Reviews for Pebbles Guest House
Review 1:Lovely welcome despite our late arrival...and an upgrade as well ! Wonderful suite, great views. Couldn't fault it...best we have been to for a long while.
Review 2:Nothing !
Review 3:Excellent value. Really friendly, wonderful breakfast with several different sorts of fruit as well as cereals and full cooked if wanted. All the decor, linens etc are brand new giving the place a lovely clean fresh feel.
Review 4:Lovely room, really nice breakfast, parking could have been a problem but we were ok. Think someone said there was a car park close by. Nice little touches, jelly babbies in room.
Review 5:Very warm welcome when we arrived, free upgrade of our room, nothing was too much trouble when we asked for a lighter breakfast(only because we are not big eaters in the morning.
Review 6:Nothing bad
Review 7:We had a suite with enclosed balcony. Part of the adjoining Oaks property. Comfy, warm and what a stunning view of the sea, boats and pier. Good breakfast too.
Review 8:Shower room bit restricted for older person. Shower drop down trough too near toilet.
Review 9:Room really clean and nicely furnished. Staff very pleasant and friendly.
Review 10:The staff were really friendly and tried to make sure I was comfortable, very clean environment, comfortable rooms and to top it all up the breakfast was superb.
Review 11:Everything was really clean, first impressions of the Owner on arrival was very welcoming ,the room was well furnished & warm, water hot in a lovely en suite ...Beds comfortable & well prepared tea/coffee tray
Review 12:Nothing
Review 13:A lovely guesthouse in a great location. Owners Kerry & Nick go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Breakfast is great!
Review 14:Having to give my credit card details over the phone after submitting them to Booking.com already. Having numerous calls from the hotel regarding expected arrival time, after already providing that information.
Review 15:Great room, bed and location. Didn't try breakfast as only available up to 9.30am.
Review 16:Overall a fantastic experience! The couple that own and run this guest house are extremely helpful, welcoming and kind. I look forward to returning next year and will be bringing my wife!
Review 17:A great service which the larger chains are unable to offer.Very high standard rooms and additional services (parking and Wi Fi and booking terms).Martyn Blackford (Latitude Training)
Review 18:The noisy neighbor with the TV cranked up almost full volume through the night from the wall facing me from the bed.
Review 19:Very clean and tidy house. Friendly and welcoming staff made everything clear.
Review 20:Cold at night despite turning up radiator. Soft pillows. Toast very thin and served before tea and fruit course. Cooked breakfast served before fruit finished
Review 21:Cleanliness, proximity to sea/estuary Good selection of fruits at breakfast
Review 22:Parking was a problem. No space on-road, and the public off-road parking was almost full, but very muddy (due to the rain), being rough surfaced.
Review 23:Nice welcome. Tastefully decorated and comfortable room. Good breakfast with quality ingredients.
Review 24:Just perfect. Even though I advised late arrival, I was very welcome. Extremely nice and comfortable room, with tea and coffee facilities and nice breakfast room.
Review 25:At least a mile from the main town centre, but I knew that beforehand and not bothered as I like walking. Enjoyed the walk back from the town, along the sea-front, with chips in hand.
Review 26:Sea-front location. Friendly staff, helpful if needed. Excellent Wi-Fi connection in the room. Good supply of tea\coffee and water in the room and a sea view too. Enjoyed the breakfast too, lovely well-lit breakfast area. Perfect for me as a solo traveller, so cannot comment about family rooms. Would stay again.
Review 27:We had difficulty connecting to the wifi - could just have been the fact we were on the top floor though.
Review 28:Our room was comfortable, with a lovely view over the seafront, although the bathroom was quite 'cosy'. The breakfast was a real highlight and Nick was a very friendly, and informative, host.
Review 29:Beautifully presented accommodation, spotlessly clean with welcoming hosts I stayed in room 4 with the balcony, of which part of it was integrated in the room, therefore the views could be enjoyed no matter what the weather
Review 30:That we could not stay longer and so will return
Review 31:The greeting was excellent. The guest house and room were decorated to a high standard .The breakfast was excellent.
