Reviews for Queens Court Hotel

Review 1:The atmosphere in the restaurant was non existent. We were given different menus each and the desert was awful.

Review 2:When I complained about the desert, the waitress was kind enough to deduct the cost of the desert and a bottle of wine from the bill.

Review 3:The hotel was dirty staff was really rood waited half hour outside for them to open door Beeding was dirty found condom on the floor very upset and disapointed what a waste of time and money

Review 4:The hotel was dirty

Review 5:Very convenient location: city center, train stations, shops are really close. Breakfast was very well cooked. There is also an elevator which serves two out of three floors.

Review 6:It was very noisy. We had a room next to the lift shaft which made quite a lot of noise, but this was dwarfed by the noise from the disco late on Friday night. We weren't warned of this event and no-one apologised in the morning. In fact, the receptionist was particularly unwelcoming and the staff score has only been redeemed by the very pleasant young man who served us breakfast.

Review 7:Very convenient location and pleasant room.

Review 8:Room 101 large clean quiet room . large TV, bath/shower Parking in square just in front of hotel £6.20 for 24hrs. As with any other city centre if you can find a space . Full English Breakfast looked as if it had been dropped on the plate from a height but tasted good.

Review 9:Breakfast very good but could do with more than a teaspoon of baked beans! We felt sorry for a couple next to us who waited more than an hour to be served.

Review 10:Room very comfortable with excellent TV. Hotel very good for city centre.

Review 11:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 12:The staff couldn't have been more helpful. They went out of their way to ensure we had what we wanted from a little milk to information about the city. The hotel was spotless. The breakfast was superb, the choice very good and the cooked food was cooked for us, it hadn't been sitting around for half an hour.

Review 13:Rooms were tired, bedding wasn't up to standard i'd expect, not great value for the money.

Review 14:Breakfast was great and staff were attentive and helpful.

Review 15:We much appreciated the peace and quiet; we always prefer to be left alone with the minimum of attention. Your staff were superb: ready to help but unobtrusive. Well done them and well done the management.

Review 16:Floor not level in room or bathroom which also meant the bed wasn't level felt like you were rolling out of it dirty grout between tiles in bathroom also put in a loft room which was tiny bed was also small even though it was a double bed

Review 17:Breakfast was good

Review 18:Mattress very uncomfortable. Floors very creaky. TV no signal. Restaurant unavailable as fully booked to non-hotel guests. Breakfast not served until 7.30am (too late for business travellers!)

Review 19:Staff were friendly and room was well equipped and looked nice.

Review 20:The hotel was a little tired, especially the bathrooms but very clean, the carpet in the bedroom was quite stained which isn't a great look

Review 21:The hotel was in a great location, was a great price and an inclusive cooked breakfast was also...great!!

Review 22:The room we stayed in had an exceptionally thin window or something. You could make out the conversations of people walking by on the street outside. And since it is right on the main road going through town you could also hear the cars going by all night.

Review 23:We booked just 1 day in advance and they were the only hotel on booking.com to have availability within a very large radius for a decent price. It is extremely convenient to the sushi restaurant which provided a fabulous meal. The breakfast options were fantastic... I had the eggs benedict with salmon which was prepared perfectly!

Review 24:Breakfast was nice but 1 rasher of bacon when I only order mushrooms and eggs seemed a little squeezed... I paid for parking outside I didnt know in advance I would have got a permit for parking I dont recall seeing that in the hotel information

Review 25:Great location nice large room with a decent flat screen - water warm and shower powerful just lacked direction/height adjustment

Review 26:Some decor could do with updating and a little closer to detail on cleaning. Stray hair in bathroom were not mine.

Review 27:Breakfast amazing even though it was busy the staff where overly friendly and helpful. Beds soo comfortable

Review 28:Flowers on tables at breakfast time needed to be replaced. But breakfast choice was excellent!

