Reviews for Exeter Court Hotel

Review 1:Staff really helpful and friendly. We arrived very late and though near the end of the staff shift the check in was really calm and not at all rushed with full explanations given on breakfast and facilities - thank you, a lovely welcome after an arduous journey

Review 2:Breakfast staff weren't very helpful i required a 7am breakfast and staff were late. Was served at 7:15am.

Review 3:Good location , clean room, staff pleasant.

Review 4:Lack of mirror over dressing table in room 49. Made getting ready - hair drying etc difficult

Review 5:Comfortable rooms, friendly staff, good food and good value in the restaurant.

Review 6:I only had one niggle the pillows were not adequate they were flat and not enough. the two pillows I had they were so flat it was like a very thin one pillow but otherwise good job.

Review 7:Beds were not overly comfortable with hard foam pillows.

Review 8:Location handy for A38. Rooms very clean with good powerful shower. Breakfast good with prompt, friendly service.

Review 9:Quite excellent parking. However, during our stay wedding on therefore unable to enjoy bar / restuarant. Couldn't spend intimate time eating or relaxing after. Should let people know about the venues and reduce cost

Review 10:I did not dislike anything!

Review 11:Room was lovely, nicely decorated, small but spacious feeling and had all we needed. Food from restaurant was great and very reasonably priced. Would recommend.

Review 12:I was in room No2 which faced the rear entrance to the service area and kitchen? The noise from the staff outside the back door at 6 am was quite loud and noisey which is unacceptable. I mentioned it to reception next morning and I hope that minor but irritating anomoly has been rectified.

Review 13:Nice clean, modernly furnished hotel with nice bathroom/shower and comfy beds. Great breakfast, easy access to major route. I have used it before and would use it again.

Review 14:the stay was spoilt - mainly be selfish party guests who decided to continue revelling from 2am to 4am in an adjacent room !! walls are not soundproof by any means and rooms doors continually slammed during this period. after 4am we managed a couple more hours of weary shuteye. Not necessarily a hotel problem - but be aware of the room to room noise transfer

Review 15:location convenient and away from a busy carriageway. friendly staff.

Review 16:Was unable to use hotel restaurant and bar on the second night because both were packed with people that had attended a wedding at the hotel

Review 17:Very clean rooms, lovely food

Review 18:My daughter would like croissants as a breakfast option!

Review 19:Modern, faultless bathroom, warm rooms, general clean & tidy appearance, excellent full breakfast options.

Review 20:Just one observation our table was not cleared between courses at breakfast which on a table for two meant we had to put dirty crocks on a neighboring table.Only a minor comment.

Review 21:Our 5th stay still very good

Review 22:beds and pillows. When you saying hotel there should be some food avaialbe

Review 23:No food available late night when we arrived, have to go all the way to town centre. The beds were very uncomfortable as were the pillows. The bed made a lot of noise

Review 24:There was noone on reception at check out. I had to leave a note

Review 25:Nice comfy bed, rooms are scattered through seperate buildings so it was very quiet. I did have a random bunk bed in my room, which was OK really. A family would probably be happy with that.

Review 26:This was our fifth, could even be sixth, stay here and always excellent. Our room, refurbished since last time, was furnished to a high standard, plenty of hot water and very comfortable. Restaurant (great maitre d) terrific value with locally sourced produce. Really good for the tariff and will always use it when in the region.

Review 27:The beds were VERY uncomfortable. kept waking up & tossing & turning & nearly ending up on the floor. Killed my back. Cooked Breakfast wasn't up to much, very small portion & poor quality food.

Review 28:Very clean Hotel, pleasant staff.

Review 29:I always enjoy this convenient location. Well-appointed accommodation (excellent bathrooms) and comfortable restaurant. The food on this trip (mixed grill) was outstanding!

Review 30:Couldn't fault it - perfect!

Review 31:The room was spacious and tastefully decorated, the bathroom was really modern and very practical, the bed was comfy, there was plenty of wardrobe space and drawers, an iron and ironing board, flat screen TV, free Wi fi. The breakfast was lovely and the sausages were on the menu as local tasted lovely - all meaty and tasty and the eggs were free range. All really good. There was no chaos at breakfast as there were two waiting staff and the man who served us was so polite and efficient and pleasant. I think he was called Rajan ( reading his badge) Free parking and plenty of spaces. I'd stay here again for sure!

Review 32:Not a bad experience, but would have liked a bigger bed. Travel a lot in America where we are spoilt by big beds.

Review 33:Value for money. Location perfect for our travels

Review 34:Receptionist 4pm Sat was very poor. Barely civil, rattled through her script, seemed that greeting guests was not her bag. Also, corridor door banged against doorframe all night as people went through. Hinge or something squealed every time the door shut. Sleep very broken.

