Reviews for The Sea Princess
Review 1:I didn't have anything bad to report but one area I feel could be improved would be the cleanliness of shower cubicle and fittings.
Review 2:the location and the facility to park off road and the cost of stay, the breakfast and the friendliness of staff
Review 3:Windy weekend and very drafty through the window. The bed was a bit uncomfortable.
Review 4:Staff very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very good. Nice to have a free pool table and bar.
Review 5:Manager rude. Hotel dirty and very very cold. Bedroom window was broke and would not shut. Bed really hard breakfast room extremely cold. Only one member of staff was helpful. Not worth the money. Would never go back again. My advice stay away
Review 6:We likes the thought of going home.
Review 7:Called up the day before New Year's Eve and was given a positive view on the hotel. When I arrived I was disappointed. I was told on the phone that the bar was all restocked. When we went to the bar there was no beer in the pumps so all that was available was bottled beer and bottles Coke and a small selection of spirits. No rose wine was available or much choice for a young child to drink. Was really disappointed about this. We then was told at check in that breakfast had been put back a bit for New Year's Day and it would be between 10&11. We arrived down in the breakfast hall at 10.30 and was told breakfast had finished and was between 9&10. Was really disappointed about this but thankfully the cook made us something. I won't be returning to this hotel as to me this was a bad experience.
Review 8:Was close to the shops and the amusements
Review 9:It's a bit of a walk into the centre of Yarmouth. (10mintues walk),
Review 10:It is not a 5star hotel, but everything is clean, tidy and really nice staff. At £40 for two people with a really nice full English breakfast it is almost impossible to beat.
Review 11:Not happy how the central heating was regulated
Review 12:Great location, excellent wi-fi connection, clean room, good breakfast and good parking facilities and staff are friendly.
Review 13:Nothing to complain about, except at breakfast one of the pots of coffee was rather watery, until replaced with a fresh pot. Shocking!
Review 14:A nice clean simple hotel room with bay window and high ceiling, sufficient tea and coffee with clean cups, little cartons of milk and kettle, clean shower and bathroom facilities, plus a sea view and a friendly receptionist.
Review 15:Did not have a bath and full english breakfast was average, poached eggs were not runny, scrambled egg was overcooked very rubbery.
Review 16:Staff could not do enough for you, great value for money. Would definitely stay again. B&B on sea front.
Review 17:There were people hanging out the windoes smoking it looked and felt like a youth hostel for young offenders my wife would not get out the car had to book somewhere else have reported the place to trading standards !!!
Review 18:Nothing !
Review 19:In the room, shower it was frozen.that's why little boy after that night have cold
Review 20:Good location-opositive off street sea.I wery much like lady who works in reception she is lovely, wery friendly
Review 21:Extremely dated, all the lost spakfilla in the world was in the shower, toilet took at least 6 flushes to flush, floorboards creaked, furniture wobbled and kettle set off fire alarm, door lock flimsy, should be advertised as workers accommodation, this all made it overpriced, would have been better if advertised correctly. No soundproofing and our room backed onto running track and football field :(
Review 22:Staff were friendly, a drink on arrival, terrific breakfast made the stay bearable
Review 23:Quite dated could do with a complete refurb - but it is a rather large hotel and would probably cost a fortune. Unfortunately on the day of departure the lift broke and we had to drag our luggage down from second floor. But overall you get what you pay for here.
Review 24:Breakfast was good and staff happy to help.
Review 25:Total dissatisfaction! Booked 4nights "room with bath please". Arrived and reception promptly took full payment. Then told only shower available and take it up with manager in the morning. Next morning manager confirmed no "room with bath" available. I said that I would need to leave as the booked room wasn't being provided and requested a refund for the 3 nights not taken. Manager said he would have to contact "head office" as he was unable to refund. Called back later after work and was offered a room "with a bath down the corridor available to other guests". This again not as booked so requested refund. Refused again! Left and found nice hotel nearbye. The 1 night stayed was more than plenty! Small tired room, saggy creaky bed, tiny TV stuck on one channel, dirty floor, gaps in tiling, unsecured electric plastic conduit, ill fitting curtains, no restaurant, bleak bar area. I will pursue claim for refund by all means available as this hotel totally misrepresents itself and I have now seen other feedback showing a pattern for this appalling behaviour. Hotel has history of changing name! Tourist office showed no surprise when I raised my complaint there. This is my first poor review of any hotel after many years of using this booking site! STAY AWAY!