Review 29:Excellent location. Friendly staff. Having breakfast as part of the cost. Having a bath as well as a shower.

Review 30:There was a stale bad smell in the room. Squeaky doors. The upgrade I was offered (large double room instead of standard double room) stated "a large bed (151-180cm)"; instead I got a room with a standard double bed and an additional single bed.

Review 31:Good location, only a few minutes' walk from the centre. Good breakfast.

Review 32:We stayed on the 3rd floor and it was very sloped, which made the bed quite hard to stay in! The room was in the eves so had to be careful not to bang your head. Shower needs updating.

Review 33:Lovely hotel really close to the city centre.

Review 34:There's no 24 hour reception but it wasn't a problem.

Review 35:Beautiful well maintained old building. Warm welcome. Eggs Benedict and real coffee for breakfast. Lovely room with a huge bathroom.

Review 36:Selected this hotel for two reasons: ample parking and in-house restaurant. Not until I arrived was I told the ample parking was a public car park that I needed to pay for before 6pm and after 9am. Restaurant was a joke. I booked this hotel because it had a restaurant and I didn't want to have to traipse around Exeter after arriving around 7.45 pm. Told restaurant would take orders up to 8.45pm. Freshened up in room, took a quick shower, returned downstairs by 0820pm, to be told chef had decided to go home despite knowing I was coming down and expecting a meal. Very poor and disappointing. Forced to wander around a strange city looking for something to eat at about 9pm. Not a happy customer.

Review 37:One room had very uneven floor - enough to make you feel dizzy. Baked beans at breakfast were served cold

Review 38:Location was excellent for walking in to city

Review 39:Cleanliness was poor. Lots of dust everywhere including door frames, architrave. I know it's an old building but floor was slopping badly which made the bed slope as well. Room was in loft space so limited head height. Internet had issues so major issues connecting laptop to it. Reception not always manned and have to wait for someone to appear. Hotel decor a little dates and needs repainting and freshening up. Car parking is chargeable at car park.

Review 40:Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good quality. Reception was very helpful when issues with internet. Could see that staff enjoyed working at hotel. Room coffee facilities were good. TV with decent signal. Hair dryer supplied and ironing facilities available. Location is 10min walk from town centre.

Review 41:The kitchen and bar staff should be aware that you can hear every word they say in the restaurant - so our advice to them would be to lower their voices!

Review 42:Okay so lots of reviews said that the place needs to be updated - it does but it's no big deal considering it's clean and good value. The Olive Tree restaurant is amazing - they served the best Mushroom Risotto ever. The most incredible part was that the room price included full breakfast - anything off the menu plus buffet with cereal, juice, yoghurt, and Danish pastries! Most other hotels were 15-25 pounds more without breakfast.

Review 43:The room we were given was nice and had everything we needed. However it was in the basement so had no view and was right next to the kitchen of the busy hotel resturant and therefore noisey at night due to noise from the kitchen and the extractor fans that were constantly on the go. Room was warm but windows could not be opened due to noise and smells from the kitchen. Also on the Saturday morning the resturant was very busy and the hotel had run out of breakfast items including bowls- when we asked for bowls they said we would have to wait until they had washed some, fruit, yoghurts and cereal were all empty- was not impressed.

Review 44:Some of the staff were quite friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a good spot not too far or near the city centre. The hotel was very clean and tidy

Review 45:Whole hotel has quite a dated feel, could do with redecorating Would be nice to have fresh fruit available at breakfast, tinned fruit cocktail feels a bit dated

Review 46:Very friendly and helpful staff. We arrived very early but they kindly let us use a room to change for a graduation ceremony

Review 47:The breakfast was a little bit disappointing, in both quantity and quality. Specifically the toast, soggy upon arrival at the table

Review 48:The room was as expected with nothing terribly memorable except for the bathroom. Huge and a bit luxurious. The shower was a bit fiddly but once you get it going it was a great massage shower.

