Reviews for Original White Hart by Marston's Inns

Review 1:Room had seen better days. Holes plugged with paper, bathroom only basic clean (door grubby, dust & dried in toothpaste on loo roll holder, corners grubby). only stayed two nights and didn't expect a room clean but someone came in and left 2 bottles of water but did nothing else - random!!

Review 2:staff were friendly

Review 3:Not really suitable for an elderly lady, difficult to lock downstairs, outside room which made me very insecure. Insufficient bedding and I was cold.

Review 4:Helpful, friendly manager.

Review 5:Most of the facilities were good but the curtains were falling off the window which was dirty and mouldy. I didn't expect miracles as it was well priced but it was tatty round the edges. Breakfast took a long time so I was late for my job at 10am.

Review 6:Friendly helpful, staff. Close proximity to where I was working.

Review 7:Room was dark Bedside lights didn't work A bit noisy but then it is a working pub too so it's not going to be peace and solitude!

Review 8:Helpful staff, very friendly. Convenient for my business requirements. Very clean. When I discussed an issue with the landlady she was very quick to rectify it.

Review 9:Room was exceptionally small

Review 10:Room was in a block of 'mews' with a door to outside - excellent for dog as we didn't have to walk through the hotel.

Review 11:Mould on inside of bathroom windows, no remote, no soap or sweeteners, 2 of 3 ceiling lights u/s, tepid water NOT hot, very poor flushing of toilet, much confusion re menu . Sash window would only open a few mms, quite insufficient to air the room.

Review 12:The bed! Good parking.

Review 13:Whole place in need of a refurb. Room right on main road and very noisy - lack of sleep.

Review 14:The location, close to friends we were meeting up with. Staff were friendly and breakfast was good.

Review 15:The Original White Hart is set in the centre on Ringwood, with its own car park around the back so it was very easy to find. Its not directly in the New Forest, but if you're driving then its a short 15 minutes away. Our room was in the external building and looked to be newly refurbished so the whole stay was very comfortable and although the room wasnt very big, we didnt want for clean facilities. The breakfast in the morning was delicious, plentiful and included in our price... which was nice! We spent the evening in the pub, where we ate and drank and genrally enjoyed a good atmosphere and friendly, professional staff. We were also allowed to check out late as it was undergoing refurbishment that week and we were the last ones to stay until the work was done, so we are excited to stay there again when its all completed.

Review 16:Nil

Review 17:The hotel has relatively new units built at the back and we stayed in one of those. Must admit we were very surprised by the high quality of the accommodation in the units - really nice and away from the noise. Free parking in the hotel yard away from the street. Great value food options in the dining area.

Review 18:Decor was dated and shabby! Room was not clean! Net curtains were dirty and ripped. window held open with a bit of wood, carpet bad lots of stains!

Review 19:Staff were friendly. Breakfast was good

Review 20:Needs a major refurbishment. Our room was so small had to be careful not to break the window when I put the key in the door !!!!!!

Review 21:Location & friendly staff

Review 22:Having to ask for toilet rolls, no teabags or milk in room although had kettle, coffee, oval time, hot choc & buscuits! Supplies were not checked when cleaned.

Review 23:Great staff, lovely breakfast

Review 24:Value for money accommodation. Located right in the heart of the town with good choice of places to eat - plenty of car parking space. Very good breakfast!

Review 25:Could do with a good freshen up on the decor side.

Review 26:Location. Pleasant bedroom. Ample supply of tea and coffee facilities in room. Staff's customer focus Good breakfast

Review 27:The radiator in one room got stuck on so the room was like an oven. Think it was our fault, though!

Review 28:The staff were very friendly and helpful. I can't speak highly enough of the two girls who checked us in. We were entering a competition early the next day and they helped us sort out parking and pay on arrival. They offered us a takeaway breakfast.

Review 29:Slightly disappointed that the kitchen had already closed by the time I arrived (around 20.45) so wasn't able to eat there.

Review 30:Situated in centre of town close to tackle shop. Parking on site - easy access to room in access. Excellent value for money.

Review 31:The breakfast was generous but of poor quality products.

Review 32:The room was quite basic but clean with a very comfortable bed. The hotel is a little shabby but awaiting a major refurbishment so will probably be much fresher after november.

