Reviews for Hatters Liverpool
Review 1:Was an alright stay for what I needed. Very close to Limestreet train station and about 20min into the city. Staff weren't fabulous but did the job. Toilets off the common area were gross and dirty. Bathroom attached to my room were fine. Not many people staying when I was there. Liverpool itself is an awesome city. Glad I visited after many people telling me it was dumb. Good breakfast. Wifi only available in rooms. Easy access for luggage.
Review 2:So freezing at the hotel even in the room too brr brr I was actually shaking all over the night!
Review 3:Excellent location! Tesco express and McDonalds just down the street few minutes walk to Liverpool ONE/nightlife room was basic but nice and clean
Review 4:Bed not very comfy, but still ok for the price.
Review 5:Nice staff, clean rooms and good breakfast Shampoo in the bathroom Central Liverpool, about 5 minutes away from Lime Street Station Cheap
Review 6:Room was very cold. Had to sleep in my clothes. Radiators didn't work. No TV remote control. Water coming in through the window and running down the wall. Considering it was supposed to be value accommodation, I could have got a travelodge for the same price, been comfortable and had a good sleep.
Review 7:Speed of checking in
Review 8:The room is mould. The whole building is not good at sound insulation so you are not lucky to live next to crazy drunk folks, your stay can be a nightmare!
Review 9:The staff are friendly
Review 10:Staff were rude, breakfast was shocking. Room was outrageously overpriced for what we got. Dirty bunk beds in a tiny room... £200. Wasn't impressed at all. Asked for a taxi to be ordered only to be told to flag one down outside. Bedsheets were stained with bogeys.
Review 11:Good location
Review 12:the location is in a perfect location, only few minutes walking from the Lime station. Rich and nice continental breakfast (for free!) Good free wifi everywhere Clean rooms and comfortable beds Nice reception staff Nice buildings inside and outside (i liked the breakfast room a lot!)
Review 13:Location is perfect, walking distant from the pubs, clubs and shops - it was fantastic for a girls weekend away. We had a private room which was very comfortable and clean.
Review 14:Noisy revellers in corridor nearly hours woke me up several times, so didn't have a comfortable night's sleep
Review 15:Location excellent for University and City Centre. Interesting old building and interior [breakfast room]. Helpful and friendly reception.
Review 16:My bed didn't have a jackspot and i needed to charge my fone far from my bed. When the alarm starts, It was embarassing. But it's not a problem, just a suggestion.
Review 17:It's really near to the principal station and I went on foot for many places.
Review 18:You have to either rent or buy the padlock to secure your locker. I'll just bring my own padlock next time.
Review 19:Very cheap. You get free breakfast with the room. Location wasn't that bad either.
Review 20:there is no electric socket near my bed so it is a bit inconvenience for charing phone.
Review 21:Very convenience, it is just 5-7 mins by walking from Lime street station to the hostel. They also include breakfast.
Review 22:Kitchen is big but not clean enough. The trash bins inside the kitchen are too small for whole guests so overloaded. The heater seems has its schedule by the hostel and it was lately turned on after we complained on our second day (9 pm).
Review 23:Staffs are nice. Location is perfect, near to attractions by walking.
Review 24:The cleaness and the bed,bed has a gap to wall, things can drop down.
Review 25:Cheap, again it is very cheap, the price include breakfast even. And if you are lucky will meet interesting people.
Review 26:Our first impression was strange due to the guy on reception, his instructions were'nt very clear and he seemed a little distracted.
Review 27:Location was great, breakfast was good.
Review 28:If you want to experience Charles Dickens's Victorian England then stay here. I can only assume that they want you to pretend you are Oliver Twist while you die of hyperthermia because they refuse to turn the heating on until a certain time and then turn it off again in the morning. While the pungent smell of smoke in the 2nd room we were given may have been more bearable if the TV had worked. It's an old, presumably listed building which is why it doesn't have double glazing and why it needs heating to preserve the life of the building and it's customers, although the winter breeze may be sneaking in through the large gaps between the window and the walls. I booked a hostel with a hotel price because I was lured in by the quirky 'boutique' style decor of the double rooms and while the bed sheets are clean, the bathrooms pretty new, you can get all these things for the same price in a hotel in Liverpool and with the bonus of heat. I advise you to stay somewhere else unless you are a young group of people staying in a dorm or are from a place (like Siberia) that may consider Liverpool's winter climate exotic.
Review 29:The staff were patient and polite, the breakfast was a decent buffet although didn't really cater for different dietary requirements. Feel free to try the warming porridge to give you that authentic Dickensian novel feel.
