Reviews for smartline Neptuno Beach
Review 1:Limited choice and low quality of fruits, almost no sea food in the hotel restaurant. The safe in rooms locked with keys - ridiculous! Only one real pool of medium size.
Review 2:Quiet location, sandy beach, very friendly and helpful staff, not far from the airport and Heraklion, spacious rooms.
Review 3:Condition of the room was nothing but terrible. Bed, furniture and bathroom looked like 20-years old. Conditioning system must be same age as myself, dirty and even hotel manager had to admit same. Disgusting smell. Spending a night in this place feels like staying in jail or hospital (though some European jails are more comfortable and u don't need to pay €150 a night). Surrounding area also didn't look nice - sometimes it's abandoned houses with graffiti on top of broken windows. Had to leave this place after one night in spite of non-refundable 5 nights prepayment. Totally not compliant with the claimed 4 stars hotel and with €150/night we wasted on it.
Review 4:Beach area is nice, good animation team, staff was friendly and sometimes helpful
Review 5:everything was great! and this was our second trip!
Review 6:The staff make you feel welcome as soon as you arrive, it is an all inclusive but the food does not seem as though it has been cooked on mass, the food is amazing and all meals has something for everyone. Option for beach or pool and plenty of sunbeds! the entertainment staff are excellent.
Review 7:Food was really simple as for the 4* hotel.. Not big choice and no local specialities. Rooms oldish. Stuff in the reception not friendly and not welcoming.
Review 8:Nice hotel beach, good localisation near all the shops, restaurants etc.
Review 9:Loudspeakers for animation could be better and stereo. One loudspeaker? Common guys! 21 century! Besides that Crete is very dirty when you go outside of the hotel.
Review 10:Staff is very helpful. We traveled with kids 2 small kids, and the lady at reception upgraded a room to bigger family room! The food is very good! Meet, fish, salads, desserts. National Greek food. The beer when it is fresh is also not bad. The sea can be very windy/wavy.
Review 11:WiFi was hideous - most of the time it was impossible to connect and it took forever to load the pages. Paid WiFi was also not better - limited range and streaming was impossible.
Review 12:Staff was very friendly and food was good with a fair amount of variety.
Review 13:Drinks - low quality / local only - e.g. 'orange juice' tasted like some cheap, yellow, artificial flavor drink from powder. Did not try any alcoholic ones apart from one sip of wine which tasted alright. Other guests seemed to be indulging it during lunches and dinners Food - average quality and quite limited / repetitive selection - e.g. no sea food during our stay, overly dry grilled or cooked frozen fish and general lack of imagination when creating dishes (e.g. offered parboiled rice with sausage). Definitely not a gastronomic experience but not revolting either Entertainment - limited / low quality, noticed other hotels offer aerobics / spinning, yoga etc. but not much in this hotel. The pool was very pleasant though, good size and great temperature later in the day WiFi - no free internet in rooms, paid WiFi (€5/24hrs, €15/wk) good speed though. Stretches to the beach too
Review 14:Location - good although not exceptional, seemed much livelier in the western part of the beach - not the hotel's fault though, there is more, larger hotels there so more business for restaurants / shops. The beach is of similar quality (coarse sand / tiny pebbles) across the whole stretch apart from the very end on the western side where there it is more / larger pebbles. Had no sea urchin encounter and did not see anyone else have one Room - had a great view (paid extra for side sea and got extra lucky) but beware that the furniture is tired and at least our bathroom was very musty even if we kept it open all day (made the room smell musty!). There was hardly any storage space - no shelves in the wardrobe, no hooks for your wet swimwear etc. which the hotel should try to address. The guest should not feel forced to live out of the suitcase when trying to relax on a holiday. Also, the bed was HARD, could not sleep without a pillow as I normally do Service - the reception staff was super nice, room cleaning 6 days a week without any issues Overall - feels like the hotel is facing strong competition on the same beach and is lacking investment in making things better. Trying alright though if you are not too spoiled - we might well be
Review 15:the entertainment team could have done a better job.
Review 16:the staff is extremely friendly and the chef was very accomodating and was able to fulfill our requests.
Review 17:-Couldn't fill up water bottles from the water machine in the food area (absolutely ridiculous) -Food was literally atrocious -No free WiFi in the rooms -Terrible cell phone reception in the rooms
Review 18:-Free WiFi in the lobby -Great front desk employees -Right on the beach -Good view from breakfast/eating areas
Review 19:Welcoming and friendly Staff Great Location on Beach Great food Cretan Wine - not bad at all 10 Mins from airport but no disturbance from flights while on beach - sufficiently far away to be almost un-noticeable
Review 20:There is no free Wifi in the rooms, only n the lobby
Review 21:The service at the hotel was perfect, Dina receptionist was the nicest in the world. One day we came back late because there was a problem with the cruise we took and missed the hour of dinner, Dina kept us food from the meal, even though it was really late. On the last day our flight was very early and we could not wait for breakfast, but they opened it earlier to prevent us of becomingthe hungry. The food is good and there are plenty, amazing beach and the pool is cold but fun. It is convenient to get to the hotel from the airport and from Harklion- line 6 Highly recommended
Review 22:If the weather is bad minidisco is close. So childrens do not know what to do. Breakfast must includ warm porridge/cereal. The weather in october is not very cjmfortable. Windy, smtms very cold. 27/09/14 - 10/10/14
Review 23:1.Sea 2.Beach 3.All meals 4.Rooms and sea view at 2-3 floor
Review 24:Located right next to the beach, in addition providing a swimming pool for both adults and children - that's more than enough for getting the most of your leisure. Animation team surely knows how to entertain - they were offering plenty of activities where everyone had a lot of fun. Staff is friendly, food - delicious and various. In brief - an outstanding experience we'd love to have again.