Review 32:We were fine but if you were " big" or tall or even slightly disabled the bathroom in our room ( on the top floor) would have been a problem. This is constructive criticism. We had an excellent stay.
Review 33:All good for us
Review 34:Nothing. Book this place!
Review 35:Warm welcome, clean room, pristine white sheets, sea view, hot tasty breakfast with choice of hot breakfast items plus fresh fruit yoghurt, good location.
Review 36:This is pretty nit-picky but the breakfast room was a little cramped, would suggest in potentially changing to some small bits of furniture, especially the chairs. As comfy as they are, they are far too big with the amount of tables in the there and makes it difficult to get in-between tables when it's busy.
Review 37:Not a moan, just personal taste, a wonderful, good sized breakfast presented on the tiniest plate. Would've preferred to eat from a normal sized dinner plate. Pet hate, food crammed onto a small plate! 10 out of 10 for the food though
Review 38:We have stayed in countless hotels and guest houses over the years, pebbles is definitely up there in the top five. Wonderful hosts, great breakfast, peaceful nights sleep , tasteful, thoughtful decor and absolutely spotlessly clean. Even 'fresh' milk provided for the bedroom tea tray, not to mention the lovely touch of a jar of jelly babies !!! Wonderful
Review 39:Breakfast could have been served later but that's just me. Not a real problem and a breakfast well worth getting up for. Thanks to all the staff.
Review 40:The welcoming friendly staff, comfort of room and location away from the town and yet a pleasant walk into all the attractions.
Review 41:The selfish, foul mouthed drunken couple in the room directly above us.
Review 42:Great room with a lovely comfy bed. I loved the efficiency of the staff at breakfast. Many places could learn from pebbles. Not forgetting the jelly babies great touch.
Review 43:Nothing it was just lovely.
Review 44:The beautiful room and view from the outside balcony with lovely comfy rattan furniture looking out at the sea and stars was just perfect. Stayed up half the night just to enjoy the view and relaxed on the sunbed in the early morning sun. The helpfulness and hospitality we received was second to none.
Review 45:ONLY BAD EXPERIENCE WAS IT WAS A LITTLE NOISY BUT AS OUR ROOM WAS AT FRONT IT WAS TO BE EXPECTED.
Review 46:WE LIKED EVERYTHING. EVERYONE WAS FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. THE ROOM WAS VERY CLEAN AND TIDY THE FACILITIES WERE EXCELLENT.
Review 47:The only fault we could find was the safety pin holding the bottom of the quilt cover together!
Review 48:Really friendly hosts and staff, very comfortable bed and a lovely touch was the jar of jelly babies on arrival!
Review 49:Couldn't get to wifi consistently
Review 50:Beautiful room, and setting, very welcoming owner and staff, spotlessly clean, cute little touches, like jelly babies!
Review 51:Fantastic B&B. Our room was beautifully furnished and turned out, with some lovely little touches like a bottle of water, nice biscuits and a jar of jelly babies!! This is by far the nicest B&B I've ever stayed in.
Review 52:Bathroom / toilet a bit small.
Review 53:The King-size bed was an unexpected pleasure! & the breakfasts were excellent & substantial as were the proprietors
Review 54:The view and location were beautiful. The room was clean, and the bed very comfy. The sheets were awesome. The breakfast was delicious and the cozy dining room was beautiful. Also, we really appreciated the thoughtfulness of the owners, from helping us to connect with British relatives to checking in, to checking out and advice about routes onward. This was our first (as Americans) B&B experience, and it was great!!
Review 55:Family friendly warm an home like the owners where away but they had family looking after the home an they was absolutely amazing my kids fell in love with them had such a good 4 day break x
Review 56:Spacious front bedroom with a large balcony overlooking the Thames estuary. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. On bus route to the pier and town centre or within easy walking distance.
Review 57:The street was a but noisy outside in the night but the comfort of the room made up for it.