Review 26:Pleasant breakfast lady, Shame she has to work here!
Review 27:Shower had very small cubicle. No evening meal availability.
Review 28:Pleasant, helpful staff. Good sized room with tea making facilities & TV. Double bed was clean and comfortable.
Review 29:the manger was very good nothing was a problem and it was a very good stay we would come back is was very good we are sad that we had to come home thank you very much derek battison
Review 30:Extremely dated, small room that smelt like smoke. Felt that too many rooms crammed in, cramped corridors. Limited parking, staff knocked on door at 7am to ask if a green car was ours.
Review 31:Location, staff were friendly.
Review 32:Breakfast times to early
Review 33:Nice location friendly staff Could do with a 2 hour block for breakfast as 8-9 to early. 8-10 would be better (missed 3 out of 5 breakfasts) Only down full
Review 34:Location to the beach. Hotel next to us had a swimming pool, evening meals 3 course £22.50 each food very good ate there two nights in a row
Review 35:Very limited parking, being blocked in by other cars. Heating turned off at night. Got cold. Only limited breakfast served. Resturant in evening closed for the season. Had to go out for our meals. Spider eggs hatched in the room. 56 killed, mananger was awear. I will never go back.
Review 36:I stayed with a friend and it was out of season, but the staff were friendly, the room was good, we both had a good nights sleep. Breakfast was good. There was nothing to complain about - especially at the price of £44 for two people
Review 37:The room was very cold, heaters were on but they were not sufficient in respect of the size of the rooms. The room was advertised as en-suite, but the bathroom sink was in the bedroom, the shower was very small, the shower cubical, shower curtain, shower mat were very discoloured and dirty looking. I had to pay for parking the first daybi arrived. £7.50p, because the advertised free parking was full so I had to park on the road overnight. I informed the manager of this. I wad not offered any sort of refund, however he did suggest that I leave my key with him so that he could move my car as soon as a space was free. At breakfast the tea and coffee was already made up onto flasks. I prefer to make my own tea to my own strength.
Review 38:I liked the friendly, approachable, and helpful staff. I liked the low price! I liked that my mum, my sister and I could stay in one room.
Review 39:We really enjoyed our stay, very clean spacious room, comfortable beds, excellent breakfast, all staff very helpful and friendly, Would definitely stay again!
Review 40:bathroom was a little small.but this is not a complaint .
Review 41:exelent location along the sea front, and we also had a sea view.and staff were very helpfull.and we only paid £44 which included breakfast.
Review 42:Upon arrival John gave me a double room as an upgrade. It was much appreciated.I requested breakfast early and there was ample choice and was given a hot breakfast.
Review 43:Our room was slightly smaller than expected and would have preferred a sea view room but there wasn't one available
Review 44:It was a really nice location overlooking the sea. The Breakfast was very nice and plenty of variety.
Review 45:Electrical sockets falling off the walls No spare sockets. No telephone in room. Allocated wrong room & no parking reservation. Lift broke down on the 5th day. No suitable replacement room. Left 2 days early. No offer of refund. No evening meal available Hotel overbooked.
Review 46:The Location
Review 47:Had a problem booking on line so called to sort it out and staff very helpful however on arriving it was unclear whether the money had been taken or not and whether the room was as requested. The receptionist phoned the manager and put me on the phone and he was very curt and began to shout which was totally unnecessary and very off putting. The rest of the staff were excellent.
Review 48:Basic 'clumpy'old building with odd corridors stairs and rooms but our room was very clean the beds very comfy breakfast was good and tables etc clean. Couldn't have asked for more really for what we wanted and paid.
Review 49:There was someone smoking drugs in the next room, however the only staff member on duty was female and wasn't comfortable confronting them. The managers are a waste of time, I asked for my money back but was faced with "I'll have to speak with the area manager", I believe this is an independent hotel. The tea and coffee was in thermos flasks at breakfast and the both tasted the same! Very dated and needs renovation! Stay in the Premier Inn instead.
Review 50:The welcome by the manager was very humble and polite. The bed was very comfortable with all the facilities .Breakfast was ample and of high quality. Will return again.
Review 51:the Hotel split into 2 parts, main building and annex next door, we stopped in the annex which we found the room we had as a double to be far to small , too much furniture in it , tired decor and bathroom was a disgrace , shower curtain ripped , very poor quality appliances i.e bath tub , shower , sink taps turned round when trying to turn them off , overall very dated, the bed was too low and the mattress was uncomfortable, could'nt wait to get back to my own bed after 3 nights there.
