Reviews for Taypark House

Review 1:If anything we felt the breakfast staff could have been more attentive. After sitting and waiting for 5-10 mins I had to approach them for coffee, water and our order. However still very friendly and breakfast was very tasty.

Review 2:Fantastic turret room, very nice cosy classic decor, great inviting living room gin bar and staff were very friendly. Excellent views over the botanical gardens and River Tay. Breakfast was delicious.

Review 3:Free WiFi .... but it didn't work

Review 4:Very impressive looking old building, good combination of historic look/feel with modern fixtures and fittings. Great traditional cooked breakfast. Friendly helpful staff Quality at a very low price.

Review 5:Check-in was awkward - didn't know where to go and process was very slow at the bar. Pancakes at breakfast were chewey.

Review 6:The grounds and the house decor. Coffee was fantastic. Room was large and cosy. Bed was very comfortable. Convenience of power sockets on either side of bed was much appreciated.

Review 7:Narrow times for breakfast (7:30-9 on weekdays, 8-9:30 on weekends). Breakfast quality was excellent though.

Review 8:Very comfortable, very clean, very friendly staff. Fast wifi.

Review 9:Room facing car park and lit trees at night lining on curtains would be good. Corridor lights showing through bottom of door room 104 .

Review 10:Beautiful decor and design . Very comfy room bed and lovely shower room. Excellent breakfast too. Very relaxed place . I'm looking forward to staying again.

Review 11:Although the hotel is in Dundee you come off the main road down a sweeping drive and the hotel is like a country house nestled in trees, the setting is lovely. The style of the interior suits the building complete with logs fires, soft lighting and a warm and inviting feel to it. My room was very big, spotlessly clean with a nice thick carpet complete with a large bed and quality linen. Lots of nice touches, including quality toiletiries, cotton balls and hand cream. I had a large bathroom with a rolltop bath and double shower. My roow was 105 (Cedar View). Breakfast was included and was served in the country style cafe also open to the public. There isn't an actual reception desk but when you enter, turn right into the bar area where you will be checked in. I was there to attend an evening event elsewhere but think I would enjoy spending an evening in the Gin bar within Tay Park House. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone else and will definitely return.

Review 12:We had originally booked a double for the night but at check in a twin was all that they had. Until we were offered an upgrade to a suite with no extra cost. It was superb. Breakfast in the morning was great too. Very helpful and friendly stay.

Review 13:We booked this as a last minute booking for a work event and i was delighted with it. The cost was very reasonable and the room wa beautiful. i will return her for a weekend with my husband. Just lovely

Review 14:The staff were not accommodating. An aspiring boutique establishment with gin bar should be more service orientated and flexible.

Review 15:Nicely renovated and decorated, very good home baking.

Review 16:Check out was 10am and we would have preferred it to be slightly later but we did still hang around afterwards enjoying the house and garden.

Review 17:Beautiful house, beautiful setting, beautiful room with lovely view, comfortable, clean and cosy. Breakfast was delicious too!

Review 18:Would have appreciated the option of an evening meal.

Review 19:Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Our room was awesome with great views over the Tay. Would definitely come back again.

Review 20:Housekeeping was slightly haphazard although the room maids were lovely, and it would have been good to be able to eat in the hotel in the evening. The Best Western along the road was good for food though and could be recommended to Taypark House guests looking for an evening meal without having to go into the town centre.

Review 21:Beautiful room, magnificent view, tasteful general decor, friendly and efficient staff, superb value, matchless comfort and warmth, delicious breakfast, atmospheric bar. I really loved it! It was one of the most special places to stay that I have ever experienced.

Review 22:I liked everything. The room, the helpful friendly service, the late night snack arranged for us and the breakfast. Excellent shower and comfortable bed.

Review 23:The bar looks very inviting but is actually quite small and with just a few people there was noisy - perhaps more soft furnishings to dampen the noise? We chose to go out instead.

