Reviews for The Park Hotel

Review 1:The break was over too quick.

Review 2:The staff were friendly and attentive. They went out of their way to provide me with a room that suited my infirmity. We will return for more pampering!

Review 3:The entire hotel needs upgraded to attract the number of guests it deserves.

Review 4:The food and staff were five star rating and we have stayed quite a few five star rated hotels!

Review 5:Plastic shower curtain that wrapped around you while taking a shower.

Review 6:Staff were very friendly and attentive. Breakfast choice was good. Room was comfortable although I thought I was getting a dbl bed got a sgl but it was comfy.

Review 7:Everything was okay. Na

Review 8:The staff was very very friendly and helped me route my way to the isle of bute and printed me off a route to take. The rooms where very clean and the the food was decent

Review 9:The rooms were cold as there was no heating on. We had to wear indoor jackets to keep warm. The cooked breakfast wasn't great but it did the job!

Review 10:The room was pleasant and our room had a great view of the sea. We had a friendly welcome.

Review 11:The staff was great and really tried to make sure that we were happy and had a great stay. Food is good and portions are large. If you're looking for a nice Hotel with great value for money, The Park Hotel is probably your best choice in Dunoon. We stayed for a week and were well received and taken care of. When we left early to go to the airport, the owner himself prepared a packed breakfast, since we didn't have time to have regular breakfast. The location is also great and you can walk into town in about ten minutes. The sea is only about 100 yards from the Hotel.

Review 12:We had nothing to complain about.

Review 13:You won't find people anywhere that are happier to help and make sure that your stay is as good as possible. At The Park Hotel, everyone who works there will go the extra mile, always with a smile. We were a party of four from Sweden who stayed here for a week to stalk deer. We got back to the Hotel at around 10 each morning and they would then make us breakfast although the official breakfast was over by then. Highly recommended!

Review 14:Nothing !

Review 15:Really friendly and helpful staff. Current owners are still in their first season of operation, and catching up on a variety of inherited problems with the building. All handled with good humour and understanding responses..

Review 16:Attentive, kind and very polite owners, and team members. Great variety of food, even for the health conscious amongst us! Will definitely use this hotel again when I'm in the area!

Review 17:Nothing to dislike given the price we paid.

Review 18:We were made to feel very welcome. Plenty of tea coffee and milk and nothing was too much trouble. Excellent value for money, close to the centre overlooking the Clyde.

Review 19:Shower room, toilet and sink must be over 30 years old.

Review 20:The hoteliers were excellent, they offered us a choice of rooms. Unfortunately the family room we chose needs reverbishing!! The beds were so uncomfortable. However they did say they were making changes.

Review 21:We found this to be an excellent Hotel, the breakfast was delicious, well presented, and value for money, the staff couldnt have been more helpful, and the rooms were lovely. We came with our little dog and elderley mother, we had lovely sea views and the rooms were warm and cosy, would definately stay here again.

Review 22:terrified to dance on floor very slippy one person fell.. Stayed two nights felt there should be reversal of serving second night our table served last both nights tables being set for breakfast and we still had to have evenings entertainment

Review 23:food was good Staff helpful

Review 24:The place looked very dated, bathroom especially with the shower head detached from the wall. Rooms were very small and very hot. Couldn't open the window so that it was safe for the child I was with.

Review 25:Staff were lovely and very helpful

Review 26:Windows were poorly fitting, didn't close properly causing draft and whistling sound. The decor is very dated and needs modernising. The bathroom was very shabby and poor needing a complete revamp. Try having a shower with a curtain that blows against you (due to draft in the en-suite) and sticks to you. Beds had mattrices fit for the tip, very uncomfortable night's sleep with pinging springs with every slight movement. Could have been so much better,

Review 27:The staff were all very friendly and generally very helpful and attentive.

Review 28:The location was nice and quite,5 minute walk to the sea front a nice walk to the town centre, the staff were very friendly, couldn't do enough for you.breakfast was very nice apart from potatoe scone

Review 29:Hotel istay old and tired. Our room was very tiny. No room to move around the bed. Bathub surround coming off wall, broken toilet seat, furniture in terrible condition, lumpy bed. Nice towels, nice duvet. Staff couldn't tell us the best way to get to where a local festival was being held and didn'the offer a map even though we were given one later by another staff member.

Review 30:Most of the food was good, but not cooked fresh that day (same soup both days we were there).