Review 35:Restaurant manager was excellent.

Review 36:Most of the time ok ,but on the last but one day cleaners seemed to short cut the cleaning of the room .

Review 37:Staff very helpful, restaurant staff more than helpful as I had two disabled relations with me

Review 38:Room comfortable and quiet surroundings Food very good and reasonably priced Staff, especially in the restaurant, attentive and very pleasant to deal with. Lots of parking spaces

Review 39:The cooked breakfast was a bit of a disappointment - this is seen as a treat when we stay away. Poor quality sausage & bacon, did not taste of anything

Review 40:Locality for our needs. Reasonable room size

Review 41:The only thing I can say that one of the waitres did not have good customer service and he did not pay attention to my request at all.

Review 42:The place was absolutely stunning, clean, nice staff, beautiful breakfast. I will definetly stay again.

Review 43:Good staff and service. We'd booked a suite but there was a slight problem with the toilet flush plus the people in the adjacent suite had noisy kids. Asked to change rooms but there were no other suites available but offered a premium double and an appropriate discount. No fuss no dramas, very happy with that. Very fast WiFi. Good breakfast would stay again no question.

Review 44:Breakfast staff leave a lot to be desired Breakfast ran out of juice, fruit and other items the staff stood and watched me getting little out the machine no help offered u til I said can I have some more juice!

Review 45:Great value for money Room small but comfortable

Review 46:Springs noisy in the bed, I think the mattress could do with replacing or at least turning.

Review 47:Clean and well presented. Room was comfortable and well sized. Good powerful shower. I ate in the bar area in the evening, the staff were attentive and the food was very good.

Review 48:The room was comfortable and had everything I needed, parking the car directly outside the room is useful, and the facilities are good. I did not eat at the hotel but used the bar area the morning after arrival; it was comfortable and the service excellent. I had a very good night's sleep prior to an interview!

Review 49:Not a criticism, just observations, but small bedroom, no shelves in bathroom, no towel rail so towels obscured radiator,no room for chair

Review 50:Position, cleanliness,good breakfast

Review 51:The intolerable noise from bedroom and entrance doors slamming until late is not acceptable, and must be resolved or else some will look elsewhere before they consider a second stay.

Review 52:the room was clean, shower excellent, bed a little hard, staff above average. The breakfast was excellent and superb value. The evening meal menu (not used) looked appetising with some good value veggie meals. The carpark was ample, with sufficient room.

Review 53:Asked for a quiet room, was given the room next to the main door into the block which meant you could hear everyone coming and going. Also why have a bar menu if you dont serve bar food in the evening!

Review 54:Good shower.

Review 55:The food was not up to standard as the hotel it needs a good review maybe a more experienced chef.

Review 56:Easy to get to. Rooms are clean and modern, bath and shower are very good, and clean. We had a good night sleep.

Review 57:There was nothing we didn't like, honestly. It was fabulous.

Review 58:Everything was excellent at this hotel we would stay again and recommend. Thank you a lovely stay.

Review 59:Small double bed not big enough, mattress not very comfortable

Review 60:Excellent accessible location, clean, modern furnishing, super power shower and bath, good food, friendly helpful staff, superb value for money

Review 61:The only thing ( and not a bad experience) was that we found the hotel very hot and our room was next to the boiler which was quite noisy at times ( not the whole night and it didnt disturb our sleep)

Review 62:the hotel was clean and tidy, staff were friendly , efficient and helpful. The food was of the most excellent quality and value for money.

Review 63:Heating on a timer. Had to ring reception to have it turned on. Radiator was then either off or boiling, no in between.

Review 64:It was close to city but not in a built up area. Friendly staff. Hot bath.

Review 65:There was nothing not to like but a couple of points to consider - the room was fine but a bit on the small side if you were planning to spend any length of time during the day in it. A really picky thing the hairdryer didn't have a nozzle to direct the air so fine for an all over dry but not so easy to style short hair.

Review 66:Excellent location for the purpose of our visit. This was the second place we booked as the first wouldn't take our booking when they knew we would arrive after 10pm. Here the response couldn't have been more positive and helpful. Room was quiet, decent shower, breakfast good. Overall met our needs perfectly for the one night we stayed. we would stay again if the need arose.

Review 67:The receptionist was rude and abrupt when I called the day before. The waiters were a dither but one of them collected my plate before everyone had finished at our table and tried to take my husbands plate before he had finished eating his meal. Manager flung the windows of restaurant open Saturday night without asking if patrons were hot or cold. Customer service score -10

Review 68:The easiness of finding the hotel. The cleanliness Beautiful scenery

Review 69:The receptionist was not very friendly on arrival. She was serving someone but did not smile or greet me at all. this seemed rather rude.