Review 24:Staff were very friendly, especially at breakfast and the food was superb. Beautiful room, spacious and luxurious - it was one of the most memorable places we stayed on a 3 week trip. Wonderful view from room out to the river and garden, did not feel like we were in a city.

Review 25:The noise from the drive in Rm 301 is a bit of a problem - perhaps particularly with the early mornong (0640...!) deliveries. Double glazing a good idea...?

Review 26:Excellent ambience. Lovely staff. The perfect relaxation to be had in the middle of a tough work schedule.

Review 27:The room was fabulous , the decor, size, view all amazing . The bathroom was sumptuous . I especially like the tea and coffee pot lampshades in the dining room.

Review 28:Beautiful hotel. Great room with a stunning bathroom. The bar was lovely and the staff all very friendly. Had a great breakfast. The decor in the hotel is beautiful with amazing attention to detail. Felt very relaxing and comfortable

Review 29:This was a really lovely hotel. Decor was tasteful and had a real sense of the best in Scottish hotels. Warm, welcoming and my only regret was that I couldn't stay longer.

Review 30:Nowhere to put towel close to sink/shower (I was in Bridge View Room) unless you put it on the floor. No evening meals available even for residents.

Review 31:Lovely welcoming staff. Modern spotlessley clean rooms. Quiet location. Excellent breakfast.

Review 32:Wow! What a lovely hotel. My room was beautiful, comfortable with a tremendous sunset view and its own turret! Staff were very helpful. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Review 33:We were initially advised of the wrong breakfast times and found the latest time for breakfast a little early. Lack of reception desk was slightly confusing and awkward.

Review 34:Spacious and luxurious rooms; excellent breakfast choices; very accommodating regarding our very late arrival; beautiful décor.

Review 35:This is a fairly new hotel and probably a work in progress. I think the rooms, whilst huge and generally well appointed, needed the curtains to be lined as well as having the blinds. Plus some artwork to make the rooms less impersonal.

Review 36:Very friendly staff, excellent location, quirky fitments (lampshades in the café)

Review 37:Being locked out of hotel and bar closure at 10 pm on a Saturday night. Restaurant more of a breakfast room than a evening dining environment. No glasses in the bathroom.

Review 38:The clean comfortable roomb

Review 39:There was nothing that I did not like and I would defently stay ther again.

Review 40:The staff where so approachable and helpful and made staying there a pleasure.

Review 41:It's some way from the town centre - about 1.5 miles from the station - although easy to find and not unpleasant to walk. Buses pass frequently too. otherwise, there's nothing to dislike - it's wonderful

Review 42:A stunning building in beautiful surroundings. Large room in a chic and calm style. Lovely staff and a great breakfast. One of the best places I've stayed in for a long time.

Review 43:Apart from the one girl who checked us in, all other staff were very rude and unwelcoming. No clear way to check in and no-one offered assistance. Rude, unhelpful staff at breakfast. Check out by 10am!! Very unusual.

Review 44:Beautiful place to stay. Room spotless.

Review 45:Bit of a confusing entry, no real welcome as no reception point at the entrance. Had to enquire in the bar what the booking in procedure was. The young lady behind the bar was very efficient, but slightly brash and un-welcoming in her manner, not openly friendly. Did not like the pay on arrival set-up, makes you instantly feel like you are under suspicion. Checking in and paying in view of the bar patrons was a slightly uncomfortable situation to be put in from the off. We arrived at 19.30 after a long day travelling from London to Aberdeen, and then on to Dundee by car. However when we enquired about having something to eat, we were informed that the restaurant closes at 19.45!!!!!! Affording us no time to freshen up and change for dinner. Who stops serving at 19.45?! No concession on time was offered, not the service expected. So we had to decant and hunt elsewhere in a city we were unfamiliar with, to find an evening meal. The stay was also marred by the amount of notices posted on every surface available, informing "guests" of all the things they are not permitted to do. Makes you feel like you are intruding in someone's home, not staying in a hotel. There's an element of over-control, lack of freedom and welcoming that affects the atmosphere in this place. A separation between home and business, and a little more customer awareness is needed.

