Reviews for The Florida Guest House
Review 1:I suggest that Tim states "no stag/hen parties and similar". one night some guests did a lot of door banging-I guess they had a few too many and an early start for me was spoied-tootired!
Review 2:Great cooking and food quality; nice lounge;helpful staff; great value-small but perfectly formed single room.
Review 3:Be mindful of the yellow button that you need to press on the parking meter if you are parking overnight at the car park at the end of the street.
Review 4:Tim the owner was very friendly and helpful. Staff also very friendly and polite. The service and food at breakfast was excellent. We only stayed for two days but would return. Overall very pleasant stay.
Review 5:Internet very patchy despite efforts by our host. Seems a problem for the telecoms company, rather than the guest house management. Someone was sucking up bandwidth big-time.
Review 6:All necessary mod. cons. + ample breakfast + v. helpful host, Tim, made this excellent value for money.
Review 7:Small TV in room
Review 8:Liked Tim the Landlord, very friendly, went out of his way to help us. As both smokers, loved that we had a side door to outside to enjoy a cigarette on our holiday. Breakfast was brilliant
Review 9:The owners are very nice and friendly hosts. Rooms were clean and the shower was very spacious! The breakfast was delicious and we would definitely stay again.
Review 10:A warm welcome and comfortable room and wonderful breakfast and a very pleasant stay would recommend other people to stay would definitely stay again
Review 11:The single room is extremely small (just big enough to bring a medium sized luggge). Shared shower is also extremely small with bad water pressure and a slanted roof. Practically no wifi on the single room on the top floor.
Review 12:Friendly owner, not noisy at night, very close to the center of paignton.
Review 13:Nothing, everything was great, you only had to ask if you wanted something but everything was provided for so we didn't need to, there was even a hairdryer in the bedroom.
Review 14:Everything, the hosts were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us and they are great with children. The breakfast was excellent every day. The towels were lovely and fresh smelling and the rooms had everything you needed in them, very good all round, even the living room was great and you could use anytime day/night.
Review 15:There was nothing to dislike it was a lovely break
Review 16:I am 52 and my friend is 38, We wanted economic accommodation that was clean and close to the beach with parking. The Florida ticked all our boxes and more. Tim the owner was friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for us. TV and Coffee/tea and biscuits. Nicely laid out towels withba welcome chocolate each and breakfasts were excellent. Close to the beach and walking distance from Paignton shops. There was always plenty of space to park and theres a huge pay carpark at the end of the road. We will certainly be returning when we next visit Devon.
Review 17:Nothing to dislike.
Review 18:A lovely Guest House not too far from the beach and a brisk walk from the Town. Nothing was too much trouble for Tim or his Staff.
Review 19:Very cold it was cold and raining outside,no heating on. Very small towels which were not refreshed and wouldn't dry cos no heating .
Review 20:Good breakfast
Review 21:The only minus of this guesthouse is pretty small shower, but if you're comming only for few days it's not so big deal. Or you can choose a room with ensuited shower.
Review 22:The staff was very nice there, the room although small was very comfy with perfect bed. We enjoyed our three days in The Florida uest house and would like to come back again.
Review 23:none
Review 24:had a lovely stay room was clean . close to the beach and town .Tim are host was friendly also there a nice breakfast to get you started for the day :)
Review 25:The most helpful and friendly staff I've ever encountered. I was traveling with my 8 and 10 year old sons, and they were made to feel extremely welcome. They loved every second!!
Review 26:It is in an excellent location to everywhere. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean, tidy, comfy and defiantly value for money. You can come and go as you please which helped as we were down for a wedding and didn't get in until late.
Review 27:I asked for a room with easy access as my husband is disabled. We were given a ground floor room with an outside door and a beautiful patio. It made our stay SO much easier.