Review 52:Location good as quiet area , staff friendly , breakfast adequate
Review 53:Everything. The carpets smelled so bad it made you feel sick. There were such strong air fresheners in what was described as a shower room ?? You could hardly breath we shut them and had to sleep with windows wide open! Could not face having a shower !
Review 54:Nothing, except leaving a day early?
Review 55:Only bad point is the cost of parking near hotel
Review 56:Made to feel really welcome. Staff excellent. Brilliant value for money for a hotel in a great location.
Review 57:Small room, old cheap furniture, chipped tea cup, bathroom poorly fitted out, but clean. Breakfast quite poor- fruits from cans, plums ok, but grapefruit gone sour. Coffe - cheap instant, eggs overcooked. Checkout early (10am)
Review 58:Location, price
Review 59:When we arrived there wasn't any parking spaces but found a side street in the morning and left the car there for the weekend. We had room 10 which had a sea view and balcony and very comfortable. Breakfast was very good and set you up for the day. Was there for the football and buses to Norwich where cheap and regular, if Leicester play Norwich again we would definitely stay again
Review 60:Just a small thing - one of the casters was mssing off the twin bed and it sloped a little because of this.
Review 61:The manager was a lovely man. He seemed genuinly pleased to serve us and was welcoming and informative. He upgraded us to a sea view room when he realised it was a birthday celebration. The room was huge (albiet a little dated0 with a fab bay window overlooking the sea.
Review 62:experience overall was pleasant ..no real downside ,although the hotel could do with a bit of an update.
Review 63:very good breakfast.....pleasant staffr....excellent value for money
Review 64:Shower curtain rail came down and hit me on the head. Room was tiny and needed updating. Had to leave car keys with the owner in case my car needed to be moved.
Review 65:Location
Review 66:Room was disjointed for an 'upgrade' the shower was behind a wooden door, it had two empty cans of beer on the beside table and curtains hanging down!
Review 67:Staff were friendly.
Review 68:Not much room around the bed. Not always attendance on the bar or reception
Review 69:Lovely clean rooms and friendly helpful staff . Breakfast was lovely and Lots of choice.
Review 70:Had to park on the road for the first couple of days as I didn't want to hand over my car keys (but the info does say first come, first served on the parking so no real surprise).
Review 71:Excellent location just a short stroll from the town centre and pier, & just slightly longer to the Sea Life Centre and model village. Good breakfast - nothing fancy but plenty of it. The room was a bit dated but perfectly adequate and clean with comfy bed.
Review 72:Location close to the beach. Friendly and very helpful staff. Good Breakfast. Considering the fact that the building was very old and the room was very small, the shower cubical and the toilet was new and clean.
Review 73:Furniture tired. Carpet dirty and marked.
Review 74:Sea view lovely. Breakfast excellent -service and food. Staff polite, helpful and pleasant. Bed comfortable.
Review 75:staff hovered at door of dining room obviously someone once went for a second glass of fruit juice. parking an absolute nightmare, hotel room in need of updating, bathroom in particular, would never go back.
Review 76:nothing, booked and paid for 3 nights and left before breakfast on second day
Review 77:Trying to get in after 11 30pm & the key would not work on the both nights i stayed. Whole place needs updating& the one hour time slot for breakfast is ludicrous for a hotel. Manager/owner wants your money as soon as you arrive even though it was secured with a credit card. I would not recommend staying in this hotel. Perhaps I'm just spoilt from previous hotels i have stayed in but i expect a little better even from a budget hotel.
Review 78:Location & parking.
Review 79:shower curtain black at base of curtain. the first come first served basis of the parking facilities meant that we had no use of our car, due to restrictions. i.e. we did not want to lose our parking space. Being in our seventies it meant a lot of walking instead of comfortable travel in our car
Review 80:easy access to town centre. Staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. breakfast selection very good.
Review 81:The tv was to small and to high up on the wall lol
Review 82:We were met with a warm welcome and checked in quickly by the hotel ownerJohn who was helpful and curtious, the rest of hotel staff were friendly and nothing was a bother when we asked for anything. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. On the whole we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is undergoing some improvement and decorating works but found it no discomfort and if you dont like something have a word with the management and they will do their best to sort it. Not the Savoy but a good budget hotel with a fair price, enjoyed our stay and would go back.
