Reviews for London Beach Country Hotel, Golf Club & Spa
Review 1:To pay extra for the swimming pool, etc. I didn't use, but looked fantastic. Abit pricey at £25 extra per night.
Review 2:Staff, very friendly and efficient
Review 3:Didn't like the fact the spa/swimming pool facility was not included, but a 25 pound per person additional charge, so we didn't use the facility unfortunately and that was disappointing.
Review 4:The size of the room and the size of the beds was excellent. Enjoyed having a window to open. Breakfast on the second day was not as good as the first due to fewer options on the buffet.
Review 5:Noise from plant room,(room 107) no place to plug kettle in, several cricket tee shirt framed in room ok if you like that sort of thing. TV a bit too far away room was large enough for sofa but had 2 hard chair type seats instead. £ 25.00 pp per day to use spa a little expensive.
Review 6:Size of rooms very large, good shower, queen size beds, views over golf course, great Breakfast and Free parking. Friendly staff.
Review 7:Use of swimming pool not included in package. Wanted to charge £25 per person too use pool. Greedy and outrageous.
Review 8:Clean and pleasant room. Quiet. Good balcony view.
Review 9:The air con (dehydrating), the beds (which weren't Queensize as stated and uncomfortable), the bin in the bathroom wasn't empty on arrival, no smoking on the balcony allowed, no access to the grounds behind hotel if you're not golfing, no access to swimming pool unless you pay the entire £25, the front doors are locked at midnight, no robes included in room (unless you have a spa package), very minimal milk included with tea and coffee, the £3.50 charge per room service trip, unfair pricing on room service items (eg. a more expensive newspaper costs more to bring up to the room than a cheaper one).
Review 10:The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel is very close to Tenterden High Street. The balcony view was beautiful and the breakfast was lovely.
Review 11:Balcony chairs and table ready for 'the tip' in our opinion. Officious notice prohibiting smoking on the balcony.
Review 12:Beds really comfortable. Very clean bed linen, towels etc. Breakfast good, although slow service.
Review 13:Noisy in the public areas on the Friday night (a complete contrast to Thursday night!), owing to various gatherings taking place at the same time.
Review 14:Nice double room with an excellent, balcony view. Good off road parking. Good, bistro-style food.
Review 15:Some confusion as to whether we could store our bikes over night, but it got sorted.
Review 16:We had a spacious and comfortable room. Lovely views from the window. The Spa pool was good and easy to use.
Review 17:To sum up...basic, dated rooms not acceptable for price. Gorgeous view through v dirty windows. Great staff, fab breakfast. Could be so nice if the owners spent some money on it. Stayed in better rooms at budget hotels.
Review 18:Expensive hotel as very dated. Nice position, lovely view of golf course through picture window in bedroom.....unfortunately v v dirty window, balcony furniture seen better days. Staff v helpful, first room had sour musty smell, receptionist moved us straight away. Fab breakfast, again nice staff.
Review 19:I'd booked a twin room but got given a double as the hotel was fully booked. I'd have preferred not to have had to share a bed with my friend...we are not a couple! I'd specifically booked a twin for this reason
Review 20:Great views. Basic but nice room.
Review 21:The fact that I booked the hotel with booking dotcom as it was a spa hotel but.found it a bit lacking. I would have been a bit more impressed if I had been made to feel more welcome at the spa. I had booked it for a treat for my husband for our anniversary, but didn't feel treated at all.
Review 22:The location and cleanliness and the helpfulness of the breakfast staff with gluten free diet requirements
Review 23:Felt rushed to leave the bar at 10 - 10.30, would have expected better from such a nice hotel. Decor also a little dated now, could do with some new furniture and curtains.
Review 24:Nice friendly hotel with lovely views and comfortable rooms.
Review 25:Cannot use the pool unless member of healthclub or you can pay£25 a day - in my view far too expensive. No one in pool when I wanted to have a swim so really they are loosing business! Also depending on how much you are paying to stay depicts which restaurant you can eat in. Bizarre!
Review 26:The scenery from the room overlooking the golf course
Review 27:we asked for 2 cots - we were only told the night before we arrived that we could not fit two cots into our room which meant we had to bring our own travel cot at the last minute. We asked for early check in as we were going to our son's wedding; we were told that the room was vacant the night before but when we arrived we were told the room was not ready meaning we had to leave the reception to check in later.
Review 28:Comfortable room; lovely location.
Review 29:Staff friendly, food very good, rooms huge with lovely views over the golf course. This hotel is in a great touring area with castles, vineyards and steam trains all within easy driving distance, plus the lovely seaside resort of Hastings not too far away.
Review 30:Disappointing that spa entry was extra per person and price prohibitive - only wanted a "dip" in pool. Food disappointing in restaurant also
Review 31:Convenient for location chosen. Bedroom excellent lovely balcony also
Review 32:No bad experience the hotel was perfect !!!