Review 58:My room had a beautiful view and was very very clean. The owner was very nice and helpful.
Review 59:Having such a short stay. Speed camera across the road ruined the tranquil view
Review 60:Loved the room and having the balcony to relax on day or evening with sea view.
Review 61:A nice location and very clean. The staff was very helpful and polite. The service was excellent and will visit again. I recommend Pebbles Guest House. The room was very comfortable.
Review 62:This was our second stay at Pebbles. Cannot fault anything. Absolute pleasure to stay there. The owners are brilliant - always there to help. Really clean, Breakfast delicious. Really had a lovely stay.
Review 63:Staff very friendly. Lovely big balcony. Nice finishing touches (jelly babies!). Loved the little pictures around the place & the little phrases.
Review 64:towels and shower mat not changed on second day was this an oversight or was it because we hung them up in the bathroom and continental rules apply for not changing towels if hug up!
Review 65:Lovely quite location friendly staff extremely clean wonderful short break would recommend and would stay there again good value for money
Review 66:There is nothing to dislike, Its a twenty walk to the centre of Southend so if your not a walker theres a bus stop right outside.
Review 67:Its position on the beech.
Review 68:Nothing at all, loved everything. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Review 69:The Guest House was fantastic, superb location, loved the decor, very comfortable beds. The owners were very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was delicious.
Review 70:Nothing not to like !!! 100% satisfied
Review 71:This is a lovely, homely, welcoming B&B in Thorpe Bay, 15 minutes walk to Southend pier so location nice & quiet. Would suit families, couples and friends. We will defiantly be back. First floor suites with the sea view are stunning, decor & furnishings to a high standard. Breakfast was tasty & the fresh fruit was most welcome. 5 stars all the way.
Review 72:Balcony with great view. Clean and modern furniture but in keeping with the property. Very quick service at breakfast. Quality ingredients. Enjoyed the fruit available (strawberries, blueberries, plums). Friendly welcome. Good advice about local restaurants.
Review 73:There was nothing not to like about this place.
Review 74:Stayed in Room 4 which was on the front with a balcony, it was well worth that little extra. Breakfast was really good. The place was spotless.
Review 75:Only thing was the rooms get quite hot but I think they are planning to install air con! Would of loved a little fridge too to put our babies bottles of milk in
Review 76:The bed was huge and very comfy! The breakfast was very nice and the location was great!
Review 77:Not staying for longer, not enough jelly babies
Review 78:No hassle booking, lovely room...superb breakfast and lovely welcome from Keri after saying we would be early arriving....
Review 79:Nothing to complain about
Review 80:Perfect guesthouse. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely friendly staff. Very comfy beds and everything in the room you could possibly need. Breakfast was yummy too.
Review 81:We could have done with more towels
Review 82:The location is fabulous, especially if you have a room facing the waterfront. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was fantastic. The owners and all staff were very friendly and always ready to help.
Review 83:The bathroom was a little too cramped for our liking, but functional.
Review 84:We had a sea-view room and it was well worth the extra. Staff were great and breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice.
Review 85:Although it was an overall very positive experience, I must say the breakfast waitress came across as a little patronising, if not downright rude, towards guests who did not speak English. In a four star establishment staff should be able to communicate with International guests without showing signs of impatience.
Review 86:The room was lovely and comfortable. The manager had a warm welcoming approach, and the morning eggs were cooked to perfection.
Review 87:New and inviting decor, spotlessly clean, comfy bed, good sized room, excellent breakfast with fresh fruit as well as full English. Manager also kindly allowed me to come back and change after a funeral before I drove home. Highly recommended. Great value for money too.
Review 88:Room not serviced after first night. After pointing this out, the owner immediately apologized and replaced the tea etc. but we were rather surprised that this could happen!
Review 89:Lovely breakfast, friendly staff
Review 90:Grumpy landlady who was very put out that I arrived at 2.30 despite having advised her beforehand as requested during the booking process. After travelling on a train for 4 hours to get there, I could have done without being told 'Oh, you just caught me'... What would have happened had I been 5 mins later, I wonder. Not very welcoming and I will certainly not be staying there again.
