Unacceptable!

Review 110:Very warm bedroom , uncomfortable to sleep , and it was only May! Staff stretched at dinner time, lack of senior staff I felt

Review 111:Friendly reception staff, lovely setting and facilities

Review 112:Limited free wi-if, a lodge that accommodates 8 people, and the router only works for four of them, and it's locked to first four devices??? (Unless you pay extra!)

Review 113:The restaurant and the quality of the food was a little disappointing. The lack of tablecloths gave it the appearance of a canteen rather than the restaurant in a top-class hotel.

Review 114:The grounds were lovely. The room (in the main building) was large and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 115:kitchen was well equipped but oven didn't work properly without grill going on so ruined most of our food. They were aware of this and sent people to look at it but unfortunately didn't offer us any compensation

Review 116:lovely comfortable clean modern lodge with many good facilities

Review 117:The floor could have been cleaner The bed matrassess were too soft for what we are used to.

Review 118:The Location Friendliness of Staff No carpet on the lodge ground floor The terrase

Review 119:The accommodation was fantastic, lovely sitting area to sit and have breakfast outside. We also had a meal at the restaurant it was fabulous. Great portions for kids and adults.

Review 120:Stayed at Duchally several times just to chill with the kids, this time we used it as a base to do lots of different activities, including day trips to Aviemore and Luss, ideal location on the A9 to go in any direction.

Review 121:games room needs upgrading especially for teenagers as they found not a lot to do.

Review 122:The lodge was beautiful, staff friendly, welcome pack a great idea as no shops without travelling, site spotless.

Review 123:Breakfast , average, and found the poached eggs 1) tasted on vinegar not egg 2) were cold . Cooked breakfast, the quality of the items , not very high , very average really given the room rate.

Review 124:Bathroom, good size, spotless, modern, plenty hot water Room, good size, comfortable

Review 125:Only issue was outside bin not emptied but staff responded quickly. It was a bit pricey too.

Review 126:Accommodation very clean and well furnished. Grounds beautiful and local scenery stunning. Kids love the pool. Lots in surrounding area to do. Requested a ground floor living area as one guest less mobile and this was organised.

Review 127:There was a problem with the bed. It was sorted within the day

Review 128:You hear people commenting and you may think "yeah realy" But this place realy is a home from home. superb surroundings with a VERY COMFORTABLE appartment.

Review 129:The electric hob which did not work very well. The lack of any casserole dishes and serving bowls. Enough crockery, cutlery, glasses and mugs etc... just no serving bowls. Microwave not very easy to understand. The worst thing though was the disgusting showers over at the swimming pool area. Yuck. Then the children jumping into the jacuzzi and no staff to kick them out. This area should be supervised and the jacuzzi should be for adults only. I would return to the villa but would not recommend the swimming pool area. Also quite small and crowded.

Review 130:Would rate this 4 star rather than 5 star. Bed very comfortable, bathrooms and fixtures and fittings good. Outside decking but overlooking other villas. The honesty of the cleaning staff when they handed in a gold ring that was left by my sister. Thank you! It has sentimental value.

Review 131:The accommodation was well set out and very comfortable .Didn't make full use of the hotel facilities as this place is well located to near by attractions and places of interest. How ever we did use the pool which the kids loved . Nice safe environment for them to play. Over all enjoyed our stay very much

Review 132:The dinner in the restaurant in the evening. The steak was inedible. The staff responded immediately and changed the dish to lamb shank which was delicious. We didn't like the swimming pool area it was very small.

Review 133:Comfort in the lodge, lots of space and the kitchen was very well equipped. The lounge/living room area was lovely. The Lodges are great.