Review 33:One of the best hotels weve stayed at nice friendly atmosphere wonderful view from bedroom adequate parking without additional charging A thoroughly nice non gimmicky hotel with spa facilities and golf course will definitely book again when in the area
Review 34:Rural location. Getting taxis was a problem if you wanted to go out to a pub in the town and not worry about drinking. Also, use of the spa facilities is restricted to spa break bookings. This wasn't clear at time of booking
Review 35:Brilliant location, indoor heated pool and spa and 9-hole golf course
Review 36:No towel rail in bathroom, room not ready, a complimentary coffee would have been acceptable while kept waiting for almost 1 hour. Too many artificial flower arrangements in public areas.
Review 37:Blackout curtains in room worked well, enjoyed striking view of golf course from room balcony, although privacy with neighbouring room was an issue
Review 38:Bathroom floor could have been cleaner but not a problem. More choice on cereal fruit etc at breakfast.
Review 39:The peace, tranquility, view over golf course and country side. The staff friendly and helpful. The food, I could go on. Comfort.
Review 40:I personally found the bath quite hard to step in to as it was rather high. We also asked for early check in, in advance and the day before although they couldn't promise I did not feel the made enough effort to help with this request.
Review 41:the lovely surroundings and the comfort of the room. Great balcony view of the golf course with a lovely sunny aspect.
Review 42:We were disappointed that the use of the pool was not included On the Saturday night the waiting staff were preoccupied with a wedding party and were inattentive
Review 43:Good room with good balcony and view
Review 44:Breakfast wasn't ready at 7am and slow service. One member of staff to check people out and serve breakfast. Could have been better.
Review 45:Room with balcony and a great view
Review 46:Staff were very friendly, helpful and provided great service from reception, bar, food and salon staff. Loved the view of the golf course from the balcony and breathing in the wonderful fresh country air. Everything was great.
Review 47:All a bit tired and a few of the staff seemed quite indifferent. The room was clean and tidy but some of the 'house rules' about partaking of a drink or food in your own were decidedly draconian. The Spa at £25 per person per day extra was outrageous.
Review 48:The view across the golf course was stunning and being close to Tenterden a huge plus.
Review 49:It said to pay extra for the Spa, but didnt mention you couldnt use thepool, the woman in charge of the spa was abrupt and rude, she could havesaid oh no sorry you can't instead of you don't get it when youonly pay b&B!"!
Review 50:THe location was fantastic!
Review 51:Staff were very nice. The hotel isn't modern and flashy but very homely and welcoming. Lovely views. Nice little golf course on site and spa too. Close to Chart Hills.
Review 52:Same dinner menu on -both nights and limited choice; not particularly nice - poor value. One member of staff could do with more training considering hotel work is with people.
Review 53:The room and balcony fabulous; wonderful beds and comfort. Stunning outlook. Staff (with the one exception )friendly and helpful. we had a great stay.
Review 54:Poorly trained staff. Not friendly . Breakfast very disappointing.
Review 55:Location with lovely view. Large and comfortable bedroom and good bathroom( except overhead shower).
Review 56:On arrival we were told that to use the swimming pool would cost an extra £25 each. We understood from the website that spa facilities would be£25 (for things like massage, facials, manicures etc.) but could not believe that just to use the pool would that price as well. £5 would be reasonable or even in the price of the room?
Review 57:Friendly staff and good food.
Review 58:The £25 extra charge per person to use the spa pool etc!!! This should be made MUCH clearer when viewing the hotel before booking. It was the main difference we chose this hotel as it had spa facilities advertised as a feature. Very disappointing to say the least!!!
Review 59:Interior and not very pleasant odours of bar, restaurant. Looks all a bit tired and can do with a good spring cleaning.
Review 60:Large rooms. Easy parking. Friendly staff. Quiet location.
Review 61:the only thing we want the hotel to consider is the possibility of becoming a member of the spa as a guest of the hotel. In most hotels this is free not £25. A fee of £5 might be reasonable but £25 is unacceptable. Our bar meal fish was somewhat over cooked which was disappointing.
Review 62:The hotel is excellent, clean, tastefully decorated, friendly & polite staff with excellent private rooms & public spaces. We loved our second stay as much as the first. We very much appreciated the bottles of water in our room. A superb breakfast with hot croissants.
Review 63:There was really nothing we disliked.
Review 64:The location, the excellent, polite & friendly staff, the comfortable room & bed & the excellent breakfast.
Review 65:the jacuzi was a bit cold and the pool had a lot of debri in it.
Review 66:The food was amazing. The staff are extremely polite and friendly. can't do enough for you. The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are nice and big. The beds are amazingly comfortable.
Review 67:We have been at this hotel and really love it there. Unfortunately with the restraunt this time it was a very slow service. We had planned to go out after dinner but had to wait 40 minutes for our starter to arrive, so cancelled our plans to go out. We also noticed that 5 other tables at the same time were waiting for their service too. We will come again but maybe eat earlier next time. Also the boiler is very loud and can be heard quite a lot during the night, it may have been our room position or the fact that we came in the summer last time, it kept my partner awake some of the night.