Review 91:location
Review 92:2 flights of stairs to the room which was small & compact but got everything in.The shower was a bit tight for a large man but the towels were super- soft, clean & white.
Review 93:Comfortable room with TV, tea making facilities and water.
Review 94:The room had a sea view and was really bright and airy. We phoned the night before to say we would be arriving around 3 pm so the room was ready for us, usual check in time is 4pm.com
Review 95:There is nothing that we did not like at this B & B
Review 96:The owners are very friendly. The facilities are clean with everything you need for your stay. This was our second visit and it will not be our last.
Review 97:Only downside"..........stay not long enough
Review 98:Jelly babies and free water, hot drinks. Rooms are immaculate, well presented and the breakfast fantastic. I sat away on business 4 days a week all over the country and this is one of my favourite hotels
Review 99:This was the second time I have stayed here & both times it was 1st class. Have stayed at a few other places when I couldn't get in here & there was no comparison. This is the only place to stay in future.
Review 100:view from my window was gorgeous, location was close to everything, people were incredibly friendly and helpful! It was just the sort of hotel I was hoping to get:)
Review 101:Absolutely nothing
Review 102:Really friendly and attentive hosts, top class breakfast, lovely bed, great facilities, very clean- lovely views and location. Highly recommended !!
Review 103:A bit down on the quality of food at the breakfast table. Quite bland and obviously low end products.
Review 104:Right on the sea front. Clean Tidy and Friendly. Definitely worth a revisit. Owners and staff were lovely.
Review 105:The two single beds had duvet's which were to small for the beds?
Review 106:Good size bedroom with en-suit well fitted out with hair dryer and tea/coffee facilities. The breakfast was very good above average and had free car parking near by.
Review 107:Mattress was too soft for my back but that's just my preference. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 108:Great location rooms clean very helpful staff and food was very good.
Review 109:minor works being made outside. Was woken up a few times in the morning by machinery being used. It did not ruin our stay though.
Review 110:Decor, service, bed, room facilities and that it was always cosy.
Review 111:The shower in our room was too hot and we couldn't get the heat on it down at all
Review 112:The room we stayed in was lovely, the breakfast in the morning was fantastic with lots of variety on offer and so many different styles of chopped fresh fruit in a lovely setting. Good location too, not too far from the town centre.
Review 113:Helpful staff, amazing bed (it was enormous and really comfortable), lovely breakfast and even though the house was full we never heard any of the other guests.
Review 114:really clean and comfortable facilities, great view of sea, parking outside easy and free, breakfast great - good choice, freshly cooked, wifi easy, neat touches in room
Review 115:The only thing that i struggled with was that i had a lot of luggage and i was unable to park near the guest house. The car park that i eventually found was free of charge and only a five minute walk but that is a lot when you have lots of things to carry.
Review 116:My daughter and her boyfriend stayed here as a treat for valentines. They loved the whole experience. The room was clean, pretty n the balcony ( although a bit chilly for February) gave them fabulous views over the estuary. The most important thing for this young couple was breakfast. Absolutely gorgeous was their response! They plan to return in the summer.
Review 117:Could hear the next door neighbour when they used the cloakroom or wardrobe.
Review 118:Staff were helpful with sites to see, good knowledge of town, recommended places to visit and where to eat. Breakfast was very nice, a varied choice, location close to the town. Good views. Would stay again.
Review 119:Bed was a Little short so having a base on the bottom meant getting feet caught in it during the night
Review 120:Made welcome and lovely homely feel breakfast very good and helpful local knowledge
Review 121:The plates were to small for the breakfast the portions were good but the food was hard to cut up due to the smallness of the plates.tables could be a bit bigger not enough room for everything on the table cluttered.
Review 122:Overall it was all good
Review 123:Very comfortable bed and nice hot shower. Excellent breakfast with a wide choice of cereals, fruits, yogurt and hot food. Best of all, my egg was poached to perfection!!