Review 28:Sadly the bed we had was a complete let down :( it was almost the sensation of a water bed in all the wrong ways. I actually slept better on the floor than on the bed in the end. Would have been fine for a single person but a couple big nono! Major shame as everything else was lovely and the price was brilliant.
Review 29:People were lovely, location is awesome as it is only about 2 minutes from the beach front, facilities were adequate.
Review 30:Stayed here for a long weekend as my grandad lives on the next road. Tim and the girls that work for him could not do enough for us. They were fantastc and the breakfast was gorgeous. So good i asked for extra bacon..which i was given. I would recommend this b and b to anyone staying in paington. It is also literally a stones throw from the beach which is excellent.
Review 31:Nothing
Review 32:Location was great. It was a really clean and lovely place to stay. Tim the owner was brilliant and happy to help with anything. Breakfast was really nice and Tim would accomodate when asking for variations on breakfast.
Review 33:Nothing really, but wasn't told about the wifi
Review 34:Location near to shops and beach very good. Room very functional and bed comfortable (room 1) friendly staff. A lot of helpful local information.
Review 35:Nothing to be critical of .
Review 36:Everything about the Florida i liked Tim is fantastic as are the girls that work with him they make a great team. The breakfasts have to be seen to believed and the cleanliness is 100% overall I'd give it 11/10.
Review 37:Nothing.
Review 38:As far as staying in Paignton - it was a great locationTim and his staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. There was a lot of attention to detail eg small shampoos etc. Breakfast was great. Nothing too much trouble.
Review 39:Leaving car key when double parked.
Review 40:Good location not too far from town centre and ammenities very short walk to beach and parking for 5 car max. Breakfast great cooked to order cleanliness great
Review 41:Could only get wifi from main guest lounge.
Review 42:The smell of the room was very clean and smelled of vanilla. The room was big with a walk in wardrobe and a garden patio and clean bathroom. The price was the cheapest I've ever seen!
Review 43:How could you not like anything about this guest house.
Review 44:Very helpful and professional, clean, tidy and very central to all amenities (only 10 min walk either side to all shops and restaurants). Highly recommended and will be staying again. Total value for money.
Review 45:owner went out of his way to make sure we had parking space room just what we required had no breakfast included in original price but added on arrival
Review 46:As it was a chilly week end as mature couple a bit of warmth would have been nice, but really the last day in may you do not expect it to be quite so cold.
Review 47:Very clean, very comfy, excellent breakfast.
Review 48:we liked everything about the florida guest house
Review 49:.....................................................................................we liked tim because he makes you ......................................................................................................................................................................................................................... tim he made us feel like part of the family.he is a great man ............................................................................................................................................................pa....e..........
Review 50:Only one thing was rather disappointing... - WiFi No access or what so ever (even in the communal areas. Sorry Tim, you need to think about better WiFi provider.
Review 51:We found this little B&B through Booking.com and must admit price was the main factor, we booked there. We didn't expect much, but "oh my" how wrong we were. Place managed by extremely nice gentleman, clean quiet, warm, bright and airy.Close to everything what you would like to see or do (and i mean close, as i am not driving)Breakfast phenomenal. We will go back for short break for sure!!
Review 52:Shower :( needs more pressure. Not doing shared facilities again, please make all rooms en-suite. Breakfast - was missing fruit/yoghurt/granary bread as options - didn't upset my stay though too much. Noise - if you are a light sleeper then bring ear plugs as you'll hear trampling elephants going up and down the stairs when folks leave earlier in the morning - maybe a sign downstairs/back of room room doors to remind folks to consider other guests.
Review 53:First visit for me this May Bank holiday week-end to Paignton with a stay at the Florida guest house. Booked originally for myself (single room) and ended bringing 4 other friends to stay also; not all in the same room :) Tim made us feel very welcome. We liked the living room set up downstairs as you don't feel you have to hide in your room or feel expelled from the house during the day :) As a smoker, like the rule that no smoking allowed in rooms/out of window as I cannot stand the smell of stale smoke indoors either. The cooked breakfast was lovely and there is cereal option available too.
