Reviews for Harbourside Hotel

Review 1:On the website the room looked immaculate with a double bed and 2 singles but when we arrived we got a double bed and 1 single which is no use to 3 males who happen to work together. When we spoke to the owner he transferred us to another room which had a double and bunk beds. The beds were lumpy an the room was freezing although he did say that there was a heater in the wardrobe. All in all not good...

Review 2:the rooms are really comfortable and cozy. Excellent value for money. Staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. This is the hotel I will book every time I travel to Irvine. Cant rate it highly enough.

Review 3:everything fantastic host, brilliant location perfect for what we were looking for central for travelling, plenty of places of interest to visit, nothing to fault and looking forward to going back at easter

Review 4:on arival our room was not ready tryed to get in touch with a member of staff witch took nearly an hour after 6 phone calls someone phoned us back said it had been a mix up with cleaning staff. we were ofered another room till ours was ready. we did eventualy get into our room and made the best of it but never saw anther member of staff the rest of our stay we had phone numbers but wasn't going back down that road.

Review 5:near to shopping centre

Review 6:The shower wasnt working very well, nor very big and made it difficult to use but only thing I can fault.

Review 7:The location is fantastic, near shopping centre with lots of shops and restraunts and supermarket, right beside the harbour and a short walk from the magnum centre- there is also a few lively local pubs down the street with fantastic atmosphere and cheap drinks

Review 8:I was charged twice.i expected to pay at the end of my stay but money was taken when I arrived not knowing this I paid again by Card on Saturday can I have my money back regards Steve

Review 9:Booked this for an overnight stay as we were travelling on to Arran the next morning. The self check in seemed a bit strange but it worked ok. Plenty of takeaways close by for an evening meal. Breakfast next day was excellent, location ideal for the ferry .

Review 10:Couldn't fault this place at all!

Review 11:Sharon and Dave couldn't have been any more accommodating! They were really lovely and went out of they're way to make sure we had a lovely stay! We honestly loved it that much we rebooked before we left!

Review 12:Breakfast served between 7.30 till 9 had a late night at family party felt this was a bit early & check out 10am.

Review 13:Owner Andy. a lovely friendly man.

Review 14:The window in the room did not fit the frame and let in both wind and noise we did tell the proprieter who put some seal on and promised to fix it but didn't then conveniently disappeared when we went home a day later ...avoid room 3...

Review 15:Large telly and big fridge ...near the station & shops

Review 16:Not given ground floor room as requested had to climb up to second floor not easy when disabled and no handrails to hold on to. No member of staff able to process credit card transaction on checkout so had to try and find cash machine to pay . The Cook had to ask me how much we had to pay and money put in an old envelope. I then had to ask for a receipt

Review 17:It was hard to find anything good to like. The girl who made the breakfast was pleasant.

Review 18:Cooked breakfast selection not really up to standard, one rasher bacon, one sausage beans and egg.(two eggs portion was fine).

Review 19:Staff very attentive and pleasent

Review 20:Bathroom needed a Makeover and Electric Shower was loose to wall. On arrival were locked out as no reception available, had to phone a number for pin code to access external door.

Review 21:Quiet and comfortable bed.

Review 22:Shabby, SMELLY, stained and dirty carpets which all need replacing or at the very least steam cleaning, very worn furniture, creaky floor boards and no sound proofing to other rooms, old mattress, pillows and worn bed linens, darkness in halls lights by sensor which go off quickly, heating low and all on timers and not all worked, so rooms cold, dark entry and halls, hall doors closed and too many, rubbish outside of entry, cigarette buts outside entry and exit doors, at the back entry no easy access to park as obstacles there like old boats and long grass, lip at back door entry a hazard and dangerous, hard to get a park out the front. No chair in the room, so nowhere to sit other than on the bed.CHEAP & NASTY.,

Review 23:NOT MUCH> Could walk to shops and supermarket. Microwave and small fridge in the rooms. Staff okay, friendly. Area itself has too much rubbish and cigarette buts are everywhere. CHEAP and you get what you pay for CHEAP & NASTY - a big mistake for us in in choice.

