Reviews for Parkhotel Pörtschach

Review 1:tiny issues - as long as you remember that only half of the rooms have been refurbished, make sure to get one of those ! WiFi coverage on the cafè terrace and in the rooms in the first floor was a bit weak. dinner was good on buffet nights, lacked a bit of variety on other days; there's room for improvement here. and yes - the "60s design" of the lobby is dated, very dated.

Review 2:the location is breathtakingly beauiful, rooms are very comfortable, views are hard to beat, you feel like sleeping in the middle of the lake; beach is nice. but, above all: this isn't a small boutique hotel - but the staff makes it feel like one - impossible to single out anybody, all staff members from bell"boys" to the impeccable and quick service at the beach and the restaurant, everybody was doing the best possible to make you feel welcome and comfortable. impressive.

Review 3:The standard rooms are really bad. Old, and equivalent to a 3 star hotel. The price is super expensive for the quality that these rooms offer, we payed 250€ per-night! (with breakfast) The light of the room didnt work, the toilette flush was not strong enough, and in general the room is really old style. Even the door of the room as a wood door with key... Never again.

Review 4:Localization

Review 5:It is not even a problem of the hotel, but maybe the peculiarity of Austrian and German culture, which was a bit strange for me as a tourist: here was a letter in the sauna that it is prohibited to enter sauna (for men and women together) in the swimming suit, so all men were without nothing... I was very shy and waited in the swimming pool until they leave it :))))

Review 6:Very comfartable and nice room with the view on the lake (if I understood well by the way all rooms are with the view on the lake, because the hotel on in the spit of the lake). Very good welness zone: swimming pool, saunas - everywhere you can find towels, drinking water and glasses. We would like to return in this hotel!

Review 7:Staffs' kindness. Nobody opened the enterance door when we came into the hotel at night even though we went with baby stroll. It gave bad impression.

Review 8:Perfect location has perfect view and beautiful course for walk around hotel. After having early breakfast, we could have the most beautiful morning time with feeling autumn by just walk around hotel.

Review 9:It was obvious to us that this hotel is not used to foreign travellers. It felt very much like a place for Austrians only. It didn't have the feel of an international hotel for example we had to ask for printed material in English. However most staff did try their best to converse in English. At times I almost felt guilty for not speaking German but maybe this was just a subtle cultural difference. Not really complaining as we had a great week - just an observation that did make us feel a bit uncomfortable at times. The tariff was very expensive. Yes it was peak season but what worked out to be AUD$550 a night was a lot more than the equivalent in Australian standards however it was our little splurge for the wedding we'd crossed the world to be at so we didn't mind doing this for once.

Review 10:The location was wonderful and the views breathtaking. We had no car but getting around was so easy either walking to the local village, riding the free hotel bikes, taxis (expensive) to and from the wedding, free hotel shuttle 20 minutes to and from the airport and the efficient trains and ferries to nearby places. The room was huge and comfortable and the food fantastic. I stay in hotels all over Australia with my work about 120 nights a year and I've never seen a breakfast spread as good as this one. The evening meals were great too. They were good value and interesting fare especially the traditional Austrian food. The pool was lovely and the beach area nice although we never did understand the seat booking system. The food down at the beach was great too. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 11:Busy part of town. There was a live band outside our window that played past 11 pm.

Review 12:The view was spectacular. We enjoyed the outdoor facilities, especially the stand up paddle boarding. Watching the sunset on the balcony was perfect.

Review 13:This hotel isn't the best looking hotel from the outside and probably needs refurbishment in some areas but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Review 14:Very pleasant and helpful staff. Lovely newly refurbished room in 60s style. Lovely food, both breakfast and evening meal. Grounds and private lakeside area with sunbeds was great....oh and the free bicycles.

Review 15:We loved this hotel! We had a comfortable room overlooking the beautiful lake. Free bike hire added to the overall experience and eating breakfast and dinner right near the lake made the stay very memorable. Toni in the Parkhotel a la carte restaurant, the band there and Anton at the buffet breakfast ensured we had a great time. Loved the restaurant food!

