Reviews for Lyndhurst Guest House

Review 1:Nothing it was great

Review 2:This is a great b&b , very warm and friendly , great breakfast, room was a little on the small side but it wasn't a problem .

Review 3:Excellent landlady and staff! Despite Yvonne having had her own accomodation flooded she has kept her business open and still maintained a very high level of customer service! Room was lovely and clean with extra's such as a piece of homemade cake upon arrival! Breakfast was fab! Would highly recommend! :)

Review 4:Yvonne was a great hostess. She was flooded out of her own accommodation due to Storm Desmond and did not let this affect her service to her guests at all, despite what must have been an exceptionally stressful time. Amazing!

Review 5:(Nothing bad, but I would also have liked a desk or dressing table suitable for doing some work on my laptop.)

Review 6:Comfortable and generally well-equipped room. Free piece of cake on arrival. Excellent breakfast. Helpful and sensible owner.

Review 7:Lynhurst Guest House had really nice well equiped rooms. Easy parking outside. Wonderful staff that was very helpful. Olov, Nyckelharpist from Sweden

Review 8:Yvonne , the landlady was a breath of fresh air,she is wacky, bright and bubbly and gave us a lovely welcome with plenty of local knowledge to help us with our stay, breakfast was fab and we had a great 3 night break. Will definatley stay again.

Review 9:Lyndhurst House has all the ingredients for a good B £ B experience; value for money; location; high professional standards; friendliness and individuality.

Review 10:Having to go home wish we could have stayed longer

Review 11:Excellent landlady nothing too much trouble for her very helpful about where to eat and visit wonderful breakfast great location for travelling around

Review 12:Although the landlady is German she had a great knowledge of the lake district and after asking us what we wanted out of our trip, came up with a variety of suggestions for us along with maps and other literature. Very helpful, friendly, talkative ☺ and mad! ☺☺. Would definitely recommend.

Review 13:Yvonne contacted me after my booking to see if I had any additional needs. I explained to her that I was working and would not be able to check in during her allotted times. This was no problem at all and she arranged for me to be able to collect my welcome pack at a time suitable to me. When I arrived is was 10.30pm and I found a personalised note which made me feel very welcome and when I got to my room she'd given me a slice of home-made cake (which was delicious) and my bed room was very comfortable and exactly what I needed at the end of a long working day! My breakfast was lovely and the staff were very accommodating and gave me everything I needed. The hotel is very central and I walked to both Kendal Castle and the town centre easily. Parking was free and easily found on a nearby street. Yvonne is a great host and I enjoyed talking with her and the other guests during breakfast!

Review 14:Lovely 'Wicked Landlady' full off kindness and care. Excellent location and beautiful area. Old and interesting. Loved the 'Kendal Mint Cake!' :-)

Review 15:Accessing the guesthouse is awkward if you aren't familiar with Kendal so a clear indication on the website about the access route would be helpful...ie: the street access.

Review 16:Like so many other reviewers, it is the hostess herself who helps to make a stay here so special. Zany clothes are matched by attention to detail and cleanliness and the food is certainly above average.

Review 17:The wonderful landlady, Yvonne - she was so welcoming and friendly. Not the usual type of landlady but definitely the best we've ever had. Our room, although not luxurious, was light and airy, spotlessly clean, very comfortable and had everything we could possibly need - plus amazing breakfasts.

Review 18:Everything The best B&B we have ever stayed in the staff where the best that you could ask for. The Landlady was the best landlady I have ever come across will be staying there again very soon.

Review 19:It was an excellent stay. Do not be put off by the 'wicked landlady' persona. She really is not that, and will go the extra mile for her guests. Rooms well -appointed . Home made cake . Shower hot and easy to use. Super breakfast, great choice - we all had the home made pancakes ,local bacon and peaches, after home made muesli ,yoghourt, then toast, coffee. Very good night. Very good price. No hesitation in returning here ! Nice town too. A refreshing stay. We wish our 'wicked landlady 'well .

