Reviews for Kidron House Hotel
Review 1:The only thing I think would've been handy would be a quick demonstration of how to work the sauna... Plainly because we have never used one before and struggled a little. Other than that, I have nothing bad to say at all.
Review 2:Fantastic stay in the exactutive suite. HUGE jacuzzi bath in room, and private access to a sauna and power shower on a landing not 5 ft away from your room. Very friendly staff, lovely wine, room was lovely spacious and clean, we stayed new years eve 2015 and were expecting a lot more noise than we heard considering the inevatible celebrations. Would defo come back.
Review 3:The rooms are upstairs, though not up too many steps. As two of our group have mobility problems, this caused a little inconvenience. The staff, however, were always willing to assist and went above and beyond.
Review 4:Friendly, efficient staff and really good food at both breakfast and dinner. The bus stop directly outside with easy access to Glasgow and Kilmarnock also made things accessible and convenient.
Review 5:Extremely helpful and friendly staff. Awesome hospitality! Felt at home always! Delicious food! Cozy and clean room everyday. Really LOVED my stay at Kidron House. Highly recommend to all!
Review 6:Mattress was shocking really old and clearly the cheapest one they could buy all the springs was sticking up, carpet in room badly stained, when I complained in the morning the young guy who runs the place said he would change the mattress and he did, nice friendly guy no complaints about him, was surprised there was a additional cost for breakfast would expect to be included in room rate
Review 7:Staff member that runs the place very friendly
Review 8:I choosed this hotel because in the information sheets it says there was a sauna, but there is no sauna for guests. Only 1 suite has a sauna (executive suite). The information is not correctly provided. I had a double room and in my room there were in total 3 beds. So 1 doble bed, 1 single and 1 bunk bed. So no space at all to walk and not comfortable at all. The location is outside the village.
Review 9:Clean room, tea set. Friendly staff
Review 10:The room wasn't particularly very big, there were no drawers or units in the room I could use to put my clothing into, so basically I had to live out of my suitcase, not good when your here for more than one night.
Review 11:The food was fine, good selection to choose from and staff were always happy to oblige with anything extra you required.
Review 12:Check out said they would forward our invoice by email but having chased them up on two occasions I am still waiting.. It was the weekend at the start of the rugby world cup 18th September so that's a month ago!!!
Review 13:Good food in restaurant Good bar and television
Review 14:We had the suite with the jacuzzi bath with the shower and sauna on the landing below. Would have much preferred a shower in the ensuite with the jacuzzi as an optional extra.
Review 15:The staff were friendly and helpful
Review 16:I was offered a free upgrade on arrival, the staff couldnt be more helpful and the evening meal and breakfast where 1st class. An excellent stay overall and will visit again.
Review 17:The twin room was basic and the en-suite was very small/cramped. The bedroom door opened directly onto the public courtyard.
Review 18:The Kidron House Hotel was conveniently situated for visiting family nearby. They had a room available at short notice.
Review 19:When we arrived we booked in and then told we were not in the hotel we were across the road in a guest house part. We then found out it was just a B&B went to make a cup of coffee which curdled then found out the UHT milk was 4 months out of date. Seems Kidron house uses the Hotel brochure to lure you in and then dumps you where ever they wish, this is a hotel to miss, try the Menzies or Premier inn much better value and in the same vicinity.
Review 20:Hotel part was nice but although thats what we thought we had booked they sent us across the road to a glorified guest house
Review 21:There was a lot of noise after midnight from an adjoining room, apparently from someone who had forgotten their key. The clientele seems split between couples and worker stop overs.
Review 22:It was available. The other places were full.
Review 23:No bad experience all,was ready and waiting for me on arrival
Review 24:Easy to park and find the location, central to,all my needs and easy access to all the surrounding area ,
Review 25:Nothing
Review 26:We had a free upgrade to a suite with huge jacuzzi, double shower and sauna. Would have happily paid the very small surcharge anyway for the superb facilities.
Review 27:The staff are so friendly and helpful, the executive suite was fantastic , absolutely loved the Jacuzzi and sauna. Ten out of ten for cleanliness and the food and drink delicious.