Review 83:Room very tired, could do with refurb
Review 84:All staff very warm, friendly and welcoming, the bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was more than adequate
Review 85:owner needs people skills. waitresses very good, had leak in room and owner wasn't bothered. people who had been using it for many years as guests were noisy and not bothered about other guests views. they were vey loud especially when artists were on. we paid for break so if they were not interested, they should have left the room. all they were interested in was racing and bingo, which they did themselves
Review 86:clean room
Review 87:Wi-Fi was useless in the annex. Most everything else was unimpressive, but did not warrant complaint.
Review 88:Location was good on sea front 5 minutes walk to town centre. Staff were pleasant.
Review 89:The rooms and communal areas are very dated and the reception is located in a odd place , and in my opinion makes for a bad impression.
Review 90:The manager and staff were very very helpful and attentive. We could not fault them at all . Breakfast was good and served in a professional manner. There was a varied a good selection. I as a wheelchair user was more than adequately catered for .
Review 91:Old, dirty, food was awful got mouldy green toast served to us.
Review 92:The staff were extremely helpful especially Andy, and the position of the hotel was excellent
Review 93:If you dont mind hearing the person in the next room on the toilet then you will be ok.The staff were very pleasant and helpfull but as for the Manager/Owner not worth the light of day speaking to the staff like he do in front of quests. Will not return.
Review 94:Rooms need refurbishment as they look very dated, windows in room need repairing as only one opened the other 2 were broken.
Review 95:Friendly staff, lovely breakfast
Review 96:The owner is a patronising Asian gentleman who gave us a sea-view room which sadly for us we did not check before paying. he insisted on us paying as soon as we arrived. we took 10 hrs to geet there and money was his first demand. then he patronised us with guff that did not appeal to us. then we saw the room: it was filthy and so small the wardrobe cannot be opened as its doors touch the bed ? it was appalling: we left within 10 mins of seeing the room. he had no more rooms to offer us and refused a refund or part-refund to us. The hotel reminded me of a poor man's Blackpool type stayover. Cheap cabaret, drunken pensioners and I feel sure the food would have been bad. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a clean room.
Review 97:nothing
Review 98:It was a shame the lift was out of order when we visited. It was a lot of stairs to climb for us at our age!
Review 99:The staff were brilliant and were very helpful Made us feel comfortable.
Review 100:i read some of the negative reviews, but we found this to be a very nice hotel . our room was a nice size clean and comfortable, the staff were lovely and the food was good. The hotel was full and we would go back.
Review 101:This was a late booking, but I was treated very well. The whole of the hotel was clean and this is very important to me. No frills and the overall costs were excellent. I would go again
Review 102:The building was appalling, it was dated and dirty. It needs a complete overhall including decoration, carpets, furnishings and curtains. It needs a thorough clean.
Review 103:Lacking Base board in bathroom. A bit of silicone around the tub would reduce leaking. Just a little bit maintenance would look much better.
Review 104:Friendly staff. Great location, walk to beach across the road, short walk to town. Park car on site nil cost. It's a lovely old building, think 'faulty towers'.
Review 105:decor needs up dateing
Review 106:loved the location across the road from the beach a nice easy walk to all the town / fun for the kids / all so nice and pecefull at night for when you need to get away from the busy night life witch i found very good when you have kids needing a good nights sleep. staff very friendly and happy to help
Review 107:Toilet been used on arrival in room. Socks on top of wardrobe. Stains on quilt cover. Pillows too flat very lumpy mattress. Cold breakfast. Milk on turn. No WIFI. Requested parking and sea view but got neither. If parking car then had to leave keys with reception which was not always manned so they could move car if blocking someone in. Very outdated needs re-decorating. DONT TRUST THE PICTURES ON WEBSITE.
Review 108:Staff friendly Great location Bar area with darts and pool table was nice and practice when returning for evening.
Review 109:The decor..Ours was small and in desperate need of a facelift. We would go back again but only if the hotel had had some serious money spent on upgrading the bedrooms into the 21st century. .
Review 110:After deciding to get to the coast for a couple of nights, I chose the Sea Princess as it wasn't expensive and the pictures on the web looked good. However, that wasn't our room. . Don't get me wrong, the bed was clean and comfortable and so were the toilet and shower, albeit very dated and in need of decoration. The bar area and restaurant were very clean and well maintained. The breakfast on both mornings was very nice! Choices of fruit, cereal and cooked breakfasts with tea, coffee and juices. We used this hotel as a base and it suited our needs well. Our stayed was made 100% better by staff members Andy and Troy, with whom, nothing was too much trouble and all whims catered for. They are a credit to the hotel...