Review 46:We stayed in the Turret Suite. Lovely big room, tastefully decorated. Very comfortable, with a large sofa, in-room bath, and views across the Tay. Has the added bonus of the Turret with its seating and elevated views of the grounds and the Tay. Breakfast was a lovely experience. Eating in a bright, airy room overlooking the garden. This room feels different from the rest of the house. Nice choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, juices and croissants. The cooked offering (I had eggs benedict) was excellent. Compliments to the chef.

Review 47:The hotel restaurant is not open in the evening and this needs to be noted on the website.

Review 48:Gorgeous Boutique hotel in a fabulous setting but very close to city centre. Luxurious rooms with the most comfortable bed I ever slept in. Very friendly and efficient staff.

Review 49:Tasteful decor, spotlessly clean. Beautiful comfortable rooms. The bar and eating areas had a relaxed feel and the breakfast was perfect. Staff professional and friendly. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Review 50:Nothing.

Review 51:When we checked in the gentlemen was very friendly and helpful and gave us restaurant recommendations for dinner. The house was so beautiful inside and out and the room was very large with a great bed and excellent water pressure for the shower. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. We highly recommend it.

Review 52:Being left outside the hotel for 2 hours (in the middle of the night)whilst 2 fire engines and the police tried to rouse someone wasn'tgood. Eventually they woke the night porter who was in the property allalong - potentially very dangerous had there been a fire!!!! Breakfastwas dire, check in slow, no food in the evening and they couldn'trecommend anywhere for takeaway - most bizarre situation!

Review 53:Bath and view were nice. Once it was established that after 8 hourstravel I didn't want to go out on my own to eat, neither could Iorder in takeaway unless they gave me a name of somewhere locally thechef cooked me some food which was delicious.

Review 54:Ability to get an evening meal would have been ideal for me, but staff were happy to suggest local alternatives

Review 55:Something a bit different to the "normal" business hotels I use, and all the better for it. Very friendly, clean and relaxing

Review 56:It is not really a bad experience but a few small changes to the apartment would make it even better. Frosted glass in the bathroom so the blind did not have to be pulled as we could see directly down into the restaurant so presumably they could see us. A mirror in the bedroom anywhere would be good, but just above the plugs sockets would be great to do your hair. Lastly a chest of drawers some where in the room. The price was obviously very inflated just because it was close to the Open Golf at St Andrews we paid £250 per night where normal price looks at around £80 which would be very good value.

Review 57:It was very new apartment and was very well done. Very clean and quiet. Breakfast was excellent. Very friendly welcome and happy staff in the restaurant.

Review 58:Unfortunately I had to move rooms during my stay due to maintenance which wasn't a problem, however, after moving to the cottage behind the hotel, had no wi-fi access which isn't ideal when away on business. The hotel doesn't currently cater for evening meals during the week which I hadn't realised at the time of booking so something to bear in mind.

Review 59:A beautiful hotel with stunning gardens, very idyllic, perfect for relaxing. Certainly enjoyed sampling a gin or 2 from the large selection on offer at the bar.

Review 60:Our room up in the attic was a bit of a climb and the layout was strange

Review 61:Clean and newly refurbished. Very friendly staff. Very good food on site in the restaurant downstairs. Converted victorian mansion with nice atmosphere and good location. Bar and restaurant has garden terrace and relaxing atmosphere. Good value.

Review 62:Staff were exemplary in their attention and manners. The only downside was orders for dinner had to be in by 7o'clock so if you wanted to eat later you had to go into the city which was a bit of a walk. However taxis were readily available if you needed one.

Review 63:The drive into the Hotel gave an indication of the kind of luxury to expect, beautifully kept grounds. inside was the most spacious of rooms with a slipper bath in the room and a large bathroom besides. Up a winding spiral staircase there was a spectacular turret that enjoyed panoramic views across the Tay and the gardens. All really comfortable.

Review 64:Lack of evening meal option, meant a short walk or drive into the local town where choice was limited.

