Reviews for Braidmead House

Review 1:Liked everything.

Review 2:Lovely quiet bedroom with immaculate shower room. Very comfortable lounge to relax in with flat screen tv. On site car parking. Owners are excellent hosts and it felt like home from home. Excellent breakfast served in a pleasant dining room.

Review 3:Only thing was the mattresses in our room I thought were a little old.

Review 4:The people who run it are lovely and it's a beautiful place. The food was wonderful.

Review 5:Just a note that room 7/8 are next to dining room so you awake with fòotsteps at 6:30. Not an issue if you need up early.

Review 6:Beautiful old huge house standards like being at home for me. Victorian building preserved.

Review 7:Our room was very noisy, off a corridor with bare floors and the passageway to the dining room. The owner said they were planning to carpet it which would be better. The dining room was also extremely noisy with just a few people.

Review 8:Lovely owner! Well appointed.

Review 9:I was staying due to a family emergency the owner Diane presented me with a beautiful room and made a difficult time easier for me , I have traveled a lot with my job and it's the best place I have stayed in so far I would highly recommend it.

Review 10:Smelly air "fresheners" around the house which I didn´t like.

Review 11:The lady of the house was very kind and helpful. Good breakfast. Gluten free cerials and bread!!!!

Review 12:N/A I defy anyone to find fault.

Review 13:Everything! What's not to like fantastic hosts, excellent food, fabulous rooms. Better than any 5 star hotel I have ever been too.

Review 14:We live in the countryside so the road was a little noisy (at the front of the house) although traffic dropped off later in the evening.

Review 15:Very nicely decorated and furnished. Lovely lounge. Very friendly owner/staff and excellent breakfast. Good location for the Arran ferry and off street parking available.

Review 16:The property was listed as a hotel but in reality was only a bed and breakfast. No bar, no meals other than breakfast available. It was not what we were expecting.

Review 17:Nothing we didn't like

Review 18:Friendly on arrival, changed rooms around so I could have a room downstairs, breakfast lovely and hot, definitely go back for a stay

Review 19:Excellent large Bed and Breakfast located within walking distance of the railway station. The breakfast is huge even with Scottish standards. Definitely a place I'll stay at again when in the area.

Review 20:The bed mattress in the twin room was too soft. Breakfast time was early for a Sunday morning 07:00 - 09:00. Would have preferred a later breakfast and check out time, as we had been out late the night before. Although they were not strict about check out time which was 10am.

Review 21:House was beautifully decorated, very clean. Welcome by staft was great. Staff were very helpful and arranged a taxi for us at night. Rooms were spacious. Breakfast was very tasty and a good choice. Cooked breakfast - bacon, sausage, eggs, beans, tomato and potato scone - perfectly cooked. Also toast with jams, cereal, fresh juice, tea & coffee.

Review 22:First time I have stayed in a B&B so others will have to be the same high standard. Felt like a boutique hotel. Very friendly owners, great room and great breakfast. Would use again.

Review 23:Nothing.

Review 24:Facilities were superb and breakfast to die for. Host Diana and other staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Most spacious B&B we've ever stayed in.

Review 30:Not really a complaint but the breakfast although very tasty and well presented was a bit too much - we couldn't finish it?

Review 31:There was no noisy music - it was peaceful, clean and comfortable.

Review 39:None

Review 40:Our room was large & very comfortable with an enormous bathroom. We had problem with ferry to Arran & our host gave us early breakfast so we could catch the early ferry which was not booked out. She also contacted our B&B on Arran in case we didn't make it. All well.

Review 41:Irvine seems to be a working town rather than a place for a holiday visit.

Review 42:Quality property, good size well fitted rooms, comfortable lounge, welcoming host, nothing was too much trouble, close to Irvine town centre for restaurants, convenient for Arran ferry.

Review 43:Nothing to fault - was made to feel welcome from the moment I walked up the drive - will definitely make Braidsmead my first point of call whenever I visit Irvine in the future

Review 44:Whenever I visit Irvine I used to stay at the Menzies Hotel but decided to try something different. I am so glad that I did because the Braidmead is one of the best hotels/guest houses that I have ever stayed in. Diana and her staff are wonderful and will go out of their way to ensure that your stay exceeds your expectations. Take it from me, there is no better place to stay in Irvine or surrounding area. I for one will definitely be back.

Review 45:Abolutely nothing.

Review 46:Diana is the perfect hostess and provided a warm and homely experience for my short 2 day stay. The Scottish Breakfast was one of the best I have ever enjoyed and exellently presented.

Review 57:Couldn't get tv in lounge to work although we could access iplayer!A very minor complaint!

Review 59:The welcome, the tea on arrival, the help to find excellent eating places and an introduction to the key players we wanted to meet in the `YES` Referendum campaign

Review 60:I really cannot think of anything we didn't like other than having to leave!

