Reviews for The William Caxton

Review 1:No parking information : which is Limited in front of the Inn but possible if Reception was warned of overnight need,to reserve a space ?

Review 2:Comfy bed, good room facilities, excellent cooked breakfast and cheerful and helpful staff. Wonderful open fire.

Review 3:Room a little cramped and traffic noise very evident, but overall was pleased with what was offered for a reasonable price

Review 4:Very good location for my trip and staff very helpful and friendly

Review 5:On the main high street that can get busy and as an old property, windows not double glazed so some street noise. Parking can be a problem - limited spaces, difficult to get off pavement and close to a road junction.

Review 6:Excellent location for exploring this part of Kent. Rooms basic but well maintained - comfortable bed, hot shower, clean room and decent breakfast. Ideal for a short stay. Quiet considering it's above a pub.

Review 7:It was hard for our relative to park out front to drop us off with such a shallow car space.

Review 8:It was clean, welcoming with a cosy atmosphere and a sense of history and easy access to the main town centre. Our "in house" meal was fresh and tasty With the need to check out early for a train connection the management got up early to give us hot toast and drinks!

Review 9:Weren't many people eating meals in there so decided not to ourselves tho breakfast was nice

Review 10:Clean room , good shower, great location and quiet even tho over pub and on main road- wasn't much traffic through the town during the night (sat)

Review 11:The parking is a bit tricky to get in and out and being quite close to road I was aware of the early morning traffic. I am a light sleeper though!! But otherwise I enjoyed my stay

Review 12:It is on what seems like a main road, so there was some early morning traffic, which was a little noisy.

Review 13:The landlady was brilliant, an excellent welcome, and provided wheat free bread for breakfast. Room set up with great care, and equally well made up for second night.

Review 14:the road noise, but ear plugs were available in the room

Review 15:the friendly staff at the caxton, always available to assist and very informative a and it nearness to our wine experience at chapel down

Review 16:no proper mirror for dressing or doing makeup/hair, insufficient towels, no bath mat. decoration requires some review, with some areas incomplete or requiring attention

Review 17:breakfast, large bathroom, comfortable bed

Review 18:We differed over bed comfort, between comfortable and uncomfortable. Parking was limited. They had an on line Restaurant menu that looked very good. But only a simple bar menu was available.

Review 19:Friendly staff, and a good location for a visit to Tenterden. But the room was a bit compact.

Review 20:Parking is tricky but not insurmountable.

Review 21:Absolutely charming. Great location, friendly staff. Dinner in the bar was of a high standard as was breakfast. (Don't be put off by the reviews complaining about the stairs, yes they are steep but there are only about 12 steps) Perfect location for the Kent and East Sussex Railway

Review 22:There was no bad experience but it is difficult to park and being sited right on the traffic lights makes it harder. However that's not their fault!

Review 23:The staff, service and accommodation were all excellent.

Review 24:So surprised great pub friendly locals. Comfy and clean room. I had a great tasty dinner and my breakfast was as I wanted it. When in the area will stay there again without question.Great

Review 25:The traffic noise outside, but it didn't disturb my sleep. Parking on my second night was difficult due to somebody taking all of the space.

Review 26:A comfortable and friendly place to stay, very good value.

Review 27:Staff were fantastic from the moment we arrived and this continued throughout our stay, only positives all round for this delightful hotel.breakfast was superb.

Review 28:The host was very welcoming on arrival, and very helpful when needed. The room and the facilities were great too. Clean and comfy, so I couldn't of asked for much more really. Value for money. :)

Review 29:Difficult external access to bedrooms.rear bedroom over kitchen extractor fan very noisy all night hardly slept. Not worth 90pounds

Review 30:Easy reach of town center, friendly staff.

Review 31:We really enjoyed our stay at the William Caxton. We were in town for a friend's wedding and the lady we met there was friendly and very helpful. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious and huge!

