Reviews for The Old Cross Inn
Review 1:Pleasant,Very Friendly Staff,Comfortable,Spotless Room with En-Suite Bathroom..Well Priced..Lovely Full Scottish Breakfast..Good Lunch/Dinner Menu, Lovely Place !!!
Review 2:Only negative was that our room was rather cold and there was only one duvet! Everything else wonderful!
Review 3:Lovely people, beautiful location, superb food.
Review 4:Extremely comfortable, spotless room and bathroom. Excellent food in the restaurant. Room and restaurant very reasonably priced and service was warm and friendly. My stay at Old Cross Inn was perfect in every way.
Review 5:Travelled to The Old Cross Inn to attend a family wedding which was held 5 miles away. Couldn't falt the staff, rooms or food at the Inn - just perfect!!
Review 6:We were very, very wet after golf at Blairgowrie. The Staff welcomed us and put our very wet clothes into their dryer. We were most grateful as we were golfing the next day.
Review 7:I just thought it was a little expensive for what you got in terms of modern comfort and facilities.
Review 8:The location and the staff. Also, the fact that the rooms are right above the restaurant/bar.
Review 9:Car park a little on small side.
Review 10:Very friendly helpful staff, nothing to much trouble, Excellent food in resturant, good value for money, hopefully return in future.
Review 11:One minor thing, church clock chiming every hour through the night but think you would get used to it if you were staying for more than one night.
Review 12:Staff very helpful, excellent service, food amazing!
Review 13:We stayed two nights and had a very warm welcome. Our evening meals superb highly recommended, even if you don't stay the night. Beautiful breakfasts
Review 14:Wifi was hit and miss but is important for a business traveller. Room was at front of building so a little noisy with road traffic and church bells.
Review 15:Clean and comfortable, warm and friendly staff, great food!
Review 16:Pillows were poor and had us constantly turning them. That's the only negative.
Review 17:Friendly staff. Lovely bathroom. Breakfast was fab.room was a great size with all we needed.
Review 18:The hotel is in Rattray a good 20 minutes walk from Blairgowrie (no good in heels). For £85 per night it was overpriced. Breakfast stops at 9am and you have to give your time in advance. Basic selection of cereals, yoghurt and basket fruit. Cooked breakfast by request the night before.
Review 19:The bed was comfy (two singles pushed together). Car park available (however, some of which was used by the garage next door).
Review 20:One of the meals we had was a burger and it tasted and appeared to be a cheap, burger, not home-made. The carpet in the room was a bit dated and wasn't the cleanest - needs renewing not cleaning. The bathroom needed re-grouting it made the tiles look dirty.
Review 21:The breakfast was lovely and the staff were friendly. One of the meals we had on he night was delicious whilst the other left a lot to be desired.
Review 22:Excellent food and standard of accommodation. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Tea facilities in room had plenty of milk which was really appreciated. Room and bathroom, clean and finished to a high standard.
Review 23:Room a bit on cold side. Windows need replaced. Poor lighting in en suite. Only cosmetic faults.
Review 24:Very friendly staff, warm welcome. Good food. Comfortable bed. As the premises will change hands shortly there was a going away party for present owners to which we were invited.
Review 25:very enjoyable stay from the Friday night to the Sunday .Staff were very pleasant and helpful went out there way to get advice on a good walk on the Saturday .Eat there both nights well prepared and tasty pub grub ,room was very nice comfy bed very important for me .Will stay again if up that way
Review 26:The car parking is a little limited, but out with the control of the Old Cross.
Review 27:The staff were friendly and went out of their way to help. Didn't eat this time but stayed before and the food was 1st class. The rooms were clean & comfortable.
Review 28:The staff were so friendly and helpful prices were comparable with local pubs, meals were great good selection on the menu had a good time would come back
Review 29:Nothing that would stop me going there again. Breakfast starts at 7-30, I would not mind to have it half an hour earlier as I was going skiing every morning.
Review 30:Nice and clean room with free WiFi. We enjoyed staying in the Inn very much. The staff were very friendly. Nice pub dinners downstairs. Nice breakfast. Overall great value for money.
Review 31:I was travelling from Wick to Blairgowrie and experienced some of the worst winter weather on the A9 so was running late to get into the hotel in time for an evening meal. As it happens I called the hotel and spoke to Liam the owner, who was appreciative of my call and advised me of the meal times letting me set a deadline for getting there. In the end I was going to be much later than I thought and called Liam again to let him know and he immediately gave me a local weather report to help me manage my expectations of arriving ok once out of the worst of the weather plus said he'd ask the chef to plate me up a hot meal to heat up easily when I arrived - don't get that with the big chains. Eventually arrived, got fed and watered in the bar with a lamb casserole plus some great beer and a good old chat with one of the friendly locals. The room was big with plenty of extra mobile heating to help warm the room on a really freezing night. Had a good night's sleep and a smashing breakfast in the morning. Liam was a really good natural host and his wife, it turns out, was the chef - real family affair.
Review 32:Having worked in hospitality all my life I'm very difficult to please and it's been a long time since I have seen such consistent and good service better than some off the high class establishments I have stayed recently.
Review 33:The staff where very friendly, good choice on the menu and specials board, room and bathroom spacious and comfortable. excellent breakfast set me up for the day ahead
Review 34:Me and my wife were visiting friends in this area so we booked up here, the staff welcomed us & showed us to our room which doesn't happen many places now. They could not have been nicer & the service at the bar was great (even making up our favourite drinks which were not on the menu) Breakfast in the morning was good and made fresh which is always a plus. We were both very tender after our night out so the staff told us to sleep it off until 12 o clock instead of the 10am check out time. i will definitely be back here 10/10
Review 35:Owner friendly, interested, remembered conversations from previous visit! Couldn't have been more helpful, all you had to do was ask and it was done!