Review 24:The bedrooms were large enough as were the En-suites and although the furnishings were a bit shabby, the rooms were clean and fresh. (Just needs a bit of TLC). Each had fridge, iron, hairdryer, TV WiFi and microwave. Parking was not a problem even though there was no Car Park for the hotel. Staff were very nice and helpful. Good location. It was just right for our needs that weekend. Thank you guys.

Review 25:Didn't get a very welcoming reception on arrival.

Review 26:Lovely quite area. A lot to do with a gorgeous beach. Great shopping near by. Amazing ice cream shop next door - highly recommended!!

Review 27:Mix up with rooms on arrival and no staff to help had to try all 3 numbers before I got someone to help-very annoying! Then not the hotels fault, but soooooooooo dam noisy during the night we barely slept!

Review 28:Comfy beds, great location, great facilities, breakfast was good!

Review 29:Stains on the ceiling, dirty en-suite,. Fusty smell, broken wardrobeshelves, no hook on wall for curtain tie backs, decor was very tatty, had to park down the road, they took payment from my debit card whenbooking.com said no payment would be taken and payment would be madeduring our stay, the en-suite was in absolutely shocking conditionwith odd wall tiles just stuck in among the original tiles, the unitthe wash basin was mounted in had a huge corner knocked out of it, Icould go on for ages but I will stop there, if you book this hotelplease ask "NOT" to be in room 8, I have no idea what theother rooms are like.

Review 30:Lady that served our breakfast was very pleasant

Review 31:We put in request for a baby cot while booking the hotel on booking.com. Maybe it didn't get to the hotel staff before we arrive as we didn't find a baby cot in the room and it was past the office hour.

Review 32:The staffs are very friendly. Bringing high chair and serving hot breakfast on order. We had a family room: one double and two single beds.

Review 33:Not a great deal the place just needs a little re vamping to bring it up to date.

Review 34:The hotel is well placed for a stop over on the way to the Isle of Arran. Our room had a microwave and Asda is a 2 minute walk away which meant we could buy an easy cook meal and relax after the journey up.The host & hostess were a joy and extremely helpful, would not hesitate on a return trip to the Islands of the west coast.

Review 35:Had to change rooms as the first room smelt of food cooking. View was described as being able to see the Isle of Arran and the river. The view from any floor was of the building opposite

Review 36:Location is close to the shops and the harbour Price was reasonable

Review 37:The view, room bit small for 1 double bed and single bed no room to move around....bbedside light not working and room too warm

Review 38:Breakfast was good, location ok but was expecting better view as described in booking confirmation , too warm in room and not easily controlled so then was switched off and bit cool

Review 39:Floors and bed very creaky but comfortable room with fridge - very unusual for this level of pricing. Cooked breakfast minimal quantities but very tasty.

Review 40:Location and price.

Review 41:The single bed could do with a softer mattress, the double was fine

Review 42:Very warm welcome. We stayed on New Years Eve and Andy kindly called the local pub for us to see if we needed tickets for that night and also told us where other places were we might need eg Wetherspoons,Asda. The en suite room included a microwave, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities

Review 43:2 pensioners and no lift and no handrail on stairs which was quite difficult, enjoyed our stay but no bar so would not class this as a hotel more a b&b guest house

Review 44:rooms breakfast and location and staff all very good would stay again but on ground floor only

Review 45:The single bed springs were very prominent. Would have preferred a typical Scots breakfast with black pudding and tattie scones. Did not like having to go out for a meal in the evening.

Review 46:The room was adequate for a couple but would have been awkward with three. The staff were very good. The location was ideal for station or town. Breakfast was more than adequate but not a full English as described.

Review 47:No parking belonging to the hotel. No one there when we arrived at 10pm. Breakfast wasn't fantastic.

Review 48:Room was of adequate size for a group of three with all necessary facilities. Comfortable beds and good bathroom facilities. Tartan carpet!

