Review 3:I could not find anything to dislike.

Review 4:Friendly owners willing to help with any questions about places to visit or to eat. Real relaxing house to stay in, with a great breakfast.

Review 5:Large and clean shower but nil pressure.

Review 6:Great location within an easy walk of town centre, helpful and friendly owners, great breakfast, large and very clean room.

Review 7:we had to move the headboard, every time we turned the headboard hit the wall, a very trivial thing but a wee bit annoying.

Review 8:Wendy and Richard were lovely and helpful, advised us on places to go and restaurants to go too, which were excellent.

Review 9:Nothing - apart from the uphill when returning to the B&B from the city center.

Review 10:Richard + Wendy provided a lot of invaluable assistance and info to make our stay in Kendal and around the Lake District memorable. A sumptuous breakfast, free WIFI, free tea, coffee + biscuits replenished daily, easy parking ......a very good package indeed.

Review 11:The owners Richard & Wendy were very helpful and extremely friendly which made our stay perfect. The location of the B&B is excellent - walking distance to the town centre and great base for exploring the lakes. The room was spotless and the breakfast delicious.

Review 12:Having been on a tour of the North West, I stayed at the Hillside B&B, having spent the two previous nights in large chain hotels.. well there's no doubt which gave me the best experience. Good VFM, clean and top quality room and en-suite, and a delicious breakfast in the morning. To top of it all of, Richard & Wendy are an extremely accommodating and friendly couple, with Richard offering me some invaluable local knowledge after breakfast regarding best routes to take through the lakes to get the most out of my experience. All in all, a 10/10 hotel experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Hillside to anyone looking to stay in Kendal, as the perfect launchpad to exploring the beautiful Lake District.

Review 13:A very short distance into town for a very good choice of restaurants. Hosts very helpful and informative, helped us plan our short trip to the Lake District

Review 14:Nothing to not like!

Review 15:The owners Richard & Wendy Fawthrop were very friendly and gave us a good idea of where to go to eat for our evening meal. And suggested a scenic route for us to take for our onward journet. The Breakfast was substantial and delicious. We'd stay there again!

Review 16:Did not have a bad experience

Review 17:Would definitely go to Hillside again ..... lovely place to stay .... owners helpful and knowledgeable about the area ... good place to stay :-)

Review 18:A bit expensive compared to other inns nearby.

Review 19:Very comfortable room. Super clean. I loved the tea and coffee served at room. Breakfast was great! Definitely will recommend it to my friends.

Review 20:Very steep stairs. No car park. The room's furnishings seemed thrown together and slightly dated. Breakfast was ok but nothing special and only available for one hour.

Review 21:You can walk into the town centre.

Review 22:The hotel is up a steep hill, people will need to get a taxi if they struggle with walking but I was fine.

Review 23:Free Wi-Fi Comfy bed Friendly Staff Nice Area Close to the high street Great shower Free tea, coffee and hot chocolate in the room. Tasty Breakfast

Review 24:If you have to walk, you need to climb the hill, but when you get there 'GREAT'

Review 25:A husband and wife (+ the help from there son) they could not do enough for you, if you want a B&B with a homely appeal to you this is the one.

Review 26:Great location with parking outside. Friendly owners who offered local knowledge, took extra trouble to make sure their wi-fi service was excellent as I explained to them I needed it to prepare for work the next day and happily offered to let me hold on to the parking permit for the next morning after my checkout rather then my paying to park in town.

Review 27:Expect a warm welcome from Wendy and Richard. The moment you enter through a distinctive front door, the excellent standard and finish of the property is evident. The rooms are spotless, great finish and provide an excellent nights sleep. A wealth of information and local knowledge is provided.

Review 28:Can't think of anything.

Review 29:So friendly & helpful, from the moment we arrived they helped with our cases etc. Good breakfasts, immaculately clean accommodation, very enjoyable stay, we will be returning!

Review 30:The shower was very weak and only warm. In the middle of the night my neighbour went to the loo and must have switched the bathroom light on, as the fan took a long time to go off and kept me awake.

Review 31:Lovely property in a very convenient location. Richard was very helpful and could not have been more attentive. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Lovely tea/bicky facilities. Really good breakfast. Would recommend to anyone.

Review 32:The walk up the hill from town can be a challenge, but hey - that's why it's called Hillside . .

Review 33:Cleanliness throughout and attention to detail wherever you looked (hooks on the door; air fresh in ensuite; mintcake with the tea making kit; plenty of places to store belongings; plenty of sockets for chargers; integral blinds on d/glazed windows). Very attentive, knowledgeable and helpful owners, who go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. Only minutes walk from town centre; good local pubs very nearby.

Review 34:Nothing really, It was up a bit of a hill which could cause a problem to anyone with disabilities, but everything was spot on for us.

Review 35:Set in a nice location to explore the area. The owner was extremely helpful and friendly, and offered plenty of advice on places to visit, walks etc

Review 36:Everything: the staff, the service, the comfort, the food, the accommodation itself and most especially the cleanliness! Also, dining utensils were clean - I'm very particular with this and yes, I was impressed!

Review 37:Nothing

Review 38:Everything. The proximity to town was a real plus with access to numerous restaurants and shopping. Street parking was fine as Richard gave us a permit for the car. Richard was so friendly, I think we could have chatted on for ever. A definite for a return visit

Review 39:There was nothing at all to dislike at the Hillside, except that we had only booked in for one night, and would happily have stayed for several more.

Review 40:The warm welcome we were given, with arrangements for parking explained. The friendliness of the hosts, together with their suggestions of places to visit in the Lakes area. The facilities in the bedroom, as well as the absolute cleanliness. It didn't feel anything would have been a problem at the Hillside and we would visit again if we were going to be in the area, as well as recommend it to others we knew were visiting.