Review 28:Have spoke to hotel team with suggestions - not fair to discuss on this site, nothing major though. Team happy to work to improve.
Review 29:Meals were great value,
Review 30:Had room 13, quite compact. No hot water in basin and shower either too hot or cold, very difficult to control. Flow poor as well
Review 31:Good food, staff, location.
Review 32:it would be nice to have lunch snacks available on Sundays. The locks on our courtyard rooms were rather tricky.
Review 33:kindness of staff. quality of meals and very reasonable cost of them.
Review 34:Room a bit too small, no facilities for storage of clothes, only had an open style hanging rail. Shelve above but too high for me to reach.
Review 35:Breakfast ready at time stated each day.
Review 36:changing rooms after 1 night of 3 night stay from large comfortable room to small not so comfortable room which due to its location lacked privacy. Pity, because really nice place otherwise !!!
Review 37:Hotel was not clean and rooms were not comfy. Bed not clean, shower didn't work properly, sink overflowed. Wouldn't refund second night when we said we had to leave because of the problems
Review 38:Food poor, both dinner and breakfast. If this element could be improved, would have no hesitation recommending property.
Review 39:Staff friendly and courteous, helpful.
Review 40:My single room contained a double, single and bunk beds (to sleep 5) with little room between them. There was no bedside lamp, no bedside socket for phone charging and no shampoo. Shower gel was provided and an empty container remained in the shower from previous guests. Maybe the room keys work but I just could not lock my door no matter what way I tried.
Review 41:Friendly, welcoming staff Nice breakfast On site parking WiFi was free but intermittent
Review 42:Room size aproximately 7 foot by 10 foot, no soap and stained old ironing board in room, literaly you could not swing a cat, i left shortly after checking in and asked to be refunded
Review 43:Great accomadition very pleased with it all just a bit of a let down in village of dreghorn it's a bit run down .
Review 44:Excellent b&b lovely breakfast nice and comfy able
Review 45:No shelf/unit space in the bathroom or in the shower cubicle to store toiletries. Not enough hangers/no wardrobe
Review 46:The bed was very comfortable Lovely big shower room
Review 47:The gap in the door could see out an in the room 15 . An the jets in the jacuzzi kept putting out black stuff needs cleaned I think.
Review 48:Meals was lovely and great breakfast. An jacuzzi was amazing
Review 49:Our room faced the main road and was a little noisy with traffic but not unbearable.
Review 50:We stayed at kidron house for new years eve and new years day, we enjoyed lovely food and a comfortable clean room. Staff where very friendly and helpful, great with the kids too (10 yr old + 9 month old) Would definitely recommend, we have already booked up to stay again.
Review 51:Only small point is that the wardrobe was too close to the bed so only had a bedside table on on side of the bed
Review 52:Warm welcome, good location, very good breakfast, easy parking. Warm and clean. Good value for money
Review 53:Firstly the room we were given was freezing cold on arrival the restaurant and lounge area very small and the room we were eventually put in had no cups for a coffee, not orginized and not worth the money £49 room only
Review 54:Upgrade to a better more comfortable room There is not much more i liked about this hotel
Review 55:The bed was very comfortable but pillows far to thin so made it hard to sleep. 24 hour reception - Arrived back to hotel after long day shortly after 11. No one at reception an bar closed. Eventually got to speak to member of staff and asked for drink to take to room but refused !!
Review 56:Staff very friendly an place spotlessly clean.
Review 57:The room we were in had vey poor sound insulation and was right over the bar. There was a group of workmen staying who were enjoying themselves until the bar closed. It was just unfortunate that we could hear their conversations word for word. Not ideal when you have an early ferry to catch.
Review 58:Everything was clean and tidy. Feels homely. Reception staff were very friendly.
Review 59:Overall, our stay was superb. The only downside would be the location, it did require a car to get to and once you're there there's not much else to do without having to drive (except from the small town along the road which really only consisted of a shop and some pubs/takeaways). We were happy to relax in our sauna and jecuzzie though so this wasn't a problem for us.