Review 30:Weak wifi in rooms, there was no bacon and eggs for breakfast that day, I was waiting for my english breakfast.
Review 31:I chose a female dorm ensuite which was really comfy when travelling. I liked the architecture of the building, the breakfast hall and the fact that was warm inside and in corridors.
Review 32:Customer service is shocking, i couldnt find a place to park and the surly man behind reception when asked where to park he just shrugged his shoulders and muttered 'just drive around til you find one'
Review 33:Location was good and rooms are clean For the price it was ok but theres better place you can stay for the same price
Review 34:There was very limited heating supply during our stay there. Unfortunately we were freezing from cold and its not fair with the amount of money that we have paid!
Review 35:Staff were trying to help and support.
Review 36:Los huéspedes que venían de fiesta a las 4am hacían mucho ruido y gritaban. The guests who came to party at 4am were loud and screaming
Review 37:Todo en general muy bien.Everithing in general was perfect
Review 38:I didn't like that rooms are quite small for eight people in the same one. Also, the night I stayed there, the fire alarm turned on at midnight on a saturday night. Even when we left the room, we weren't told what happened and why it took so long to deactivated it.
Review 39:Myself and my partner spent a few nights in the Hatters as a cheap anniversary get away, the staff were excellent and provided a congratulatory bottle of prosseco upon arrival. Great service
Review 40:cleanliness was not a plus disorganisation at the breakfast preparation and some food missing selling the plug adapter instead of giving for free during the stay
Review 41:location overall experience ambience in the building
Review 42:The bathroom was not very clean on the first day and had a very bad smell. I didn't complain and just cleaned it a bit. But: On the next day, I found that they cleaned it, the smell was gone. The tv cable doesn't reach the socket :D
Review 43:The staff is more than friendly; The location is perfect; The dining room is cozy.
Review 44:Dirty uncomfy room, holes in the walls, door had previously been kicked in, could hear the couple upstairs having sex through paper thin walls and beds were rock hard and sheets were like paper, paid over £100 for one night, contacted the hotel and they never bothered replying
Review 45:Staff were friendly
Review 46:We would have liked tea making facilities in the room. The outside view was a brick wall!
Review 47:This was as good as any national hotel chain at a fraction of the cost.
Review 48:The only relevant negative issue was the price, it is more expensive than the average of most hostels in Europe (10 to 15 euros), that besides the lower cost can even have better conditions.
Review 49:In general it is a good hostel and offers the most relevant things for guests.
Review 50:Beds were the most uncomfortable that I've slept on in the three months I've been travelling Europe in Hostels. You shouldn't have bed springs digging into your back all night!!!
Review 51:Short walk into he centre of town, all facilities are there, they just aren't at he highest standard.
Review 52:However noisey couple in the room next door. Woke me up at 4 am shouting and slamming doors.
Review 53:Was a great cheap hotel. Great facilities. Great location and best value for money. Would use again. :)
Review 54:One night in dorm was disrupted by another visitor but the staff were not notified by me at the time. The following day they assisted me with a change to a budget private room.
Review 55:Friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast included. For me, visiting family and sights it was the perfect location and allowed me to economise on accommodation and spend more on meals etc
Review 56:Was on ground floor room. Heard everyone coming in at night. Some guest very loud no respect for others.
Review 57:Good location, great breakfast. Comfortable bed.
Review 58:There was nothing to dislike and I am very fussy in all things
Review 59:Liverpool has always been a favourite place for myself. The stay at Hatters was very good excellent as it was my first stay in a hostel. I have since been in two hostels in the south of England, and none measure up to the standards that Hatters have shown their customers. If a hatters was to open every town city I would use as I'm sure others would as well. Thankyou
Review 60:The only inconveniente was that the housekeeper entered in the room before the check-in time while we were there, and after that tried to knock again before 11am.
Review 61:The room was fine and clean! The breakfast was simple, but as it was free it was great! It's also nice to have hot water, tea and coffee during all day!
Review 62:12 beds room is located in 1G so very humid. changed my room to 4beds(extra charge) but too small, unclean room & bathroom. And too cold!!
Review 63:Good location to walk around Free breakfast
Review 64:The room was very dirty. We could not even go to shower because it was disgusting. It looked like the room attendant forgot to clean the bathroom. Even the windows did not close properly and the wind came to the room when outside is 2 degrees. I know it's a hostel not a 5* hotel but still...not hygienic and clean at all.
