Reviews for Hôtel de la Baie de Somme

Review 1:High quality fittings and furnishings. Excellent position overlooking the bay. The weekly market (Friday) is right outside but didn't wake us. Would happily stay there again.

Review 2:Check in was 3.30pm .

Review 3:We did an overnight stay here and were impressed by the hotel. We had a light, clean and spacious room overlooking the estuary and excellent croissants the next morning for breakfast.

Review 4:I'd have preferred carpet in the room rather than vinyl - made it feel a bit cheaper than the rest of the experience did.

Review 5:This was a super place for our stopover on the way to Calais, but I'd have been happy to stay longer. The decor is fresh and clean with peaceful neutral colours, the staff smiley and friendly, and the room had everything we needed. Nice powerful shower too. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice.

Review 6:Would love them to have a hot drinks machine. Or an option to have tea/coffee making facilities in room.

Review 7:The location is excellent. Staff are all lovely. Parking is easy. Fab breakfast.

Review 8:The only window in the room was on the ceiling. It was ok for sleeping but not for spending time.

Review 9:The Hotel and the room were clean and close to the sea. Good location for walking excursion.

Review 10:As older guests we would have appreciated a lift to excellent second floor room. Also tea/coffee making facilities in room

Review 11:We liked the location on the harbourside and (pay) parking outside. We found the staff very pleasant and helpful.

Review 12:Breakfast had a very poor choice in cheese, France has some beautiful cheeses but they put out Babybel and Camembert?

Review 13:Car park opposite hotel, ask in reception and you will get a ticket to display at a discounted rate €3.50 per day

Review 14:Pillows soft and flat (a choice of a couple of types would be nice). Adult breakfast price commences at age 8. This is way too low a cut-off age. Rooms were non-smoking but the rooms reaked of tobacco smoke.

Review 15:Location and view over the bay Double adjoining rooms Staff Breakfast

Review 16:A lift would be nice for those with poor knees. Parking can be expensive in the season from Mach to November, although a discounted ticket can be obtained from the hotel. Nothing else to complain about.

Review 17:Lovely location, excellent owners/staff with an excellent breakfast served until quite late in the morning - good for slow risers like us! Ideal for a couple of days away from home and a taste of real France.

Review 18:Not much really. Pity it does not have a restaurant as the breakfast was very good indeed in a lovely room well attended to. No lift so a little restricted

Review 19:Location, cleanliness and nice welcome on arrival. Comfortable if small rooms. Go for the rooms with a view of the bay, our main reason to stay here. A lovely estuary/seaside town

Review 20:There was little sound-proofing and so could hear noise from within the hotel and outside.

Review 21:Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, clean and serviceable rooms.

Review 22:Not the comfiest bed, wifi intermittent and why do we still need a different code for each device and why do we have to re-submit the code dozens of times a day?! Why not have hotel-wide, constant good quality wi-fi?

Review 23:very friendly staff, good location, big room

Review 24:Geese next door a bit noisy in the night (windows had to be shut) & breakfast realatively expensive-€9,50 pP.

Review 25:Freshly renovated bar very well done & location fabulous.

Review 26:Room perhaps a little on the tight side: once or twice we found we were having to take it in turns to move round the room. We found the bar had closed earlier than stated when we tried to go down for a drink at about 2130 hrs.

Review 27:View from two windows (rm 21) is stunning. Pleasant bar area with modern but comfy seating. Warm welcome and pleasant, helpful staff.

Review 28:It was all fine.

Review 29:We used this hotel as we were 'between flats' when moving. Members of our family have also used the hotel in the past and we have been there many times for drinks. Excellent and always service with a smile - despite our terrible grasp of the French language! Thank you.

Review 30:Room rather small but we left booking until the last minute in the high season so we got what we expected

Review 31:Friendly staff, basic accomodation no complaints.

Review 32:Maids forgot to service bedroom, however they didn't charge for breakfast. Very noisy market setting up directly under the bedroom window.

Review 33:Location brill. Very good welcome. Breakfast very good.

Review 34:No lift and room on 2nd floor which meant had to carry heavy bag up 2 flights of stairs. Parking car on car park opposite was difficult as we arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the town was very busy.

Review 35:Good value for the standard of accommodation. Helpfulness of staff regarding good places to eat. Breakfast adequate and better than higher grade hotel which we stayed in afterwards.

Review 36:We were travelling with our little grandson and needed a cot as well as the double bed.The room we were given was far too small and we could barely move around. Also we were disturbed very early by the market being set up and then generators running outside our window. Very noisy! In order to take luggage to the car we had to walk all around the market. Not easy with a small child, when it's pouring with rain.