Review 49:Lack of separate shower

Review 50:I an writing on behalf of my mother and her friend (the 2 Mrs Fallas). They enjoyed three days they spent at Queens Court very much. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfasts superb and the room was clean and comfortable. The only problem they had was the shower being over the bath, and as they are both over eighty they found (after giving it a go the first night) themselves unable to get in and out of the bath safely. This is no reflection on the hotel whatsoever, and if they stayed again, which they would be more than happy to do, would request a room with a walk-in shower. They both enjoyed their stay immensley and had nothing but praise for your staff. Theu would definitely recommend Queens Court

Review 51:On the day of our arrival we tried to call to confirm our booking and reserve a dinner table, however no one answered all morning despite multiple tries. One of our party arrived late, and it was a bit of a kerfuffle to get him so food to eat. At checkout few of our party found it difficult to find someone to actually checkout.

Review 52:Great location, good restaurant and decent breakfast. Perfect for a stop by in Exeter.

Review 53:Although we were told on arrival that we couldn't gain access to the room until after 3 pm due to it being cleaned top to bottom. I had cause to use the glass in the bathroom to take medication, the glass was filthy dirty which I only noticed whilst drinking the water.

Review 54:Breakfast was good and efficient.

Review 55:Only negative was the plumbing, water to the shower a bit erratic, but we managed easily.

Review 56:Hotel situated in an attractive square, close to Exeter Central station and within easy walking distance of High Street and the cathedral. Lovely breakfast, comfy room with tea making facilities.

Review 57:The carpet in the hall and bed room had several stains and could do with a professional clean. Beautiful bed but headboard had several stains on it.

Review 58:The room was very nice with all the usual amenities very hot water . we had a comfortable sleep

Review 59:Service was average and food a little overpriced at the Olive tree.

Review 60:Location is excellent, just a 3 min walk to the city center. Room is a good size, clean and well maintained. Bed extremely comfortable :) Breakfast was wonderful, yummy cooked English breakfast!

Review 61:I had noticed a slight unpleasant smell in the room when I checked in, but thought it must be my imagination. However when I woke in the morning the smell was very bad. It smelt as if the drains were blocked and there was a very bad smell indeed in the bathroom so that I didn’t enjoy washing or filling the kettle at all. My friend noticed the smell as soon as he walked into the room from the corridor.

Review 62:The parking is on street parking. This probably has to be accepted in a central town location.

Review 63:We chose Queens Court because of its location being a short walking distance yo the centre of Exeter. A further reason was their ability to deal with a gluten free diet. One of our party is a coeliac, many places say they can deal with GF but if questioned are not fully aware. This was not the case with QC. We rang prior to booking and were reassured by the responses received. Their service showed they are able to deal with gluten free diets as a matter of course.

Review 64:Parking is tricky. Good to know you can get £3/24hr parking ticket IF you can find space in J Zone. Ticket from reception.

Review 65:Everything and the breakfast

Review 66:The bed was very uncomfortable - two beds pushed together with both mattresses sagging in the middle and lump.

Review 67:Location, easy walk to town and St Davids Railway station. Large bright room with a big window that opens ! Friendly helpful staff.

Review 68:Great location, near to Train Station. Very comfy bed, great breakfast and very friendly staff. We will certainly stay stay here again. Excellent value for money.

Review 69:tables were being cleared and set for lunch when we were having breakfast. This made it less relaxing. More difficult to connect to wifi than normal

Review 70:room was comfortable and convenient for the center of Exeter. Had a bath which was a bonus Staff were helpful

Review 71:The room is in need of a clean and revamp. The cupboard under the sink was discusting, the wall by the radiator needed a wash and need a clean behind bathroom door.Bed sank in the middle

Review 72:The staff were friendly and helpful

Review 73:Nothing :) will stay again for sure

Review 74:Thankyou to the lovely staff for being so accomadating when my partner requested an early check in. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Clean, comfy bed, large spacious room with all you need. Close to Exeter city centre. Quiet hotel

Review 75:Rather faded and in need of serious refurbishment. The only really bad element was the fact that whilst the bath did have a glass shower door, there was a clingy shower curtain over the window and no way to move it out of my way - ugh!

