Review 2：The room & hotel was of a very high quality & the staff were very helpful& printed off a map for me. Their advice made my plans much easier. I had the choice of floor of my room & there was also a lift which helped with luggage.The meals were home made & excellent. I would definately stay again.

Review 4：I booked this hotel purely on the basis of price, needing a cheapish overnighter after doing a few bibs and bobs in Exeter - for an overnighter it worked perfectly satisfactorily. Cheery welcome from the bubbly blond receptionist when I arrived - a quick signature and advance payment gave me my all-singing, all-dancing, contactless room keycard. I shunned the offer of the lift to the second floor and took the labyrinth route to find my room, only to find that my room didn't like the all-singing, all-dancing, contactless room keycard - red flashing light and beep-beep for me. Back through the labyrinth to reception where she apologised profusely, resetting the all-singing, all-dancing, contactless room keycard, as we both bemoaned all this new-fangled technology. It was obvious that the Torbay Court Hotel was in the middle of a major refurbishment, given that my room was smartly chic, with its fancy lighting and walk-in shower (with a choice of nozzles), but the rest of the hotel was in places a bit run-down and in other places semi-finished. So best that I don't comment further on that aspect except to say that if the rest of the hotel catches up with my room then it could be quite a stunner. Wi-Fi hadn't caught up either but that seems to be another work in progress.

Review 7：Tiny lift not able to carry people and luggage.Mattress in room very hard.I booked 3 single rooms but on arrival only a twin room and family room available so one of our party had to sleep up the road in a Bed & breakfast.Not at all satisfactory but no other alternative.Some rooms are being updated so may visit again when completed.

Review 9：We didn't have any bad experiences but if I had any negative comments to make is ,The attention to detail I noticed was poor in our room. Loose light fitting on wall and the chair in the bedroom had a loose leg and couldn't be sat on also I had to climb over the toilet to excess the shower over the bath (room badly designed).

The room was cleaned to a very high standard,the bathroom was clean and spacious.staff were very polite the breakfast and food served tasted great.lovely big portion sizes. Review 16：This hotel does not have wifi as per my booking confirmation and their web-site. Staff didn't care when I complained. Room had to be cleaned again. Wallpaper is falling off the walls and there are holes in the walls. Parking is a nightmare. Would never stay here again

Review 17：The first room we had smelt like someone had been sick on the carpets and we were moved to a better room which was fine apart from the location next to the kitchen where the staff were outside smoking therefore we could not leave the window open. The room was a disabled room and the bathroom had incredibly poor drainage for the shower resulting in the whole floor being wet and taking considerable time to dry. Guests were smoking in the entry to the hotel meaning you had to enter through a cloud of smoke. The breakfast experience was terrible with staff being so busy that all the small details were being missed such as water and juice being filled up. The quality of the coffee was atrocious along with the quality of the food. There are small simple changes that could be made in your hotel that would not cost you but have the potential to take you from mediocre to great instantly.

Review 19：Our room had just had some work done, as when we arrived the carpet in the bedroom was very wet, there was dust and bits of plaster? all over the sink unit and bathroom floor, as well as the shower area. We also found this on the bedroom carpet. Whilst we appreciate work was ongoing, we feel perhaps someone could have checked and cleaned the room before we arrived!

Review 27：The squeaky door hinge on the first floor main stairs/fire exit. Undercooked sausages for breakfast. One of the single beds had a very squeaky mattress so my wife and I had to swap beds the second night. Light didn't work in one of the bed lamps. The shower cubicle had a raised corner that could easily be tripped over. We had to leave a towel on the corner.

Review 28：The room was tidy. Loved the quantity of hot water coming from the shower head. Nice curtains. Smart bathroom. Friendly lady and waiters at breakfast time. They got our order correct with a few of changes. Fantastic :-)

Review 31：There was a lot of decorating going on in the stairwell which we were not informed of before our stay and the lift could barely fit 2 people and a suitcase. You would struggle to fit a wheelchair in. Reception was unstaffed when we checked in and when someone finally arrived they stopped to answer the phone 3 times while we were trying to get our key cards. Rooms were very very small. My sisters single was actually bigger than our double.