Review 33:Lively local pub with noisy locals enjoying their Friday night in the smoking area below our bedroom window

Review 34:Overnight stop before catching the ferry from Poole at 10 the following morning. Great location just 45 minutes drive from the harbour. Pet friendly

Review 35:Noise from road started about 5.30 am when bins emptied, and windows didn't insulate. Room decor 4 poster with curtains dated and gloomy.

Review 36:Good size room and bathroom. WiFi, tv , breakfast all good.

Review 37:Perhaps a little noisy at night, but it is on the high street?!

Review 38:Perfect location for visiting friends in Ringwood. The manager and assistant manager really looked after us and were a good laugh! Would stay again.

Review 39:we booked a four poster bed but did not get one , apparently they only have one and it was already taken . The bathroom was tiny you had to manoeuvre around the toilet to shut the door !!

Review 40:the food was very good we ate both evenings we were there .

Review 41:Adjacent buildings dilapidated, so not too attractive, but nothing this business can do about that.

Review 42:Good, central town location with parking. Good pub-food menu available for evening meal. Good standard breakfast menu included in price. Fantastic staff, very friendly and helpful.

Review 43:Although we realise the floor sloped away severely, it would have been helpful to level the beds. pillows appauling. We were not happy when returning at 11pm It would have also been useful to tell us at the check in that there would be excessive noise from the singer which the volume was excessive, it didn't help either hearing people until 12:30 at night below in the bar.. We arrived 10 minutes before check in and couldn't believe we were told to wait, the first words spoken to us was check in not until 2pm. Not a good greeting and 10 minutes we didn't even get "i'll see if the room is ready" as we had driven 155 miles we were not impressed, we left due to meeting friends, we returned at 4.30 only to have to wait even though we had sort attention to check in..This was overpriced for £90. Will not stay again.

Review 44:the female staff who served breakfast was excellent, welcoming and chatty.

Review 45:Lots of noise in evening from people walking by (ground floor room) till 11pm ish Not able to take order for hot breakfast for 15min after breakfast "start" time Shabby room ,heating (radiator ) noisy

Review 46:Fast internet

Review 47:Noise from road outside, unable to get a cup of coffe at 9.00PM, dated decoration, room poorly arranged so litttle space.Cheap supersoft pillows.

Review 48:Welcome from staff was very good

Review 49:Not really a bad point but the ensuite bathroom we had could be improved with general update as basin very small and all bit old fashioned

Review 50:Nice location, good parking facilities room was nice a little dated but there was additional rooms in separate building which looked nice, Food was good value pub food, great beer excellent breakfast and very friendly staff we would stay again

Review 51:Bedroom was tiny and en suite even smaller with hardly enough room to use the loo! Room 15 Not a double room. Door doesn't fit frame so felt like sleeping in a car park. Noisey neighbours although church bells were lovely distraction from hideous music. Breakfast waitress hardly spoke and assumed I knew where tea and coffe were. Have stayed all over and this is worst experience I have had. cheaper places that are very much better so rubbish value for money. Didn't eat in the bar as didn't fancy look of it so cannot comment on food other than breakfast.

Review 52:The shower was the best thing about the room

Review 53:Bed soo uncomfortable it was on a slope, so springy and noisy, not very clean dust everywhere.

Review 54:Staff friendly, pub cheap enough, location with the restaurants are good.

Review 55:Nothing.

Review 56:Has many 'old inn' characteristics remaining reflecting its old market town location, most comfortable and welcoming, but is in need of minor decor refresh.

Review 57:Room was very small, and no aircon. Shower had virtually no pressure, and cubicle was small. Very noisy with front door of pub banging very loudly till after midnight and starting again at 8am. Service at breakfast was slow and breakfast room was disorganised and cramped. Had to give TV remote back at check out. If I had paid £20 less a night I'd have been happier

Review 58:Good Location in Ringwood, easy access to everything, and good taxi service in the town. Bed was comfortable and there was free off street parking. The breakfast was tasty, and the room was reasonably clean.

Review 59:Bathroom was to say the least a little on the small side!

Review 60:The attitude and helpfulness of staff - I was due to pick up a friend from Heathrow and deliver her to a Dorset location - her flight was delayed by 6 hours, but that wasn't a problem to the lady I spoke to at the Original White Hart - she arranged for my room to be accessible at 1 o'clock in the morning with no fuss or drama! Impressed!