Review 41:Can't check in til 4pm. Check out by 10am. Shower pressure slightly slack in room 4. Very small room. Position of tv on wall in room 4. Tiny bathroom.

Review 42:Comfortable room. Veggie sausages plus soya milk offered by the staff. Pleasant couple run the joint. Warm on cool nights. Humorous breakfast chatter with the owner. Cute little Kendal mint cake bars left in room for us on first night.

Review 43:Steps to property and obviously stairs as well in the House.pot luck how close you could also park, again on a hill .also no visitors lounge.

Review 44:Breakfast

Review 45:We received a warm welcome, shown to a very clean comfortable room. Breakfast to a very high standard, with local produce. Owners were very helpful with directions to avoid local traffic jams, and where to go for an evening meal.

Review 46:The hill IS rather steep, but there are good short cuts through carparks (e.g. near M&S) which brings you out halfway up the hill.

Review 47:The B&B is clean and bright, with comfortable beds, hot showers and my room had views from two windows. Breakfast was excellent and the hosts very friendly and helpful. Next time I am in Kendal, there is no doubt I shall stay there again.

Review 48:We never managed to use the free wifi.

Review 49:We found it welcoming and friendly. Our room was modern and very clean. We had a lovely weekend and took on board suggestions from proprietors. If we come back to the area we would definitely try to stay.

Review 50:Received a warm welcome upon arrival from Richard. Our room was small and cosy, very clean and fresh. Location was close to the city so we were able to walk into town .Breakfast was well cooked and presented - thankyou.

Review 51:nothing.

Review 52:This was a really nice guesthouse to stay in.Richard and Wendy are a very friendly and welcoming couple . Between them they provided a wonderful breakfast and lots of very helpful information on everything in the area.

Review 53:The bed was a bit too soft and springy for me.

Review 54:The location in an historic, central part of Kendal. The breakfast was excellent. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

Review 55:I don't really have anything negative to say about my stay. The only inconvenience is parking but it is a Kendal wide issue and didn't disrupt the wonderful stay

Review 56:I was in Kendal for a friend's wedding. The owners couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome and cater for our requirements. They provided a wonderful veggie alternative for breakfast and had great local knowledge. The house was quiet in spite of a couple of pubs along the road and it being a bank holiday. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend to anyone.

Review 57:Nothing. This is a great place to stay and offers excellent value at a modest price. I would advise other guests in poor health or advanced in years that the hill that leads from the hotel to the town centre is quite steep and would be a challenge for some with mobility issues.

Review 58:Excellent base for walks around Kendal - only a stone's throw from the centre of town. Good Breakfast and as a vegetarian, I felt I was well looked after. Very nice people and easy to chat to - which for me is quite something as I am not overly sociable.

Review 59:Think the room we stayed in would benefit from a new bed/mattress - a bit creaky. Top floor first on the left. A very short but very steep walk ( 4 minutes) from high street - fine for us but not if you have mobility problems

Review 60:Good location for going out and exploring the Lakes plus benefits of staying in town for restaurants and pubs. The owners were very helpful and a really good breakfast ! Brought up a fan without us even asking when the weather was hot. Spotlessly clean Excellent value for money

Review 61:Friendly welcome, nice spacious room with good views over Kendal, spotless accommodation. I was hill-walking in area and owner made sure he was aware of my route for safety reasons. The owners were happy to provide an early breakfast on my departure date as I had an early start - and the breakfast itself was class :-)

Review 62:One way system around Kendal made finding B&B a bit tricky . Weather wasnt great

Review 63:friendly owners and great breakfast, given a parking permit during stay

Review 64:There's nothing i didn't like about the place

Review 65:Clean, comfortable, well appointed, i had a good view from my window, friendly staff, lovely breakfast, on a steep hill but i liked that for the exercise! Close to town centre. Overall, a fantastic place, i loved it.

Review 66:There's nothing negative to say - I was very happy and comfortable throughout my stay. If I should visit the Lake District again, I'll stay at Hillside again.

Review 67:Lovely room, spotlessly clean, very comfortable. Richard was very welcoming and helpful with planning days out. Breakfast was great with good choice. I was travelling by bus and train and the location is convenient. It's very close to the centre of Kendal (5 minutes or less) and the bus station 10 to 15 minutes walk away, the railway station a bit farther.

Review 68:Bathroom was quite small, and the toilet position was interesting. If you are on the larger side/very tall, there may be difficulties

Review 69:Richard was very helpful when asked what he would recommend us to see for the 2 days we stayed. Had some very good advice!

Review 70:Finding a parking space can be difficult, and I struggle with the steep hill from the town, as I have a problem with my breathing.

Review 71:Richard and Wendy are very friendly and welcoming, and the food and service is very good.

Review 72:Richard and Wendy were very friendly. Richards help in planning activities was excellent. Our trip to Keswick and the Honiston bus trip were well worth doing and something we hadn't thought of. Make sure you go on the sailndine boat trip on Lake Windermere. Amazing evening out.

Review 73:Located halfway up a steep hill - though very near centre of Kendal and near a trip to the preserved Lime Kiln - and location of parking depends on where there is a space in the vicinity.

Review 74:Immaculate decor and facilities. Very good breakfast with fresh fruit and plenty of choice and the best marmalade ever.

Review 75:I had no complaints at all!

Review 76:Richard and Wendy offer a warm, friendly and excellent stay and the value added of knowing the Lakes intimately! It was a delight to stay there ... and breakfast is superb!

Review 77:Sadly the beds were so rickety every time I moved it rocked and squeaked