Review 60:We'll start with the room, on first presentation simple but nice...open the mirrored wardrobe however and discover a huge jecuzzie bath! And after a long night soaking in the jecuzzie and sipping Prosecco, enjoy the super comfy bed and large tv. The private sauna and (huge) luxury shower are separate to the room, you do have to go down the stairs and into your very own private bathroom to which only you have a key (there is however a toilet in your room too). The sauna was marvellous as was the shower wth built in radio. The cleanliness was top notch and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. On realising we had brought our own alcohol one staff member placed glasses in our room for us without us even asking (just one example of the many courtesies we experienced). The food was also top notch and very affordable! We had dinner one night in the hotel, although we pre-ordered it we still had a bit of a wait for our food but it was well worth the wait! Our cooked breakfasts were also very good and prepared us perfectly for a long day of pampering. There is a small town just a short walk from the hotel where you will find a few pubs and takeaways if you want a change from the restaurant and bar in the hotel.
Review 61:Rooms in extension were Ikea beds - A bit small and the undersheets pulled out to leave me sleeping on bare mattress. Rooms in extension open straight to outside rather than to a corridor.
Review 62:Location Staff were friendly & Helpful. Breakfast tasty and well cooked.
Review 63:The ensuite in the single room was very cramped and poorly equipped. Cheaply furnished. No proper clothes hanging space, just a metal bar with a few elderly metal coathangers.
Review 64:The bathroom was on the small side and space for storing toiletries was inadequate. In the living/sleeping quarters space for storing every day items was limited, and a second chair would have been helpful.
Review 65:Everyone we met was courteous, attentive and happy to help, stop, and talk. The premises were very clean, well maintained and welcoming. Food was very good and always served piping hot, with a smile. In Dilip and Dinesh we found 2 charming young men who are excellent hosts and ambassadors for the hotel.
Review 66:We had 2 twin rooms. One was excellent the other disappointing. There was no warning that the courtyard room only had laminate floors (could be cold in the winter) and more importantly had 2'6" beds. Surely a problem for larger adults. It was almost impossible to fill the kettle because of the size and shape of the washbasin. Our other twin room was spacious and comfortable. and yet both rooms were charged at the same price: one was good value, the other overpriced.
Review 67:The hotel is in a very good position for overnight stops especially for ferry or flights. Both rooms were clean, the shower was good, the person at reception pleasant.
Review 68:Only downside was our room had no bath, which next time i would request.
Review 69:This hotel was one i look forward to using again, staff were friendly, and were able to advise us on bus routes to and from nearby town. Good food, and very clean. Overall just a lovely hotel with a bit of history to it!.
Review 70:Breakfast too late for business travellers 7:30. It should be 7:00 at least. No shelving in bathroom for toiletries which was a struggle.
Review 71:Very friendly staff. Good food. Clean and tidy.
Review 72:My Partner and I did a last minute booking through Booking.com. Onarrival we had a very warm welcome by a lovely wee Chap called Dhillip, who made our weekend break all worth the while from kitchen staff to theguys who cleaned our rooms where all fantastic. It was a great weekend. Our room included private Jacuzzi and sauna which was the icing on thecake. The Food and drink was great value and delicious. Will definitelybe going back again and we have already booked the hotel again.
Review 73:Did not like sleeping with head next to wardrobe and no bedside table. Mattress not particularly comfortable in room 11. A large group had all the other rooms in the manse building on the Saturday night and children were wandering in the early hours of the morning - not the hotel's fault but very annoying.
Review 74:Close to main road to Ayr where we had to be on three of our four days and had been unable to get accommodation in Ayr. Evening meals tastefully presented. Good wi-fi access.
Review 75:Disabled access was poor only a ramp up the main hotel. We had to walk across the road to get to this area as we were in a different house, all doorways had a step. The room was too full of furniture, it was a double room but had an extra bed in. No comfortable seat to sit other than the bed, the mattress was disgustingly dirty. And no mattress cover. We didn't realize this until the last day or we wouldn't have slept on it. The hand towel in the bathroom had a hole in it on the first day. And the towels although very clean, we're very thin. There is no access to the executive suite for disabled people as it is up a flight of stairs. The noise at night of people banging doors as they went in and out, we assume they were going out to smoke, the doors just banged very loud and made it difficult to sleep. I don't think the staff are responsible for the things I have complained about here.