Review 42：Asked for room for 2 disabled people ,they were given a room on the second floor next to the lift ,which the Hotel felt would be helpful .The room had no disabled facilities at all ,so weekend totally spoilt for them ,no grab rails ,chest of drawers that were broken ,the draws dropped inside the frame when opened ,uncomfortable beds ,damp cold room ,you could smell mould when you entered the room ,the rest of the Hotel was very hot ,but this room no heating at all during this last cold wet bank holiday .The shower had no grab rails ,tiles on the floor which made it slippery when wet ,no raised seat on the toilet .In the other family room we had booked ,we expected the windows to have child locks on them and it was to my horror when our 2 small children opened the windows on the second floor and started talking to me when I was by my car ,their father who was in the shower heard them talking left the shower and closed the window .This hotel states they are disabled friendly but there is not even a disabled parking place so we had to walk from the car park which is situated at the back of the building to the front entrance .All of the issues raised were discussed with the Manager by telephone whilst we were staying there .,who told us it was a family birthday so she had the day off ,all issues were discussed by more than 1 member of our family with the assistant manager needless to say we did not get far there either ,we were told the disabled room situated by the front door had become empty that morning and our discussion was taking place at 5-30 pm in the evening .

Review 46：Bed was very thin and you could feel the springs, my daughters had a big dip in hers. the carpet did not look like it had been hoovered, but not the end of the world.There was no information in the room apart from what to do if there was a fire....no remote for TV, but eventually found out there is a toggle type switch underneath the TV.

Review 48：Hotel didn't book our friends room following booking confirmation from the web site, so double booked and didn't have another room. The whole of Paignton was booked due to the bike rally being held. My room was dusty on top of wardrobe (where I put my bike helmet) and a massive cob web in the corner. The cistern and bath were also dusty. The bed was quite comfortable but the pillows were awful. The room was small but ok for 2. I am a light sleeper but the walls are very thin and when my neighbour used the bathroom at 5am I could hear the extractor fan which was left on and I could hear the TV. In brief the hotel is very basic and needs attention to re-stick peeling wallpaper in passages & give it a good clean. The cooked breakfast was very basic. Our friend is vegetarian so they just gave him beans, egg, 1/2 tomato & 1/2 slice fried bread. Ours was quite tasteless & only had 1 sausage and 1 slice of bacon added to the above. Understaffed and the poor girl had to do everything. Difficult when trying to resolve a missed booking and others arriving to book in and serve the bar & the residents that wanted Tea/coffee. Review 64：There was no parking nearby, so had to pay for parking in public multi story Carpark that was accessed through a park and along a poorly lit public alleyway. Had to find this parking without any help from the reception staff. The room was poorly decorated, very dark as the lights were low wattage, the bathroom light blew during the night, so the morning shower was difficult. This is a coach party hotel, that was reflected in the food and entertainment, and piped corridor music.

Review 74：Lack of parking. There are only a few spaces at the front of the hotel and in a very small car park beside the hotel. We were lucky to find a place on the road right outside but only because someone was going. On road parking is very limited in the area.

Review 75：Reading some of the reviews, I was expecting the worse. Our room had been refurbished with new carpet, bed & bedding and furniture. The bathroom was older but it was clean, everything worked and the water was hot. Breakfast was good - buffet for juice, cereals and fruit juice. Hot breakfast cooked to order.

Review 76：Very basic and old, run down. At 75 gbp a night for double room way too overpriced for what you get. Only few parking places and some were wasted due to inefficient parking, staff didn't encourage guests to make space. Breakfast is extremely extremely basic even for a budget hotel. Shower is either boiling or ice cold, interior reminds of some old people's retirement home.

Review 82：Poor decoration and by this I mean wallpaper peeling off in various places, there was a bit of cardboard filling a window above my door, and the full english breakfast was only half a breakfast! I was given half a slice of fried bread, 1 small sausage, 1 piece of bacon, a fried egg and over half a plate of beans. I could of made a big difference if the food was better. To finish off I had a double room with no shower which I felt was poor as it takes a lot longer for a couple to get ready for a night our when both needing a bath.
