Reviews for Marina Inn
Review 1:The bathroom attached to the room was huge, so it was a shame that there wasn't a bath.
Review 2:Room was big, lovely and clean. Right on the coast, just a shirt walk to a little beach.
Review 3:Double bed mattress was horrific and awful needs replacing badly. Not ideal for families as noise from other guests when moving around and banging doors was shocking.
Review 4:It was close to town centre, beach, swimming pool. There was nice places of interest nearby but we didnt go as we had our own plans.
Review 5:Dull room with two single beds, brown carpet and a very dated mirrored wardrobe. Think this is more suited to a working man as there was a fridge and microwave at the end of one of the beds and right next to the other bed was the sliding toilet door, but if you are just after a room to lay your head with no frills or luxury then the Marina inn is perfect.
Review 6:Lovely view from the room window. Good location for us to visit family nearby and really as far as the room is concerned you get what you pay for, not great but not bad !!!
Review 7:Not much space in the room, but all necessary things available. Great price. No staff on hand, but no need for them, and anyway phone contact was available if required.
Review 8:Great position, next to Arts centre with late opening restaurant. Looks like it's a pub, but it isn't, and it's very quiet!
Review 9:room was bit small and bathroom shower didn't work first night or the lights in room and bathroom.
Review 10:Perfect location! Staff were helpful and friendly.
Review 11:We had a ground floor room next to the front door and were disturbed several times during the night by smokers going outside for a 'health break'. They lit up just outside our window, to add to the insult! Ask for a top floor room if you don't like smoke!
Review 12:The location on the harbour front and close to the historic Ship Inn and maritime museum was really good. Room small but comfortable with good shower and toilet.
Review 13:The hotel was unmanned, and not at all good. No breakfast amenities. The bed had been slept in before and smelt of men's aftershave. Not a good experience.
Review 14:The fact the wifi wasn't working or even turned on. The promised snowballs weren't anywhere to be scene. The room had animal hair in it to which I'm allergic to as well as my "friend" which caused discomfort.
Review 15:How simple check in and out was, no hassle at all. Clean. Nice view!!
Review 16:I never saw any staff, the e-mailed instructions were wrong, I was told room key would be inside the door of room 3, after trying unsuccessfully to gain entry to the room I phoned the contact number on the e-mail to be informed that in fact room 5 was allocated to me.
Review 17:Location was ideal
Review 18:There is no reception, just a list of phone numbers which don't answer. Walked straight in to the hotel corridor, which stank heavily of cleaning chemicals. I think it may have been a saving grace to manage to avoid the place in the end, despite the 20mile drive to the next available hotel.
Review 19:Didn't actually manage to stay there.
Review 20:Staff very nice rooms were clean and comfortable great location, very quiet great value for money,we will definitely use these premisses again, thank you for a lovely stay
Review 21:Found it a bit strange that there were no staff to engage with at all. Tried the phone twice, and called at the Harbourside reception, but there was no one there. Not a problem as such. Would stay again.
Review 22:Liked that we were close to the railway station, because we wanted to travel to Troon and enjoyed location & quiet area. Liked the price! Nice shower!
Review 23:No staff based at the hotel. Towels were threadbare and sheets had seen better days. Beds were not comfortable.
Review 24:Convenient location and fridge/microwave was a bonus. Good value for money.
Review 25:A very small room no chairs just the beds and no room for any chairs noisy when others came in at 1am in the morning booked 2 nights only stayed 1
Review 26:Very handy for local amenities
Review 27:There's lots of room in the bathroom - a small table or shelves in there would have been really useful.
Review 28:Having a fridge, kettle and microwave in the room. Being left to just get on with our holiday.
Review 29:Facilities are getting old, toilet bowl malfunctioning.
Review 30:Difficult to address the personel - never had a chance to meet one. Office hours are simply too short, virtually non-existant during weekends. Still, it says a lot about good organization since people manage. Nice calm location if you just want to spend a night during your trip.