Review 76:The food was excellent, well cooked and well presented. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location of the hotel was very good for access to Irvine and surrounding area. Easy parking for the car as I am disabled. We can't say enough about how good the staff were. They did put a comfy chair in our room on the last day. The staff helped me carry our luggage into the room and offered to load the car when leaving.
Review 77:Very expensive for the tiny bedroom and bathroom. WIFI didn't work and for a business traveller it is useless as there is no desk.
Review 78:Staff were pleasant and parking is easy and convenient.
Review 79:Staff seemed stretched for evening meal time, but meal good and reasonable. Not being able to stay for another two nights as already booked up. Car parking may be a bit of a squeeze sometimes.
Review 80:Cosy, warm hospitable.
Review 81:We arrived two minutes before 9pm, after a long journey on the motorbike so we were cold and wet. The restaurant shuts at 9pm but it was no trouble at all for the staff to take our food order so we could eat that night. It was really appreciated by us. Very friendly staff.
Review 82:A group of 17 were in the same building on our last night and there was a fair bit of noise and children running about till about 2.00am. It would have been better if they could have had that building to themselves! Other than that - nothing!
Review 83:Good location for a quick journey into Ayr each day of our stay (we had been unable to find a suitable hotel in Ayr itself). Dinner in hotel restaurant was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 84:Bedrooms small and basic, although everything we needed was provided. Would have preferred better quality mattress and pillows.
Review 85:Excellent location for getting into Glasgow and for the many local golf courses. Nice restaurant, bar, terrace. Good food. Fantastic staff who made sure that we were well looked after. Great shower.
Review 86:Good food in restaurant, friendly, hospitable staff (although some clearly overworked) and location convenient to my requirements as stop-over for End to End cycle ride.
Review 87:Don't really have anything bad to say about this place our stay was great
Review 88:Everything about the place right from the start the staff the room which was the executive suit and the meal it was all fantastic we will definitely be back
Review 89:Rooms claustrophobic and taking part of the room to put in an ensuite with a tiny shower was disappointing. We prefer a place with some ventilation and beds with room for 2. A second bedlamp for the off side would not have been a luxury.
Review 90:The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the meals were great.
Review 91:Our family room was rather cramped with an extra bed that we didn't need. The smell of food was ever present in our bedroom , not very pleasant at night. The quilts were winter tog, far too warm so I removed the covers and used the cover as a sheet.
Review 92:The staff were very helpful and polite, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was very good, especially the breakfast. The location was ideal for travelling to different places and the bus service great.
Review 93:Staff/ service / food excellent
Review 94:Noisy late night & early morn.
Review 95:Comfortable enough, clean.
Review 96:Friendly staff, comfortable room and good breakfast.
Review 97:Location
Review 98:Nice friendly quiet no faults whatsoever will be back
Review 99:Food excellent
Review 100:Food is excellent but a bit on the costly side
Review 101:there were 2 singles and a double bed in our room and not enough bedside tables
Review 102:the hotel was warm clean and comfortable
Review 103:Nothing really
Review 104:Food and staff
Review 105:Not a lot of atmosphere in the restaurant bar area
Review 106:Clean and tidy.
Review 107:Warm welcome. Clean comfortable room. Quiet location yet near to main road.
Review 108:Helpful staff who helped me with heavy bags and we're happy to fulfil my breakfast request. Great poached eggs. Nice quiet hotel comfy room

Review 112:Veryvfriendly and comfortable
Review 113:Lack of fuss. Prompt service.
Review 114:Limited choice for breakfast. Small bathroom. Soft mattress.
Review 115:It was quiet. The staff were friendly and the food was good.
Review 116:Staff were very helpful and friendly
Review 117:Hotel very clean and comfortable but short on atmosphere
Review 118:not a lot of room in the shower
Review 119:the food was good and hot
Review 120:The sink in the bathroom was blocked. Raised the issue with the staff but issued not resolved
Review 121:Customer service, facilities
Review 122:Very comfortable with helpful and friendly staff.
