The Golden Bay is right on the beach in Agii Apostoli, 2.5 miles west of Chania. An outdoor pool and terrace are featured on site. Accommodations include cooking facilities, balcony and views of the sea or pool.

Only after you give your credit card number and you are aclick away from finishing your booking this "minor info"appears in thin letters between the lines. Legal? But is it ethical too?Changed room after day 1 (we were informed about it AFTER booking). WE FOUND A COCKROACH walking on our pillows!!! (the next day they disinfect the whole place. Couldn't they have done that earlier?). Kids didn't sleep out of shock and we didn't out of pillows. They charged 6 Euros for one hour of use of the sunbeds (from 18:30 to 19:30)

It is highly recommended for those who want to make the trip to the beach Alfonissi (an hour and a half away) and those who want peace and still be close (less than 10 minutes drive) to chania center and port

Review 13：No Wifi connection in the room we stayed. The fridge never worked properly in our apt had to throw away nearly all the food.

Review 19：Apartment is half way below pool deck and topless retirees were the common view at eye level right out of the window. Extra hard beds with firm lumpy pillows made it impossible to have a restful sleep. It was a torture in fact. Very uncomfortable. I had to rewash all very basic kitchenware. All kitchen equipment was worn out. There's nothing to see or do in the village except swimming. Environment beside the sea is unattractive. All tavernas serve the same menu, no sea food. Options in small supermarkets are very very limited. Not the place to return .

Review 39：modern appartments, very clean, with a lovely pool and right by the beach. The bar serves drinks/snacks all day with a beautiful view and the mini supermarket is really well stocked with yummy fresh bread from the bakery for breakfast. Local restaurants are fine but easy to grab a taxi to Chania (8 euro) for more choice.

Review 40：When booking the room, I saw nice pictures on the booking.com page. When I arrived, i realized it wasn't showing what are really the room in this hotel. The room was in the basement, 8 steps below the ground. There was a huge smell of moisture that they tried to cover with a toilet deodorant, the room what disgusting (shower was plug due to the blond hairs of the previous lady that was in that 'room'). The pillow where about 30 years old and digusting, same for the bed. In addition the room was invaded by mote which also show the cleanliness of the place. Hopefully after we complained (3 times) they agreed to give us another room for the second night that was the last for us in this establishment.

Review 47：For 130euros/night there could be a welcome drink for a personaltouch. A bottle of cool water perhaps waiting in our room? There was nochannels to watch in the tv but not a big deal for us. There was nostaff to help with the luggage. Reception is open at limited times whichseemed a bit awkward at first but it wasn't a problem at the end.There wasn't any sponge and detergent so we left most of the dishesfor the cleaner to do which was fine too!!

Review 48：The superior studio with sea view was soo comfortable. The wifi workedwell in general. The location superb right on the beach and localbuses(1.5 Euros) to Chania town every 10min from opposite the hotel ortaxi (7euros) from next to the hotel . Everything at the room workedwell with a good selection of dishes, pans, cups, glasses and a coffeemaker for filter coffee. The beach is great for children with goldensand and shallow waters. You can play with the waves for hours. Minimarket around the corner and plenty of restaurants to choose from. Thereis also an organic mini market 200meters away. The staff very relaxed,accommodating and friendly. The staff at the pool bar was abovestandards, truly superb. We spent there some lovely and entertainingnights. We started our evenings at the pool bar watching amazingsunsets. The guests, a mixture of Scandinavian, Greeks, etc made for agood atmosphere. The pool was great fun too. There are plenty of thingsto do and see in the wider area which is beautiful. I would definitelygo back if again in Crete.

Review 49："Standard apartment" (4 people) is under pool level. Get as minimum a "superior apartment".

Review 51：Air conditioner did not work entire stay even after bringing it toattention of front desk several times (even during scheduled regulationtimes of operation)...and on our first night there were a few roachesscurrying across floor when lights were turned on.

Review 53：We really enjoyed staying at the golden bay. the staff was friendly and up-graded our room as we booked so early in the year. the location of the hotel is right on the beach and there is another smaller but even nicer beach right around the corner. there is a local bus to chania nearby.

Review 54：no railings to hold onto on the external stairs this is a danger. no view from elow pool level apartments and no warmth in them from the sun so appartment was always cold hard pillows pool only has easy access steps into the children's section.

Review 56：The only major problem is the fact that you have to pay your sunbeds atthe hotel’s beach. As a result, when the hotel is full all sunbeds atthe swimming pool are “taken” from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. because nobody wantsto pay the sunbeds at the beach which are, by the way, about 6€ for acouple of sunbeds. We really thought that’s not good managed from thehotel, I don’t think that they would lose a lot by “offering” thesunbeds at the beach to the hotel guests. On the contrary, it wouldavoid the displeasure to see that more than half of sunbeds are occupiedby towels every morning when you wake up. Otherwise, there are onlydetails and it will depend on your expectations like the wifi which isvery,veeerrryyyyyy slowwwwwww.(often you should consider there is nowifi, would be better for your nerves). In our studio, two windowsdidn’t have curtains, so the light comes early, and there were nosunshade on the balcony so when you eat there, it could be too hot forsome people.

Review 57：The location is very good near Chania with a nice beach, there is alwaystaxis at 50m from the hotel if you need it. The staff is helpful; theydo their best to please you. There is a mini market and a snack bar atthe hotel and two supermarkets at 500m. The snack bar is really nice,great view, not too expensive. We had a superior studio which is reallynice, with a balcony on the sea. We didn’t hear any noise from the otherrooms and generally speaking the hotel is quite calm (it certainlydepends on your dates).

Review 60：Have very little negative to say about Golden Bay. Aircon- is regulated by hotel so turns off automatically at certain hours- but I didn't find it hot in the room. Reception is only manned at certain times but we had no reason to contact them so was not a drama- we checked out at 2.30 am as we had an early flight and it was no problem to pay the day before and leave the key in the room. We were a bit puzzled by the lack of dishwashing stuff- detergent, sponge, plug etc.. Am not sure what other guests did- if they left the dishes for the cleaner - but we bought cleaning stuff and the hotel gave us a little towel to dry dishes with.

Review 61：Just back from 1 weeks stay at Golden Bay where we had a great holiday. The apartments are very clean and newly renovated. Golden Bay is a great choice for families as it is right on the beach - one of the best located hotels in Agii Apostoli. The beach is great for kids- clear water, not too deep and only small waves. The pool area is great too and there were plenty of sunlounges. The pool bar/cafe is beautifully located overlooking the ocean and do drinks, icecreams, snacks, lunches - but as we were so close to our apartment it was convenient for eating lunch. There is a minimarket too but close by are two larger cheaper supermarkets Lidl & INKA. Staff are friendly and helpful. Close to several restaurants. If you have kids it is close to JUMBO (the toy/clothes shop) and Golden bay funpark (minigolf, trampolines, cafe, bowling, rides etc..). Taxis are right outside and it costs 7-8 euros to go into Chania Town (Old town is nice in the evening).

Review 62：The aircondition where remoted by the hotel. That means that the hotel decided when the aircon was ON / OFF. At the nights they turned it off at 4 o`clock. The comfort got therefor a lower score from me because of this.