Review 31:shower needs to clean off mould at bottom shower door needs attention so it shuts bathroom door needs the same water hammer on pipes hot and cold taps loose and cold constantly runs beds need changing as the rock about and headboard bangs the wall would be great with TLC
Review 32:wi-fi good plenty tea and coffee water hot tv good good value
Review 33:The fridge was dirty and smelling also the beverages were never replenished bathroom sink was very small too also the heating didn't work at all during the 3 night stay
Review 34:Noisy fridge - otherwise nothing
Review 35:Great location, spacious room/bathroom, plenty of places to eat close by, easy parking plus leisure centre 5 mins away
Review 36:We didn't see any staff on day of arrival and I still had to pay the balance on 2nd day the housekeeper approached us to say our bank account had been declined to which I had to go explain that we were paying cash, also there was no dvd player in room as stated in description which is one of the things we would have done at night time when we got back to the inn, the toilet made a racket when flushed which was a total nightmare during the night!
Review 37:We liked the location which was what we were looking for
Review 38:Left message for staff to contact me re booking. Did not contact me. Room was dirty. Paintwork poor and dirty. Toilet dirty, shower dirty, fridge door handle broken. Stains from who knows what on carpet. No plug for sink, sink cracked. Very noisy. Toilet flush not working properly. Bed linen not ironed. Very grubby. Did not feel safe. Mattress needed replacing. Whole place felt dirty. Welcome pack was cheap shortbread. Tea bags were loose and god knows what they contained.
Review 39:Absolutely nothing. It was very very poor. Don't know who writes their complimentary reviews. Room 5a.
Review 40:Although I made a reservation on the net through booking.com, our host apparently did not receive the reservation so there were some insecure moments, but finally we were given a room!
Review 41:The place was clean, the beds were comfortable, the water was hot.
Review 42:Bathroom was filthy! Mold on walls and mildew in grout in shower. Dirty walls throughout room. Very uncomfortable bed.
Review 43:Tea in room with kettle, microwave, fridge, TV and free wi-fu
Review 44:Andy and Carmen were very helpful. We enjoyed the hotel and location very much as a starting point for our tandem bicycle ride through Scotland and England with an easy connection by bus and rail from the Glasgow airport. Great local flavor cafes and restaurants closeby.
Review 45:Our room was dark, dirty and smelly the pillows and duvet were brown with stains also don't think carpets had been hoovered. The bathroom was smelly with damp and could do with a good overhall!!!!!!
Review 46:The lady (think her name was Carmen) was very nice and helpful could not fault her. Closeness of shops etc
Review 47:Room was a bit cramped for a family of four and the walls were thin so there was quite a lot of noise from the other rooms.
Review 48:Good value, and very close to the beach. Comfy beds & good amenities in the room - microwave, fridge freezer, kettle. Clean, great location and ideal for a short stay.
Review 49:Very cold bathroom and weak shower water flow. Very uncomfortable bed. Thin walls - you can hear everything.
Review 50:Great facilities - big fridge, microwave, TV, etc. Warm room. Great scenery and location. Shortbread on the tea service tray :-)
Review 51:Arrived at about midnight. No light bulb, no heating - it was actually freezing, mattresses are subbing with its springs
Review 52:The stuff is very friendly and helpful (Spoke to them over the phone)
Review 53:I was a bit late and wasn't aware of the set up as it is rooms only, with no-one to answer the door, however the person was at the end of the mobile number written on the door.
Review 54:I enjoyed that the room was so cosy and I was left to my own devises coming and going as I pleased.
Review 55:Being woken up & told by someone the room required to be paid for @ 7:45 on a Sunday morning the day the clocks had gone forward an hour.
Review 56:Information e-mailed in advance
Review 57:the room was too cold even with the radiator on .. no heating in the bathroom at all and the radiator was turned off sometime during the night .. woke up frozen
Review 58:the price was great and we would stay again in summer
Review 59:It was no heating after 8pm. Room was cold as hell on the night time. Beds are very unconfortable. It's not possible to use fridge, it's too loud for sleeping.