Review 31:toilet was dirty in the room dont expect to see other peoples business, should have been checked prior to us arriving and toilet cleaner applied and cobweb hanging on door and dead moths in my mothers room.

Review 32:comfy beds and friendly staff

Review 33:At breakfast there was nobody to tell you where to be seated ,everyone had to find available table where ever ,waited ages for staff to take order no apology from staff for delay....and it was poor breakfast. This hotel is over priced.

Review 34:Hotel nice and clean

Review 35:I liked the warm welcome we got from the staff when we arrived. We also got shown where everything was within the hotel. The staff where really friendly the hotel and room was very clean had everything we needed and the breakfast was very nice.

Review 36:The room was very small and cramped, the window leaked and the kettle was mouldy. It was noisy because doors had to be banged to get them to close properly

Review 37:Most of the staff were friendly but some didn't speak very much English.

Review 38:The twin room we stayed in did not have a socket near the mirror. Very important point to bear in mind for female travellers with hair devices

Review 39:Hotel looked nice exterior wise. Area to sit out. Member of staff appeared promptly to extend a friendly and informative welcome to the hotel and it's facilities. Smart bar and dining area. Clean room (bit dated) but modern ensuite. Housekeeping staff friendly but not intrusive. Enjoyed the cooked breakfast. The restaurant menu looked good but not sampled on this visit.

Review 40:not one bad experiance but a lot of work needs doing to correct things that that are not good

Review 41:the location the staff are very good the manager made our stay tn

Review 42:I didn't like the travel it wasn't straight forward

Review 43:The hotel and the staff were fine. Loved my stay. But it was quite difficult to get there what with catching a ferrie.

Review 44:The mattress was out of shape and at a funny angle as the floor had a rise in it which gave me a sore back and hip.

Review 45:Very friendly staff open and approachable.nice view over the firth of Clyde

Review 46:Small bedroom which was too small to serve as a double room.Thin walls with noisy neighbours in the adjoining room.

Review 47:Friendly staff and proprietor did all they could under difficult circumstances.

Review 48:The mattress wasn't very comfortable, I became aware of it during the night, had to keep changing position to ease my arthritic bones. Didn't like the bacon & my tattie scone was overcooked.

Review 49:Liked the style /decor of the room, how spotless it was overall, and how welcoming, friendly & helpful all the staff were during our short stay. Any requests I made were dealt with quickly and with good grace. Thanks, breakfast included was great value for money.

Review 50:We only stayed 1 night for a wee weekend break, but loved the quiet location, had dinner that night which was very good, and the breakfast was varied and we'll cooked, highly recommend it.

Review 51:The breakfast was very basic and our meal in the restaurant was poor. The food was burnt and not particularly edible. There was simply a lack of care given to the food by the chef.

Review 52:The staff. Dan on front desk was excellent and charming.

Review 53:We had the smallest room R1, it was a bit clostophic for me, the bathroom shower was small. The room needs updated, but it is very adaquit for the price.

Review 54:The breakfast staff were so nice, served breakfast with a smile every morning, even though the young fellow was up late in the bar the previous night.

Review 55:No hair dryer, no biscuits, bathroom extractor not working, creaky floors, dingy dated decor, very noisy bathroom fan next door, nobody gonna sleep when that comes on. Large caterpillar having a race with another insect on the dining room floor at breakfast time, lost sight of them when they reached the carpet at the other side of the bar, the other insect should definitely have won. Not mentioned at the time as it may have alarmed other guests. More hotel info in the bedroom might be an idea.

Review 56:Quiet, friendly, comfy beds, nice breakfast.

Review 57:My bed was a little downward sloping, felt like I was rolling off! The hotel is a little tired decor-wise, but nice.

Review 58:The views are stunning, the staff were helpful and kind

Review 59:Our room felt as though it was used for storage. The bathroom floor sagged when you walked onto it. There was no hot water in the vanity basin although there was plenty in the shower. Decor looked tired.

Review 60:Staff were very frendly and polite. Breakfast was excellent. In fairness it was a family run hotel trying hard to please.

Review 61:Its an older hotel so the walls are a bit thin and the plumbing quite noisy so you could hear the neighbours coming back later on at night & when they were running a bath/having a shower in the morning.

Review 62:Great view looking out on to the sea. A clean room, with a comfortable bed, good power in the shower and a delicious full Scottish breakfast. Great price for a Saturday night.

Review 63:Nothing

Review 64:We liked everything about this hotel, the location, the interior, the food, the service and especially the staff. Friendly, efficient and above all courteous and very helpful staff, especially the young woman who worked behind the bar while we were there, she was wonderful!