Review 76:Good location and pleasant staff

Review 77:Being chased for payment as soon as we arrived as Booking.com stated they had deducted the first nights accommodation 24 hours prior to arrival.

Review 78:Food was first class.

Review 79:Hotel bar only had drinks and no snacks. Come on Queens,it's not rocket science to sell crisps or nuts!

Review 80:Comfortable bed,a real bath, decent wifi. Breakfast was nice too.

Review 81:One minor point, there was no milk pouches left in room to add to our tea.

Review 82:Breakfast was excellent, probably the best traditional English breakfast we've had in a hotel and in very conducive surroundings as well

Review 83:Floor boards above were creaky but it's an old property so to be expected.

Review 84:Great staff, lovely room and good location. Will stay again. I didn't have breakfast so can't rate that.

Review 85:It's a lovely old building, so the rooms are not of equal size and there is no air cooling (so the rooms at the very top, quaint and characterful as they are, can get rather stifling in the heat of the summer).

Review 86:It's a smaller hotel than others, which makes it much more 'cosy'. The Breakfasts are excellent, and staff extremely friendly and efficient. I have stayed many times on business and not had a bad experience.

Review 87:Trying to park when we first arrived. But this was not a major issue.

Review 88:Very handy for town center and railway stations. The reason why we stayed was to go to watch the rugby at Sandy Park, and this was an ideal location for this.

Review 89:Only downside for me was that free wifi only available in lounge but this would not deter me from staying here again

Review 90:~Great location with a council car park just opposite the hotel. ~Close to both St Davids and Central Station, City Centre and Northernhay Park. ~Really friendly staff ~Lovely breakfast menu - can't believe it's included in the price. This hotel beats the Premier Inn on every level!!!

Review 91:Small inconvenience: there are no city maps and bus scheme at reception

Review 92:Amazing restaurant, though food is pretty expensive even with 15% discount proposed by the hotel Comfortable and clean room

Review 93:Badly needs a deep clean (headboard stained) No central heating in our room with no warning on our arrival. Seriousy needs a well overdue renovation.

Review 94:Excellent breakfast in Olive Tree next door

Review 95:Paid for breakfast but due to prior arrangements never actually managed to try it.no-one's fault just our plans got in the way. I believe it's enjoyable. Didn't require room being made up but this also meant refreshments weren't replenished.

Review 96:Staff are always polite, courteous and professional. Very welcoming!

Review 97:No allocated free parking. Wifi didn't work in our room.

Review 98:Very clean hotel with nice furniture and great centric location. Rooms are big enough and very comfortable. The restaurant at the hotel serves really nice food.

Review 99:Key for the front door didn't work so had to stand outside knocking on the door ringing the phone number given for about an hour before another couple staying happened to be coming back and let us in

Review 100:Spacious enough

Review 101:Parking was stated as self parking in their own zones but no mention of additional cost. There was use of public car parking, directly across the road from the Queens Court Hotel, but needed to pay prior to 8am the following morning as per additional length of stay.

Review 102:Taking the payment on checkout Staff friendly Very good breakfast

Review 103:I was on the top floor near the lift and could heAR IT MOVING.

Review 104:Great good-value hotel, good breakfast hot shower, it even has a pool and sauna ! The staff were great.

Review 105:Room was pokey, Tall people would had problems we were cramped in the eves of what was a badly done loft conversion. Luckily we were only staying one night. Bathroom let down by mould on tile grouting.

Review 106:Interactions with staff was fine.

Review 107:Parking can be an issue. In this day & age there should be free internet connection in bedrooms

Review 108:Location of hotel & friendly & helpful staff

Review 109:We stayed there for two nights over the weekend. The hotel is centrally located which makes a perfect base for exploring the sights of Exeter. Beautiful old building with a lot of character.