Review 54:The rooms were comfy and well presented . The break fast was one of nicest weve had and Tim is not just the owner but a good host whose there to help.
Review 55:The shower wasnt very powerful but it was still able to use.
Review 56:The bed was the comfiest bed I have ever stayed in. Very clean. If you have any problems you feel comfortable asking.
Review 57:The breakfast was really good, especially the scrambled egg. Our room was lovely with a door leading straight out onto the side of b&ab. Owner Tim was a really great host. Location was ideal and only a short walking distance from pier
Review 58:Having stayed at the Florida quite a few times now we can certainly say that it is a brilliant place to stay;the place is spotless, the beds are very comfy, we have never had any problems & if we did Tim the host would fix it because nothing is too much trouble; even sharing his car mechanic when we needed it last year! Oh, and his breakfast is A1. Tim you've done a brilliant job again! We didn't want to leave & will be back again very soon. Deb & Tim.
Review 59:Arrived and had a lovely warm welcome from Tim.room was lovely and clean, bright and spacious nice and comfy.full English every morning which was fantastic. Arrived as strangers left as friends,100% recommended look forward to staying again. Thanks Tim
Review 60:Needed black out curtains
Review 61:I liked that it was close to everything we needed, the hotel was clean and spacious the bed was comfortable and we had a brilliant service would definitely stay here again
Review 62:You can hear other guests in rooms close by talking about their day to day activities.
Review 63:It was a lovely location and the staff were really helpful about all the activities on in the area. The room was small but good for the two of us to stay,
Review 64:only small point but tv could be bigger buts that's just being picky.
Review 65:friendly host. good home cooked full English breakfast. good clean room with plentiful tea and coffee.even got a reasonable friendly pub on corner.
Review 66:The toilet took a few goes to flush properly.
Review 67:This place is a little Gem. The owner is a cracker of a fella who makes you feel right at home. The bedroom was snug with that homely feeling. The Full English Breakfast was excellently cooked and was very filling. Would happily stay here again.
Review 68:Well what can we say - we have stayed at the Florida about 4 or 5 times now and will keep going back. Excellent standards as usual, we felt very welcome, comfortable and could come and go as we pleased which was so convenient. Tim's breakfast is something not to be missed! We'll be back soon - Tim & Deb
Review 69:This is a great place to stay, Tim was fab and more than helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was the best. Will definitely be returning :)
Review 70:Nothing to complain about apart from the rain on the Friday night - but we can't do anything about that!!
Review 71:The room we had was ideal.Clean, comfortable and perfect for our needs. We even had a side view of the sea at the end of the road. Breakfast was superb and our stay was very enjoyable. Our hosts were very friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome.
Review 72:Nothing not to like!! Will pick here everytime!!
Review 73:Fantastic place!!! We stayed here for the second year in a row and did not want to leave!!! Tim is a brilliant host nothing is to much trouble. The rooms are bright clean and comfortable. The breakfasts are huge and the teapots are bottomless!
Review 74:Made very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Everything you needed in the room and very comfortable. Excellent cooked breakfast which filled you up for the rest of the day!
Review 75:I chose a single room with shared facilities, which was great, but if I was a larger person I might have found the doorway to the bathroom/shower a bit of a squeeze.
Review 76:Location close to Preston beach. Friendly staff. Good full english breakfast Room clean with complimentary tea/coffee/hot chocolate, and biscuits. Eating places close by. I only stayed one night, but if I could, I would have stayed longer and used Florida as a sightseeing base.
Review 77:The hotel is situated only yards from Preston SAnds and also just a 1o minute walk to the town .The main beach with its pier is close by.A fabulous location. The owners have pulled out all the stops to make for a pleasant and comfortable stay.Definately a place to return to .The breakfast is heaven on a plate. All fresh ingredients locally sourced and will set you up for the day.