Review 60:Arrived out of hours to find my pre-boked room already occupied. I was verbalky abused for simply attemting yo eatablish why someone was in the room i had booked. The out of hours contact number inhad been given would not answer the phone deapite several attampts and voicemails left. After sourcing a secondaey comract number i was finnaly sorted another room, although f4om atart to finnish it all took an hour and mostly due to my own doing.
Review 61:Nothing at all. In fact i actually liked leaving the place.
Review 62:The walls are VERY thin. Not anything the staff can do anything about, but clearly passions were running high next door!!!
Review 63:We were down for an event in the Magnum centre which is right outside the hotel. The HAC was right next door with the Ship inn, so brilliant food!
Review 64:Bathroom was little "Slim"
Review 65:First Classic view over the harbour and surrounding area, lovely ambiante!! Very friendly reception on the phone as we called in Late and I forgot my door Code, Thanks Andrew!!
Review 66:needs a mirror in bedroom in the bedroom downstairs room 8. struggle to do hair when mirror in bathroom
Review 67:it was convenient as we were there for a party. andy the owner sorted taxis as well. very basic rooms but ideal for all of us.
Review 68:Longish walk from train station w heavy luggage. Pack light or have sturdy wheels for stone and brick sidewalks.
Review 69:Close to Auchengate Camp and other locations, e.g., particular pubs, my father became familiar with in 1942-43. Close to heritage Centre in Saltcoats for microfiche of Local newspapers. Close to many other amenities.
Review 70:Couldn't speak in person to member of staff (went to office twice). Only found how to get hot water for shower by good luck. Fridge by bed is rather noisy . Dripping tap (not really loud:-) Loose connection for plug in wall.
Review 71:The view from the window, and being able to walk out onto the harbour front.
Review 72:cleanliness beds facilities no heating at property no hospitality tray as described no staff present more like a run down hostel than a welcoming place to stay we are from Irvine and were shocked that this accommodation is even listed on booking.com, don't go there!!
Review 73:Location was good for our family party
Review 74:We only stayed for 20 mins , room 5a had a dirty tena lady pad in the wardrobe, bed covers were stained, room was very smelly, walls, Doors and carpet were all dirty, mirror was smashed and curtains were hanging off the pole!! My list could go on, it was awful!!!
Review 75:Nothing
Review 76:No mattress protectors on beds Lack of access to plug sockets and only one small mirror in bathroom
Review 77:Price Secure hotel Very easy to find No problems with parking
Review 78:The room was cold , and there was no way to turn on the heating , that was our only complaint , would recomend this to friends
Review 79:I liked the location of the marina inn , the room was basic but very clean ,
Review 80:the room was next to the front door so there was a lot of banging with people coming and going, the toilet is at the window with no blind and directly on a pavement , it felt like people could see you when the light was on
Review 81:location was good, room was clean and well stocked with tea, coffee, milk and shortbread, microwave and fridge were very handy
Review 82:Ensuite right next to bottom of bed wasnt major issue but the privacy would be nice lucky it was the wife with me
Review 83:Wasnt bothered by staff which I was worried about cos I am a very private person
Review 84:Great formula, all was pre-arranged with access code given via email. Room was clean and quiet, with fridge, microwave, private bathroom. Good location. Excellent value for money.