Review 65:The breakfast was okay. We thought it's worse after we saw the room.
Review 66:We had a private 3 bed room wich was a little cramped and could only find one plug. The room was cold although this didn't stop us having a good nights sleep. The room where breakfast was served was cold as well.
Review 67:Location was good and they had a deal with the carpark round the corner, it only cost £3.50 to park for 24 hours with a voucher from the hostel. Breakfast was OK, all you could eat continental filled us up for the day. I don't know if the hostel wasn't very busy on the night we stayed, a Thursday but we didn't hear any noise at all.
Review 68:My room door is not functioning and its not locked properly, I cannot open the room door everytime I touched the card, my room mate need to open the door for me from inside. The toilet in my room (four bed dormitory) is not comfortable at all. The bedroom too is not comfortable. Lucky I stayed here for one night.
Review 69:Only location and good room mates.
Review 70:There was nothing about this hostel to complain about. The staff are lovely, helpful and friendly. The place is spotless. I had a double room with an ensuite which was very modern in its decor. Maintenance crew were in every day and knocked on your door every morning to see if you wanted anything like fesh sheets and towels and if you weren't there they just came in and did it. Any issues with the room were sorted straight away. I was checked into the Adelphi for 2 nights prior to what was meant to be a 2 night stay here. Hands down I would choose hatters hostel over the Adelphi any day, I should have checked out Tuesday morning but ended up booking another 2 nights because I did not want to leave. Only life today because I ran out of money to book another night but I would rather have spent the £186 I paid for 2 nights at the Adelphi here much better value for money
Review 71:Unfortunately we were stuck in between 2 rooms of very noisy students who seemed to think it was okay to scream and shout and run about the hotel banging doors at 3am until 4.30am. Staff did tell them to be quiet twice and I went out after them once to tell them to be quiet but it done no good, the noise would stop for a few minutes and then start up again. Although this is no fault of the hotel it ruined our stay.
Review 72:It was in a perfect location. 5 minute walk away from the main shopping areas. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful any time we encountered them. There was free wifi throughout the whole hotel and breakfast was included at no extra cost.
Review 73:Nothin it was all good I can't fault your hospitality and your welcoming and the staff always have a smile and are all great to get on with
Review 74:I liked the view from the window we had a clear view of radio city tower and the staff were welcoming and friendly and I would recommend your hotel to anyone
Review 75:A kettle in the room was missed in the mornings & late evening - maybe not practical in the large dormitories but might this be affordable in eg the twin room I shared or family rooms?
Review 76:No one single thing. The combination of an affordable room in a city central site, the choice of room types, clean rooms and friendly atmosphere all benefit two ladies with no car & low income.
Review 77:When I arrived at my allocated bed somebody was already there claimed didn't speak English and wouldn't move, because of back injury can't do top bunk. So slept in different bed
Review 78:The location and the price
Review 79:Firstly there was a random cat outside my door as we came down the corridor. The sheets were unclean on the bed. The bed was very uncomfortable, In fact we were itching from it .. Maybe it's the cats staying there.. The window in the room did not shut, therefore freezing. Breakfast was poor.
Review 80:Nothing.
Review 81:It was very noisy, being in the room ready for bed fairly early due to flight next day, but still about 11pm, the guests in other rooms were so loud that we could hear them over the tv! Also on the Saturday night the guests were so loud we had to leave early to go out because it was so annoying.
Review 82:The room's design was brilliant as well as the rest of the hostel. It didn't feel like a hostel and more of a small hotel. Beds were comfy and bathroom was clean, which is all we really needed while we were there!
Review 83:Shouldn't be advertised as a 3 star 'hotel' may be a 3 star 'hostel' definitely not a 3 star standard hotel, had people screaming down the corridors out side our room from 4.30am till 6.30am and again at 8am, had people banging on our door at 6am - did not feel safe at all, did not feel comfortable in the room, it was in awful condition, overall a terrible stay
Review 84:Bathroom needs a lick of paint. Reception understaffed but friendly.
Review 85:Excellent location for exploring. Great to see how much Liverpool has changed since I left 24 years ago. Hostel room basic but we didn't mind. Breakfast simply a choice of cereal, porridge and toast, with tea & coffee.
Review 86:Less friendly staff in the breakfast bar. A water samovar and a jar of instant coffee. It was great having breakfast included but I dread to think about the impression taken away by foreign visitors of English food.