Review 70:The place was very close to the motorway so convenient to find, but yet it was quiet. With the windows closed one could not hear any traffic noise. breakfast was Ok. The room was comfortable.

Review 71:The bedroom which had obviously been refurbished recently was very clean and comfortable, lovely big shower, bed a bit firm for our liking. Liked the provision of iron and ironing board in the room & hairdryer. We ate the evening meal in the restaurant and very pleased with the service and quality of food but felt the restaurant really lacked any character, but it served the purpose of somewhere convenient whilst staying overnight. The cooked breakfast was very good and substantial. Staff all very pleasant. Car parking plentiful. Would definitely return.

Review 72:Accommodation was excellent and spotlessly clean, shower room exceptional.Staff were very friendly, helpful and professional, always with a smile. Food very good and plenty of choice. Definitely stay again.

Review 73:I found the block I was in bit noisy (very minor from other guests TV's), and the doors very loud when closing, both internal fire doors and other guest's room doors.

Review 74:The staff were very helpful, levels of cleanliness were very good, and the food at the restaurant was superb.

Review 75:The double bed was a small one. This is personal choice and cannot fault anything.

Review 76:A good all rounder. Clean, friendly, great location. Couldn't ask for more. This hotel is obviously well looked after. Immaculate rooms and it was obvious that things like the carpets had just been cleaned. Outside planting beautiful and clear and clean.

Review 77:It said it was in the city but infact was not that at all and was just off the motorway but in the end worked out well for us for visiting family

Review 78:Lovely rooms all very modern, we had my nephew for a day and no one said anything about us taking him back to the hotel. The staff were lovely very polite.

Review 79:Nothing

Review 80:Great place for a stopover. Smallish room but very comfortable. Friendly welcome. Super Local pub dating from 1280 (yes!) half a mile away. Excellent breakfast.

Review 81:Toilet paper embossed and very rough...o.k for blokes but a no no for the ladies

Review 82:Quality and extent of room facilities..even a full size umberella if required to walk to restaurant

Review 83:Unfortunately on our last night of the stay we had really noisy neighbours, both sides of our room. I think they had all arrived together and seemed to be in and out of each others rooms, talking really loudly and banging the doors until well gone midnight.

Review 84:We liked the comfort of the room, cleanliness and the breakfast.

Review 85:Every staff member very friendly and professional so refreshing thank you and also someone knows how to cook in the kitchen because the food was fantastic ! thank you a lovely stay and this hotel is so much more than a motorway stop over

Review 86:the dining room walls looked a bit grotty, food stains on the walls from the small tables up against them, cruets needed cleaning, greasy not cleaned from night before, foreign waitstaff a little timid and need experience in English vocabulary and general waiting duties, but they tried, wih proper training they would be good.

Review 87:Close to city and nightlife.

Review 88:Nothing really to complain about.

Review 89:The location was excellent near the highway and easy to find and bear a small village where we spent a great evening with the locals in an inn. The included breakfast was plentiful and varied. Staff were professional and friendly.

Review 90:Shower not hot. TV remote temperamental.

Review 91:Easy access from A38. Nice welcome on checkin. Good service in restaurant (dinner and breakfast). Quiet room. Plenty of parking.

Review 92:I met my partner here as it is halfway point for both of us. I was delighted with the location of the hotel which was just off the main road from where I was travelling and easy to find. The surrounding area was beautiful and it was peaceful and relaxed. The village of Kenn was stunning and we are already arranging another trip back.

Review 93:Breakfasts very poor selections eggs claimed to be cooked to order but came wrong / dried & on last occasion full of egg shell. A tight time schedule for us meant we could not ask for it to be rectified and went without. Whole fresh fruit as an additional option to the mixed chopped fruit would have been nice.

Review 94:Staff very friendly & helpful. A problem with the heating was dealt with quickly.

Review 95:No complaints

Review 96:Very friendly and helpful staff. Garage very close to top up before continuing our journey. Very clean and comfortable. Excellent value for money

Review 97:N/a

Review 98:The food in the restaurant was tasty and the service excellent. The room was sparklingly clean and modern with a fantastic shower and comfortable bed. Located just off the motorway - ideal for a break en route to Cornwall.

Review 99:The Breakfast Staff who were very helpful as I was recovering from a knee operation and was restricted with my walking and the man in charge made sure we had a table near the cereals , toast etc.

Review 100:I liked the convenient situation to the motorway. I had a twin room with a very nice shower [not over a bath], instead of a poky room over kitchens - often given to solo travellers. Good parking right outside my room.

