Reviews for Morag's Lodge

Review 1:Excellent staff, free parking, clean building and one of the most comfortable bed that I've seen in a hostel. Also loved the bar and the people there, had lots of fun.

Review 2:You remember 9600 dial-up modems? That was the speed of the internet connection. However, seen that there was a BT techincian messing with the wires, the problem might have been temporary.

Review 3:A good atmosphere, everything clean and new and perfect. The bar inside is a very good addition to the experience. Good breakfast at a good price. Great position - a minute walk from the town centre.

Review 4:I'm not really a hostel person, so it didn't particularly suit me, but I think it was good in its way.

Review 5:Good value hostel accommodation, helpful staff

Review 6:I thought that the breakfast was very basic. It would have been nice to have something hot as an option. No staff on hand to help. It would have been nice to have a kettle with tea making facilities in the dormitory.

Review 7:The bar was quite quirky.

Review 8:Potential room for improvement would be better wi-fi and a card machine at the bar.

Review 9:Great little place, very convenient and pleasant. Bar is probably most fun in all of Fort Augustus!

Review 10:The only regret was that there was no WiFi in the rooms and the connection at the ground floor was almost unuseable. As you travel you need to make online bookings, planning, etc.. And the breakfast to me was a little overpriced for was it is. 8£ for bread/jam/cereals/juice/coffee&#47- ;tea..

Review 11:Staff were great especially Giorgina who was there anytime we needed and was running the whole place almost on her own and was still smiling to anyone. Promise was clean and loss of space downstairs to relax. Room was enquire which is nice do not have to leave the room when taking a shower.

Review 12:It was a comfortable place to stay in with a beautiful location within the town. The staff was veey friendly and loved the small pub and the pub quiz.

Review 13:Nil really. Mixed clients although generally younger or coach trips, however it wasn't noisy and didn't feel crowded.

Review 14:Amazing value for money, comfy, clean, well decorated. We had our own en suite room. Amazing for under £60.

Review 15:Only downside was that wifi was limited because of the remoteness of the area.

Review 16:I stayed in a 4 bed dorm, very spacious and comfortable. Only one locker per bunk. Ensuite was great, handtowels were provided fresh each day. Breakfast was cereal and extras, and only £3.60 and the bar had a good selection and real local ales. Staff were friendly and helpful. . Overall, highly recommended.

Review 17:Poor wifi connection

Review 18:It was lovely and peaceful, helpful and friendly staff. Amazing power shower. Most accompanying considering we have an 11 month old baby!

Review 19:The breakfast could've had a little more selection. Internet extremely slow or not working at all.

Review 20:It's an amazing place for solo travelers, because there are a lot of other travelers and the Lodge has a bar and other facilities where you can hang out with other travelers. Although it was a bit noisy around the bar and lounge area, there was no noise where our room was, so we had a good sleep. Staff really polite and friendly. Aditional breakfast for a reasonable price. A lot of activities.

Review 21:WiFi only available in the lobby. You need to have your own towel. But at least the bathroom was in your room. I now realize that bunk beds aren't for me!

Review 22:The clientele was much younger than most of the places we had stayed and it was a pleasant change. Breakfast was buffet style and easy to get seconds on the things you liked and to avoid that blood pudding.

Review 23:The rooms were great, lots of space. The staff were friendly, we had a lovely welcome. The Kitchen was well equipped, and though we didn't have the breakfast or meal it seemed good value, and a lot of people were having it so I assume it's good. The bar was fun, lots going on, while we were there it was Karaoke one night, and a pub quiz the next. This doesn't go on too late for anyone who is worried that a bar will affect sleeping!

Review 24:I stayed here for three days in a nice room with four beds and a private bathroom (and enough plug sockets – what turned out to be a disadvantage of other hostels…). Loch Ness, the Caledonian Canal, the visitor information, a petrol filling station, Loch Ness Cruises, a bus station, several restaurants, and shops are in short walking distance which makes Morag’s Lodge a perfect hostel for exploring the Loch Ness area. After a few days on my own in the Highlands I was quite hungry for social interaction and I got well fed in the hostel’s bar ;-) A pub quiz and a bingo made sure that all guests got to know each other very quickly. It was really funny! Best of all was the very friendly staff. When I had a problem with the car for example everybody was very helpful. Thank you so much again!

Review 25:- quite loud in the morning (use ear pluggs if you want to sleep in)

Review 26:+ great location in Fort Augustus and at Loch Ness + big private bathroom when a private room is booked + comfortable beds + good continental breakfast at a fair price + you can book dinner at the hostel if you want to + free wifi + free tea/coffee + free parking + nice staff + a bar in the hostel where you can go for a drink at night (they sometimes have live music) + organized activities (e.g. Loch Ness Boat tours) + room names of famous Scottish people or places + self-service kitchen to cook your own meals

Review 27:Impersonnal The reception lady was not very welcoming nor helpful. The toilets flush of the William Wallace room was VERY noisy.

Review 28:Good location in Fort Augustus just a little out of the centre but just 5 minute walk from it. Nice and big place

Review 30:Great location. Lovely lounge with free wi-fi. Proper well stacked bar open until 1am. Comfortable bed. Great shower. Very friendly staff. Very useful information available. Juvial atmosphere. Great value for money.

Review 31:No TV. Salt had been put in hot water urn, we made flasks of tea to take on our journey but it was revoltingly salty so tipped it away, I don't know if it was accidental or a stupid prank

Review 118:Good value, simple but clean & tidy room; comfort & firm bed . We 're staying in the castle rooms that're in the next wing from the pub , quiet rooms. Good & cozy common area. Friendly staff

Review 119:I was surprised that there was not a single member of staff within the hostel during the evening check in: the staff only appeared at 8:45am the next day making an early start impossible. There wasn't a drying room either which after a day of torrential rain, made life a little interesting.

Review 120:Morags Lodge is a lovely wee place with warm, comfortable accommodation, good showers and plenty of space to relax in.

Review 121:As tourists we didn't realise that Lodge means Youth Hostel in the UK, and we were surprised to find ourselves in a communal kitchen with a bus load of "Wild and Sexy" Haggis Adventurers. They were all very nice, it just made us feel old!

Review 122:Friendly staff, clean room and ensuite, warm heater, good atmosphere in lounge and bar. Really quiet.