Review 20:I did not have any bad experience at all. Very enjoyable.

Review 21:I stayed for 3 nights and had a fantastic time. The owner (Yvonne) was so accommodating that she made me feel at home. She also came out to the car to help with my luggage (which was very much appreciated). I had room 1 which was very comfortable with riverside view. The bed was comfortable and clean. Yvonne also interacted with her guests and knew each one by first name. The staff was also very friendly. Breakfast was lovely and filling. The B&B is located in a very good spot as not to far from the town centre and Kendal Castle. I walked from the B & B, which is within walking distance to Kendal Castle which was up a steep hill (in some places) but well worth it when you reach the top. Yvonne, I just wanted to say thank you very much for having me and for making my stay comfortable, enjoyable and memorable. Yvonne is known as the 'Wicked Landlady' but not in the way you may be thinking.... She is WITTY, FULL OF LAUGHTER and is a CHARACTER. I would definitely come back and stay here again. I must not forget Scouter (The Dog) she is so gorgeous and friendly. Keep it up Yvonne and all the very best.

Review 22:there was nothing to dislike

Review 23:clean rooms good mattress good breakfast. yvonne was very friendly and welcoming. when we arrived there was home made cake(yummy) in our room, which was a nice touch. and when we left a slab of kendal mint cake. overall we had a very good stay.

Review 24:Personal preference to be honest the bed wasn't the most comfortable but you could cope with it!

Review 25:Yvonne was great, so friendly we felt right at home! It was our anniversary and she told us the best restaurant in town and she was definitely right!!! Its a great Base to go out touring the rest of the lakes and the rooms are just delightful! Perfect!!

Review 26:Having a sitting room to relax in would have just lifted the score to a 10

Review 27:Very attentive owner helpful with directions, advice re where to eat good pubs etc loved the home baking left in our room cooked breakfast was excellent

Review 28:The friendly welcome and the extra touches in the room eg a bottle of water and home made cake.It was the second time we had stayed there and we were not disappointed.

Review 29:It's not that we didn't like this but would have been nice to give the chance to change our choice of breakfast on the second day. It was assumed we would go for the same option.

Review 30:You can feel that the flamboyant landlady Yvonne really loves running the B+B. Extra touch like cakes waiting for you in your room on arrival. The following day it was fresh biscuits. The toiletries are not the ordinary stuff you find on the high street. The bed and towels smell fresh, clean and lovely. Most of all we like the Wicked Landlady Yvonne.

Review 31:Homely, comfortable, very clean, attention to detail, fresh cake in our room on arrival and fresh baked ginger biscuits in our room the following day. On arrival was sat down with a map of places to go eat, drink see etc. In all the B&B's & hotels we have been too no-one has been so helpful, amazing jolly landlady!

Review 32:The little crochet grey doillies and crochet items everywhere ....so old fashioned. The stairs...

Review 33:The breakfast, the little extras in the bedroom, like lemon water and really good quality biscuits. Also home baked goodies from Yvonne. The owner Yvonne.she's as mad as a box of frogs.

Review 34:Yvonne, the landlady, on arrival, gave us a town guide with her guidance on where to go for various meals/drink etc. She also gave us a bus timetable and a ,map of Cumbria. That guidance helped us enormously during our stay.

Review 35:Extremely helpful and accommodating landlady. Very clean and tidy everywhere. Good location. Excellent free parking on the road outside. Highly recommended.

Review 36:Nothing.

Review 37:The location of the guest house which was 5 minutes walk into Kendal, but set in a quiet area, also not too far from Lake Windermere. Yvonne the owner of the guest house, who was very welcoming, but zany to say the least, cooked a good breakfast and left her own home-made cake and biscuits for when we returned from our travels and who was more like a friend than a land-lady. Comfortable bed, clean room, a good variety of drinks satches- including fresh milk if required- and clean shower room. Thank you Yvonne for making our stay special and we will see you again next year hopefully.x

Review 38:The landlady Yvonne and her staff kept the house extremely clean and the breakfasts were great. We even had linen napkins on the table and real milk in our bedroom plus a bottle of fresh water with lemon every day.