Review 87:Location was excellent, friendly staff at the desk
Review 88:I have stayed in alot of hostels this one was the worse. Was so dirty toilets were disgusting, beds not made properly, showers definitely not cleaned everyday. Was supose to stay 7 days only stayed 5 because of how dirty it was
Review 89:The staff and location
Review 90:Hatters was very impressive. The location was ideal and the prices were cheap considering the proximity of the hostel to the main city. It was walking distance to most of the city, especially the shopping centres and nightlife areas. The rooms were clean and spacious, particularly the bathrooms. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I was very impressed with my stay and would definitely return.
Review 91:very dirty, you CAN SEE THE DUST on the bed frame, the room I was first given smelled of bleach really badly, I asked for a new room, and although it was better, but still you hear very bad smells at the bathroom and toilet!
Review 92:The location is good!
Review 93:As it is an old building, the ventilation is too weak to bring out the humidity in the bathroom. So it is a bit smelly there. The problem can be solved by closing the door and opening the window. For this price it is no reason to complain about.
Review 94:Hatters is a typical hostel in a nice old building. Although almost every hotspot in the city can be reached within a 5 to 20 min. walk, it is situated in a quiet quarter. Staff is friendly and the service is absolutely worth the price.
Review 95:The pillows provided were very thin (felt like My head was on the mattress when I was sleeping), showers not super great (no place to set toiletries if using your own, shower would fill with water instead of going down the drain during showers, shower head was only one stream and it was very high pressure, just a tad small -- not a lot of room to adjust your position while showering without bumping into something), laundry (tried to do laundry there before traveling to Dublin later in the day, but there is only one token for the washing machines and someone else had already got it from reception, costs £5 to get the token and detergent pod), kitchen missing some basic cookware (cookie sheet, silica pads), heating shut off at night (I think, because it was really cold in the rooms at night), wifi was spotty (was able to connect fine the first night, but it wouldn't let me access websites I needed to for school work, very slow, and ended up turning it off on my phone because using data was faster).
Review 96:Free continental breakfast (cereal, toast with jams, coffee, tea, small selection of fruit), atmosphere (central location, other guests had some interesting stories), beds were comfortable (bedding was clean and the comforter was warm), small lockers in the dorm rooms for personal stuff (locks can be rented from reception if you didn't bring one), laundry and kitchen available for use, 24 hour reception, helpful staff (called me a cab multiple times during my stay, printed off tickets and things for me), and there was free wifi.
Review 97:No parking, but mainly I enquired by email about recommended parking and never got a reply. Our shower was a bit blocked, nothing big but slightly annoying. Bad coffee!
Review 98:Great Location, we walked everywhere. We had a double room, which was nice and not too expensive. It was clean and decent size.
Review 99:Windows need upgrading, for all to open or close properly when required Poor bedside lights. Unfortunately the building could do with a general GENTLE upgrading. (to retain character).
Review 100:The character and feel of the building, Friendly helpful staff .Location. Ability to make hot drink more or less constantly. Breakfast satisfactory for price. Prompt attention as when bulb failed and sink slow to empty.
Review 101:Beds in twin room were extremely comfortable. Perfect location, walking distance from centre. Excellent value for money when only wanting one night accommodation.
Review 102:Poor value for money. Our room was quite old and dirty. The breakfast was really poor and they charge extra fee if you want to upgrade it.
Review 103:Good location. Really nice and helpful staff.
Review 104:- it was not thoroughly cleaned. - the space between bunk beds were too narrow - bathroom needs refurbishment
Review 105:- the cat in the kitchen - the breakfast menu - lots of information about tours in Liverpool and discounts/offers for restaurants/ tours nearby - the location
Review 106:Lack of space in room and it was cold through the night Poor quality of beds although duvet was sufficient but the base of the bed was very secure that you could not chill out . Shower room has reasonable space but poor quality of spray and cleanliness .
Review 107:Fair location
Review 108:Room was slightly cramped. Also the elevator was broken, and walking up 5 flights of stairs was not the most pleasant, at least they offered a clean towel to compensate for that.
Review 109:Location was excellent -- very close to Lime Street train station and city centre. Also had well-equipped kitchen.
Review 110:Carpet in bedroom not very clean. Mattress protection on one of the beds was not very clean
Review 111:Staff brilliant, good value for money. Plenty of hot water to shower anytime. Continental breakfast included plus as much tea, coffee and hot chocolate whenever you wanted it. Bottle of water and biscuits in room on arrival. Free luggage store.
Review 112:Quite chilly in the rooms and throughout the hostel. Heating not on yet even though it is the middle of October. I asked the receptionist about the heating but got no joy. Remember to take some form of picture ID. They were going to turn us away when I luckily remembered I had a works pass with me. Not used to having to produce this in British hotels. It did say on the confirmation email but I didn't read it properly (till afterwards!).