Review 37:There was no tea/coffee making facilities provided in the room and bar and reception was closed at 10pm so no facility to get either hot/cold water to make own.

Review 38:Cleanliness of hotel was good and WiFi service was also very reliable

Review 39:room on the family floor smelled very highly of fish. Unfortunately the hotel has a problem re the next door restaurant/fish shop. However, this seems to be the family floor only and is apparantly not throughout the year.

Review 40:staff immediately changed our room following the problem re the fish smell. Cant speak too highly of the staff - always ready to help, cheerful and professional. Would certainly stay again.

Review 41:Lovely location and views out onto the river estuary. Comfortable clean room. Nice choice for breakfast.

Review 42:Nothing

Review 43:Location and very welcoming staff, comfortable beds and quiet considering location

Review 44:The location, the staff, the room

Review 45:Location is great

Review 46:Dog very welcome, even allowed at breakfast. Good location right on the sea front, decent priced restaurant next door.

Review 47:Charming and friendly staff - clean rooms and excellent choice of breakfast

Review 48:No lift in hotel

Review 49:Great seaside break.

Review 50:Very attractive decor.

Review 51:very comfortable hotel excellent location easy parking

Review 52:Charged me more than my booking .com invoice.

Review 53:Staff so helpful lovely clean comfy beds and excellent position overlooking the harbour

Review 54:Hotel is situated right on the Baie, just a lovely location

Review 55:The location is a must + the lovely staff and the good breakfast with home -made cakes .

Review 56:There was nothing we didn't like.

Review 57:Friendly staff who always willingly helped.

Review 58:No wifi

Review 59:Friendless off staff

Review 60:Good simple breakfast.

Review 61:the unkempt look of the town

Review 62:the view across the estuary.

Review 63:The bed wasn't very comfortable

Review 64:The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The location is excellent in front of the "Baie"

Review 65:Great location and good value

Review 66:There was only a small window in the top corner of the room, difficult to access to open

Review 67:Limited places to eat after 21:30.

Review 68:Ideal Location Good breakfast Friendly and Accommodating Staff

Review 69:Room adequate but basic. Shower difficult to get into

Review 70:Convenient location

Review 71:The location.

Review 72:Everything was good including the poodle

Review 73:The cost and value for money was not quite there but as we used it as a one night stop it is unfair to say. WIFI you need a code for each device and constant logging on.

Review 74:The area is good, there is a market on Friday when we got there.

Review 75:There is no Tea making facility's in the rooms but this is normal in France

Review 76:It's a nice comfortable hotel and we use it on our trip to our caravan it Saint Jean de Monts

Review 77:No lift. No provision of access code for entrance during the night. The room doesn't work and its very easy to find yourself locked out!

Review 78:Great location with views over harbour and close to restaurants. Ability to handle group of 13 individuals.

Review 79:Wifi was not really available.

Review 80:Clean rooms with reasonable space and a good shower Beautiful location - right by the sea Lots of restaurants and bars on the doorstep

Review 81:The wifi coverage could be better but not a huge problem

Review 82:The service was excellent and the room was basic but very clean, exactly what we needed on our budget. The location is great for restaurants and great views of the port. We hope to be back very soon

Review 83:Parking will cost a bit in season, though the hotel provides passes you pay for. A few more hooks for clothes & towels in the bathroom would be nice.

Review 84:Lovely location, lovely staff, very acceptable rooms and facilities, especialy the room with a harbour view. Breakfast was very acceptable. Will go again as soon as we can!

Review 85:Not having access to bar or tea coffee etc after 9 pm. A room set asidewith a vending machine would be good for when reception is closed. Alsocertain members of our party were disappointed that this was the onlyFrench hotel we stayed in that didn't have a boiled egg machine!!

Review 86:Excellent location. Good choice of places to eat right on doorstep.Comfy, clean and good value. Will be returning.

Review 87:Overpriced for a 2 star hotel; this is a b&b not really a hotel; the bedroom was what I would expect from a 2 star - BUT the bed was old and uncomfortable. The shower fitting in bathroom needs replacing as it is broken ALSO it does not have thermostatic control, so if room next dor uses hot/cold water you either freeze or get scalded.

Review 88:Friendly management & staff Good breakfast

Review 89:The view from our window over the Bay of the Somme, across the road with its varying scene of sandbanks according to the tide, was a scenic delight. The pioneering days of flying by the Caudron brothers at Le Crotoy and the nearby town of Rue with its museum, covering their work from their first flight in 1909, make a visit a must. Convenient for visits to Crecy, also to Agincourt with its Museum to the Battle in 1415 (Henry V) just 30 miles away.