Review 110:Our room was on the 3rd floor. There were no lights on the stairs in the hours of darkness. The floor in the bedroom was uneven due to the age of the property but this resulted in the bed being on a slant which made it quite precarious to turn over and I had to be careful so as not to roll off the edge of the bed.

Review 111:The breakfast, plenty of choice, tasted delicious and beautifully presented

Review 112:Found champagne cork under bedroom chair from previous occupants - so how thorough was cleaning?

Review 113:Excellent for walking into city. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Friendly serving staff.

Review 114:might have been a bit small for two people

Review 115:really lovely room, décor and bedlinen a delight, bath great and bathroom spacious. parking only 2 pounds for 24hrs right outside hotel. Spaces midweek - might not be at weekends. Excellent breakfasts

Review 116:Old carpets that don't look very hygenic... Badly isolated windows..

Review 117:Nice people, beautiful location in Exeter, nice restaurant and entrance design.

Review 118:We were in the loft so the roof beams are a little low when manoeuvring around the bed No lift to the third floor as it stops at second so heavy bags needed to be carried up the last bit

Review 119:Close proximity to the university The a la carte breakfast Friendliness of staff Helpfulness of reception staff Size of room and bathroom Would def return and recommend

Review 120:I could not stay longer and enjoy the food and pleasant surroundings.

Review 121:Spending much of my overnight stays in soulless chain hotels, it was an absolute pleasure to stay at the Queens Court.

Review 122:Nothing

Review 123:Restaurant was excellent. Breakfast, plenty of choice to suit everyone. Very comfortable and clean. Staff very helpful. Excellent location to town centre.

Review 124:The staff were warm, efficient and friendly. Laura is a star employee and a fantastic asset to the business. As a result, The Queens Court, in my view, is definitely the place to stay when visiting Bristol.

Review 125:The staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help. The room was large and very we'll laid out. Very clean and comfortable. Dining facilities and food excellent.

Review 126:nothing

Review 127:very close to both stations and also to city centre and university friendly and helpful staff comfortable room excellent breakfast good value for money

Review 128:The Queens Court was very comfortable and an excellent alternative to a nondescript hotel room in a chain hotel. Really felt like you were in a comfortable townhouse and the staff couldn't do enough to make the stay enjoyable.

Review 129:We only stayed overnight but parking and cost could be an issue for a longer stay.

Review 130:Easy walking distance into Exeter but very quiet location.Lovely public rooms.

Review 131:Room was far too hot, so we had to keep the windows open: we had the fan on quite a lot, and were glad we had it, but it was not effective enough. We asked for an alarm call at 6.30am, but didn't receive one. We would have liked an overhead shower. We needed breakfast earlier than 7.30am, as we had to leave the hotel by 8am (for a graduation), so where we paid £8 for breakfast, we had insufficient time for a cooked breakfast and only had cereal & toast. Also the decor in the restaurant was confused & mismatched. In the top floor bedroom, we were uncomfortable with the slanted ceiling, as it was a safety hazard.

Review 132:Located near railway station, car park, university and city centre. Hairdryer. Soap smelled nice. Good tea and coffee selection, but would have liked more. TV was good for reception, although small screen. The lounge area was attractive and we liked the headboards and bed lights, along with the bedding.

Review 133:Not much; some air handling/conditioning would be a real improvement (we stayed in July)

Review 134:Most things; but, in particular, the staff, our bed and the food.

Review 135:The surfaces in the bedroom were very dusty with sugar and biscuit crumbs. There was no hairdryer, although the staff quickly provided one. The furniture is looking rather tired and past its best.

Review 136:The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Location was convenient.

Review 137:Cleanliness, helpful staff , good ambience , Uptodate standards

Review 138:Very comfortable at a good price.