Review 65:Fantastic hotel, great views and location. Rooms are very clean and spacious. I will be staying again and recommending to friends and family.

Review 66:Couldn't really fault it- the food is lovely, pitty the restauarant does not offer meals in the evening.

Review 67:My room was possibly the best single room I have ever stayed in- massive! stunning view, best bed I have ever slept in. For anyone who likes their creature comforts, the Taypark House Hotel is hard to beat and great value for money too.

Review 68:I booked a night away as a surprise for my boyfriend. We loved the hotel, and it's location. The only complaint I have is the price of the room we stayed in. I had booked a disabled double room as this was the only room left. I paid £92 which online is the same rate as the normal standard doubles. Our room was set away from the down stairs reception area and felt a lot less luxurious than the normal double rooms located upstairs. Cleanliness and decor was perfect but considering the size of the room and it's location , i felt the room rate could have been reduced.

Review 69:Only slight downside was bar closing at 10 p.m.

Review 70:friendly staff, lovely setting and comfortable accomodation. Breakfast was excellent with good choices. Eggs benedict highly recommended.

Review 71:No restaurant in the evening. It was not evident on Booking.com that this was classed as a B&B as the staff told me which meant their cafe closed at 5pm. Not good for a solo female business traveler.

Review 72:The room and view was excellent

Review 73:The only slight downside was a business breakfast meeting at 6:30am on Thursday that disturbed the peace somewhat.

Review 74:A fabulous place. A couple of miles from the city centre but on a bus route so easy to get to without a car. The furnishing and decoration are a high standard throughout and provide a very comfortable stay. Good quality breakfast selection too.

Review 75:Nothing not to like!

Review 76:Superb place. Lovely location, close enough to town centre but quiet, set in own grounds. Very tastefully renovated/decorated hotel. Huge bedroom and luxurious bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the gin bar!

Review 77:The check out time could have been longer; but that said, the staff were very accommodating.

Review 78:The hotel was lovely, tastefully decorated and homely. The rooms were very spacious and to a very high standard. The big bath was a dream to soak in! The staff were so helpful and made our stay very pleasant.

Review 79:Didn't realise it was quite so far out of town which was a fault on my part. When the reviews said great location I wrongly assumed it was central

Review 80:Very quirky hotel with great attention to detail

Review 81:Just needs a restaurant offering evening meals.

Review 82:Staff were all really nice, the hotel is really clean and tidy. Staff ordered me a Chinese take away. The breakfast was really good.

Review 83:More than 5 coathangers would be good. Woken at 06.15hrs by a noisy 'meet and greet' start of a conference. Very irritating and may need better managing (of times/location of meeting up, which was outside bedroom 101).

Review 84:All of the above

Review 85:- the house, the wow effect of coming down the driveway - the views of river Tay and Tay park - the decor - the selection of wines - eggs Benedict for breakfast - the staff that could not do more for you

Review 86:Would have liked to have a meal in the hotel at night but they do not do evening meals it did'nt spoil our stay but would have preferred to eat there.

Review 87:The Rooms were lovely very big and tastefully decorated and the view was beautiful, staff were lovely and helpful advising us of where to eat and chatted in a friendly manner making you feel welcome and at ease.

Review 88:Nothing no complaints whatsoever.

Review 89:Everything about the hotel was great.

Review 90:The decor, ambience and gin ☺️

Review 91:Excellent location, staff, decor, cleanliness and especially food!

Review 92:Just wish i could have spent more time here

Review 93:Loved everything. It was relaxed. Friendly place in beautiful surroundings

Review 94:Breakfast finished too early 9am!

Review 95:Size of room and bathroom

Review 96:The peace and tranquillity combined with the excellent breakfast and the positive attitude amongst the staff.

Review 97:Bar closed at 10pm, but not really an issue

Review 98:Very tastefully decorated accomadation

Review 99:Chance to sleep in comfort. Helpful friendly staff and great food. Accommodation very good and will return for more!

Review 100:Lovely room staff were very helpful

Review 102:Door closed 10pm and no evening meals