Review 25:I was hurt by sea urchins the first day on the sea. Be aware and stay away from the rocks where those beats are mainly inhabiting. These rocks is the biggest disadvantage of the place. Not a place for long-distance swimmers (like myself). The rocks are about 15 meters from the coast and continue along the whole coastline. And if you want to swim after the rocks, the safeguards won't let you. Very scarce variety of fruits, perhaps only one good watermelon during the week. Not many children this time of a year hence no children or junior animation.
Review 26:Spent 1 week there with my 10-year old son. A good value for money hotel for those who need sun, sea and relaxation. Decent variety and quality of food. The best thing is the staff - all very friendly, helpful and efficient!
Review 27:Our family room was big and nice inside, but the balcony was reallyproblematic: tiny (really tiny), having no clothes horse and a hugeterrace right in front (so while a room with a sea view, the view wasnot good at all...) Having two small kids, we faced the followingsituation: the two balcony chairs were always covered with wet swimmingsuits (to get dry) and the towels were hanging over the balcony'swall. So we had no place to sit, and, since Crete is quite windy inJuly, the towels were always falling in the dirty terrace right infront... Anyway, not all family rooms' balconies are like that, soyou should just be careful regarding the room you actually book -I'd say contact the hotel prior booking. And a strange thing: balcony lights aren't controlled by you! There is no switch in the room! They close automatically at 23.00 - hotel's policy! So you just can't turn them off before that time! Laundry service works on SOME days, towel rental service on SOME days also. Room cleaning isn't performed on Sundays, and the animateurs have a day off on Mondays. While none of them is a real problem, I really didn't like that I had to think "What day is it today?" in order to figure out what services would be available each day. Finally, the playground is really poor.
Review 28:Buffet and snacks were very good, staff is great and so very helpful(especially at the restaurant) which is actually the main strong pointof this hotel! Hotel is right over the beach, the animateur is very goodwith the kids - kids really enjoyed the mini disco time

Review 47:The cleanliness of the room and coctails in the pool bar.
Review 48:Food was quite good and cleanliness of the pool, yard and restaurant was excellent.
Review 49:Towels not change every day and don't have champoo in the room
Review 50:Location , hotel, beach , food, staff very friendly
Review 51:Friendly and helpful staff members, tasty and various food, quiet place, cleanliness, just few steps to the beach - everything was just perfect. We have already reccommended this hotel to our friends and we hope to go there again this year.
Review 52:All Staff very friendly and accomodating. Beach on doorstep and very large pool. Great selection of food for all meals. Can easily stay on sight for the entire day. Easy access to bus into town.
Review 53:The cocktails from the pool bar were all a mixture of grenadine, and blue liquer + (Raki, Ouzo,Rum, Vodka). Which left you with the same colored cocktail. A bit like a signature but also gets boring .The animation team is rubbish, so is the DJ team that works there at night ( which are the same 2 people), there is no attempt to entertain the adults after dinner - which leaves guests listening to children songs for the 3-5 kids who are still awake , and a sea of adults sitting around the pool bar waiting for some action to take place. The music is absolutely god awful and yet they take so much time posing with the DJ equipment, when they obviously spent no time during the day in planning their task. They could have easily bought mixed cd's or streamed Grooveshark and made an attempt to do their jobs better. I think this is solely a problem of the animation team. The bath tub was clogged, and water remained after showers for up to 10 minutes sometimes. The food was hit or miss, there are specials ( better prepared) meals laid out close to the chef stand, however- the main course area was a total hit or miss, I guess depending on which chef cooked which bowl. The recipes for these meals were ridiculous . Most ridiculous meal I put my fork into was a baked eggplant that looked like it was covered in cheese, but ended up being covered in spaghetti ( who does that with left over spaghetti?) . I think the chefs are better than this, since they cooked wonderfully sometimes, so simple quality control might help make sure they don't have guests completely turned off by the food. We could see people driven to eat just chips sometimes. The deserts are cheap jelly, jelly and mousse filled cakes, which was rather sad, repetitive and unoriginal for an all inclusive stay. Looks like they outsource it, but once again a bit of quality control could get them more value for whatever the hotel pays for this .
Review 54:Like most other reviews, yes the staff were amazingly attentive. Everyone looks like they love their jobs. The hotel beach is perfect, can't fault it, clean waters. The room was efficiently cleaned everyday, We added a note that we were on our honeymoon, and they decorated our bed with rose petals etc for free, and checked us in early at 10 am according to our note. Food - my husband loved the salad spreads, I loved the bread table, the baked goods at breakfast looked gluten free but packaged and did not taste like standard croissants etc , but it was ok.
Review 55:Free WiFi worked very very bad, sometimes didn't worked at all.
Review 56:Good location, wonderful beach