Review 39:Not a thing.

Review 40:The owner of the guest house was great and the house its self was clean and tidy to a high standard. We Had a great 5 Night stay with a good full English to start the day. What more can I say.

Review 41:From the welcome to leaving Yvonne was first class she made my short stay very enjoyable if I'm in Kendal again I would definitely stay at the Lyndhurst again.

Review 42:there was a relaxing and friendly atmosphere, and it was a perfect base for touring the southern half of the Lake District. I would recommend this guest house to anyone. I really appreciated the home baking and the Kendal Mint Cake!

Review 43:Ok..so there is good customer service and there is absolutely amazing customer service ...lyndhurst is right up there...we have felt home from the moment we walked in the door. We got recommended the places around to check out, things to do, chose our breakfast type, organic soap in the bathroom, home made cake in the bedroom, left our luggage for later check out...we felt really special all the way long. The only negative that we can think of is that we only stayed one night !!!! Highly recommended place.

Review 44:A small gripe - having to choose the breakfast in advance.

Review 45:Friendly welcome. All the extra details (fresh milk, baking, suggested things to do, interesting breakfast) that made the Lyndhurst stand out.

Review 46:Very friendly 'wicked landlady' (her words!). She left two pieces of home-made cake in the room as a 'welcome'. My husband said it was great - he should know, he ate both of them! Lovely freshly cooked breakfast.

Review 47:Beds were a bit noisy if I had to choose something

Review 48:Great service all round. Breakfast couldn't have been better and everything was well organised. Wi-Fi connected easily and a fantastic shower.

Review 49:this b&b has no faults

Review 50:this place is a gem, land lady was very welcoming, the room was so clean and tidy, was home from home, made to feel very comfortable

Review 51:A great B&B, lovely warm welcome awaited us even though we arrived late. Good breakfast, plenty to eat, cake & biscuits awaited in room. Nice room at the top, very comfortably bed and everything kept clean. We would come back again.

Review 52:On arrival we were given a very friendly welcome and explanation of our room and the times for breakfast the next day. The rooms had everything we required including tea/coffee and cake each day (nice touch). Yvonne "the landlady" having owned the house for sometime was very knowledgeable about the area and places to visit and restaurants etc.

Review 53:Great location for Kendal centre. Easy and very pleasure walk into town along the river Kent. Amazingly helpful staff. Yvonne is just so incredibly enthusiatic about ensuring everyone has a great stay.

Review 54:The owner was very accommodating and friendly throughout our stay. The location was excellent for easy access to the national park as well as having good options for dinner in the town on returning from a day out. There are different options for breakfast and all that we tried were great!

Review 55:A little far from bus station if relying on public transport and unfortunately too regimented on the time slots to attend breakfast which need to be the same time each day for the duration of your stay.

Review 56:Great size room with good shower & tasty breakfast good freshly, was a nice touch with a welcome cake/tea/biscuits and fresh water in the room.

Review 57:Very good location next the river. Room was very spacious and clean. Lovely comfortable bed. Porridge was a choice on breakfast menu which was best i've ever tasted!. Yvonne made us very welcome and anything we needed we just had to ask. Would highly recommend

Review 58:The en-suite shower room was a bit chilly as it was the external corner of the house, and had no radiator. There was a heater but I only found the switch after I'd had a shower.

Review 59:The location was very convenient for the centre of Kendal. The bed was extremely comfortable. Among the various beverages offered in the room was a sachet of real ground coffee! Breakfast was generous and tasty.

Review 60:Yvonne was such a good host, full of good advice and a good cook, really lovely breakfast. The room was a good size and had a lovely view over the river. The bed was really comfortable, I slept so well.

Review 61:Having to leave.

Review 62:Outstanding hostess with the mostess, giving us cake on arrival, a birthday card for my wife and a cupcake at breakfast. Breakfast is awesome. Made to feel extremely welcome.