Review 65:Size of room - too small. Also private function on the Saturday night caused a sleepless night for a lot of the older residents in the hotel. Music was very loud and also could smell that some residents were smoking in their rooms.

Review 66:Staff were friendly and breakfast was nice.

Review 67:the management and staff were very helpful when we finally arrived after delays and they rang us prior to find out what time we were going to be which turned out to be 10 pm. we were looked after very well and we would certainly recommend this hotel and when in the area would book again.

Review 68:I wasn't overly impressed with breakfast but this is only a minor complaint from an otherwise very pleasant stay.

Review 69:The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff could not have been nicer or more helpful!!

Review 70:Staff could not have been more helpful and obliging. Comfortable room, good food, handy for peaceful walks, sea front, shops and also touring holy loch etc.

Review 71:I didnt like being wakened up at 09.00am on a Sunday morning by a fire alarm after attending a wedding the day before.(No explanation given why)

Review 72:Friendly staff, lovely breakfast.

Review 73:Overall hotel is good but needs a lot of upgrading to decor and furniture, some rooms more than others.

Review 74:Girl at reception was very friendly even although she was the only member of staff greeting, serving at bar and meals. Location very good.

Review 75:The hotel was easy to find.the gentleman who was on reception was very helpful. We were late arriving and he recommended a restaurant .I have been touring Scotland and the breakfast in the Park was the best I got in 7 different hotels.I will be recommending The PARK HOTEL to any one going to Dunoon.

Review 76:Nothing to complain about. Very enjoyable stay.

Review 77:The hotel was just ideal for me and my dog. Very comfortable, staff were so nice and welcoming, very clean and very central. Would stay again.

Review 78:on arriving we were greeted by a very bubbly, friendly member of staff who put us at ease straight away. The room had a fabulous bay window right at the front of the property with a terrific view. All members of staff were kind, polite & bent over backwards to make our stay everything we hoped it would be

Review 79:Bathroom (room 7) dated (avocado colour loo and shower, no bath). Shower riser fixed with gaffer tape. No lift (although friendly receptionist helped carry luggage)

Review 80:Staff really friendly, good breakfast, lovely views and a playpark for children across the road. Bed really comfy. Overall good, but spoilt by cosmetic touches needed.

Review 81:Stayed in room 9 , woke up 05.30 in the by someone next door having a pee & bath from then on we could nt get back to sleep because of the plumbing, they moved us to room 19 which had no hot water, that did offer us another room but we said no couldn't be bothered

Review 82:Friendly staff, clean rooms,

Review 83:None whatsoever

Review 84:We arrived late evening due to delay with flight when we collected our hire car at Glasgow I phoned the hotel to inform them and the receptionist asked if we would like some sandwiches upon arrival these were ready when we arrived and were excellent the other staff were so friendly and helpful cannot fault one bit. As we have business to do in Dunoon in August we have booked into this hotel

Review 85:Nothing.

Review 86:Staff very friendly and helpful, breakfast excellent, Plenty choice for evening main If u decide to stay in, prices reasonable. Room was excellent We upgraded to the suite, well worth doing so.. We will be back..

Review 87:There wasnt anything we didnt like.

Review 88:The staff were lovely and so friendly. I had never been to dunoon and i really look forward to going back and staying at the park hotel again. Everything was excellent from the travel to the food ( especially the steak pie dinner, it was heavenly). I cant give it enough praise. Thank you for a lovely weekend and making us feel so welcome . 10/10

Review 89:The manager was due to be in at 5pm but did not arrive until 7 pm. And left well before the function we were attending finished. This I believe sets a poor example to the staff who were left to run the hotel.

Review 90:The hotel wes clean, the staff friendly and the breakfast excellent.

Review 91:No off road parking

Review 92:The staff were friendly and helpful. Check in was fast and the staff were expecting us as we arrived late evening The room was modern and comfortable. Winter weather outside but warm and cozy inside. Excellent breakfast

Review 93:Our room was very clean and the sea views over the River Clyde were second to none. Our breakfast in the morning was of the finest quality local produce. Overall value for money, fantastic quality, we shall be returning in the new year,

Review 94:We chose to have the suite as it was roomier and more luxurious. We were not disappointed. The room was large with comfortable furnishings and modern decor. The bathroom was also roomy with a jacuzzi bath as well as a shower. We'll definitely choose this hotel next time.

