Reviews for Chalet La Maitreya
Review 1:The garden area needed some work and the sofas upgraded.
Review 2:The views were spectacular and it was a good location to base yourself for cycling and touring the alps.
Review 3:Absolutely loved this place. Wanted to stay an extra night but had to go to Italy. Great location as a base to cycle the epic Alpe D'Huez and fabulous breakfast to set you up. Staff were wonderful helpful and good fun.
Review 4:Some areas could be cleaner and tidier, empty cigarette packet in plant pot by front door does not create a good first impression.
Review 5:Very friendly, given freedom of the chalet so can feel at home. Hot tub, honesty bar and good breakfast. Were flexible in changing breakfast time for us.
Review 6:There was a bit of a problem for noise at times especially with the wood flooring and guests stomping up the stairs early morning. Think there should be more of an emphasis on guests to be quiet especially when others are still asleep and as breakfast is 8-10am there's no reasons for all guests to be up early. There is a big problem with flies at the table especially as they fly onto the food your eating and any food sat on tables! I didn't like seeing my pastry sat there on a morning when I came down knowing the flies would have had a nice sit on it (especially if we didn't get down till 9.30 and they'd been sat there since 8!) maybe would be better offering pastry when guest arrives down. It was also rather hot while we were here so would have liked a fan in the room or air conditioning as we couldn't leave the doors to balcony open because of flies/mosquitoes so some nights it was like a sauna!
Review 7:It was a very nice chalet. The staff here are lovely Astrid was especially welcoming and helpful when we were planning things on days we weren't busy. The food on an evening is a nice 3 course surprise offering with tea/coffee afterwards. July is an excellent cook. Prices reasonable on the honesty fridge which was easy to access. The rooms were nice and simple decor. The surrounding views were breathtaking and was a real pleasure to wake up and look out to them.
Review 8:Rooms were quite basic, although this suited my need to perfection. Wifi only worked in the communal areas
Review 9:Staff were very friendly and helpful Fantastic location with great views Great base for small groups planning to explore the area by bike
Review 10:NA
Review 11:Exceptionally friendly, competent and interactive young hosts! Facilities, location, breakfast - awesome!! Great assortment of wine, beer available from the in-house self serve bar at great prices. Breathtaking views from the all aspects of the property. We'll be back!
Review 12:The staff (Stephen and Laura) were very sociable and willing to please. The views were amazing - especially whilst in the hot tub! The food was excellent. A superb short break. Thank you
Review 13:Needs toaster , only 2 car parking spaces for chalet you can park in town but a very long walk into town
Review 14:Lovely big chalet for 5 with the use of a hot tub lovely host, and tranfers to ski lift and back fantastic view from hot tub of mountains, can order bagettes for morning
Review 15:Laura and Steven are the greatest hosts! In this chalet you will find what chalets should be all about. A huge dining table to sit together and chat with other guests at supper while enjoying Steven's delicious courses, a hot outdoor jacuzzi with a breathtaking view on the valley, nice interior with a fireplace, etc.. It's more than just an accommodation, it really adds something to your trip. Great value for money, highly recommended!
Review 16:Fair wifi connection No tv at the room (but I don't care).
Review 17:Good breakfast Lovely dinner with starter and dessert. Very, very kind and helpful staff. All the visitors was like a big family at the breakfast, dinner and by the fireside +++
Review 18:It's the first time I run into a place which doesn't accept MasterCard...
Review 19:The location is great, the view from the room was breath-taking! the staff were nice and friendly and the breakfast was good.
Review 20:only a small notice: bedroom on the hill-/street-side was a little bit noisy in the morning from cars and motorbikes cornering up and down the mountains - but all in all it is not much traffic in Vaujany
Review 21:the perfect service, the charming service crew, the relaxed and "beeing at home" atmosphere, the room interieurs, excellent food and drinks at breakfast and dinners, the view into the valley and to the mountains from the house and the terraces ...
Review 22:I didn't like that I can't stay there to live!
Review 23:Probably, the best place where I have stayed. Calmed, beautiful, great food, and wonderful staff. What else can I say? I will be back.
Review 24:Unable to think of anything. We were very happy from the moment we arrived
Review 25:We booked for one nights stay. Wow! The attention from the staff, the food and accommodation were excellent. It is a small hotel, but each person is made to feel special. They go out of there way to make your stay special. We spoke with other people who had stayed and we all agreed that this place is a hidden gem. It was so good, that we plan to return again. I have never felt so enthusiastic about a hotel stay.
Review 26:The staff were particularly good, always accommodating and friendly. Food excellent too.

Review 39:Wow - Chalet La Maitreya provides service that makes a trip memorable. We stayed for two nights (in Spring) with breakfast and dinner package. The chalet has a Sauna & ski drying room which we didn't use and they are currently installing an outdoor spa. There is a separate guest lounge room and a fridge / bar / wine cellar on an honesty system. The dinner meals were three courses professionally presented. The staff provide valuable advice to complement any plans you may have and provide helpful advise on the area, region and country. There are a number of balconies to admire the mountain scenery. We stayed mid season, with cycling the Alpe D'Huez one of the reasons for visiting the region and found the value for money outstanding. Vaujany is a better option than staying in nearby busy Bourg D'Oisans (15kms).
Review 40:Although functional, I think the cooking utensils & equipment could be better...eg a bigger sauce pan & a toaster would have been nice.
Review 41:Friendly staff, comfortable chalet- beautiful views.
Review 42:Evening meal portions could have been slightly larger ... enough for us but only because we ate full hot lunches.
Review 43:Comfy sofas, log fire, good quality food, friendly staff, excellent choice of wines and beers in honesty bar.
Review 44:There was nothing we didn't like at this hotel.
Review 45:Great value. Wonderful setting. Peaceful and quiet. Staff very helpful and friendly. Continental breakfast was great.
Review 46:No choice of food at dinner. Our hosts were away second night of our stay and temp staff cooked a very poor meal. Nowhere within walking distance to eat out.
Review 47:The friendly owners, clean and comfortable bed.wonderful views from room.
Review 48:Friendly welcome Quiet room, spectacular scenery, wide choice for buffet breakfast including organic products, excellent freshly cooked evening meal
Review 49:Paying for coffee
Review 50:Extremely nice staff - fun and accommodating
Review 51:Nice and helpful staff, god standard and our children whanted to stay longer:-)
Review 52:Wonderful relaxing place.
Review 53:Beautiful setting, lovely staff, stunning views, great food - wish I could have stayed longer