Review 113:Excellent location near the centre of town, on the north side. About 10 minute walk to theatres, Lime Street station etc. Good parking in the multi-storey over the road for £4 per 24 hours. It closes at 8pm however, so no good if you want to be out at night. You also need to nip over at 8am to put that days Pay and Display ticket on. Good value for money if you go mid-week, very expensive of a weekend though and I wouldn't want to pay too much for it. It's very much a basic hostel. Good continental breakfast, cereals, porridge, fruit, toast, ham. Free tea and coffee all day.
Review 114:Room was a bit small
Review 115:Great location ,five minute walk and you are at the Cavern, room was clean , continental breakfast all you can eat and the price was very reasonae.
Review 116:The carpets in the room were really dirty under the beds, there was quite little space between the beds (very narrow). But the worst was the bathroom. The smell was not quite nice and I think that was due to the mold spots on the wall/ceiling.
Review 117:Super friendly staff, very nice and atmospheric common areas and FANTASTIC location! Also nice with the free lockers in the rooms and fantastic with 24 hours open reception! I enjoyed the breakfast (especially at the weekend) a lot - fantastic good yoghurt and many types of cereal.
Review 118:Great location in a vibrant, student area close to all main attractions and transport links. Good facilities and good breakfast. Great view from room. Big bathroom with good shower. Laid back vibe.Good value all in all.
Review 119:Staff were so arrogant. Andrea made me feel awfully uncomfortable and I felt as if I was always being a nuisance to her, that's the impression I got with her attitude anyway. Also if you have a sleeping bag bring it. The beds aren't the most comfortable!
Review 120:It's basically what you need in an English city on a budget. Wifi was great, bathroom is good and breakfast is what you expect for the price you pay but still filled me up
Review 121:Very cool place. Is like a mix of hostel with pub, nice decoration and you can drink whatever you want in the bar. The breakfast was just what you need and with good variety. Looks like the hostel is for a young couple or young spirit people.
Review 122:Well at night its too noisy couldn't sleep peacefully...and regarding about the cleaning it must improve....
Review 123:Well it is not far from the city thats one of the best thing...
Review 124:There isn't enough plugs in the room for everyone. One night a couple of drunk Americans boys kept coping in and out of the room but I guess that's to be accepted In hostels.
Review 125:It's located a quick walk from everything. There's a tesco around the corner which is convenient. I didn't have time for breakfast but it looked really good.
Review 126:breakfast could be richer in diversity, bathroom could be cleaner
Review 127:perfect location in a beautiful building, very comfortable bed, cute decor inside the room, great wifi connection
Review 128:Surprised I could not book for my return on Saturday unless I paid for 2nights! Even then you had no vacancies apart from a private room for200pound!! Oh dear! Too dear!
Review 129:Friendly and helpful staff calm and peaceful atmosphere ..excellentvaluefor money!
Review 130:The beds were quite squeeky which might make you worry that tossing and turning might wake your roommates. But relatively comfortable none the less.
Review 131:Breakfast will keep you going for the day. The dorm had a washroom conveniently inside the dorm. Super nice staff. Staff from all over the world too.
Review 132:I have stayed in quite a few Hatters now and it is always the same in all of these hostels, good food, clean, good value and fun times but forget getting any sleep. In every Hatters there is no proper security staff so people come in all night drunk, singing and slamming doors, totally impossible to sleep so just stay up and party too!!!!!!!!!!!
Review 133:Good location, and a really nice old building.
Review 134:The wifi is awfulllllllll, so slow, what's more the elevator was out of order when I was staying there so i had to move my super heavy luggage from 5th floor. House keeping service was not good either
Review 135:The location is very good, it's quite close to Lime street station and also the city centre. the bed is very comfortable.
Review 136:Beds still make too much noise, each time you move they squeak too much making you feel un-comfortable. Experience this time ruined by the other people in the room as werent used to staying with people apparently, answering phones and speaking to each other at 1am in the rooms. A small note to explain the rules for those people who dont know what respect is would help.
Review 137:My 4th time stating at this hostel, always well priced, excellent location and very well renovated since the last time I visited makes it look modern and more welcoming.
Review 138:Basic room no comforts, cold, noisy especially in the corridors, no tea coffee facilities, buffet room closed at 7am despite tea coffee facilities were supposed to be available at all times in the lobby!!
Review 139:Location