Review 78:Would have liked a bedside table and for breakfast to be available a little later than 9am at the weekend
Review 79:Great hosts, clean room and lovely breakfast.
Review 80:The room was small for a double, not much room to get around each other, it was ok for the one night that we were there but would have found it a bit of a sqeeze for a longer stay. There wasn't much room to put luggage.
Review 81:The room was very clean, the shower was hot. The location was good, the owner was pleasant and helpful. The price was good but didn't include breakfast so I can't comment on that.Rooms nicely decorated.
Review 82:I stayed at this excellent guest house with my daughter for the weekend. Tim & Pauline are the perfect hosts and nothing was to much effort for them. The room was clean and tidy and the complimentary chocolate on the bed was quickly eaten by my daughter, breakafast was freshly cooked, we will definitely be staying here again in the near future when we visit the area.
Review 83:Liked everything about this place, very nice people who own/run the establishment & cannot do enough for the visitors. Our room was the double which was more than adequate for our stay. Breakfast was very nice & filling. What more can i say, only that if we are in that region again this is the place we will be staying. For sure.
Review 84:Pauline and Tim were really good hosts. The breakfast was fantastic and my friend and I stayed in the ground floor room, which was very quiet and really good for people with mobility problems. Tim has done a fantastic job with the gardens and the hanging baskets are beautiful. A lovely relaxing stay.
Review 85:It was a little too hot during the night, might be a problem when the weather is really warm.
Review 86:The room which we had was at the second floor, it was quiet and comfy. Clean sheets and towels, lovely room. The breakfast was great and the lady owner very lovely.
Review 87:nothing.
Review 88:Very clean, friendly, well ran, excellent location, very near the sea front but situated in a nice quiet street, with a public car park, bars restaurants near by. rooms serviced daily. An excellent full English breakfast or a wide choice of other breakfasts. About 15 minutes walk to train station. A good base to explore this beautiful part of Devon.
Review 89:Stayed here for a few days away, room was clean and well presented everything we wanted. The breakfast was excellent and service spot on will be staying here again.
Review 90:Pauline & Tim were great hosts, spotless accommodation, excellent breakfast, could not fault anything, little touches like toiletries even a tea towel to dry coffee cups, not always found in 4 star hotels, would recommend.
Review 91:A little dated but didn't 't detract
Review 92:Last minute booking but very glad we did, nice welcome and comfortable room. Would definitely stay again if in area
Review 93:Everything was excellent!
Review 94:Everything about our stay was excellent from the cleanliness of the room, which was second to none, to the Food which was really excellent and plentiful, our stay was made to be fault free by the lovely owners who were extremely kind and helpful, perfect location and we would definitely stay at the Florida again, absolutely first class! 10/10. We will recommend this Hotel to Friends and Family really wonderful and professionally run!
Review 95:The bed was too small supposedly a double. I'm 5ft 1 and my legs were dangling out of bed. Also the TV was poorly positioned on a table so you couldn't view it anywhere but sitting directly in front at the end of the bed
Review 96:It was cheap and not too far from everything.
Review 97:We didn't like our room as we weren't aware that we were getting a single room with a double bed in it.The room was too small for two people and the wardrobe smelt of dampness. The biggest disappointment was that our toilet or shower didn't have a sink to wash our hands once we had done our business, we had to go back to our room to wash our hands. We were using the same sink to wash our drinking cups and spoons for tea/coffee.Talk about spreading germs from one place to another I don't know how the authorities haven't picked up something as big as that.
Review 98:The hospitality was outstanding, warm and welcoming. The breakfast was always served to a high standard. The couple running the guest house were very nice.
Review 99:The way we were made to feel welcome, Pauline and Tim were really friendly people. Breakfast was beautiful and there was plenty to choose from. We would highly recommend to family and friends.