Review 90:Only a high velux in the room on the second floor. Shower door quite narrow: lucky we are not fat!

Review 91:Clean. Good bed. Great staff who advised us very well on the phone as we arrived late after a puncture on the motorway. Told us where we could have dinner at 9pm! Breakfast looked good but we skipped that and had a coffee and croissant in nearby café. Good position on waterfront with plenty of parking (meters in daytime).

Review 92:Would have liked tea making facilities

Review 93:Very stylish hotel. Immaculate throughout. Very comfy bed. Smart bar area. Beautiful situation facing the bay.

Review 94:The owners and staff of the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was excellent value with nearby restaurants and bars. Parking was only 3 euros for a day pass available from the hotel reception. Will definitely visit again and recommend to friend and family.

Review 95:Staff extremely friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and newly decorated. Breakfast was very good. Deserves a higher grading. We spent the following night in a higher grade hotel which couldn't compare in any respect.

Review 96:Our room on the top floow had only a velux window, so no view.

Review 97:Nice hotel in very good position on harbour. A lot of restaurants and bars nearby but the room was quiet. Good breakfast with attentive service.

Review 98:There were 2 families with 5 children, this hotel was great, we stopped here for 1 night, we were looking for some where close to Calais as we had done a long journey and this was a stop over on our way home, perfect destination, great views, and we found a great restaurant near the hotel right on the bend near the round about, lovely fish, great food and great with the kids, would definitely recommend the hotel and restaurant.

Review 99:There was some noise from the street during the night, on both nights, when the refuse collection was done. It was however very hot during our stay and we had our windows wide open.

Review 100:It was in a good location, right in the heart of things. The staff were friendly and the hotel spotlessely clean. Rooms were spacious and had all amenities even though we had the most basic rooms.

Review 101:Parking (pay-and-display) is very close but busy. The attitude of the staff (with one exception) was routine, mechanical and functional. This goes for the building too, which for the most part is a characterless box. The breakfast was OK but overpriced. In respect of the question below: if it means the town - yes; it it means the hotel - not really.

Review 102:The hotel is in an excellent position, looking out over either the harbour or the bay.

Review 103:The hotel does not have a lift.

Review 104:The location of the hotel is great with easy access to parking (payable) accross the road. The staff were welcoming and friendly. Good breakfast in the morning and a choice of restaurants nearby.

Review 105:Bathroom really tiny with hardly any place to dispose things. Shower a bit old and no place at all to put soap etc. Room (triple with velux) quite hot in warm weather with limited possibility to cool. Buffet breakfast OK but not fantastic.

Review 106:Staff (all) was lovely and extremely attentive to our needs. Great play area for young children in the lodge near the breakfast room (very convenient to have breakfast in piece). Family hotel with a very personalised welcome (only for that, we will certainly come back). Room (triple) of a reasonable size and clean. Excellent location with the seaside, restaurants and shops very close and parking facilities (at least in June).

Review 107:Nothing to do with the hotel but a teenager on an un-silenced moped who, without crash helmet, rode round and round the town until late evening, often down one-way streets. No-one did anything to stop him or complain. We complained of course because he kept us awake. We weren't madeither about the flood-lit car park between the hotel and the harbour, but at the price it was acceptable and the curtains were effective

Review 108:Excellent value for clean, well-equipped rooms plus convenient centrallocation close to harbour and restaurants. Well sound-proofed againstpassing traffic and car park. First class comprehensive buffetbreakfast.

Review 109:View of the Family Room is not the best point. Utilities are ok & clean but maybe too "simple".

Review 110:Staff were really particularely nice & breakfast is fairly good! Family room is very usefull when you have a child (2 separate rooms) & location is perfect if you want to stay at Le Crotoy. Hotel is quite and pet friendly.

Review 111:Room with harbour view, cleanliness of room, good breakfast and friendly staff. Would like to go again.

Review 112:Nothing not to like!

Review 113:Fabulous location. Clean modern hotel. Good breakfast. Lovely owners and staff.

Review 114:Staff wasn't over accomodating

Review 115:Rooms were clean

Review 116:No tea/coffee facilities in bedroom

Review 117:The adjoining rooms (family) Very clean Modern

Review 118:Location, friendly staff, easy parking

Review 119:Bright, clean modern hotel in a popular resort. Helpful and friendly staff.

Review 120:Very clean. Friendly staff

Review 121:Hot in room due to 2nd floor location

Review 122:Friendly staff

Review 123:lovely view of the Baie from our room (room 11) and a good spacious room. Breakfast was excellent

Review 124:It was perfect!

Review 125:The welcome! So helpful, friendly& patient.