Review 68:We love this hotel as it is so peaceful and friendly. Food and spa beautiful. We will come again.
Review 69:I missed the fact that the pool gym and spare were £25 extra, always like to swim if possible first thing in the morning before work when staying away but not at 50p a length! i wasnt there long enough to use the Spa facilities
Review 70:All staff were extremely friendly and helpful
Review 71:We stayed as hotel guests for 3 nights and had hoped to be able to use the swimming pool, quite happy to accept restricted times. This was not possible unless you paid well over the odds, or were on a Health Club or Spa package.
Review 72:We liked the location - convenient to Tenterden and surrounding area. Excellent views over the golf course and countryside from both ground floor and 2nd floor bedroom. Breakfasts were excellent.
Review 73:Background hum coming from the roof area during the late evening and again back on in the early hours was annoying.
Review 74:Great views from the room. Good location for visiting the surrounding area.
Review 75:The whole hoteL needs a Makeover in white and refurbishment and modern stylish furniture ,the plastic flowers everywhere need to go.the menus could do with a rethink and perhaps specials every day, balcony furniture needs replacing, the hotel lets the great staff down .
Review 76:The staff friendliness .
Review 77:There was nothing to dislike.
Review 78:The rooms were very large extremely clean and very well stocked. The spa area was great, the staff so helpful and the treatment was wonderful. We would definately return.
Review 79:To far from Shropshire....
Review 80:Everyone staff member were excellent, friendly, polite and chatty. Nothing to much trouble. Great location, views and comfy beds.
Review 81:we were very disappointed to find that the charge for using the pool was £25 each per day. we had driven for over 4 hours to reach the hotel and desperately needed a dip. £50 a go is outrageous! Does the pool get any use? The restaurant let us down badly. For my evening meal I chose rib-eye beef costing £21.95. The meat was inedible in fact I could hardly cut it into bite-size pieces. It was a mass of sinews, gristle and fat. I complained to the waiter who apologised. No other action was taken. The wine was very expensive and of poor quality. ( I am an expert in these matters )
Review 82:we had a very comfortable and spacious bedroom suite and the beds were fine.
Review 83:Pillows were very hard and not comfortable. The rooms were a little dated. We ate in the conservatory on our second night. The food we ordered was not cooked properly we only ate about a quarter of it. We complained but no one came back to us. When we went to pay I had to actually mention it again and then the manager said he would only charge us for one meal. I think if the complaint had been dealt with promptly and we were offered a free desert or something we would have been happy. We would stay at the hotel again but we would not have a meal there.
Review 84:View from the rooms was fantastic. Lovely conservatory with views over the golf course. Beds were very comfortable. Very friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent.
Review 85:service at dinner a little slow but the charming staff and lovely food more than made up for this.
Review 86:Bedroom absolutely huge with fab view of the golf course from the balcony, staff very accommodating, friendly and fun, dinner in the restaurant very good and breakfast had quality ingredients and amount provided would suit the largest appetite. Beds extremely comfortable and the best value for money of all the hotels we have sampled over the years, as being a 'mature' couple we have experienced a fair few!
Review 87:Room was just a little tired.
Review 88:Location for our trip was perfect. Huge room with 2 double beds & great bathroom. Balcony with perfect view over the golf course.
Review 89:Attitude of some of the servers in the bar blunt and lacked courtesy. Reception didn't always answer the phone..very frustrating Very hot building....
Review 90:Bed and the view
Review 91:From the moment I arrived I was greeted with kindness. The Staff were very supportive & welcoming. Whatever role Staff occupied NOTHING was too much when assistance was required. The room I occupied was a Family room, very spacious which included a sofa, armchair, fridge, microwave, flat-screen tv & washing machine. There was plenty of storage space The bathroom had a large shower with 2 sinks & a heated towel rail. Tea & coffee making facilities included DELICIOUS biscuits with 2 bottles of water. My room had a terrace overlooking a BEAUTIFUL golf course. The PERFECT Birthday treat!
Review 92:the fact that children could not use the swimming pool, therefore we would not be able to visit again with family & grandchildren
Review 93:scenery, quietness and relaxing time, the rooms were lovely
Review 94:Not having treatments which we thought we.d have..I phoned few weeks before we went and was told not so busy Mon-fri,so treatments would be ok.thought we.d have.least 1 a day.didn't happen I had
Review 95:A treat for me &best mate who I have known since primary school62yrs.her b.day ..day b4 we went &,her husband died end April.so was going to be relaxing few days.which it was..but upset about treatments...
Review 96:Spacious room , Fabulous views ,very good service a full 5 star experience , compared with Sofitel LHR, Andaz at Liverpool St. Grand Hyatt Melbourne AUS. Radisson BLU. Copenhagen.
Review 97:The hotel itself like rooms should be upgraded the couch was very grubby/old/stained. Bed was comfy.
