Reviews for Selborne Hotel

Review 1:Didn't like being move from our allocated table overlooking the water to accommodate a bus group.

Review 2:location was good. Room was average even although we paid for an upgrade.

Review 3:entertainment was primarily for an elderly age , typical of bowling clubs ,struggling to survive. en suite double room was very small , photographs were desceptive

Review 4:view from window was excellent

Review 5:In some areas within the hotel could do with a little bit of TLC bit of painting and make some areas a bit brighter, such as the relaxing areas, a bit of painting and some nice pictures would make all the difference

Review 6:Loved the size of room, we upgraded to a sea view which I would advise as it was beautiful, I would also rate this hot as a three star.

Review 7:The location at the front of the hotel isn't very nice, although the sea views are excellent. There was no entertainment

Review 8:The sea views, with easy access to the promenade were excellent

Review 9:Lack of greater choice of fruit at Breakfast. For 2 people this hotel is excellent value for money but as an independent single person I paid for 2 people for 3 nights whereas had i been with a coach tour I would have been asked for a extra £25 for 4 nights.

Review 10:The number of quiet corners to sit with superb views.

Review 11:Not being able to get BBC 1 or 2.on the TV.The building has seen better days and some effort is needed to bring up the standard.

Review 12:The staff were excellent.

Review 13:staff were very friendly and help. When we made the booking in booking.com, the price quotes included bed & breakfast, however when we arrived the lady at the reception explained that it's actually room only rate and might have been an error somewhere on the website. She kindly offered to upgrade us by including breakfast in our stay free of charge and we were very grateful.

Review 49:Good location with excellant views. The room was clean and well appointed. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 50:old, peeling wallpaper, uneven floors, smelled musty, rooms small. expensive in august.

Review 51:location with beautiful view of the bay from the dining area.

Review 52:The hotel ware very friendly and the area of the town is great. Very easy to get fro glasgo or Edinburgh.

Review 53:Everything was fab

Review 54:Hotel is dated and not worth money for bed and breakfast as breakfast is very limited

Review 55:Great location

Review 56:The lack of comfy couches - the room with board games and a lovely view would have been greatly improved with some comfy chairs.

Review 57:The room, the view, breakfast, friendly, attentive staff, games room.

Review 58:The corridors to the rooms looked a bit tired and were abit of amaze ,but I suppose I'mnit picking there

Review 59:The staff were pleasant and helpful, the room was imaculate, breakfast service was very efficient.

Review 60:My partner and I have been a bit ill since we have returned from our trip and my partner has visited the doctor since and the thing that we both did was take our prescribed medication with cold water from the tap in the room. This may be a coincidence however this has been our experience this time. And as a regular customer of Booking .Com this is a first for us Regards George

Review 61:General ambience and fit-out was tired and rather shabby. Probably good value for money outside Cowal Gathering week.

Review 62:Staff were great, and location and views very good.

Review 63:Nothing comes to mind.

Review 64:The staff were very attentive to their duties, be it Reception or waiting staff. All were well mannered and of a pleasant disposition, nothing was too much bother.,

Review 65:We went there for the weekend. We had a member of staff who was drunk phone our rooms at around midnight pestering us to go out drinking with him when we refused he proceeded to come to one of our rooms where I might add had a small child sleeping and let himself in using the master key he took from the night porter this was not acceptable. My sister in-law was very scared to go back to sleep in-case he came back in the room. So whoever uses this hotel just be aware of who has access to your room when your out or in your bed and make sure you lock your room properly so no-one can enter your room while your sleeping. The hotel itself was out-dated there was no entertainment during the weekend and the bar closed earlier than usual. Personally I would not recommend using this hotel to any-one.

Review 66:The sea view was good and the rooms were clean.

Review 67:Breakfast was very ordinary, but if that is all we have to worry about - !!!

Review 68:View from our Room was sensational overlooking Firth of Clyde. The staff were wonderful, most welcoming and couldn't help us enough. Well done Susan,Will and especially Linda.

Review 69:This is the second time I have stayed at the Selborne Hotel, this time with elderly mum (last time as a lone traveller). Once again I would like to thank the manager and staff for their friendliness and courtesy. We asked for a few specific requests to aid mum's requirements too and the hotel assisted in every way. Locals and other guests at hotel (who tended to be coach travellers) were all chatty and made for a lovely little mini-break. As for the hotel's view of the bay, it is second to none (especially if, as we had, the weather was glorious) and the Cowal surrounding area is awe-inspiring - certainly not to be missed. Thank you once again to the manager and the staff of the Selborne Hotel.

Review 70:As we were directly above the ballroom, it was a little noisy, but notto an objectionable level. Parking wasn't always possible in thecar park due to the number of coaches, but there was always space onnearby streets.

Review 71:Great location, great view (worth the extra for a sea view). The roomwas spotless, nicely decorated and well presented, as was the en-suitebathroom. There was plenty of choice for breakfast, though we didn'ttest how flexible the options were. We preferred to eat out in theevenings rather than brave the busy dining room. The staff were pleasantand helpful. Wifi was available in our room, possibly because we werevery close to reception. Despite the fact that the hotel was large andbusy due to the coach parties, there was very little noise from theother rooms.

Review 72:The facilities were excellent, rooms were serviced each day, the staff were super helpful and pleasant. The rooms were very comfortable and nice and warm. Breakfast was excellent, as was the evening meal.

Review 73:Old fashioned corridors and so so food.

Review 84:Creaking floors and staircase Amount of noise coming in through closed doors from corridors.

Review 85:Views Breakfast service

Review 86:Hotel facilities were not to our taste - old and in need of updating.

Review 87:Staff were excellent and very friendly.

Review 88:Very long walk along corridor from reception to room. Apart from coach party, we were the only other residents.