Review 36:We were made very welcome and given a choice of 2 rooms. We chose the double, and it was spotlessly clean, the shower was excellent and the whole experience was pleasant. The restaurant offered good food at reasonable prices. The breakfast was excellent.
Review 37:Closeness of road so traffic noise but ear plugs would sort that. Would not stop is returning
Review 38:Warmth and hospitality was brilliant and huge breakfast and plenty of variety
Review 39:Bed a little hard and been close to main road traffic noise was abit of a problem
Review 40:Hospitality was excellent. Evening staff couldn't do enough for us. Great breakfast set us up for the day!
Review 41:Didn't have my wife with me to make a wee jaunt of it, Unfortunately chasing down jobs mean you depart as quickly as you arrive...but WE will be back !
Review 42:Has to be, by far, The Best Hotel I have found on Booking.com, and that is across Europe, I own a small transport company, KCJ Flashtrans Ltd and literally do travel anywhere, Why pay the over inflated fees of Aberdeen when this beautiful Hotel is little short of an hour away from there. The staff were excellent, friendly & chatty...Food ! Wow ! highly recommend the Sirloin Steak, Rare as rare should be, massive homemade onion rings, absolute delicious ! The room and en-suite was equally on par with many 4/5* that I have been too but couple this with friendly Local Staff and Excellent home cooked style food, The Old Cross Inn far exceeds them, You got to be off your tree not to consider this and take time out to explore the area too, its just gorgeous...Well done guys, hope to be in your area again soon with another load.
Review 43:I was given a warm welcome when I arrived and shown to my room. The room was excellent value for money. I had a large kingsize bed with an ensuite bathroom for £40. Nicely decorated and very clean. The steak pie I had for supper was beautiful and obviously home cooked. I will definitely stay here again.
Review 44:No dislikes.
Review 45:2 day stay and impressed with every aspect of our visit. Staff and management were attentive to our every request. Room was a decent size and bed comfortable. The meals were excellent and good value for money. Breakfast was superb.
Review 46:We stayed in room 4, I could hear traffic no matter what time I woke up. The shower hose did not stay on the runner so you had to hold it to shower - not ideal!
Review 47:I liked the size of the room, the evening food and breakfast was excellent. The staff were excellent. The tea, coffee n biscuits were excellent. The towels smelled gorgeous, so was like being home from home. They supplied shampoo and shower gel. Face cloths and a large towel each. My daughter slept well all night. Supplied heaters as no central heating but didn't need it as was cosy enough.
Review 48:We arrived at the Old Cross Hotel at the designated time and were met by a member of staff who quickly signed us in and showed us to our room. We were pleasantly surprised by the size and character of the room and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Review 49:Nothing, although could have a slightly brighter light in the en suite bathroom as it was a bit dim in the evening.
Review 50:Staff were all very helpful, especially the owners of this delightful Inn. Meals were good with an excellent breakfast. The room was spacious and clean and the beds extremely comfortable. Lovely room and bathroom and a very handy location.
Review 51:Tricky off road parking, for estate car. Beside a busy road, although traffic mainly early morning. No bath, shower only
Review 52:Stayed at old cross recently, very helpful staff, very clean and good location for golf courses
Review 53:Excellent food, lovely welcome, clean, comfortable rooms. Staff friendly and efficient. Relaxing location in the heart of rolling Perthshire countryside. Will definitely be back
Review 54:Shower difficult to adjust. Not sure how quiet room would have been if road outside had not been closed for roadworks from 6pm.
Review 55:Big room and friendly staff. Good plan food.
Review 56:It doesn't look inviting from the outside but don't be put off.
Review 57:Friendly staff. lovely modern room. parking. Working wi-fi. Good food in the pub and good food for breakfast. Good value.

Review 65:The inn was attractive and the rooms were large and comfortable. The lunch we had was very good and reasonably priced. I had a very good night's sleep and a well-cooked breakfast the following morning.
Review 66:The friendly staff and the relaxed atmosphere. The menu choice and the quality of food. The room and ensuite were spacious compared to many. Easy to find and parking at the door.
Review 67:Owner was great, reserved a table for supper for us prior to our arrival in anticipation that we may need a place to eat, otherwise it would have been an hour wait. Food was great and also was the included breakfast.
Review 68:Check that no functions are also on if it's the weekend as this disrupts the sleep.being an inn it has music downstairs.
Review 69:Had a great time, food was excellent. Had a function in the inn as we stayed during a fri night which we were invited too and enjoyed ourselves. Did finish quite late which can be an issue if u wanted a quiet night.
Review 70:5 pm check in is too late and phone arrangements seemed somewhat unprofessional even if understandable for a small operation. It is fair to say that the public areas would benefit from some upgrading
Review 71:Bedrooms are spacious and well appointed. Showerroom was modern These areas were very clean Breakfast was very good We did not have dinner as we had another arrangement
Review 72:Nothing.
Review 73:The Old Cross was ideal for my purpose. I went to Blairgowrie to take part in the Cateran Yomp, a long-distance walk in aid of ABF the Soldiers' Charity, so what I needed was a comfortable bed, en suite bathroom, good food, and peace and quiet to recover from 36 miles on foot in one day! I got all that, together with ample car parking and service which was both friendly and quietly efficient. I'm already planning for the Yomp next year, and will choose the Old Cross again.
Review 74:We liked the cleanliness and friendly staff , the room had all you would need for a short or longer stay.