Review 61:Diane was really friendly right from the off and went out of her way to help us; nothing was too much trouble. Braidmead is a beautiful house, elegantly decorated with quality furniture. The entire place was immaculately clean. Our room was very comfortable with a lovely shower room. Big flat screen TV. The full Scottish breakfast was beautifully cooked and plenty of it. Right up there with the best cooked breakfasts I've had. Only a short walk to town. Plenty of parking.

Review 62:Braidmead House is one of those little gems you stumble on when travelling. Great facility with lovely staff. Welcomed as you check in with a pot of tea or coffee and home made cakes and biscuits ,no charge. Staff willing to chat about what to do in the local area and where to eat. Lots of little personal recommendations. Couldn't fault it. My second visit here and will be going there again if in the area.

Review 63:The lady who owns the hotel is lovely and made me feel very welcome The staff at breakfast were also lovely Comfy, nicely decorated room Comfy bed Good temperature Some toiletries provided Comfortable lounge area Personal touch evident all round Decent selection of food for breakfast

Review 64:Everything, will definitely return as such a warm welcome, comfortable room, great breakfast and location. The sumptuous lounge was fab. Wished we had planned to stay longer :-)

Review 65:Minor was that the blinds were very light so woke up super early.

Review 66:The bed was the best I've slept in & the room was very spacious & spotless. The breakfast is huge & delishous. There's nothing too much for Diane. Only fault & a minor one is the blinds very light so woke up super early. Would defo stay again.

Review 67:Nothing to dislike, except wish we could have stayed longer

Review 68:The Room we were in was sumptuous in every way the Bathroom was pure luxury at least five star quality. Wifi was fast and easy to use. The Hotel was quiet over night. The owner was a delightful person who could not do enough to help us. We had an early start so, to my disappointment, and the owners, I had to forgo the full English breakfast. Instead we were provide with an ample breakfast pack to eat on our journey.

Review 69:Nothing to dislike about this place

Review 70:The friendliness of staff was very good i missed breakfast but when I checked out I was asked if I would like something made for me very nice touch I think well done to you all

Review 74:Going home, we could have happily stayed another night.

Review 75:The staff were so lovely and accommodating, diane bent over backwards arranging early check in allowing us to prepare for a wedding we were attending. We were made feel so welcome and strangely felt like part of the family by the time we checked out. Breakfast was amazing, definately set up for the day ahead. Nothing was a bother, I was so grateful for the loan of a brolly as the weather was awful, my hair was saved. If we ever have an excuse to stay in the area again we would definately visit braidmead house. This b&b is far Better than many big hotel chains which I have stayed in before, it felt luxurious, up market with a very personal touch.

Review 76:There was nothing to dislike!

Review 77:We received a lovely friendly welcome from Diana. We were immediately offered a hot drink in the beautiful and comfortable lounge. Our room and facilities were spotless, spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice, well cooked and nicely presented by very friendly staff. Owners were very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and places to eat. A real home from home. The whole place had an air of friendliness, cleanliness and comfort about it. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 78:The blinds in the bedroom didn't block out daylight. Also there was so shower gel in the shower. Despite both of these points, I'd stay there again as it really was a fabulous!

Review 79:Luxurious b&b. Beds very comfortable and rooms very clean. I liked the sweets in the rooms & the lounge area! Yum!

Review 80:- very comfortable; it feels as if you are in the home of one of your friends - very friendly staff - good parking facilities - wonderful British breakfast - easy to travel to Glasgow by train (station app. 10 minutes walk)

Review 81:There was nothing we do not like about Braidmead House however Irvine itself needs a little bit of TLC. On saying that we did find good places to eat - SI an Italian Restaurant and also the pub at the harbour which served good quality "pub grub".

Review 82:The property was spotlessly clean with a lovely lounge to relax in. The proprietor is just lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Our bedroom room was very comfortable with an excellent shower. The breakfast was to die for, everything you needed. Would highly recommend staying at Braidmead House.

Review 83:We liked everything. We were there but the one night, sadly, breaking our journey home. This is a most excellent guest house, beautifully appointed and almost finished in it's refurbishment. I doubt any visitor will find a more luxurious guest house. The staff were excellent without being intrusive. The breakfast - full Scottish - was delicious, beautifully cooked served with plenty of toast and coffee. The owner is just the most lovely person who couldn't do enough to make us welcome - which I have to say was wonderful after travelling 12 hours from Sutherland causing us to arrive mid-evening. I can only liken the welcome to being greeted by a loving relative rather than a stranger. You have to stay here. Highly recommend it.

Review 84:We were only there two nights.

Review 85:The proprietors, were very pleasant engaging and very helpful in all aspects of our stay. Nothing was a difficulty and all aspects of the hotel were directed at making guests comfortable and at ease.