Review 61:My downside experience was largely my own fault; I got the last single room and the wall was rather thin, so I could hear too much of the neighbouring guests activities (moving around and snoring!). I was helpfully advised to ask for a quieter room next time.

Review 62:I liked the friendliness and the ambience. I did not expect 5-star, as I had made a last minute reservation in the middle of the Bournemouth Air show event. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by my experience, and will definitely return.

Review 63:Room 3 the single bed rickerty, the toilet kept on filling all night, the floor very sloping. Room 15 good but very small

Review 64:Staff very friendly and helpful. Location very good for us.

Review 65:This a nice traditional English pub in a nice traditional English market town in the New Forest, one of the nicest areas of Southern England. Add in a good English breakfast and what's not to like

Review 66:Although the room was small. It was clean and perfectly adequate. The service at breakfast was very good and so was its quality. Next time I need to stay in ringwood. I will book this hotel again.

Review 67:Silly mini sink in bathroom with glass shelf over is ok for hand washing only,no good for face washing or wet shaving.t

Review 68:Friendly staff, good location for our visit, nice town with good selection of other restaurants.Quaint old inn with good bar and standard pub food.

Review 69:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and very good value. The White Hart is well placed for visiting the New Forest and south coast.

Review 70:Because we left early we were not able to have the breakfast which was included in the price, however we were given some fruit to eat for the morning. We would of preferred breakfast or even a small deduction on the price.

Review 71:Convenience

Review 72:Smell of paint as bathroom door had been freshly done. Small double bed. Room overlooked smokers who were in yard below.

Review 73:Location which suited our needs as had been to a family party locally. Free car parking on premises.

Review 74:Friendliness of staff, in particular the manageress, Amanda, who welcomed us warmly even though we arrived very late. The situation was perfect, and although a busy Saturday night, there was no noise disturbance leading to a good night's sleep.

Review 75:The lighting in the bedroom was poor and theshelf above the wasbasin is far too low. It was uncomfortable trying to wash.

Review 76:Friendly welcome and staff. Excellent breakfast

Review 77:Very hot, cramped uncomfortable room. The proprietor's manner had no graces; more used to and appropriate for kicking people out after Last Orders than greeting guests and serving breakfast. The owner has clearly sold the original car park land and parking thus rigidly enforced by one of the many greedy Parking Management Maffias.

Review 78:Location.

Review 79:Bedroom was very hot on a fairly cool evening. No food and bar closes relatively early (to be fair it was a Sunday). Even as a guest it wasn't possible to get a drink.

Review 80:Breakfast was superb and staff were very friendly

Review 81:the bed was like concreat Being on the front of the building was noisy from patrons of the pub , the road, and the beep beep of the cash machine over the road . We did have the windows open because it was hot

Review 82:price

Review 83:Some of the language used by the pub clientele (but I suppose there's not a lot anyone can do about that :-)). Otherwise all was fine.

Review 84:Located in central Ringwood, but with plenty of free, on site parking.

Review 85:Hotel requires extensive painting and maintenance . No tv remote, hairdryer didn't work, definitely could do with a make over.

Review 86:Friendly staff, nice people

Review 87:I was looked after from the moment I arrived.I needed for nothing and all food, drink and accommodation was added to same final bill, easy! The staff were friendly, the food was great and tj room clean and comfortable. What more could I have wanted? Gold embossed taps or silk bed sheets... Perhaps but it certainly suited me completely. THANKS!

Review 88:Would have been nice to be able to open the bedroom window, rather than having to leave bathroom door open so that we could get air from that window. Could not find a bath plug.

Review 89:Staff very friendly and helpful. Location was perfect for us this time as we needed to be in town centre. Room had "cosy" feel when we walked in.

Review 90:For what you pay for this, in my book, they deliver the goods. 'But' there was no TV remote in the room, guessing you have to ask for one at check-in. And some points that did not worry me, the towel rail wasn't working, the extractor fan needed a clean and there were some marks on the carpet...

Review 91:Used this as a base to work from and it was just what was needed. It seems a good location too, to base for the New Forest and only 15 mins easy drive to Bournemouth. Locally some good walks/cycling to explore. Two major stores very close by, by foot with what appears to be some nice restaurants too. Food at this place was 'okay', its 'pub' food so depends what you want. It was hot, wholesome and timely Staff were efficient and friendly. The room cleaner was in everyday :-) , but may need to pay some attention to cleaning the paintwork on the doors and frames.