Review 95:Room decor a bit tired and flaking paper around windows.

Review 96:Pleasant surroundings , not too far from the shops and other amenities. Comfortable room. Good breakfast

Review 97:Woken up by noisy plumbing. Budget double room was quite small. Further away from town centre than expected. No decaf coffee - a jar of instant only a couple of quid - should provide this.

Review 98:Breakfast was fine. Staff did respond to requests when we pointed out there was no soap, hair dryer etc.

Review 99:it was a long walk to the shops & pubs,i did ask for a gluten free breakfast but had to sort it out myself as the lady had not been told but she did her best for me.

Review 100:we had the room with most space at the top of the hotel, staff was friendly clean room.

Review 101:NOTHING

Review 102:The staff were fantastic and so helpful. As they were local that had a good knowledge of the area. The breakfast were good and the chef was happy to offer a range of vegetarian options each evening. Hotel was within walking distance to town.

Review 103:Very dirty remote control. Creaky floor boards Mould in bathroom

Review 104:Staff were very pleasant. The breakfast area was very bright. Lovely white towels Quiet

Review 105:Having to go home

Review 106:Fantastic hotel with lovely friendly staff. Went there with my own family and other and exptended family enjoyed our stay so much we've booked up to back.

Review 107:They seemed to be running low on supplies. I had the last bottled beer from the bar and the cheese selection at dinner was poor. The kippers were over-cooked.

Review 108:Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was good quality and generally well presented. Bed was comfortable if a bit small.

Review 109:The staff were excellent, Beth who looked after us, was so lovely friendly and happy to help with everything, that made out visit for us special, the breakfast was great too

Review 110:Overall, hotel could do with revamp. Rooms and public areas showing their age ( somewhere around 1980's). Carpets straight from your Gran's house. Our room was very small for a double.

Review 111:Spotlessly clean room and bathroom. Clean, crisp bedding and plenty of "real people" sized towels. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 112:Parking for motorcycles not so good. But we eventually parked outside front door.

Review 113:We had a beautiful sea view. The staff were very good at there job. We arrived after food late and even though the chef had finished he made a great meal for us. Location was perfect for us. Rooms were perfect. But most of all the value for money, very good.

Review 114:Noisy water system , thin walls between rooms not helped by noisy guests next door. Lack of parking

Review 115:Helpfulness of Staff, breakfast , food, cleanliness and comfort of room

Review 116:Room was very unsatisfactory as there was no lock on bathroom door room 21 Bath panel hanging off Dusty n grubby on skirting boards in bedroom and toilet roll holder was broken

Review 117:Staff were very friendly Excellent food Close to centre

Review 118:Sorry I can't fault it no negative comments From me

Review 119:I have stayed at the Park Hotel Dunnoon on a number of occasions and always found it clean comfortable and friendly nothing is to much trouble for the staff. The location is out of this world and I just love it.

Review 120:The room was very dated and the beds were basically mush with springs poking into our backs. The pull cord in the bathroom was filthy, as was the bathmat in the shower, which was covered in mould on the underside. The floor tiles were squishy and loose under the vinyl as well in the bathroom and the carpeting in the bedroom looked worse for wear. Really needs a renovation! Also the walls and doors are paper thin so you can hear noise from other rooms and especially the hallway early morning when the cleaners get started, so don't expect a lie in.

Review 121:Staff was very friendly though and we had a table set up for everyone attending the wedding for breakfast the day after without having to ask, which was very thoughtful. The location was great for the view, walks and it's proximity to town. But the room was just far too outdated for a recommendation sadly as otherwise it could be a lovely quaint hotel.

Review 122:Being put in room above band and large noisy function suite when most of other rooms were empty. We got another room when I complained by why put us in that room, crazy!

Review 123:Breakfast, and near town.

Review 124:Bed was uncomfortable, too hard. Breakfast on first morning over cooked and microwaved, although other mornings it was lovely

Review 125:Friendly relaxed atmosphere, good food, towels big and changed every day.

Review 126:Staff were brilliant!

Review 127:No wifi in bedrooms but staff did say they were looking at this to be changed and were very apologetic.

Review 128:Staff were super polite, friendly and helpful.

Review 129:Excellent Breakfast Loved the room very spacious Staff extremely helpful and pleasant Nice relaxing bar area Great location

Review 130:everything

Review 131:Fantastic Customer Service, Great Food!

Review 132:Friendly staff at reception and breakfast, comfy and warm room. Good variety of items for breakfast.