Review 16:No iron in the room; old hair dryer; hotel is overall old enough, but 6th floor is completely renovated

Review 17:Panoramic lake view from the room (superior room 6th floor); breakfast was awesome; beach is private and very comfortable

Review 18:Wonderful views!

Review 19:Spa and position

Review 20:The hall. It's stayed hier from 1970.

Review 21:The panorama was beautiful.

Review 22:This hotel is fantastic! Absolutely stunning view, great facilities and great service. I will be going back and I highly recommend it.

Review 23:Over crowded beach area

Review 24:Lake View Lounge Service

Review 25:Staff Location

Review 26:Poor choice of food. The rooms that had not been refurbished were very poor for the price paid.

Review 27:Excellent location and facilities.

Review 28:Good location, very friendly personnel, good food, nice rooms

Review 29:Great location and private beach on lake

Review 30:WiFi only worked in the lobby

Review 38:Comfortable room with great view. Nice and friendly staffs. Excellent breakfast

Review 39:Very nice location, we had a superior room with huge balcony. Very friendly staff

Review 40:Some rooms need a make over!!

Review 41:Elevators are outdated

Review 42:Location View from the top floor towards lake Room (the renovated one) Meals

Review 43:Old room

Review 44:Nice by the lake / Meals

Review 45:N.a.

Review 46:Friendlyness. Perfect view to the lake.

Review 47:The hotel in this condition does not rate 4 star in my opinion. The ground floor is excellent but the floors above are crying out for a FULL refurbishment! Carpets from the 70's, lifts from the 60's covered in graffiti. The price per night relates more to the location and the view rather that the overall Hotel experience. Please bit the bullet. Shut the Hotel for a year and do a full refurb! You can't loose. :0)

Review 48:The location on the lake was stunning! Service worthy of 4 star. The gardens and surrounding are beautiful.

Review 49:Was not able to get an appointment for a treatment in the Spa during our 2 night stay! Children & teenagers playing in the pool next to the Spa relaxation area.... not very relaxing! After arriving at 4pm for a pre-dinner relax & swim, had to wait until 6pm when most of the children had left... only to find a group of 3 teenage boys come in and cause disruption in the pool. Suggest maybe a couple of Over 18's time slots throughout the day?? Menu and openening hours and the restaurants restrictive.

Review 50:Location of the Hotel was excellent. Rooms good size, wonderful view, modern and clean. Breakfast Buffet was excellent. Great private beach area. Good size Spa/relaxation area.

Review 51:The sofa bed for our son was extremely uncomfortable and not suitable for a twelve year old

Review 52:The location was excellent, our room overlooked the lake and the view was wonderful.

Review 53:Better book the new rooms in the hotel. We stayed one night in the old one and it was without air condion and furniture was poor. It is not worth of the money. Actually we change next day to new room with a sea wiew

Review 54:The place of the hotel is fantastic and private beach is only 2min walking from reception. New part of the hotel is perfect with sea wiew and rooms are very nice

Review 55:Our room was very basic and quite uncomfortable for the money. Unfortunately we were not put into a room on the side of the hotel that had been given a face lift. It was ok for 1 night stay but glad to move on.

Review 56:The location of this hotel was wonderful. It has a very charming old style feel to it.

Review 57:Only thing to take into consideration that standard rooms are a littleold fashioned in spite of most of the rooms which are brand new.

Review 58:The location is fantastic, probably the best situated hotelaround the lake.

Review 59:We made the mistake to spend a night at this hotel on our way backhome...in november!! It's best in summer for the amazing view, the lake, the watersports...but its worst in winter becausr it is literaly empty!Wish I had this info before I choose this place.

Review 60:More important. The motion detector on the room entryway light should be able to be turned off without turning off all the electricity in the room (including all other lights and HVAC) by removing the room key from it's recepticle. During the night it is annoying that it comes on when one of us used the WC. A dim night light would be better since it wouldn't wake up other people like the bright entryway light. Less important. Parking was limited to paid public parking a distance away from the Hotel. Parking places near to the entry of the hotel were limited to less than 10 spaces and others were blocked so they could not be used.