Review 92:Room and bedding very scruffy this year, bedding all creased up and just thrown on by the look of it, bathroom smelt very damp, did not like it this year. Beds placed in different position so could not even watch the TV, not good at all, room 3

Review 93:Staff very friendly

Review 94:First impressions as you pull up outside make you think you have made a mistake, but don't be fooled by this, it's fine.

Review 95:Very friendly and helpful staff, rooms were clean and tidy, the place had a quaintness about it with its beams and sloppy floors and ceilings.

Review 96:Unfortunately I was in room 1 which was overlooking the main street and was fairly noisy with clients leaving the pub and cars going by. Did not get much sleep. Will book a different room next time I stay.

Review 97:Very friendly staff, good location

Review 98:Lady at reception a bit frosty and not very helpful. We were leaving early (before breakfast time) to take part in an event and asked if we could have some fruit or bread or even just a glass of milk - she said no there's a garage up the road.

Review 99:Room clean and adequate.

Review 100:Didn't have breakfast, it finished at 8.30 which was a little too early for us. Felt the bed was a little firm for me but it might be just right for someone else.

Review 101:The building could do with repainting, bit tired.

Review 102:Centre of Ringwood. We had the 4 poster room, very nice if a little cramped, good shower, big bathroom. Nice extras, tea making things and Dove shower & hand wash, nice towels & bedding. The staff were very friendly and helpful, they organised some flowers from my boyfriend to go in the room.

Review 103:noisy late at night . Could do with a bit of updating downstairs. The front was a bit tatty especially the windows.

Review 104:relaxed homely atmosphere, friendly.

Review 105:It rained so the guttering from shopping centre next door gave us a very restless Saturday night.thats not the hotels fault but it rained and we didn't sleep well.

Review 106:The bar was next to our room so no taxi back, had lots of fun with bar staff and Lou was very funny on breakfast duties....a star.

Review 107:confusion about car park.

Review 108:The hotel is full of character, it's certainly not a concrete bunker style hotel. When I visited their was a lovely wood fire in the the bar. A decent menu is available. Food was quickly served, good sized portions.

Review 109:The main building lets things down as it is in need of a make over

Review 110:The staff are excellent; welcoming, friendly and helpful. The breakfast is excellent. The room was comfortable

Review 111:Room/general decor was a little "tired" but nothing too bad.

Review 112:Staff and owners were great and especially welcoming to our 2 dogs. Super breakfast too.

Review 113:Room a bit small, difficult when getting ready as a bit crammed. My partner banged his head on the TV a few times.

Review 114:Lovely staff, location good, breakfast good.

Review 115:We had the 4 poster room and felt it was quite expensive for the standard of décor/comfort. The 4 poster itself was very dirty, the frame needs a good scrub and under the bed and the drapes all require a thorough clean.

Review 116:Ringwood was very nice, good shops and restaurants and a nice base to explore further afield. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Bathroom was large and clean and breakfast was good.

Review 117:Stayed in twin room one bed was lovely and soft the other was rock hard. Staff could have been friendlier

Review 118:Walk out of pub straight into forest, nice garden. Food lovely

Review 119:You get what you pay for. The pub is one of the local watering holes for the inhabitant's of Ringwood. Some of whom's manner's leave something to be desired. Landlady compensated us with a round of drink's on the house.

Review 120:Very friendly and efficient staff. Very reasonable price. Lively bar in the evening, and food served till 09.00pm. Pet friendly. Large car park on site. A short walk to some quality restaurant's. Ringwood is one of the gateway's to the New Forest and the coastline of Hant's, Dorset..

Review 121:Some members of staff could smile and make it feel more welcoming, more friendly. The sausages could have been local produce. Make sure shower wash etc is full up as I had to shower with hand soap.

Review 122:The landlady, was very helpful and very welcoming.

Review 123:The four of us enjoyed our stay. The food was good as was the service. The staff were polite, friendly and very helpful when we asked about local attractions and routes.

Review 124:The room was generally clean but I did notice quite a lot of dust on top of the telly. The hair dryer did not work although when I reported it to the lady on the desk in the morning she was very apologetic. The walls of the room were very thin as I could hear the people in the next room talking, although luckily they seemed to go to sleep the same time as me so I wasn't massively disturbed. The cooked breakfast was very nice apart from the fried tomato which was cold and almost raw, I was also very disappointed that there was no black pudding on the menu. These were all only minor problems.