Review 49:Only thing (which I know will get fixed) was the toilet seat was broken and moved easily. If we were staying any longer I'd have asked for another room. Will not stop us going back.

Review 50:On arrival Carmen was brilliant. She offered me a choice of rooms & put my case in room while I had a walk about. She came outside and showed me the direction I should take for my walk. She was never too full on and came to have a wee chat at breakfast. On leaving she hoped we'd had a good time and was glad to have met us.

Review 51:Room smelt of fish Found bugs in bed Fuse box was in bathroom! Paid for family room although there were only 2 of us and rest of hotel appeared to be empty

Review 52:No hand rails on the higher level stairs. Room could have benefitted from a chair.

Review 53:Harbourside is literally 5 minutes from the station! My room was excellent with a microwave and fridge which was a nice surprise. The staff were friendly and helpful. Nice variety for breakfast. Everywhere was really nice and clean. Location was superb for shopping, walks and rail station. I would definitely visit again.

Review 54:Renovations are being made so things are a little rough around the edges, but that's pretty minor.

Review 55:Comfy hotel, very friendly owners. Room was a bit on the tight side but very useable. Quiet despite being just above the street. Parking is tight until after 5pm due to commuters. On the other hand, hotel is mere steps from rail station, which is only 30 min from Glasgow.

Review 56:I seem to make it a habit to select hotels is areas that are a bit run-down. However we were not too far from places of interest.

Review 57:The weather all week was very good and once away from the harbourside Irvine is a very nice plce with friendly generous people.

Review 58:Good b/fast and you reach shops, train station and buses in mins. by walk.and hospitality was great. We would book again in future.Thank s to all the staff especially to Andy and Carmen for your great help.M Gillibrand

Review 59:The window over the sink did not have any curtains so when the sun came up was very bright and we were awake.

Review 60:Breakfast was very nice all the staff very friendly and helpful will stay here again.

Review 61:Decor a bit dated and shabby. Definitely need new carpets throughout. Not a very welcoming entrance. Not the best breakfast, smell alone put us off. Great large TV but in a bad location in the room. WiFi a bit hit and miss.

Review 62:Good location being near station for trip into Glasgow for Commonwealth Games and close to ferry to Arran. Friendly efficient staff. Large clean bathroom. Free WiFi. Easy parking.

Review 63:Door that made a noise with wind vibration all the time through the night

Review 64:Put on early breakfast so we could get to the Commonwealth Games. Sorted out an extra key as we were not together all the time. Good sized room and comfortable beds. Very helpful and friendly especially Carmen Thanks. Excellent value for money.

Review 65:Bit shabby in places including outside ,no opening window in bathroom. Uncomfortable bed ,needs a new mattress.

Review 66:Friendly staff ,good location.Large bathroom with recently new fittings

Review 67:Room 9 (outside main hotel building) smelt awful, stale cigarettes and possibly damp. Bed wasn't the most comfortable and the shower was hit and miss with both its temperature and water flow. Our other members of the group were in room 6 (top floor) and had no problems at all.

Review 68:Andy and Carmen are excellent hosts, very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast cooked to order was good. Location to the train station, beach and shops was perfect for us.

Review 69:No DVD player on television. Small bin in bedroom. Breakfast very basic, coffee tasted instant.

Review 70:Cosy rooms. Clean and spacious. Nice bathroom. Fridge and microwave fantastic. 2 mins away from train station, asda and McDonalds

Review 71:Hotels a bit shabby overall and decor was horrendous.

Review 72:Staff were fantastic couldn't have been more helpful and nice. Check in quick n easy n breakfast was fab. Wee extras in our room was nice too.

Review 73:Dirty rooms, bathroom floor creaked when walked on, rough neighborhood, fighting outside our window at night,

Review 74:Managers were pleasant.Close to train and shopping center, Marine Museum is a block away and was find and the restaurant "The Ship" three blocks away was excellent.