Review 111:Lack of parking , poor condition of the hotel , poor breakfast , lack of entertainment that was stated took place 4 times a week .lack of the ability to have an evening meal at the hotel .
Review 112:The location of the hotel
Review 113:We could not pick up the free wifi in our bedroom on our Laptop, we had to sit downstairs to pick up the wifi from the reception area.
Review 114:The staff went out of their way, that made our stay a memorable one Very polite, and nothing was ever to much trouble.
Review 115:not suitable for disabled, very rude manager, did want to listen to the problems just wanted to get more people in, a\nd this hotel is very dirty mould in the shower, stains on the beds and blocked disabled access
Review 116:Parking arrangements are shambolic Room was cramped, bed not very comfortable, bathroom very tight Staffing inadequate at times
Review 117:Staff were very pleasant and helpful Location is excellent
Review 118:The note inside the room saying that any valuables stolen at owners risk. And a dodgy safe in wardrobe, and the rooms were really tired and dirty in places...plus the stairs smelt.
Review 119:You get for what you pay for, it was cheap and cheerful, would be fine, but felt my possessions were unsafe in the rooms. Especially when front door was left open by other guests and workers in the building. The Staff were friendly and I had a sea view.
Review 120:My booking stated I was disabled, I did not mind the 1st floor as there was a lift, but in the room was 2 steps to get into the toilet and shower. The door to toilet was very narrow I had to shuffle in sideways from the top step very dangerous.Very large window opened onto a roof as it was a single room I had to keep it shut at night as I felt vulnerable on my own.
Review 121:Breakfast was very good but scrambled egg was tasteless. Helpful staff.
Review 122:it could do with a good redecorate although everything we needed was on hand so that was good.
Review 123:We were given a balcony sea view and the breakfast was big and nicely cooked. The staff were very helpful and efficient and friendly and the hotel was close enough to the town and most amenities.
Review 124:Room poorly decor bed uncomfortable and lack of parking
Review 125:Manager was lovely brrakfast was lovely and the bar area and dining area were well looked after untill you went upstairs
Review 126:The 1st room were allocated was unsuitable due to 2 steps up to shower room. The 2nd room was disgusting damp with damp beds. the 3rd was ok. The manager treated some disabled guests with distain ad allegedly made discriminatory comments !!! Not a nice place to stay !!!!
Review 127:The location
Review 128:Had to climb on chest of drawers to tuck curtains over rails as half hanging off... Towl rail balanced on a fitting on one side & not screwed on and at one point water started dripping thru ceiling. Reported drips and was sorted out quickly.
Review 129:Man on reception really friendly and helpful. Other staff were approachable and amenable. Facilities at hotel enough for my needs and wifi was a reasonable speed. Really close to beach. Within walking distance of shopping centre and supermarket.
Review 130:basic breakfast, but nothing else to complain about:)
Review 131:Nice personal, free Wifi and pool billard, gentle bar keeper, free parking spaces, calm at night, clean room, beatiful view to the sea
Review 132:A young manager member of staff took over from the owner and demanded our car keys, and said that if we did not hand them over, we would be unable to stay or park there! He was very rude to us and spoilt my elderly fathers' stay. We had already paid for our 2 nights accommodation with free parking and had parked in the allotted space so could not see a problem with this. Also the shower leaked over the floor and was in poor condition and there was a hole in the ceiling where the rain comes in.
Review 133:The person on the reception on our arrival didn't explain very well about the car parking or lack of it. On our first morning he insisted on speaking to us like children. As I am 62 this didn't go down well!!! Not enough parking at all. The second thing that i didn't like was the Manager and Under Manager telling staff off for something in front of paying guests - very embarrassing for both them and us -not good customer service
Review 134:My sister and I had a twin room which was small and a little odd with a sink in the room with separate shower and toilet, but was clean, serviced very well, and for 3 nights quite good. Our waitress (at breakfast) was really good, she was attentive, and helpful. (Charmaine?)
Review 135:Parking is hit and miss with a chance of being blocked in. Shower either cold or scolding, no inbetween. Either 1 bath towel each and share a hand towel or a hand towel each and share a bath towel.
Review 136:Location close to shopping and entertainment. Quite nights, no rowdiness. Staff helpful and friendly.