Review 101:The rooms very comfortable but a bit dated, The hotel could do with updating but but good value for the price.

Review 102:The location was excellent and the breakfast was very good. The staff were very helpful and provided very good service.

Review 103:Luckily it was fine to walk back to the rooms I wouldn't have liked to walk with a stick and an umbrella in the rain. It was a shame that the Saturday menu in the restaurant was restricted but the manager was very accommodating.

Review 104:The bar and restaurant staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 105:We didn't appreciate the maid waking us up at 9.15. They shouldn't try to make up the rooms until we have checked out. She woke up everyone in our block of rooms, not cool.

Review 106:Good stop off location for our trip on route.

Review 107:The double room was comfortable but small. A disadvantage when 2 people are preparing to go to a wedding. A magnifying makeup mirror would have been useful in the bathroom.

Review 108:Receptionist was extremely helpful with changes in the booking before we got to the hotel and very welcoming on arrival.

Review 109:No wifi in the hotel, not even in public areas. I chose this hotel over another one because it advertised wifi in rooms rather than just public areas.

Review 110:The location was good for my purposes

Review 111:Had Room 1 adjacent to the entry door of block, kept awake as drunks from function entered block at all hours and let over-strong door closer slam door. Shower screen guides falling off, wifi kept dropping out. Cigarette butts left around doorways for the weekend.

Review 112:Parking, meals, catering staff.

Review 113:The thermostat on the radiator did not work and the room was too hot. We were unable to turn it down or off.

Review 114:We have stayed here before. This time we were upgraded from a standard room to a large room. This was much more comfortable.

Review 115:the weather was quite cold and as my husband is on warfarin it was very cold even though the radiator was turned up not really central enough for us rather more like a motel than hotel

Review 116:food was good, breakfast plenty staff pleasant

Review 117:Food in the restaurant was quite poor. It was noisy at night because of people in the corridor & neighboring rooms, slamming doors, and also the noise from the road.

Review 118:Good location just off the motorway, so ideal for a stop-off on the way to Cornwall. Ample parking.

Review 119:Musky smell in room and interlinking room on a suite we booked where we could here everything including another couple having s_x. I also didn't like that we was told one suite includes robes and another doesn't. This is just stupid.

Review 120:Freindly staff and decent rooms. One of the suite's had a fantastic bathroom with little blue lights in the ceiling and the other rooms had great showers. All rooms on the ground floor.

Review 121:This is a great value for money hotel. The evening menu is limited but more than adequate and the prices are reasonable. The rooms and ensuite facilities are modern and clean, the staff friendly and the location easily accessed.

Review 122:No covered way from rooms to restaurant and lounge. Restaurant felt more like a mess hall than an attractive dining area.

Review 123:Conveniently placed for access to most of the Devon Tourist attractions

Review 124:We booked this hotel because it had WIFI and we needed it for work reasons but in both of our rooms it was not working. Very disappointing. There was mould on the bathroom ceiling; rooms were tiny for the price we paid; hallway carpet looked wet or discoloured.

Review 125:Nice breakfast and restaurant staff polite.

Review 126:Initial impression poor as A38 on front doorstep! This could be an advantage. But room quiet despite traffic! And clean etc. similar to Travelodge or Premier Inn! Staff helpful!

Review 127:The food was expensive compared to the price of staying at the hotel, and of a very average standard. Definitely not for foodies!

Review 128:Very comfortable and clean

Review 129:I thought that on entering the ECH the old block to the left stood out. Covered in brambles and untidy. If it is in use you could easily disguise it with a modern façade on the approach side. If its derelict, take it down. Every morning I went to the garage to get the paper. Your attention is drawn to the A38 with all its traffic. Its easy to forget that the slip road in front is also busy at times with fast traffic which comes round the corner from the right.. I think its worth putting a sign up there to warn pedestrians and departing guests of the danger Rosie found her bed a bit hard. We will come again as we have good reasons to be in Exeter. We would recommend ECH to our friends. Thank you. Doug and Rosie.

Review 130:Bathroom and Shower. Lovely food. Easy access and departure for East and West. See my danger comment.

Review 131:I didn't like were our room was as when any one came in the doors banged and woke us up but the staff was so helpful and our evening meal was lovely this is the second time we have stayed there but hope next time you do not put me in room 25

Review 132:The shower in our room filled up to the bottom of the shower door andpoured out when you opened the door to get out. Only one of us could usethe shower. Toilet and sink backing up. Still full of water 3 hourslater. Spoke to reception and offered 10% discount. Stated manager wouldcontact me with discount. Still waiting for call. Very poor service. Also no wifi.

Review 133:Location