Review 32:Unfortunately there was a problem with 2 different noises - a low hum from the refrigeration unit in the cellar, which wasn't too bad, but also a very loud noise whenever a loo was flushed or a tap was turned on in any of the 3 bedrooms. If this had been explained in advance it would have been OK, but as everyone was preparing for bed at around the same time, the noise kept coming on and we had no idea what the cause was and whether or not it would continue all night. So eventually my partner got up and dressed and went down to the bar to make enquiries. Our room was up a very steep, narrow staircase and was quite small considering it was the best room in the house, and the bed was not very comfortable. However the bathroom was fabulous. Unfortunately we didn't think it was worth anywhere near the price tag, especially as we stayed in an executive kingsize room in a Holiday Inn the next night for less.

Review 33:Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 34:noisy fan outside window no full length mirror mould on windows temperature of shower hard to adjust

Review 35:comfortable bed nice bathroom good breakfast

Review 36:Parking can be an issue but if ear lying parking on front can be used . I would have liked a bit more choice at breakfast.

Review 37:The friendliness of the staff a good warm welcome on arrival . pleasant atmosphere with staff and local customers in the bar very good food for evening dinner and choice all freshly cooked. Breakfast was good also although had to wait a little while . would definitely stay again when in the location and recommend.

Review 38:None

Review 39:Great having a friendly Pub to come back to after day out. Very good breakfast, friendly owners & staff. Tenterden is a lovely part of the general area.

Review 40:TV a bit on the small side but not in the room much anyway. Room a bit chilly on arrival but soon warmed up when the heating came on.

Review 41:Good location for walking into town and car trips to other locations. Lovely breakfast and comfortable clean room.

Review 42:Traffic noise early in morning. Bedroom was overlooking the main street.

Review 43:Very nice room with comfortable bed. Great shower. Excellent w-fi and good work-space. Very good breakfast also. Very friendly and attentive staff.

Review 44:A little tired around the entrance to the rooms and inside the rooms need a little TLC. Need an outside light. My partner fell over a railway sleeper/planter when we can home in the dark

Review 45:Breakfast was fantastic. Shower was good

Review 46:Am a light sleeper and the traffic woke me early. A long mirror would be good and a brighter light to apply make up

Review 47:Overall a friendly, comfortable and enjoyable stay - would recommend

Review 48:Parking is a bit limited, but that can't really be helped.

Review 49:A charming Shepherd Neame pub with some rooms above. From the food to the draught real beers, the William Caxton was a terrific find. The room was comfortable and clean and an excellent breakfast in the morning concluded a thoroughly satisfying stay. The staff were friendly and welcoming and, despite my arriving on a Wednesday evening, the place seemed well attended by the locals.

Review 50:Pub is on a traffic light controlled junction the front bedroom is a bit noisey earplugs are provided but we didnt use them, we stayed 3 nights and sleep got better each night, don't let this put you off, the staff, food and town are all great, would stay again

Review 51:Location was ideal for visiting National Trust places in the area, staff and food all good

Review 52:Lack of car parking is a minor inconvenience.

Review 53:Cosy, comfortable room with good breakfast..excellent value for money. Good range of beers and wines; very good dinner menu in comfortable bar.

Review 54:Not that clean in places, next to no parking. Traffic noise from the main road a major issue !!! especially when its hot and you need the window open.

Review 55:The staff and food were superb, the location was spot on. A period old pub with a warm friendly atmosphere.

Review 56:We didn't have a problem with the location but the lack of on-site parking was a little disappointing. There were only four spaces available on a first come, first served basis. Otherwise there was nothing we didn't like.

Review 57:The friendliness of the staff. The en-suite room was absolutely lovely. The breakfast was filling but needed another choice of fruit choice to be available, say Pineapple or Grapefruit. The age of the Pub made our trip.

Review 58:Room (Number 2) was very hot given that it has a boiler in the room. This probably wouldnt be an issue in winter.