Review 125:A nice olde worlde pub situated in a lovely little town, well situated to visit Salisbury and the surrounding area. The room was warm and comfortable with the furniture and decor befitting of the place. The free wifi worked perfectly and the ensuite was fine. The staff were helpful and I would happily use this pub again if I happened to be in that part of the country.

Review 126:Someone had left something unpleasant in a drawer. It was in a plastic bag and was oozing! We didn't find out what it was but it felt like offal or an illegal organ. We had an apology on its removal but no explanation or recompense for such an horrific descovery.

Review 127:It was nice to have a bath in the ensuit facility.

Review 128:Waiting to check in as the only staff was serving at the bar. The room had a mould inside and was very tiny.

Review 129:The location couldn't be better. Bang in the centre full of pubs and restaurants. Not far from nice walks. It's also quite cheap to stay. We were given a twin room although we booked a double, but the staff has exchanged without problem.

Review 130:I found the WI FI confusing in that it would seem to log in I would have to pay so can't see how it can be described as free.

Review 131:The location and price.

Review 132:as soon as we walked in there was an overwhelming stench emanating from the toilet area, which was not helped by a stool propping the door open, the stairs to the accommodation were right next to this. in order to reach our room , it would have been helpful to have been provided a sherpa, as there were an extraordinarily steep flight of stairs for this particular room or perhaps it was base camp. at breakfast there were no clean tables, no juice, milk or filter coffee left, when we asked for coffee small sachets of instant coffee were pointed to in a gruff manner, I said I would wait for fresh coffee, which was met with a begrudging ok. another couple then arrived in the dinning room and because there were dirty plates on every table, and no juice, coffee, milk etc thought they had missed breakfast( even though there was an hour to go) an started to leave, when I told them , no they were not late. when they were finally asked what they wanted by the manageress, scrambled eggs were discouraged as in her words " fried eggs were easier" the quality of every element of breakfast and the staff were well below expectation.

Review 133:quiet room considering it's over a pub

Review 134:the hotel was ideally situated on the main street in Ringwood and we were fortunate enough to visit when the French Market was on - right in front of the hotel! there were a good few restaurants and pubs around for evening entertainment and only a short drive in to the heart of the New Forest. Ideally situated if you're booked in to GoApe. The hotel provided free car parking for the entirety of our stay and the staff were helpful and polite.

Review 135:The only downside was that room had damp in places however its was clean and well presented .

Review 136:Location extremely central and staff go the extra mile to make you feel welcome. Changed room first day due to stairs and bathroom light in room 5 not working without any fuss . Manager Amanda and her staff team friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Will be vsiting again without a doubt.

Review 137:Room comfortable and clean but only 1 towel provided for 3 of us! Requested more towels at bar (never anyone on reception) and was duly given more towels and bath mat. Toilet in bathroom situated in very tight corner. Bath plug broken, no chain, so had to remove plug with pliers (luckily had own!). Chest of drawers were unusable as linings looked like they'd had coffee poured on them and had loose screws rolling around but wardrobe was fine for hanging clothes. Booked 'family' room which is not ideally located as right at front of pub on high street, above bar and entrance where people congregate to smoke outside front door (lots of noise, swearing, dog barking etc) - not brilliant when one is trying to get a young child to sleep! Not to mention if hot in room and wanted window open (which was also broken!) you'd also be breathing in fag smoke. Bathroom could do with blackout blinds as not sure everyone on high street should be able to see one using toilet and shower/bath! Could also benefit from a few hooks to hang towels/clothes on. Ate in restaurant downstairs in pub. Low quality 'pub grub' at best. Ordered pasta dishes but were told menu had changed so they didn't have ANY pasta! Would not recommend for family purposes.

Review 138:Greeted by a friendly member of staff on arrival who explained everything, including how to use the TV remote! Good choice of breakfast with prompt service but ensure early arrival as limited seating. Other guests were arriving with nowhere to sit so had to stand around.

Review 139:Pleasant staff, good food and a comfortable room - even had a 4-poster! Although there were quite a few other guests, you wouldn't know. Quiet and peaceful.