Review 85:Made a call to the owner the day before arrival as I had read that I'd need a code for entry. I hadn't received the email with details from booking.com No problem. Details given and when he realised I was travelling overnight he made arrangements for his housekeeping staff to clean my room first. On arrival I met those same staff who were by now on other rooms but came to check all was OK for me. Lovely friendly ladies. Andy and his team do credit to the reputation of Scottish hospitality while being unobtrusive. The location just a few minutes walk from the train station (and I'm not the fittest but it's all on the level) is wonderful. My twin room had lovely views over the harbour. I had the added bonus of the harbourside festival with lovely local traditions. You only get that if you come at this time of year though.I was on the 1st floor which is accessed by a staicase at the back of the property. Very easy to find and NOT dodgy as described by someone else. Everything you need in the room including iron, hairdryer, microwave and fridge. The Ship Inn 2 doors down has amazing food. I wanted to pay with a different card than I'd booked with and Andy was happy for me to call the office on Monday to do this as the office is closed at the weekends. Real personal service. Budget hotel but excellent service.
Review 86:Building is very shabby and in dire need of some cosmetic work. Outside of the building looks desperate. Was afraid of what was growing on the walls in our bathroom. Strange musty smell in the room. The walls of the rooms are paper thin and could hear every movement of the other guests.
Review 87:Fridge and microwave in room were beneficial.
Review 88:Doors banging, thin walls. Bike hire was a mistake as the tandem broke 2 miles into ride. Lack of room, cramped with 2 adults and 2 children (aged 7 and 9).
Review 89:Close to beach on one side, shops on the other. Fresh towels every day. Quick free wi-fi service. Fridge and microwave.
Review 90:ground floor rooms suffer from door banging due to inconsiderate guests not closing the security door quietly. bed linen and towels tried. Brown towels not my preferred choice as you cannot see if they are clean, white would have been better.
Review 91:Quite location on the harbour front. Free Wifi. Booking arrangements were emailed with key code for outside door and key left in room, as their does not appear to be anyone on site, at least I didn't see anyone, but no problems were experienced. No site parking but ample free on street parking. Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby.
Review 92:The rooms need to be cleaner. Quite dusty. Drawers and wardrobe dusty.Fridge could be cleaner. Towels (some ) very old . Paint peeling in some areas. Ensuite shower and toilet very small. Glass shelf above a very small sink got in way of washing .Uncomfortable bed.No room service really , only daily clean towels and bin emptyied. So when staying for a few days the room was not cleaned.
Review 93:Location , near to harbour and beach, train st. and shops and restaurants . Plus to have a fridge and microwave in room plus free bike hire.Able to make own breakfast and pack lunches.Reasonable price.Ironing board and hairdryer available.
Review 94:The shower was a bit unpredictable going from very hot to quite cold and the flow wasn't very good. The paintwork wasn't brilliant, it looked like damp had got under it in the shower room.
Review 95:Cheep & cheerful. Everything we needed as a base for our travels into Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games. Towels were changed every day. Tea and coffee facilities provided along with a fridge and microwave. For what we paid we can't complain.

Review 102:Bathroom big in comparison to actual room. Extra room would have beenuseful for beds.
Review 103:Close proximity to train station shops and pub. Facilities in room I.eiron, microwave, fridge/freezer. Really good idea for late arrivalsto have code entrance. Excellent value for money and had reallycomfortable stay
Review 104:No staff, code on door to gain entrance, no facilities other than in the room, considerable noise from other travellers trying to gain entrance late at night.
Review 105:It provided clean comfortable accommodation in a nice waterfront setting at a reasonable price for the area. Even coffee/tea and biscuits provided.
Review 106:DVD player didn't work in rooms, and bins were so small.
Review 107:Free bike hire. Close to beach, leisure centre and park. Lovely view from second floor rooms.
Review 108:The beds were not very comfortable, and because room no 10 is next to the front door, it was noisy
Review 109:The fact that we had an en-suite bathroom, a fridge AND 'n microwave oven!

Review 119:Cracking big clean room
Review 120:Great location, even better value for money.
Review 121:The staff were very welcoming
Review 122:Run down property. Completely unstaffed. Poor physical condition. Cramped. Electrics dangerous, light fittings not working. Unsecure room.
Review 123:All of the above. Didn't really see staff apart from a cleaner in the morning but that was doe to us checking in late.