Review 100:Although location is good parking is an issue there is a car park but on weekdays theres a £8-10 charge overnight which it doesn't mention anywhere.
Review 101:This was a great little place friendly staff very clean rooms and good value for money would not hesitate to use them again
Review 102:There is absolutely nothing to dislike.
Review 103:This B&B is absolutely beautiful the people who run it are so lovely and you want for nothing. Very close to Paignton beach and green but very quiet and the breakfast (especially the mushrooms the taste like we've never tasted so good before) is amazing. We will definitely try to book here again 1st when we go to Paignton.
Review 104:Nothing at all.
Review 105:Excellent hosts. Standard of room was exceptional, loved the beautiful flowers all round the guest house. The breakfast was to die for, very tasty.
Review 106:No complaints whatsoever.
Review 107:Nothing was too much trouble, very approachable and helpful. Our room was lovely and it was obvious from the abundance of attractive hanging baskets to the excellent breakfast that Tim and Pauline put effort into making all their guests have an enjoyable stay.
Review 108:Private parking, but only for 3 cars. Shared shower is only suitable for kids and if your height is 1.60 metres maximum, with very low water pressure, not comfortable at all. Shared room is very small. A bit expensive in my opinion.
Review 109:Quiet street, comfortable bed, free Internet, nice staff. Shared bathrooms were clean. Towels and sheets included.
Review 110:Pauline and tim have got everything right .we stayed for two nights and we will be back.this guest house is highly recommended as rooms were great food was excellent, and the hosts and property were fantastic ,we felt very welcome all through our stay don't just look get on their website and book you won't be disappointed
Review 111:We had a great 4 day stay and it was situated in a good place for getting around paignton. Thanks to Tim and Pauline for a great stay and a excellent breakfast every day.
Review 112:Could not fault
Review 113:Tim and Pauline were very friendly and helpful, They take great pride in there Full English Breakfast, that sets you up for the day. Using only the best quality bacon, sausage and free range eggs. black pudding and mushrooms and tomato and fried bread were yummy to. On the treadmill for a week now. Presentation spot on. The Room was excellent clean bright and cheerful with all you need. Location was perfect for us, very close to a lovely beach and pub on the corner which we enjoyed our evening meal, or a small walk into the main entertainment that Paignton has to offer.
Review 114:since the walls are thin, you could hear the neighbours music... so in case you really need to sleep, it might be a little bit annoying
Review 115:really clean room and toilet / shower very friendly staff nice location near the sea
Review 116:Small room and steep stairs (but normal for this location).
Review 117:Limited parking (but there always seemed to be a space for our car). Fairly close to sea front. Old tall narrow house but well kept.
Review 118:Was not anything to dislike.
Review 119:Great location, really friendly owners, Nice guest house, rooms really nice we enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend and will stay again.
Review 120:Great value for money.Professional people doing a professional job.4th visit to this B & B and will return next year.Have used a lot of B& B's this year at different locations-we rate this B & B up with the best.
Review 121:The place was amazing, the staff were fantastic, they welcomed my 3year old with no issues, they were on hand no matter what you needed, and I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. It's not a 5star swanky hotel but why would you want that when you can have such a welcoming homely place to stay. My friend, my daughter and I didn't want to leave!
Review 122:Little small rooms but had everything you needed. Parking is limited but same problem all across town.
Review 123:Owners really nice. Room really clean, towels so fluffy and bed really nice. Good cooked breakfast.
Review 124:Me and my boyfriend stayed at the guest house June 6th-8th. It was our third visit. Tim and Pauline are lovely owners and served a lovely home cooked breakfast. That best breakfast i have had in a guest house. Rooms are clean and tidy. They provide you with soap and shower gels etc. Also tea and coffee making facilities, they top up coffee and tea and milk the next day. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners. If your unsure what to do during day, their happy to give you some ideas. We will definitely be returning next year. I highly recommended this guest house. But book in advance as they get booked up quick