Review 63:I've never been too enamored with spring mattresses (it's a personal thing) and, being 1.88 m tall, they were a bit too short for me.

Review 64:Yvonne, the landlady, will stop at nothing to provide for our comfort. No breakfast request goes un-fulfilled. And she's really funny, too! The rest of the staff is also friendly and efficient. The location is fab, just by the river, in a very quiet part of town and still very close to everything that matters.

Review 65:The landlady! A character, but in a nice way, nothing was too much trouble from the moment we walked through the door to when we left, will certainly go again

Review 66:NO BAD XPERINCES HERE

Review 67:We liked the check in .We were earlier than we stated but that was not a problem. Yvonne the landlady was very welcoming and gave us a map of where we could eat and drink with phone numbers included. The bedroom was clean and comfortable and included tea and coffee making facilities and cake and biscuits. The guest house is within easy walking distance to bars pubs and restaurants . Breakfast was well cooked and was made more pleasant being able to look over the river Yvonne is always contactable if you have a problem such as a blown light bulb All in all a very satisfactory visit with a hostess who will go that one step further

Review 76:Our room on the top floor was small but absolutely adequate. The beds were very comfortable and the shower hot. Our host, Yvonne, got up really early on the Saturday to make us a delicious breakfast because we had to start work at 7.30.

Review 92:We had to come home!

Review 93:Yvonne is not the average landlady. She's witty, effervescent and NOTHING is too much trouble. She suggests where to go in Kendal, remembers your name, provides fresh milk in the rooms, and these are just some of the ways she makes you welcome. Her staff are just as good!

Review 94:Excellent breakfast. Whilst the room was not large, it was comfortable and the landlady is very welcoming. Great value for money and very handy for Kendal town centre.

Review 101:Yvonne was very welcoming and friendly. Our room was lovely, bed very comfortable, lovely touches of cake and biscuits left daily. we would definitely return here for another visit.

Review 102:leaving!

Review 103:proper shampoo and shower gel rather than those nondescript individual goo portions specially produced for the hotel industry that no one in their right minds would buy for themselves! Very good breakfast too

Review 104:Yvonne was absolutely fantastic and did everything she could do to make us feel welcome. My husband and I are both coeliac and she had gluten free biscuits , cakes , sausages and toast for us which we really appreciated. Breakfast was lovely . She also gave us some Kendal mint cake and a sunflower seed to plant ! Would definitely recommend staying there .

Review 105:Yvonne really made us feel welcome. She gave us excellent tipps for sightseing and restaurants for our four days in the Lake District. The breakfast was tasty and made and served with love. The room was quiet and we enjoyed the view over the river. We surely will stay in Lyndhurst Guest House again. Herzlichen Dank, Yvonne. Wir haben uns rundum wohlgefühlt bei dir.

Review 106:Their is nothing we really didn't like, but beware as this is a bed and breakfast, you may find the bathroom a little small. But for a short break this really wasn't a problem for us.

Review 107:This bed and breakfast is close enough to the centre of Kendal (a short walk), near the river Kent but in a quiet area. Yvonne the landlady provided excellent customer service, advice and support. Yvonne and her staff couldn't do enough to help us. We immediately were given a room upgrade, as soon as Yvonne realised it was our wedding anniversary, which included a Super King-sized Bed. We also received a welcome pack, which included homemade cake and lemon water. Once Yvonne knew the reason for our stay, and what we wanted to do, Yvonne provided us with a map and ideas and directions for walks. Her niece even gave us a lift to the starting point of one walk. The healthy breakfast provided was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. We even received a gift on our departure. Well worth the stay.

Review 108:Great B&B, awesome landlady who does everything for her guests including giving you all the Information you need about Kendal as well as printing maps for all your desired activities. 10 out of 10 for this great guesthouse!!

Review 109:Yvonne is a great host, once met never forgotten!. Her breakfast is second to none and the location is good for the towns pubs and restaurants with a lovely walk along the river. Would go there again.