Review 61:Nearly everything.

Review 62:Reception when you arrive. No help with luggage. No information given to you about the hotel and it services. Price , for this level the price is quit high. One side of the hotel is renovated the otherone not. This looks very strange.

Review 63:Nice vieuw on the lake. Good breakfast. Playground for children vissible from the balcony of your room. Nice beach, with good food.

Review 64:Nothing - but would have been different if I hadn't had a superior room and been on the wrong side of the hotel!

Review 65:Location, views and great superior room

Review 66:It would be nice if they had a satellite tuned to Astra 28 East to give english freesat. But not really a complaint. Very important is that staff address guests correctly. They seemed to not cope with a hyphenated surname ! Little point in truth, but just thought to mention it.

Review 67:A family oriented hotel in a good location. I would certainly re-visit and take my family. The local railway station is convenient, but heavy luggage is a problem - no lift or escalator! The staff are friendly and helpful. Their command of english was sometimes limited but never an insurmaountable problem. Great lakeside position, shame they did not offer sailing, especially dinghy sail training for youngsters.

Review 68:Staff at the restaurant was a little bit confused. Hotel is ideal for mature couples, still needs some modernization, there is no WiFi in the rooms, for example.

Review 69:We stayed at the hotel for second year in row. Location of the hotel is one of the most beautiful you can find anywhere in continental Europe.

Review 70:I would recommend that the hotel provide more information in English for foreign tourists, not only in German. That is the only "not positive feedback", all other was fantastic.

Review 71:Fantastic location on a half-island in Worthersee, very warm, clean and fresh lake. We could see the lake out of our room (one side) and out of the restaurant when having meals - the other side. Hotel is very clean and cosy, daily cleaning and towels change. Beach service is very good - towels, twinkies, sun umbrellas are available in a necessary amount. Meal in the hotel is very delicious, rich selection of dishes. Hotel offered different parties (grill dinner, fashion show, dancing with live music). "White Festival" was absolutely charming. Cosmetic salon provides good treatment for face and body.

Review 72:The only suggestion would be to have wireless internet in the rooms.

Review 73:Wonderful location, helpful and professional staff, lovely beach. We loved the dinners.

Review 74:The hotel is dated, and although it would appear that the rooms at the front have been refurbished, we had a very old fashioned room. Worse still was the fact that our room had no air conditioning and the temperature was in the 40s whilst we were there. We were advised of a free airport shuttle but the driver refused to take us because we weren't on the list- he phoned the hotel who told him not o take us even though we had written confirmation. We ended up having to pay 53 Euros for a taxi. We complained to the man at reception (a short older gentlemen) and he couldn't have been less interested or more surly. We asked him to arrange for the double to be made into twin. We ended up having to do it ourselves. I could only get the wifi to work in the lobby.

Review 75:The location, right on the lake, was excellent. The breakfast staff and evening bar staff were friendly and efficient. There was one lady on our last day who tried very hard to sort out the difficulties we were having. However she couldn't give us a refund for the taxi(see below) because the Director wasn't there. Breakfast was really good- varied and fresh. The evening entertainment was good too.

Review 76:Hotel lower floors not renovated, showing their age.

Review 77:Room on the top floor with superb views, recent renovation. Excellent position, lively in the day, quiet at night.\. Very good restaurant, full board.

Review 78:Location is just perfect ... in the middle of a park along the lake. All the rooms have a lake view. The spa facility is excellent, including the spa treatments. Breakfast has "something for everyone" ... excellent selection of fresh fruits every day. Staff is attentive.

Review 79:Count two times: check in and check out double checked.

Review 80:View was excellent.

Review 81:The building, view, equipment, staff, surroundings

Review 82:everything was Excellent

Review 83:the food could be improved.

Review 84:the location on the lake.

Review 85:polite staff , excellent location, comfortable rooms and nice wiew

Review 86:The private beach, view, restaurant but mainly the incrediblyhelpful staff.

The Fine Print
